How Andrés Reisinger Brought his Digital ‘Take Over’ Series to the Physical Realm

Andrés Reisinger‘s now-iconic Take Over series quietly blossomed on a sleepless night ‘as a simple exercise of creation‘. Curious about the booming potential of Artificial Intelligence, the Argentinian artist began experimenting with his dream-like digital imagery, but this time at the scale of cities. In less than a year, what started as a personal artistic project quickly grew into show-stopping collaborations for physical iterations in cities like Jeddah and Miami and with brands like Hourglass Cosmetics in New York City and Golden Goose HAUS in Venice.

The series, which transcends geographical boundaries into the virtual plane, takes place in major international capitals such as London, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, and New York City, engulfing their historical architecture in surreal pink and white drapes, each one more playful and pleasing than the next.

Speaking of context, the distinct designs for each iteration — digital or physical — quietly reflect the cultural landscape in which they blossom. ‘Just as in the digital version, the physical ones speak of their hosting cities too,’ he says. In his digital series, furry Take Overs are found in colder cities like Amsterdam; inflatable patterns are set amid the sleek streets of Munich; voluptuous and sweeping drapes are cast upon the desertic planes of Dubai; and so on. Even for his real-life piece in Jeddah, the artist seems to recall traditional clothing or textiles with frilly edges bordering each layer of fabric. ‘Rather than a literal inspiration, I would say they are nods and interpretations of their cultural spirit that are reflected in small, almost imperceptible details of the installation,’ elaborates Reisinger.

Dubai loumand

tw: mention of s*icide and r*pe

I actually, unironically, like Dubai loumand. I looove the aesthetic, from the dark, corporate (?) clothing to the grey, post-apocalyptic, doomed house/ tomb. (one day i will have the words to articulate how much this aesthetic means to me 🤞🏽). Second, I love their fuckedupedness. Their brand of mess is my favourite brand! Third, I don't think Armand has as much control over Louis in Dubai as ppl think.

We see them making decisions together, e.g., what to do with the empty wall, how to handle Daniel/ the interview, etc. Armand doesn't keep Louis locked in the penthouse but he does make it so Louis doesn't want to leave. Or better yet, so Louis doesn't think it's safe to leave.

Armand vehemently opposes the interview but he still lets it happen. And then he hovers around to monitor it. That's how Armand exerts control in Dubai. His control is not total, it's around the edges. Like a parent building a sandbox for their child. This is why it's so fucked up. He's treating Louis like an owned, kept thing. But...I think he's doing it out of some good intention. Out of love (controversial ik).

Armand takes on (more) control of the relationship after the san fran incident. Its implied that before that he mostly let Louis do whatever he wanted - disappear for periods of time, fuck and kill loads of men, get high on drugs - but that incident was the worst of it. Louis tried to commit s*icide and Armand revealed his worst self (the gremlin). So he erased that memory as a fresh start but also to maintain a specific, positive image of himself for Louis (the nurse). I don't think he'd ever erased Louis' memories before this incident idk.

Anyway, Louis does have some independence in Dubai and he does imo voluntarily cede some control to Armand. And Armand is literally on suicide watch. Which is why he controls the env around Louis; to keep out any potential triggers (of which the interview is a HUGE one). We see this in 2x01 when Armand asks Louis to take a break. Louis refuses. Daniel thinks Armand is only asking bc he's hiding sth (which of course he is). Armand leaves them and then later Daniel is like yeah Armand was right, Louis should've taken that break. We also see it in 1x02 when Daniel asks (demands really) for the torn out diary pages detailing Claudia's r*pe (💔). Louis snaps and makes Daniel's hand shake violently. Armand rushes in and places a hand on Louis' shoulder to calm him down.

Throughout the interview, Armand is constantly doing damage control for Louis while making sure it's not too much for him. And Louis does the same thing when they get to Armand's part of the story. They're constantly exchanging soft touches and glances to calm each other down and it's soo fucking cute i could cry 😭

So to summarize, I don't think Armand's control is total or completely out of self interest. He's of course trying to preserve his own self-image as well as this facade of a happy/ functional marriage but I also think he's doing it out of a (*daniel voice*) fucked up idea about love.

I think this photogate scandal explains that theory - that someone can be bullied because of their perfect image. A lot of other celebs are able to shake off major scandals of they have a perfect public image. For example, if someone came and said a horrible thing about Meryl Streep most people would simply ignore it. But it's because there is a huge PR machinery behind a celeb,and a huge celeb is a huge money making opportunity for those directly linked to them. So everyone from the agent to the associated brand goes into salvage mode.

When it comes to Catherine though, because her position she does not and cannot rely on a project created narrative. she is not an celeb, or a performer, she is a famous person. And even though she has been in the public eye for nearly 20 years, her role wasn't even constitutionally relevant till 8th Sept 2022, the day she became Princess of Wales. And even now, it is because of the constitutionally relevant role that her husband has.

This uniqueness of her position, the subltle nuance of that, is hard for the layman to grasp. Especially an American audience that culturally is very celeb and money centric. I say this because I do believe that controversial opinions and the wildfire of speculations about her are majorly coming from American commentators. American social media creators who rely on 40/20 sec clips on tiktok and insta have found that "where is Kate" is the biggest most lucrative click bait right now, and everybody and their grandma now has an opinion on it.

We live in a world of Charlene, Dubai princesses, Thai prinesses, North Korean dictators daughters/sisters/wife but we don't touch that with a 100 ft pole. Because it's uncomfortable. Because we know that noone is going to do anything to look into that.

But Catherine and husband's relationship is a free for all, all day buffet. Because she made herself available and catered to public's sensibilities. And when she drew a boundary she wouldn't budge. So everyone's sentiments get hurt now. The same people who gossip about her now would happily call her a step Ford wife and a clothes horse but ohh and ahh over her coat dresses and shiny hair and lovely shoes.

Noone stops for a second to think that maybe this woman is feeling unwell, is recovering from a surgery, has a serious medical issue and would like to recover at home without having to put on makeup and fake small talk with strangers.

We cry about feminism and equality and women's rights, but only applaud women who exhibit overt ambition. If a woman wants to stay at home, and is able to afford that, it's problematic. We want a woman to value self love and self care but if she prioritizes her health and care above public opinion she is dragged through the mud. Her health, her looks, her morals, her husband's morals, integrity, family values, privacy, her children's health, children's right to privacy....everything is open to discussion. And it's ok.

It's shameful and appalling that not ONE journalist, not one person with power, not one paper, publication or news Network has publicly spoken out in her favour and called out the bullying. This is not a Photoshop issue. It's just disguised as one. This gleeful gossiping about her "disappearance" is a gross violation of her rights.

Everything you've said is spot on. It is 100% American busybodies driving the criticism, controversy, and scandal. We/they don't understand what it's like to have someone who is above celebrity because our culture sees celebrity fame as the objective end-goal, so we demand for everyone to fit into our model of celebrity.

And while I have to give Meghan the benefit of the doubt and agree that she may have been bullied at school, I don't think it was for being perfect. That's Kate's story. All Meghan has done, since 2016, is portray Kate's life story as hers.

Liam and Mia arrived in Dubai, after dropping off their things, they went on a desert Safari,  they had many activities but for Mia Dune Bashing and 

Sand Boarding was her favorite.

At the end of their Safari they enjoyed BBQ. Up

The activities made them quite tired. Once they got back to the hotel they took a nap, Liam had woken up an hour ahead of Mia, he made a few calls and took a few all their friends had called to check and see how things were going. 

After the call he just sat watching Mia sleeping, after about an hour he noticed her staring to stir. 

Mia's eyes slowly flutter open, it was still day but the black out curtains made the room fairly dark, but she could see Liam seated in the chair across from the bed.

“Babe what are you up to over there?

Liam had reached over and turned on the side lamp at this time

“Just watching the most beautiful woman in the world get her beauty rest.” He winked with a small smile. 

She could see the hunger in his eyes.but Liam grabbed her hand and pulled her up. “I have planed the rest of our evening out, come on let's get ready

After they got ready, they drove to the Aq@uarium and underwater zoo

He kissed her then they went to the spot where they were to watch the fireworks. The day was much hotter than the night. It was a good thing Mia brought a lite jacket along, they had a glass of champagne close to midnight. As they counted down Liam grabbed Mia's hand and asked her what type of life she wished for in 2024

“To keep being happy and loved, and my business to grow and prosper, and my family and friends old and new all the happiness and prosperity, I love you Liam and you have changed my entire world and experiences in life. 

At the stroke of Midnight, they kissed and cheered, but for both they were glad it was after Midnight

Again she could see desire in his eyes, but this time Liam could see the same in her eyes. 

He picked her up and rushed to the hotel elevators, once on the elevator they couldn't get enough of each other.
