Some traditions are completely off-limits to outsiders, like Yezidi, Druze, or Sun Dance. Some traditions seek converts like Christianity, Islam, or Buddhism. But the majority of traditions are somewhere else on that spectrum.

Speaking of traditions being purely “open” or “closed” is incredibly reductive. A great many traditions don’t actively seek members but may occasionally bring newcomers into the fold who prove themselves to be respectful and dedicated. Some traditions, despite their relative obscurity are enthusiastic to receive interested parties. Others will test potential recruits, some of whom will pass, some of whom will not. Still others are loose affinity groups with little in the way of formal membership, where people come and go. And overall, within any given tradition, different lineages or sects may not only take different approaches, but distinguish themselves from one another on this point.

Tumblr, I’m begging you, stop treating this like a black or white issue. It would be so much more productive to talk about attitudes of entitlement or humility and the present day effects of historical injustices than simply slapping a “no entry” sign on traditions you may not even belong to.

People going "Tumblr is shutting down!" kind of made me laugh cause I was like "What is going on they made an announcement?" and then I found out that they're basically saying less staff which means fewer updates and removing features that didn't go as planned and I'm like-

ok, where did y'all get this idea then-why is everyone going into mass hysteria and making something that's a 2 at worst into a 10? Then I had to remember I'm Tumblr and this is just normal Tumblr behavior.

It is!! Another little creature has arrived! And it's so fluffy too! Though that isn't gonna do much in this hot weather!

Here, have some food, little guy. And come inside! I'm sure the others would love to have you!

That's right guys, Rain Wool is back in business!! Now that I'm getting back into the swing of needle-felting and FINALLY have lots more core wool to make all sorts of projects with, it's only right that I keep on going with this project, especially since, after Saint, I'm only one away from being done with the slugcats! I apologize for waiting so long to continue on with this project, but going forward I hope to start felting more of these guys more frequently.

In the meantime, however, I'm happy to finally share this fluffy little green bean!

It probably isn't very visible in these images, but on the cheeks, arms, and tail I intentionally left the wool less felted in for a softer, fluffier appearance. Since I have barely any of the straight wool roving felters normally use for long hair, this is my general go-to method for fluffy creatures.

I still think he looks adorable though, and I'm so excited to be close to finishing the slugcats!

a drawing i did a few days ago that im extremely proud of. its about nonhumanity of course, about how a person is not their body, but how they see themselves. it represents my three kintypes: dragon, enderman and unicorn, and how phantom shifts can make them overlap sometimes over my physical body.

Okay, people understand that you don't just tag things "for exposure," right? If you slap a bunch of completely unrelated tags onto the end of your post, at best you're going to achieve the opposite of what you want because people are going to be annoyed at you, ignore your post entirely, and block you. At worst, people are going to (justifiably, because spamming unrelated tags like that is against the TOS) report you for spam.

It's bad enough to go into a tag and have to block a bunch of pornbots, but seeing someone fall for a fundraiser scam, answer said scam ask, and then tag their answer with a whole bunch of completely unrelated popular topics is just insane. At least the bots have an excuse for being brainless.
