I know that we're in the middle of the mini bang and you probably already have plans for the next big bang but have you all ever considered a reverse big bang where the artist create their art first and then there's claims for the writers to choose one and they write something based off the art and the idea/prompt/whatever that the artist gives them? I think it would be pretty cool and might shake things up a bit if people were interested in doing that
Hi, thank you for the idea!
We have talked about it (now) and we might do that in the future! The COBB20 will be a completely normal big bang, but we will definitely try and shake things up a little for the COBB21, and other big bangs in the future!

COBB20 FAQ
You can also view this post on our blog right here, this post is mainly for mobile users.
Who are the mods and where can I find them?
The mods for these events are currently Mod Simon and Mod Teddy. They’re both active Carry On fans and you can find them at @isthisagoodkiss (Mod Simon) or @temporary-teddycup (Mod Teddy).
What event is happening right now?
Right now we are hosting the Carry On Big Bang 2020, the second Big Bang to happen in this fandom.
What does that mean?
A big bang is a collaborative fandom event in which writers and artists come together to create masterpieces. Basically, the writers write a bunch of (usually quite long) fic and the artists choose one each (“claiming”) and make art for the fic. Then it will all be posted more or less at once in an explosion of fanwork.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up via the forms we will post on our blog on January 1st!
Do I need experience or a certain age to participate?
No. Everyone is welcome.
Do I need to be a certain age to make explicit content?
No, but we ask you to keep your limits in mind. We trust our participants to know themselves best. We do not take any responsibility in case you are exposed to something that was not suitable for you.
I want to participate, but I’m afraid I’m not good enough. Do I have to have a certain skill level?
No. Everyone, absolutely everyone, is welcome. All art is beautiful and to be encouraged.
Can I sign up as an artist and a writer?
Yes, but please don’t make art for your own fic. The main aspect of this is the collaboration, don’t ruin the fun for yourself!
What is a “pinch-hitter”?
A pinch-hitter is basically an emergency artist or writer, additionally to being a normal participant. So if a writer is left without an artist because their partner dropped out, we will contact a pinch-hitter artist to spontaneously make art for this fic, too.
I missed sign-ups. Can I still participate?
Unfortunately, no. You will have to wait until the next round of the Carry On Big Bang.
Can I drop out?
Yes, you can. There is a more detailed description in our Rules.
When can I start writing?
As soon as you want! We encourage you to start soon so that you can finish on time.
How much can I write?
You can write as much as you want, but we ask you to keep your limitations in mind. Please don’t overwork yourself.
When can I start making art?
As soon as you have discussed what you’re going to do with your writing partner.
What is Preview Day?
On preview day, all artists will receive a list of available fics and their titles, tags, and summaries. They will read the list and decide on a few favourites, which they will claim a few days later.
How do I claim a fic?
On claiming day we will post links to the fic summaries. You will fill in your top five fics and hope you get one of them. Keep in mind: First come, first serve.
When will I be matched?
We will work on matching the participants as soon as Claims close! The teams will be announced on March 9th, 2020. You can catch a more detailed look at the schedule and all the deadlines here.
How does matching work?
The writers will submit summaries, tags and other details of their works in progress and the artists will each choose their top three picks. The mods then sort out which artist gets which story. It’s a first-come-first-serve system, so the artist who picked a story first will get it.
Will we get reminders?
Yes, you will. There will be email reminders sent out a few days prior to the deadlines.
What if I need more time?
Please contact the mods so that we can help you out. We are always willing to work around problems and never mad at you, promise. We love you all.
Can I write AUs, crossovers and the like as well?
You can write whatever you want, just keep in mind that finding an interested artist might be more difficult the more niche your fic is.
Do I need to include Snowbaz?
No, of course not. This big bang is Carry On themed, so feel free to explore anything to do with it.
Are writers required to have a beta reader?
No, but it is most certainly allowed.
When should I post my works?
You will be assigned a specific date to post your fic as a team.
Where should I post my works?
Wherever you want. We recommend ao3 (a free fanworks-hosting site) where we will put them all in a collection, but you’re not required to post there.
You do, however, have to submit a masterpost to this blog, where the fic and the art, or at least a link to each, are included.
Do I need to have an AO3 account?
You do not. But if you wish to have one, the mods can help you with setting one up.
Will there be an AO3 collection to add my works to?
Yes. There are collections for the COBB2018 and COMB2019 and there will also be one for the COBB20.
My partner isn’t being respectful and/or responding. What do I do?
Please contact the mods. You can either do so by sending us an email to [email protected] or an ask to this Tumblr. You can also send an ask or a message to the Mods on their own blogs if you feel more comfortable with that.
What if I am super confused and have no idea what to do right now?
Relax! The emails we send will all contain instructions on how to proceed. It’s alright if you don’t understand everything right now, as long as you have the basics. And you can still send us an ask or message if you have any questions left we didn’t answer here.

COBB20 Rules
You can also view this set of rules on our blog here. This post is mostly for mobile followers.
GENERAL RULES
You are expected to treat everyone participating in this project, including the mods, with respect. We do not tolerate shaming of any kind. Offensive or disrespectful behavior will result in getting kicked from this year’s COBB.
You must keep up with the schedule. We will send reminders a few days prior to important events. If you cannot meet a deadline by any means, please inform the mods and we will work something out.
You may register as both a writer and an artist, but due to the collaborative nature of this event, you will not be able to make art for your own story.
You must respond to check-in emails within three days unless otherwise specified in the email.
We might send updates or further information anytime, as well as reminders and check-ins, so don’t forget to check your mailbox from time to time.
You are not to discuss or promote your work with the general public until after the works have been posted. You are permitted, however, to post teasers before your posting date. (And after posting, you may promote the shit out of your work, of course.)
Your team will be given a specific date for posting. Please talk to your partner to make sure you post at the same time. Keep time zones in mind!
You may post your work(s) anywhere you like, as long as you send the mods a link after posting.
We highly encourage you to consider posting either on Tumblr or on AO3, though.
You may drop out before matching without any consequences, just contact the mods. You are asked not to drop out after matching, for that would leave someone without a partner.
If you, however, need to drop out due to emergency reasons, please let the mods know so we can work something out. There will be no judgment or punishments.
(Yes, simple stress or fatigue does count as an emergency. You know yourself best and it’s your decision to make. You get to have the last word in this.)
WRITER RULES
Fics must have a minimum word count of 4000. There is no maximum.
Fics must be unpublished and specifically written for this big bang. You are allowed to use prompts, though.
If you are co-writing, each writer must sign up separately. There will be space to name a co-writer on the form.
Fics must be posted on your assigned day. Chaptered posting for multi-chapter fics is permitted, but we ask you to post the second chapter after posting has ended because we want every work to get the same amount of attention. (If you want a more detailed explanation, please message the mods.)
Your fic may be part of a series but must be able to be read as a stand-alone.
You may register as both a writer and an artist, but due to the collaborative nature of this event, you are asked not to make art for your own fic.
ARTIST RULES
Permitted artwork is drawings (traditional and digital), edits, songs, videos (minimum length 40 seconds) or anything else you and your writer agree on.
You must create at least one piece of art. You can make more if you want to, of course, but it must be finished before the final check-in.
Artists can claim more than one fic. That means, if there are more fics than artists, a second round of claims will be opened, which will be entirely voluntary.
You may register as both a writer and an artist, but due to the collaborative nature of this event, you are asked not to make art for your own fic.
