Last Kingdom Season 4 thoughts

SPOILERS!!!

1. Finan is somehow even more lovely! Uncle/babysitter Finan is awesome and makes me want fanfic of his tragic book backstory and maybe so future what ifs.

2. Finan stressing about 'the sickness' made me think of present times but chuckle for once. Obvious 'the sickness' whatever it be (flu? not an infectious disease expert so idk) was serious and deadly but his reactions and paranoia made me smile. Any reference to pandemics in anything seems odd in light of current event but for some reason this had the opposite

3. S1-S3 I did not like Ælswith...but now she's one of my favs!

4. Same for Æthelred, though he'll never be a fav but he went for remorse in the end

5. With Eadith, I didn't like her at first but she quickly proved, to be really cool and a great add in to the core group. I really hope they have some romance with Finan, but Finan's my fav

6. I could also Æthelflæd and Eadith in fanfic as a couple

7. Æthelflæd is my queen!!! I knew it was coming because history spoilers but am glad it did. But screw you to the patriarchal (christian) bs that has her vowing to be chaste an not even considering her in the first place!

8. On that regard, I thought this season had a lot of men being useless and the women who have sense doing their best to show their awesomeness! Pawnee Goddesses, hear my womanly roooooooaaaaaarrrrr! Basically the women characters shined in this season imo. They were strong and steadfast to their duties (to country, to truth, to themselves, to personal growth). Ælswith, Æethelflæd, Stiorra, Eadith, Brida, etc.

9. Sigtryggr is a very interesting new character and adversary because he is a lot like Uhtred and Alfred in terms of how he values cunning and planning and seems to value being cautious and knowledgable of one's foes rather than the impetuous anger and/or greed driven motives of Brida and other Danish adversaries we've seen. I think he will be an interesting opponent for Uhtred if he ever faces him again.

10. Steappa's death was the worst, both visually and emotionally.

11. No that was a lie, Beocca. That was gut wrenching. I felt it coming, but it still was a gut twister. 😭

12. With Æthelwold gone Athelhelm (sp?) is the new snake in the grass! He and Ælflæd are both the worst but in different ways.

13. Brida...never my favorite, I nonetheless loved her swagger this season post-Wealas. 🤰🏻🖖🏻 Full-term pregnant warrior woman in battle was something I never knew I needed...but that might just be part of my whole pregnancy thing (i.e. Wynonna Earp 😍). However, Uhtred not giving her Valhalla when she asked was probably his worst mistake. I'm interested to see where they take her character.

14. Æthelstan is positively the cutest little ætheling ever! I hope Finan has more scenes with him as he grows up with Uhtred and co.

15. Stiorra looks soooooo much like Gisela it's ridiculous 😂

16. Where is Uhtred-ling no. 3? Osbert? He'd be around 7-10 yrs or so?? Time on this show is confusing sometimes.

17. Edward needs to grow up and be less annoying
