location / starview drive-in
"I think I might have cleared out the snack bar." Penny giggled as she carefully climbed into the bed of her truck. She placed all the salty and sweet snacks between them, settling herself down on the cushy blanket they had laid out. Her hand dipped into the bucket of popcorn, tossing a few pieces of the buttery treat into her mouth. "Mm, movie popcorn is simply the best." Penny hummed in delight, washing down the snack with a sip of her cherry coke. After her talk with RJ, it was decided that Penny should take a small step back from her workload and invest more time in her personal life. She had allowed herself to be overwhelmed at work for the sake of making RJ and Lincoln's life easier, and she had paid the price with her panic attack. It was making her question her passion and dedication to the farm she grew up on.
"I'm so glad the drive-in is open again. It's one of my favorite things to do during the summer."

location / ver's palce
Thierry didn't know why he was standing in front of Ver's door right now. He was fairly certain that his face was the last one she wanted to see right now. The breakup with Jamal had turned his life completely upside down. Thierry did what he always did when his personal life became too much to deal with. He threw himself into his job. The cop had been working one double after the next, picking up whatever shift he could get his hands on. Thierry was exhausted, physically and mentally. All he wanted was one moment of rest. One moment of freedom from the painful ache in his heart. One moment of not thinking about how much he missed Jamal. Perhaps that was what brought him to Ver's place? She had always been a friend that brought him a sense of comfort. After knocking on her door, it wasn't long before she opened it. Thierry was certain he looked a mess. He felt utterly pathetic standing there like some lost puppy. "I'm sorry to show up unexpected like this. I just.. can we talk?"

location / the glass onion
Felipe glanced over the menu the waiter had placed at his table, mulling over the different options. He was still making his rounds at local hotspots in town and The Glass Onion was next on his list. Being something of a foodie, Felipe was looking forward to checking the popular restaurants in Providence Peak. As he flipped the menu over, his gaze caught sight of a lone woman sitting at the table across from him. The fashion designer politely cleared his throat. "Excuse me, I don't mean to bother you, but I was wondering what you would recommend? It's my first time here."

Making good on his promise, Albie had showed up the dog park early, ready to throw the ball for Zeppelin a couple of times and surely oust Verda as someone with a penchant for dramatics. It was on the rather cold side of spring still, so he made sure he was layered up. It wasn’t long for his layers – an outer coat, scarf and sweater – to have been peeled off, Albie feeling sweaty and a little lightheaded, the sheepadoodle panting at him in a way that made the chef think he was being mocked. “Wow, you were…deadly serious that he just won’t quit.” He called out to Verda, who had been watching them in amusement, careful not to interact with the ball in anyway, hoping that if he acted like it wasn’t there, the dog would forget about it. But he didn’t, just barked in its general direction, until Albie picked it up and lobbed it as far as he could, giving the two humans a short reprieve before the demanding animal returned.

location: end-of-the-summer bonfire bash
The hit of acid Milo took before arriving at the bonfire was finally starting to kick in. With a cheap beer in one hand and a blunt in the other, he made his way over to the raging fire, scanning the crowds for any familiar faces. Like usual, Milo had come to the event on his own. He never knew where the night would lead him when he partied, and it was easier to only have to worry about himself. Passing through the scattered groups of people, his blue hues locked gazes with the attractive baker who owned the Sweet Spot. Smirking mischievously, Milo strolled over to the brunette. “Hey there, cupcake. Lookin’ scrumptious as ever. You here alone?”

closed starter for verda durmaz ! ( @verdadurmaz ) location — the sweet spot.
When Niko had opened his own shop he’d been welcomed into the circle of business owners Downtown fairly graciously; he figured that was at least part of the reason that he’d been determined to do the same thing when The Sweet Spot storefront opened up properly but truthfully, he just enjoyed doing things for people. Between Ver coming into his shop for flowers regularly and the fact that he made a point to take over a new handmade bouquet and a pretty vase to the bakery once every week or every couple of weeks if he was waiting on flowers or a particular vase-- he saw her pretty much as regularly as any of his friends outside of work situations. Even if he spent most of their interactions blushing or smiling like a complete dork he still enjoyed being able to do something nice for her and that was all that was in his head as he pushed his way into the bakery with a vase balanced in his hands. He peeked around the flowers to smile at Ver, “Special delivery! I thought the sunflowers would be nice now that it’s starting to get a little more summery out, y’know? I know I probably could’a waited until you came into my shop but the peg leg needs a stretch-- it’s a little stiff today-- so I figured I’d just come down myself.”

Thierry was understanding that Ver was upset, but he didn't appreciate her judgmental line of questioning. A disapproving frown reached his lips. "Yes, he knows. I'm always honest with him." He didn't enjoy having to defend his relationship with Jamal like this. It made Thierry feel like he was being accused of something. "I get that you're mad, but this isn't some personal attack against you. You're telling me that you've never remained friends with someone you used to sleep with?" Thierry took a step closer, a look of sincerity reflecting back in his brown hues. "You know me. I'd never do anything to intentionally hurt the people I care about, which includes you." @verdadurmaz
She would have accepted anything other than what fell from his mouth. She wasn't angry that they'd slept together, but jealous? Frustrated? "I'm sorry, I need a second to think about what you said and what I'm supposed to do with that." Around that time had been when Emmy had told her that they couldn't be together, because being with someone wasn't what she wanted for herself. Not even a few weeks later and she'd hear the same damn thing fall from his mouth on a park bench. The honesty had nearly broken her, and yet, Thierry and Emmy had found comfort in one another? The irony was too damn much. "So, now what? You just hang out like you weren't screwing each other? I mean, does Jamal know?"

location / ver's place
Thierry tapped his knuckles against Ver's front door, cradling a bottle of wine in his other hand. Just the other day, the baker had texted him about wanting to get together at her place. The message was a little vague, but nothing to give the cop any reason to worry. He stopped by Cheers! before coming over, grabbing a bottle of red wine as a polite gesture. When the front door opened, Thierry greeted the brunette with a warm smile. "Hey, you." He replied, leaning in for hug. Thierry pulled back from the embrace, lifting up the bottle. "I brought us some wine."

"That's what hot fudge is for." Thierry smirked, beginning the drive to Below Zero. "Sounds like you just did," he quipped. "Things are going pretty good. Jamal and I had a nice Valentine's day. I think it brought us closer together." He decided to leave out the gut-wrenching part of their night, when Thierry told his boyfriend about his life before moving to Providence Peak. After telling Jamal and Emmy about his past, Thierry needed a little time before feeling emotionally ready to tell anyone else. Telling that tale took a lot of out him. "You turn. How has life been treating you lately?"

location: penny’s cottage
Tensions in the Lind family were still running high after learning about R.J. lying to Penny. Linc eventually found out too, which only added fuel to the fire. He and R.J. were butting heads more than ever. Penny was doing her best to stay out of it and keep her focus on work. She knew the time would come when the siblings would have to sit down and talk out their differences. They all just need a little more time to cool off and approach the situation with a level head. Hearing Ver’s knock at her cottage door, Penny carefully rested down her tea tray on the coffee table to greet the baker. “Hey, Ver. Please, come inside and get warmed up. I made some hot tea and fresh baked vanilla bean sugar cookies.”

location: the sweet spot
Penny felt a tad anxious as she walked through the entrance doors to Ver’s bakery. After learning from Yao that Verda had ended their relationship, she couldn’t stop wondering what had brought her friend to making that kind of decision. Penny wasn’t the type to make assumptions, so she went straight to source instead. There could have been a legitimate reason why Ver ended things with Yao. Penny didn’t have much relationship experience, but she knew how tricky love could be. The farm girl spotted Ver behind the counter, offering the older woman a friendly smile. “Hey, I was in the neighborhood and I thought I’d swing by.” Penny stepped up to the counter, nervously pressing her teeth into her bottom lip. “I wanted to see how you were doing. We didn’t get a chance to see much of each other over the holidays.”

location / le cirque
Felipe walked into Le Cirque with Ver on his arm, beaming with joy as the sounds of Latin music rippled through the air. It felt like being back in Miami. The club was having a Latin Night and Felipe couldn't have been more excited. He missed going out dancing with his friends. The only dancing he had lately was while he was cleaning around his place. He invited Verda out to join him for their first official hang out. After seeing her at the festival, Felipe felt a touch guilt for not reaching out to the baker sooner. He thought a night of dancing and drinks would be a great way to make it up to her. "Feels like home." The fashion designer grinned, guiding them through the crowd. He turned to Ver, already bobbing his head to the music. "I love this song! Do you want to dance?"

"Verda?" Felipe approached the familiar face. The pair had met not long after the fashion designer arrived in town. They had exchanged numbers, but Felipe had been so busy with the opening of his boutique that he never got around to reaching out. "It's great to see you again. I'm sorry I didn't get in contact with you. I was insanely busy with getting my boutique up and running."

"I don't plan on being upset with him forever. I don't have it in me to hate him, and I hope I never do." Penny explained. "I do feel that I have the right to need some space to think things over. What he did wasn't okay, and it's not just because he lied to me. He made a decision for me. No one has the right to take that away from me, not even my brother," she sighed softly, reaching for her cup of tea. "I know we'll work things out, but R.J. has to start treating me like an adult. I can't stand when people treat me like I'm a child just because of how I am. Being soft doesn't mean I'm weak."

Penny wasn’t exactly the type to attend fancy events like this. She always felt a little out of place. Looking around at the all the other glamorous dresses and outfits, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was underdressed. Remembering tonight was about supporting a good cause, Penny pushed aside her insecurities and made the decision to go. She stopped by the bar to grab a glass a wine and happened to spot Verda waiting for a drink too. Things were a bit tense since they last saw each other and Penny didn’t want that tension to linger between them. “Hey Ver! You look beautiful as always. How’ve you been?”

location: the sweet spot
There was only a few more days left before Thierry headed back home to Louisiana to spend Thanksgiving with his family. He was a little anxious to return to a place that held so many memories for him. It was where he was born and raised. It was where he started a family, and lost one. Thierry was expecting the trip bring up some emotions that he had been hiding from. He could only pray that he still had the strength to face them.
The cop wasn’t planning on stopping by Ver’s place of work today. He just so happened to be driving past her shop while out on patrol. Feeling relaxed whenever he was around Verda, Thierry hoped her presence would ease some of the nerves rattling through him. The older male popped into the bakery, pulling down his shades as he spotted the brunette behind the counter. “Hey, boss lady. Any chance of getting a cop discount on some of your finest baked goods?”
