☝️ in my mind i can definitely see crackpot n hofnarr being a queerplatonic thing while they were still coworkers but i think the mental strain their jobs end up taking on both of them + the fact that they're Forced to see each other at work every day puts a HUGE damper on their relationship, hence why they end up going their separate ways after the fall of nexus instead of sticking together (well. in my mind it's more like "hofnarr left nexus city & assumed that crackpot either died in the collapse, or was surviving on hys own"- not really keen on chancing which one it was, he never bothered to find out. especially considering crackpot would've been SORE about hofnarrs hand in abetting jeb's betrayal)

tricky & crackpot the insaneoid cult leader, on the other hand, get on way better- in either case the main issue preventing their relationship from really developing was their own, personal mental cocktail of issues that weren't being dealt with & the stress of their jobs (which is kind of causing the personal issues anyways). taking nexus out of the picture helps them get WAY closer n actually develop a healthy(? as healthy as two murderous zombie cannibals can get) dynamic

tldr: Yes but i think there's important nuance to it- they would NOT be great for eachother at their jobs w/ all the shit they both have piling up, but they WOULD work out way better given a couple years out of work and plenty of time to become completely different people

I had this sitting in my drafts for a hot minute, and if I shared any more of my thoughts then this post would be ridiculously long, so enjoy the short versions.

Dark Ace will always be number one though.

Arygyn/Ayrgyn the Skeelur

Look at him. How could I not? XD He's a walking pride parade and such a fun character for me to work with. He's one of the primary victims of the angst stick.

Fun fact: When I first got back into the show I despised this clownbird because he was the one who pulled the last-minute prophecy plot out of his feathered arse. I got stupidly angry about that prophecy.

2. Aerrow (plus Radarr if you're going for the package deal)

I found this particular image of him in the discord server's refs channel funny whoops

He's got your typical 2000s protagonist energy, but he's got his sweet goofball moments that are really endearing to me. He's also a complete dork, just watch his attempted speech in Age of Heroes. He has no idea what he's doing and I love him for it.

Ignore the angst.

3. Master Cyclonis

She's a delightful little shit. The sass, the fashion, the lack of impulse control and morals. It's very fun to write her in Buridan's Storm.

4. Hmmmm... Harrier

He is wonderful angst fodder. Everybody in the Discord knows what I did at this point.

5. Lastly, Imma pick Lightning Strike. Or at least my fanon version of him.

This guy got a lot of work done lol. I turned him into a 'history repeats' narrative and a parallel to Aerrow. Two child soldiers, two generations of the same family being thrown into the same cycle of war and violence as those who came before. Both doomed by this awful 'prophecy' that they're only told about at the last minute.

I think it's poetic.

Apologies for getting to this late. The short answer is no - but it probably won't stay like that forever. I was waiting to respond until I had something to show for it, but:

I ended up becoming severely disorganized and unsure of where I would be taking the story, so all of this time away was used planning it out, and I ultimately decided that it would probably be best if I wrote this in text first and then illustrated it, so I would know what I was doing.

Random Dark Ace Headcanons

His hair is a mix of feathers and hair, which is a common trait in Atmos humans that he shares with Finn, Ravess and Snipe.

Keeping his hair short is a pain in the ass because of them. One wrong move with the hair clippers and it's pain and blood and cursing because he accidentally hit a pinfeather.

He's got sharp teeth, which is likely due to having a non-human ancestor somewhere on his mother's side. Probably a werewolf.

As a result, he has taken off several fingers throughout his lifetime, and there is one recorded instance of an all-out mauling where he's bitten someone to the point of lethal injury (his hands were tied. Literally)

People find the teeth thing obscenely attractive and he is Incredibly weirded out by it

Despite how he acts around Aerrow, he's very good with kids

He's been a guest teacher at several Talon Academies

He has a secret goddaughter

His mother was an accomplished Talon captain. She lead a team known as the Red Harts, and sadly died in battle to a Sky Knight when Dark Ace was six

Arygyn actually taught him and the old Storm Hawks team for a brief time. Ace's lesson involved being chased around the forests of Terra Fauna by a berserk Wallop (who turned out to just be a paid actor). The clownbird never explained what the lesson was supposed to be, but Dark Ace did actually learn something from it. Maybe he learned a bit too much.

Killing Lightning was intentional. Killing the others was not.

Up until just before Payback, he was going easy on Aerrow.

Red eyes are a very common trait on Cyclonia. It's a result of the Terra's core being made up of high-grade firebolts.

Right around the time the show started, Dark Ace started exhibiting a phobia of mannequins. If he does know what started it, he doesn't say.

He's aroace as fuck.

👁️ EYE - what colour are their eyes? do people notice their eyes? is there anything special about them (shows emotion easily, literally magical...)?

Normally? Blue. Not a lot of people pay attention to his eyes because of how flashy and animated the rest of him is. But those who do look closely at his eyes will notice that they are often open just a little bit too wide, and his irises flash just a bit too bright.

It's probably a trick of the light, right?

🌋 VOLCANO - how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or a instant explosion?

I'm going to say it's a slow boil. Most attempts to rile him up and push his buttons are met with sass and a smile. Can't piss him off if he pisses you off first. One surefire way to get him to shout at someone is to do something incredibly stupid and bad for your health. Though that's more panic than anger.

On the occasions when he does truly boil over though, his anger is of a cold sort. The kind that cuts you deep but doesn't bleed. Furthermore, he's quiet. You know you're screwed when he stops talking.

�� EARTH - will they give up the world for someone they love? is this decision easy for them?

He'd give up the world in the end. Duty is important to him, but devotion always wins out despite his claims to the contrary. And he knows that.

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they're in love?

Oh it's noticeable alright. This man goes from sassy clown to absolute goof. He'll flirt and be silly with someone he likes but if they flirt back? He becomes a living puddle of goo that's scrambling to put together a comeback. Expect birb noises and easily-ruffled feathers.

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

I'll give you two:

Arygyn is very good with young kids🥺If a child is struggling with a nightmare or is nervous about trying something new (i.e. climbing up a rock wall or going to the doctor), he'll do his best to help calm their nerves with distractions and games.

His hair is actually formed from feathers and he likes it when someone he cares about preens them for him. Puts him right to sleep if he's tired.
