2024 menu planning
I came across the idea of making a menu of things to do in the new year rather than resolutions. Sounds like fun!
Visit Palm Springs with my camera in tow and also a lot of sunscreen
More time in swimming pools
Make a chic garment from my Saint Sebastian fabric
Host/attend at least one party that combines glamour and queer filth
Find another album as sexy as Age of Pleasure and listen to it a lot
Go to a bathing spa
Add at least one more dish to dinner rotation that is heavy on vegetables with colours other than potato
Find the most decadent tisane and drink it in the afternoons
Slowly replace mismatched dishes with cobalt blue fiestaware
Fully embrace how much I don't like boho chic and do like things to match
Keep making wardrobe pieces so that I can throw on two garments and an underpant in the morning and feel dressed more days of the week
Sew up test undergarments until I can also make those in comfy shapes and sizes
Feel good enough about my entire physical being to take selfies more than the last three years

Retro Kitchens
A retro kitchen is a place where a few details can make a big impact. These include Fiestaware, vintage art prints, and a checkered tile floor. Incorporate accents like Coca-Cola and Fiesta plates, and you can easily transform your space into a retro paradise. There are so many details to consider when designing a retro kitchen, but these few simple additions will make all the difference in the look and feel of your room.
Checkered tile floor
One of the first design elements in a retro kitchen is a checkered tile floor. This classic style gives a kitchen a vintage look, and can be very striking. Many homeowners choose black and white checkered tiles for a bold look, while others choose pastel or multicolored checks. Whatever your design preference, a checkered floor will add visual interest and warmth to any room. Here are a few ideas for how to incorporate a checkered floor into your design plan.
To create a retro look, use linoleum or checkered tile on the floor. Add vintage pieces to the room, like Simon Brown faucets and old-school wood cabinets. To add a vintage feel, choose faucets in nickel or brass. Another great option for a retro look is a black and white checkered floor. Paint the walls of your kitchen a warm, inviting color, such as yellow or brown.
Fiestaware
Invest in a vintage-inspired Fiestaware collection for your retro kitchen. This dinnerware line was first introduced in 1936 and is now available in over thirty different colors. The original colors of Fiestaware include red, cobalt, light green, ivory, turquoise, yellow, and chartreuse. Some of the colors have changed over the years, but they will always remain popular. They are also dishwasher-safe and lead-free.
The colors of Fiestaware are reminiscent of the 1950s and 1940s. The brand was popular then, and it’s now one of the most popular brands of china in the world. In fact, Fiestaware has been a favorite of many celebrities, including Martha Stewart. You might even have inherited some Fiestaware from your grandmother, who may have passed them on to you!
Coca-Cola accents
Incorporating Coca-Cola accents in your kitchen will add a touch of fun and vintage charm to your space. Coca-Cola posters and banners add classic appeal to your space. Using Coca-Cola accessories as accents in your kitchen will also define focal points. They are easy to install and look great. The best part is that you can incorporate them into any theme you want.
When decorating with a retro kitchen theme, choose the color scheme you love. Choose a primary color, or mix several tones for a fun look. For example, you can use powder blue walls with pink cabinets and red appliances. You can also use mint green walls and white accents, and then add pops of teal. When choosing your accent colors, don’t forget to consider the overall look of the room and the color of your furniture.
Vintage art prints
A large part of the retro look in kitchens is the use of vintage art prints. These are usually commercialized images of a particular era, such as the 1950s. Having vintage pictures in the kitchen makes the space feel nostalgic, and the retro-style images are an excellent way to capture the mood of a bygone era. You can also use vintage pictures of famous places and objects to decorate your kitchen.
If you’re looking for a unique way to decorate your kitchen, you can use bold colours like orange. This is one of the most popular retro colours, but it can look overwhelming in a small room. A great way to use this colour is to carefully place it on the walls. Open shelves can also help you display your retro artworks. You can also hang vintage art prints on the ceiling to create a beautiful space.
Tin signs
The retro style in your kitchen can be created using tin signs. These vintage-inspired signs can be cut into various shapes and sizes. Some are large enough to be hung as accent pieces, while others are small enough to be placed on the floor. You can create a mosaic picture wall by layering small tin signs on top of one another. This will allow you to mix and match the sizes of the signs while showcasing your favorite things. For example, you can hang a diner sign in your kitchen, a food branded sign, or a railroad crossing sign.
You can find a variety of vintage signs for your kitchen, from classic to modern. You can choose from signs such as Eat sign, Moms Diner, and Hot Coffee. These signs will be great conversational pieces and will remind guests of those special moments in their lives. You can also use old-fashioned restaurant signs and drink advertisements, which are perfect for retro kitchens. Just remember to place the sign where guests can see it, as it will create a fun atmosphere.

How To
How to design the kitchen you’ll be able to enjoy cooking in for years
Kitchen designs should be designed with functionalities, aesthetics, and practicality. It is important to plan your space carefully so you feel at home and can prepare delicious food, entertain friends, or just relax after a hard day.
Here are some suggestions to help you plan the perfect kitchen.
Determine the layout that best suits your needs. The three most popular kitchen layouts are L-shaped, U-shaped, and galley. L-shaped kitchens are great for entertaining and can easily accommodate multiple cooks. U-shaped kitchens work well for families that spend a lot time in the kitchen. They offer ample storage and counter space. Galley kitchens can be used in small spaces and are easy to navigate.
Look into different types of cabinetry options and choose quality products. There are many options to choose from, depending on your budget. High-end cabinets can pay huge dividends. They’ll last longer, look better, and provide superior protection against moisture, humidity, and temperature changes.
You should choose a color scheme you feel happy with. Find a color palette that is vibrant and brings joy to your kitchen, no matter what your favorite color is. You can use bright colors or soft pastels. Be sure to match the rest.
You should find a balance between beauty and function. Your kitchen doesn’t have to be all-encompassingly beautiful. Sometimes you need more to pay attention to functionality than looks. However, you don’t need to forget about decorative elements. You can create a unique focal point by using a combination of glass, metal, brass, ceramics, stone, wood, and other materials.
Create a comfortable environment. When designing your kitchen, remember that comfort should always come first. It’s likely that you will spend a lot time in your kitchen so it should feel warm and inviting. Add some seating areas, lighting fixtures, and other features that will help you relax after a long day.
Make sure to store everything. The kitchen should provide ample storage space for all your cooking tools and utensils. Consider adding cabinets to your kitchen when you are planning a remodel.
Include a pantry. A pantry allows you to efficiently organize and store food items. A separate pantry will allow you to store more supplies and prevent clutter from building up in your kitchen.
Consider new flooring. The look and feel of your kitchen will greatly depend on the type of flooring you choose. There are many options available. If you have a small space, consider running the same flooring throughout the house to avoid the need for transition pieces.
Plan for expansion. One of the biggest mistakes people make when remodeling their kitchens is not including enough room for future growth. You can add a walk-in closet or sliding doors to your existing countertop space if you are thinking of expanding.
Be sure to let plenty of light in your kitchen. Being able to see your work is the best way you can enjoy your kitchen. So, if you plan on using your kitchen as a family gathering place, ensure you leave lots of natural sunlight streaming through the windows.
Install energy-efficient appliance. Remodeling your kitchen should be about energy efficiency. This means making sure that you replace old appliances with newer models that are more energy efficient.
Budget wisely. Make sure you do an in-depth analysis of your finances before shopping for appliances, cabinets, and other kitchen items. It will help you narrow down the options and save money in the end.
Designate a space for entertaining. Whether you enjoy hosting dinner parties or entertaining friends over drinks, a designated area for dining will allow your guests to socialize and gather.
You can incorporate an island. An island is a great addition for any kitchen.

I get my impulsiveness directly from my maternal grandmother. In a completely granny move this week I got tired of the stack of mismatched but wholly functional dinner plates we have and replaced them with a stack of matching cobalt blue fiestaware plates.
Next on the list is the stack of mismatched bread and butter plates but I am literally leaving the country for a month starting next Friday so this is a very stupid time to impulsively replace all our dinnerware.

Canning Season Reflections – Sharon Palmer, The Plant Powered Dietitian
Learn about the culinary, nutritional, sustainability, and cultural benefits of canning produce. I have so many memories about my earliest culinary experiences. I can smell the coffee brewing in my Aunt Prussia’s charming house in Yakima, Washington, which she served in her old Fiestaware mix-matched cups and saucers (I loved the cobalt blue one the best!). I can remember rolling out sugar…

After Barbara and I had seen a few uranium glass dishes by the fiestaware company we wanted to see some of the other colors so Barbara ordered a nice cobalt blue stoneware bowl set. They do look good with an orange in them. Actually the orange looks more appealing to eat then it does on its own on the table. https://www.instagram.com/p/CZf6UEMFvU7/?utm_medium=tumblr
