Assistant Professor Health and Human Performance CoHP FY2024

The Department of Health and Human Performance in the College of Health Professions at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley is seeking candidates who have a demonstrated record of success in research, teaching, and professional service in the health, health education, health promotion, public health and/or related fields that are commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2023. The position is a nine-month, tenure track faculty position in the Health and Human Performance department in the College of Health Professions. The responsibilities include establishing a research agenda, grants procurement, participation in scholarly committees and taskforces, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in health education and public health and performance of other duties assigned by the department chair. Faculty will be required to teach in a variety of settings incorporating technology and student engaged pedagogies to maximize student success. Given that UTRGV is a distributed campus, faculty may be required to teach online or hybrid courses. Service to the department, college, university, community, and professional organizations is an integral part of the faculty member’s responsibilities.

UTRGV faculty will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college and program missions and are committed to UTRGV’s guiding principles (http://www.utrgv.edu/en-us/about-utrgv/history/transition-plan/guiding-principles/ ), which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to become one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A.

Faculty is expected to actively engage in research/scholarship and seek external funding. Faculty are encouraged to engage in basic, applied and/or translational research to address critical community and state needs.

Earned doctorate degree is preferred in health education or public health with a record of successful research grant application history and graduate student training. In addition, evidence in effective teaching and professional service.

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more years of post-doctoral research experience; a recent history of grant submission and/or procurement, and existing grant funding in place; and a record of professional experience in the fields of health promotion and public health. Candidates who are MCHES, CHES or CPH certified or eligible will also receive preference.

Sprocket and I started hiking at Pelican Overlook (where we could totally have stealth camped for free, but, alas).

I tried to stick to my heart rate goals for training and it was taking us a realllllyyyy long time. The canyon wasn’t particularly interesting and just headed up through trees. Somehow, I had missed…

If anyone has wondered where I've been the last 3 days~ A Celebration of Harry Potter 2017

boil as many potatoes choped into cubes as youd like boil them for 7 minutes while theyre boiling chop up like 2-3 cloves of garlic, half of a yellow onion, and 2 green onion stalks pull the potatoes off when theyre done and rinse the pan, drain the potatoes set the stove to a high simmer and put in as much butter as you desire toss in all of the garlic and onions you cohpped up, mix them with salt, pepper, coriander, small sprinkle of basil, and cayenee pepper while they caramilze when theyre done carameilizing put in a generous ammount of beef or chicken stock, like until the veggies are submerged turn up the heat so that it'll simmer, you dont have to wait for it to simmer but once the ingredients youre about to add are heated they should start to add half a cup of water and one cup of milk continue adding salt and pepper to taste until you're satisfied with it go grateenough cheddar cheese till it can fill both of ur hands if you take a handfull, then go add it to the soup add a mix of half a cup of cold waater and 2 spoonfulls of corn starch (less starch if it feels already pretty thick) add a some splashes of worcheshire sauce, then add salt and pepper and maybe more coriander and cayenen until ur happy with the flavor when it starts to bubble turn down the heat a bit lower and add the pottatoes, go cover it witha lid and let it sit for maybe 20 minutes . then it should be done
