A beauty of a clock to work on, over a hundred years old but one of the most solidly constructed ones i've seen to date.

Modern young!Emmett headcanons
because me and a thread partner were discussing High School AUs and my brain decided it wanted to. Sorry this got uh, long.
Runs a YouTube channel with like-... All KINDS of random stuff on there. Video types include: his experiments (Marty is always credited in the description for having filmed/edited it), tech teardowns and guides for fixing things, tutorials on some things that are probably slightly illegal (”Hello! ClockDoc here and today we’ll be making FIREWORKS!”), reviews/discussion on almost any and all sci fi media and any actual science behind it, hilariously/horrifyingly weird video game glitches he found, displaying various models he’s built or things he’s forged, and videos of his dog doing dog things which are like... the most precious to watch because Emmett’s behind the shaky camera and keeps talking softly/conversationally to the tail-wagging pup
Computers are added to his “student of all sciences” repertoire. He’s pretty decent with them, mostly for simulations and 3D modelling. Will make game mods for Marty upon request.
Yet is still probably on the Track/Field team in school, despite the nerdiness, and he’s good at it.
Skips half his classes though because he’s bored and he already knows the stuff from having read it ahead of time. The only reason he still gets decent grades is he aces all the tests/quizzes
“borrows” lab equipment. frequently. Also, the keys to the school’s wood/machine shop.
His family is wealthy enough he could get his own, but then it’s harder to keep his hobby a secret. That said, he DOES have a 3D printer that he gets a lot of mileage out of.
Tends to be pretty generic in terms of texting style. He comes across as a lot more-... Calm... Through text than he does in person, despite the fact he tends to be more emotionally open through the format. His ringtone is probably some classical music he put on because of some Looney Tunes reference, and he never has a phone case, a dreadful sin which nevertheless doesn’t ever come back to bite him.
He still wears bow ties. Fight me.
Would prefer to grow his hair out if his family didn’t keep scheduling him for the barber, and there’s only so many you can skip before they notice he’s skipping them.
One of those annoying “caloric black hole”-type metabolisms.
Might be diagnosed with ADHD.
He could still have gotten into science via Jules Verne, being an insufferable pretentious genius rich kid with an uptight family it doesn’t surprise me he’d read it, but like-... Culturally, 1925 is a LOT different than like, 2011. A lot of that old science fiction was either invalidated or achieved, taking away some of the magic of it. I wanna say like... Asimov, maybe, or Star Trek... Or some other classic 20th century hard sci fi writer I’m not well-versed in that specific subject.
He’s still steampunk trash though no matter what, I can’t just take that away from him...

I love working on old pocket watches like this, there are 9 signatures from previous work performed on this one.
(I had to put dots beside them to track them all!)

If you've ever wondered just how big a clock's springs are, these two came out of a sessions mantle clock and are each almost two and a half meters long! (~7'11" in imperial units)
