I NEED TO HEAR SOME OF YOUR ELEMENTARY SHERLOCK HEADCANONS (to me this man is so violently autistic it’s actually insane)

omg this is throwbackkk i haven’t watched elementary in forever,,

(also. every sherlock holmes adaptation ever is violently autistic i don’t make the rules)

-he’s on the aro spectrum, and technically bisexual?? like “oh yeah i would get with a guy just never done it yet”

-literally the biggest trans ally ever. once beat someone half to death for misgendering ms hudson

-he’s allergic to almonds and every time joan eats almonds he accuses her of attempting to assassinate him

-tries to set up joan with people he knows she’ll be annoyed with. not bc of some deeper meaning just bc he likes to annoy her

-every time people mistake him and joan for a couple they cackle. people feel very awkward and they think it’s silly

-knits sweaters, blankets, and little toys for clyde

-really likes gum. he steals it from houses they investigate

-watches true crime and criticizes the police work

-bought everyone at the precinct “acab” tshirts bc he likes causing trouble and enjoys reminding folks that he is in fact NOT a cop

-despises modern slang except for “womp womp” and “yippie”

Love that moment in an Elementary episode where the camera slowly pans up on a sleeping Joan, and you get thirty seconds to guess how Sherlock chose to wake her up this time.

Elementary finale got me feeling things I don’t need to feel this week

CBS’ Elementary is everything to me.

Between the “i made you breakfast” and the “i’ll see you at home” and the “when was the last time you slept?” and the “i know you didn’t eat so i brought you your leftovers” and clyde going from “pet tortoise” to “our pet tortoise” and the “we’re two people who love each other” …

They are individuals in their own right and yet depend on each other so deeply, but it’s not co-dependency, they actively choose each other everyday all the time. They are two halves of a whole but they are not incomplete as individuals, rather they lift each other up. It’s so nice to see a holmes/watson relationship that’s so unproblematic and wholesome and loving. I love this adaptation. I just love them.

pairing: steve harrington x fem!henderson!reader part one

-sneaking him into your house for sleepovers

-him complaining whenever you dedicated time to schoolwork instead of him (even if you allowed him to sit with you while you worked)

-both of you being slightly territorial but completely unwilling to admit it, which was always entertaining for your friends to watch in action

-occasionally giving him a hard time over all the girls he dated before you just to see him get all worked up and defensive

-letting robin take the passenger seat when he drives you both to school, until he randomly starts picking you up first and doubling back by his house for robin afterward ("what? you're too nice to tell robin to get in the back, so i had to take matters into my own hands")

-dustin referring to you and steve as every famous duo under the sun •bonnie and clyde •romeo and juliet •holmes and watson

-understanding all the kids' d&d terminology, which only ever surprises steve ("babe, how do you know this stuff? am i the only normal one here?")

-randomly making a statement supporting queer rights during a conversation with steve and robin which eventually led to her coming out to you

-punching billy in the face in the school parking lot one time because he was being racist giving lucas a hard time, which steve was actually pretty mad at you for (“y/n, he could’ve seriously hurt you! do you not understand that?”)

-taking mid-day naps together after you got out of school/he got out of work

-steve being the best listener when you just needed someone to rant to •mumbling a supportive mhmmm whenever you made a specific point during the rant •you rambling for 5 minutes straight, then sighing and saying, “ya know?”, to which steve nods and says “i hear ya, babe” •when your anger fades a little and you ask him, “am i just being crazy?” his immediate response is something like ‘absolutely not! those dickheads are lucky i don't send el to fling them off a rooftop or something'

-dustin barreling into your room while preemptively covering his eyes and yelling threats every time he realizes steve is over and you have the door closed

-him offering to drive you whenever you mentioned having to go somewhere to him

-constantly having to explain lord of the rings/the hobbit references to him (“babe, please just read the books”)

-when you ask what's gonna happen when you go away for college, he looks genuinely dumbfounded before shrugging and saying, "i thought i'd just go wherever you go"

-a double date with nancy and jonathan that was both horribly awkward and incredibly fun

-spearheading all the kids' crazy plans, which drives steve insane

-steve looking at you and saying, “these are the people that are gonna babysit our kids one day” every time your friends did anything abnormal/ridiculous •while dustin, mike, lucas, and will have a full-blown argument over their d&d campaign •after robin trips and face-plants on the walk from her front door to steve's car •when el is using her powers to adjust the tv antenna so no one has to get up from their seats •after nancy convinced everyone to go back into the upside down/face vecna despite the terrible odds

-your mom adoring him, which kind of annoyed dustin but also made his heart feel whole

-his fingers hooked in your belt loops in a crowd to keep from getting separated

-him playing with your fingers while you talked to dustin about something that didn’t interest him

-listening to him sing in the shower when he didn’t realize how loud he was being

-giving him tons of nicknames but only reusing the ones that made him blush •lover •stevie (which he forbade anyone else from calling him) •batman (originally because of his iconic nail bat, but then a double entendre of sorts after his encounter with vecna's bats)

-him knowing your favorite song off the top of his head even before vecna came around

Indie 5-0 with Grant Green Jr.

Growing up, Grant Green Jr. heard a constant flow of music from his Grandfather, John Green. Playing recordings of Grant Green being a proud father, the younger Green heard guitar playing all the time, the first instrument Jr. learned was the harmonica at the age of five. He would watch and listen to an old blues player walk down the alley playing the harmonica and ask his Grandfather to buy him one. His Grandfather bought him a C harmonica and soon he was playing what he heard the blues Musician playing.

We got a chance to speak with Grant Green Jr. in this edition of Indie 5-0, so without further ado, let’s dive in:

Did your father teach you guitar?

No my father never taught me anything on guitar, He wanted me to be a doctor or a Lawyer, I learned by watching him and mimicking what I saw him doing, My father never took me seriously until he heard me playing with his keyboard player, I used to rehearse some of the new members of his band because I knew my father’s songs and one day I started to play a song I wrote with his keyboard player and my father came down the stairs and asked who’s song is that, and the keyboard player said that’s your son’s song and from that point on he took me seriously! 

I played with Organist greats Groove Holmes, Jimmy McGriff, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Melvin Rhyne, Gene Ludwig. 

Drummer great’s Max Roach, Jimmy Cobb, Bernard Purdie, Clyde Stubblefield, Grady Tate, and Cindy Blackmon.

Saxophonists Lou Donaldson and Bobby Watson.

Singers Leon Thomas, Col Bruce Hampton, and so on.

If you could perform with anyone you haven’t yet performed with, who would it be and why?

If I could perform with someone one would be Sting! I have always loved his music because there was always this jazz element in his later work that was very melodic, I am a jazz musician, that loves all types of music and also Burt Bacharach because he is the king of modern melodic music and a huge catalog of music!

What’s the best part of being part of Masters of Groove? How did you all get the group started?

The greatest thing about playing with the Masters of Groove was playing with these musical legends! Organist Reuben Wilson was on the Blue Note label with my father in the sixties and my father recorded on his love bug album in 1969 so it was a honor playing with him and Bernard Purdie is the world’s most recorded drummer, he has played with everyone from Aretha Franklin to Steely Dan, there was so much history there and I learned a lot playing with them and being around them!

Reuben recorded on one of my records Jungle Strut that I did for a Japanese record company in the late 90’s when I lived in NY so about a year later I got a call to do a recording session and later that week I was sent the music and was the music from Dr. No, the James Bond movie and recorded the album. The Masters of Groove meets Dr. No and the album got critical acclaim! And that’s how the band started.

What’s your favorite song to perform and why?

Well I have many but I guess It’s Just my Imagination by the Temptations as a kid I always loved them and I lived in Detroit when I was a teenager my favorite Temptation was Eddie Kendricks and one day I was going to St Louis from Detroit where I was born and I ran into Eddie Kendricks and he was a wonderful human being! I sat with him and he bought me lunch, I will never forget that! And he was also the lead singer on Just my Imagination, I remember singing it at a concert in Spain and the coolest thing happened everyone speaks Spanish in Spain but everyone sang the chorus in English, I thought that was the coolest thing ever!

What are you most excited about for your Empty Room performance? 

It’s a small band no keyboards no percussion and a lot of improvisation so we can stretch out more and be more creative interacting with people online It’s something different for me and also challenging for me because I don’t have have the other instruments Just bass and drums to tell a story!
