“Later.” You promised him, “Do you want anything?” You asked.

“You. On this bar?” Cal offered as he reached for his sunglasses in his pocket and perched them on the tip of his nose. The red tinted glasses did little to hide his meaning.

“I mean more of the drink variety.” You tried to ignore the heat in his gaze, “O-negative?”

“That’ll do.” Cal rumbled as he looked down into the club, his eyes clocking regulars and newcomers faster than you ever could.

the other day I got to try an apéritif of de Muller Iris vermouth rojo and it might have been the best alcohol i’ve ever tasted. it wasn’t just palatable as a spirit, it was wholly delicious. despite being 16% abv it tasted exactly like a cola, and not coca cola, but like the aromatic botanical drinks that were inspired by liqueurs in the first place

Yes, they did. And the combination of that and the clove oil means they were extra-harsh on your throat. But they smelled and tasted so wonderful.

In times of extreme stress, I desperately crave a clove cigarette. I haven't smoked in over 25 years, but the craving is still occasionally there.
