Dark Tempest

60ml Spiced Rum  15ml Lime Juice 10ml Simple Syrup 15ml Ginger Cordial 100ml Soda Water 6 dashes chocolate bitters Add the lime juice, sugar syrup and ginger cordial to a mixing glass, then add the soda water and stir briefly and gently to combine. Carefully pour that mixture into a highball glass over ice. Float the rum on top, then finally add the chocolate bitters. Garnish with a pirate ship and anchor.

POND SCUM COCKTAIL. . . Dear New Zealand I blame you for my love/obsession with this utterly bonkers drink. . . 2 bananas, 750ml of orange juice, 750ml apple juice or 1.5Litres of Tropical juice and a heaped dessert spoon of Spirulina Powder. . . Blitzed until frothy and the bananas are magically gone and drink. . . This amount does my son and I 2 days worth. You only need 1 glass of this a day for a couple of days then give yourself a break for a couple of days. . . Spirulina is bonkers with iron and all sorts of vitamins and minerals. I can definitely feel the difference when I’ve had it to when I haven’t. . . Why “Pond Scum Cocktail” I hear you ask... Spirulina is a green algae that has been grown in ponds, harvested and dried for use... when it’s blitzed it looks exactly how we named it. We aren’t afraid of names in this house in fact the weirder the better. I had boys the more horrific it sounded the more they wanted to eat or drink it.
