Extending an international conference trip into a full blown #honeymoon adventure has been 10/10 awesome. Would honeymoon again. We rode our bikes along Beauly Firth today to check out @thesingletonhk. What is a Firth?? Firth is a word in the Scots and English languages used to denote various coastal waters in Scotland and even a strait. In the Northern Isles, it more usually refers to a smaller inlet. It is linguistically cognate to fjord which has a more constrained sense in English. Bodies of water named "firths" tend to be more common on the east coast where we are. Beauly Firth is effectively a continuation of the Moray Firth westward, and is bounded at one end by Beauly and at the other by Inverness. So it’s kinda like a bay? It’s a bay off of a bay?
