Needy | Cloé Lacasse x CanWNT!Reader
Summary: the time you spend away from your girlfriend during the season has you feeling needy during the international break {reader plays in Australia}
Warning: suggestive throughout and implied smut at the end!
WC: 2.3K
AN: in honor of Arsenal’s cunty cup win even tho she wasn’t there lmao 😭 & to the anon that requested, I hope you enjoy!
You sighed as your back hit the soft hotel mattress, exhausted from the long flight from Australia. You were grateful the staff had given you your own room for this camp since you were going to be arriving much later than the rest of your teammates. The one downside to arriving at camp much later was that by the time you arrived at the hotel, all of your teammates were in bed asleep. Which meant you would have to wait till breakfast in the morning to see Cloé.
Playing for different clubs did have its downsides, especially when it came to being intimate with your girlfriend. While you were excited to be back with the team and to play for your country, the main thing you were looking forward to this camp was finally being able to see Cloé. The entire week leading up to camp the blonde took it upon herself to tease you about how needy you were, knowing it was going to make you need her more.
You quickly got up from the bed to do everything you needed before bed, you were determined to get as much sleep as possible so you could wake up a bit early so you had time to see your girlfriend before breakfast. You set your alarm as you got comfortable in bed, your excitement about seeing the blonde in a few short hours was rising with each second.
You groaned at the annoyingly loud sound blaring from your phone, the sun’s bright light shining through the curtains. You opened your eyes slightly to turn your alarm off, stretching your arms as you sat up in the hotel bed. Taking a deep, relaxed breath you moved to get out of bed to get ready, you needed to see Cloé as soon as possible. After getting dressed and doing everything you needed, you were out the door and down the hall toward your girlfriend’s room.
You knew which room she was in since Quinn had texted you while you were on the flight that they were rooming with the blonde. You stopped outside the door, lightly knocking just in case both players were still asleep. A minute passed before Quinn opened the door.
“Morning, y/n/n. You just missed her,” the midfielder spoke as they leaned against the doorframe.
You furrowed your eyes in confusion, your girlfriend hated getting up earlier than she needed and you both had agreed to meet before breakfast. You huffed as you told Quinn you were sorry if you had woken them up before you headed towards the large conference room at the end of the hall.
You should have known this was a part of Cloé’s teasing, she was trying to make you desperate for her. Which was working. It had been so long since you simply felt her touch or even kissed her and it was starting to get to you. As you entered the large room, a few of your teammates were already eating and talking about the upcoming games against The United States.
Your eyes quickly scanned the room, looking for the blonde but you rolled your eyes when you didn’t see her. Knowing Cloé you knew she would wait till the last minute to show up and eat, which wouldn’t give you any time to actually talk to her. The rest of your teammates slowly started filling the room, the table you were sitting at now full, and still no sign of the winger.
You ate in silence, tuning out your teammates as they spoke around you. As you finished your food, Cloé strolled into the room, a smirk gracing her features as her eyes immediately found you and she saw your expression. You were right in thinking she was doing this on purpose, the blonde loved to tease you and she knew this would drive you crazy. Cloé took her seat at a different table, her eyes drifting your way as she waited for you to notice she was there.
As you listened to Jessie and Jordyn talk about how they are now rivals in the NWSL, you looked around the room hoping to see your girlfriend. Your eyes locked with hers quickly given that she was already looking at you and you felt your breathing pick up a bit. You tried to show you were upset with her but when a smirk appeared and she sent you a wink, you had to look away from her.
She didn’t speak to you at all on the walk towards the bus after breakfast and made an effort to avoid you the entire time. To anyone else, it would look like the two of you were fighting and avoiding each other, but you knew this was a game to her. She wanted you to be desperate and begging for her later and if things stayed the way they were, thats what was going to happen.
You took your seat near the back of the bus, waiting for the blonde to sit down next to you. No matter what, Cloé always sat next to you on the bus and you didn’t think this was going to change. Yet, as you watched her take a seat next to Sabs, you were proven wrong. You huffed as you sat back against the seat and turned to look out the window. You needed training to go by quickly so you could get back to the hotel and so Cloé could finally do all the things she said she would over text.
You watched the scenery pass by as the bus headed towards the stadium and your attention was pulled away from the city when you felt your phone vibrate against your lap.
cloé <3: you look cute when your pissed, baby
You rolled your eyes at her text, you couldn’t see her face right now but you didn’t need to know she had a teasing grin on her face.
you: I wouldn’t be so pissed if you would stop ignoring me
Cloé was only a few seats in front of you and with the bus quieter than normal, you could hear the blonde laugh lightly. Another piece of evidence that she was enjoying how she messing with you.
cloé <3: where’s the fun in that baby
You rolled your eyes at her response, opting to not respond to her because you knew she would just continue to tease you and you weren’t sure you could handle that. A few minutes later the bus pulled into the stadium and the team was heading toward the locker room to get ready. This would be the first time you would be close to the blonde given your numbers were next to each other and you smiled to yourself that she couldn’t avoid you fully.
Cloé was already in her cubby when you entered the room and you quickly joined her. She was in a deep conversation with Dri when you sat down, her back turned toward you as she ignored that you had sat down. You shook your head slightly as you changed your shirt, completely missed when Cloé turned to watch you as you changed. Her eyes scanned your partially bare torso as you changed before quickly turning her head when you were done.
She might be the one teasing you because she enjoyed how easy it was to make you beg, but not touching you or talking to you, was driving her crazy. Cloé debated with herself as everyone finished up, her need to kiss you won out. Your teammates started filtering out of the locker room and before you could stand, Cloé’s hand moved your thigh as she forced you back to your seat.
The simple touch from the blonde had your skin heating up and your breathing once again picked up at the feeling of her hands on you for the first time in months. As the last few teammates left the room, Cloé stood from the cubby, pulling you with her. When you were face to face for the first time today, the blonde pulled you into a deep kiss. Your hands moved to rest against the sides of her neck as hers held tightly to your waist. You moaned at the feeling of her lips against yours and the winger pulled you tighter against her.
You both pulled away when air became a problem, both of you breathing heavily. “Sorry for avoiding you, baby,” the blonde smirked as she gave you a quick peck.
“No, you aren’t,” you huffed, still trying to control your breathing. The blonde laughed at your words before she pulled away from you. She grabbed your hand as she pulled you out the door and towards the pitch.
You ignored the whistles from a few of your teammates, you didn’t care about their teasing after you finally got to kiss your girlfriend. Having Cloé’s hands on you for a short moment wasn’t enough, you needed more but you knew nothing would happen until you got back to the hotel.
During each piece of training, Cloé made sure to stand furthest away from you and avoided you whenever you were given a break. Each time you caught her eye, she would either smirk or wink at you to mess with you. Each time you felt your skin heat up and you knew had to quickly look away from her.
It wasn’t until you were running through corner attempts that she touched you again. As you stood near the penalty spot, waiting for the ball to be delivered into the box, you felt a pair of hands rest on your hips. You didn’t have to turn around to know it was Cloé and you could feel just how close she was to you.
“Hi, baby,” the blonde whispered into your ear as you watched Jessie raise her hand to signal the ball was coming. Cloé held on to your practice top, keeping you almost flushed against her as you tried to move into a free area to attempt a header. You watched as the ball sailed over your head toward the back post before it was headed over the crossbar.
You turned to glare at the blonde but were met with a teasing grin and your glare was long gone. Cloé winked at you before turning to walk away from you. You shook your head to clear your thoughts, your head filled with inappropriate images of you and the blonde that certainly weren’t helping. Training dragged on for much longer than you would have liked and you groaned as you sat back down in the locker room.
You quickly changed your shirt and shoes, opting to take a shower back at the hotel once you got back. You ignored your girlfriend next to you, knowing that if she simply spoke to you, you would most likely start begging for her to touch you differently than how she did earlier.
You were one of the first ones back on the bus, taking the same seat as the first time. You weren’t expecting Cloé to sit next to you this time, but you knew it was a part of her plan. You stared at the back of the seat that was in front of you, but you could tell Cloé was staring at you.
Once the bus took off, Cloé’s hand was back on your thigh as she squeezed your thigh lightly to get your attention. You swallowed lightly before turning to look at your girlfriend, an annoying attractive smirk once again gracing her features. There was no one across the aisle so the blonde took it upon herself to pull you into a kiss. You had to control your moans, not wanting anyone to hear you.
Your lips fought for dominance, roughly moving against each other before Cloé pulled back. Your hand shot up to your mouth before a whine escaped your lips and you kept it there as Cloé’s lips found the side of your neck. Your eyes rolled back as the blonde sucked dark marks along your skin as a way to claim what was hers.
You had to force down the moans that were threatening to leave your mouth and you were thankful that the bus had reached the hotel. When Cloé pulled back from your neck, she moved your hand from your move before giving you a quick kiss. She made sure the two of you were the last two off the bus, hoping to give all your teammates and staff enough time to empty the lobby.
The two of you waited by yourselves for an elevator, your breathing hadn’t slowed since Cloé kissed you on the bus and the excitement that filled your body was driving you crazy. If you didn’t have your girlfriend’s hands on (in) you soon, you weren’t sure how much more of this you could take. You were grateful when the elevator came back down and you two were still the only ones waiting.
Being alone in an elevator with Cloé was not helping you, but you were so close to getting what you wanted. You could feel how wet you were already and you were sure that Cloé had an idea as well. When the elevator doors opened, you all but dragged the blonde toward your room and quickly unlocked the door before pulling both of you inside.
Before you could process it, your back was flush with the door and Cloé’s lips were back on yours. The winger’s hands moved to lift your shirt and bra from your body as her hands roamed your naked torso.
“Please,” you whined as you pulled back from her, your girlfriend’s hands on you were driving you crazy but you needed more from her.
“Since you asked so nicely,” Cloé smirked as her lips met yours in another deep kiss. The blonde guided you deeper into your hotel room before your back met the soft hotel mattress, Cloé’s lips never leaving yours.
While you hated being away from the blonde for long periods, the time you had together after being apart was very exciting and you would never complain about her teasing if it meant having her make up for it giving you multiple orgasms, which she did that night.

Cloé Lacasse x R
R begs Cloé for a puppy but she refuses. R brings one home anyways.
warnings: none!
a/n: I think this story is the one I’ve enjoyed writing the most so far. Please, send more of this🥺 Hope everyone likes it as much as I do!
-----
You’ve screwed up, you’re very much aware of it. But you couldn’t help yourself. It was so simple, so easy to do.
And Cloé is going to break up with you when she finds out. Maybe breaking up with you is an exaggeration, but she will be mad, really mad. It’s not like it was completely your fault, you were persuaded into doing it, tricked by pleading eyes. You’ve also been feeling lonely lately, with your girlfriend constantly busy with all the games and training, so you kind of knew something like this would happen eventually.
It gets worse when she’s away for international break, an ocean from you, and you have no one to keep you company. So, really, this happening makes perfect sense.
“My girlfriend is going to kill me, did you know that?” you ask the golden retriever puppy sitting in the passenger seat “Maybe you and I should move to Alaska, that way she can’t find us.”
He looks at you and tilts his head, letting out a soft bark in response.
Shaking your head, you recall the conversation the two of you had a couple weeks ago.
-----
“Cloé...” you start.
“No. Whatever it is, no”
You huff in annoyance “I haven’t even said anything yet.”
“Yeah, honey, but I know that face and you’re about to ask for something that you know I won’t like.”
Climbing in her lap, you give your girlfriend a sheepish smile.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about”
“Sure,” she says rolling her eyes.
Taking Cloé’s hands and placing them on your waist, you tilt her head a little bit and start leaving kisses around her face.
“I’ve been thinking. You know how I used to have a dog when I was a kid?” your continue trailing kisses down her neck and hear your girlfriend hum when you hit a particularly sensitive spot “Well, I thought we could adopt a puppy.”
“What?” Cloé asks pushing you off herself “Absolutely not. Nope. Not happening.”
“But, love-” you whine.
“No buts.”
“Baby, please,” you try again, pouting “Just hear me out.”
“Oh, I have heard you loud and clear” she answers leaving a kiss on your forehead “And we’re not getting a dog.”
Cloé gets up from the couch and walk into the kitchen, you quick to follow after her with the intention of continuing your conversation.
“Why not?”
“A dog takes a lot of responsibility. You have to feed it, take it out on a walk a few times a day, you also need to train it. And don’t even get me started on vaccines and the vet,” she lists “It’s just a lot, and you know it.”
You frown “I’m perfectly capable of taking care of a dog.”
“You can barely take care of yourself” you open your mouth to protest –even though you know she’s right– but your girlfriend stops you “Honey, we’re not getting a dog and that’s it. And I don’t want to have this conversation again, so don’t even try.”
Cloé walks up to you and pecks your lips multiple times, trying to kiss your pout away. It works and, in just a few minutes, you’re smiling again.
-----
Opening the door to your apartment, you beg the universe that your girlfriend hasn’t arrived home just yet. However, never being a lucky one, you hear rustling and soft footsteps walking towards the entrance.
“Hi, baby,” Cloé greets you with a smile once she’s in front of you.
“Hi.”
Your girlfriend frowns a little bit when you make no move to kiss or hug her.
“What do you have there?” she asks pointing behind your back, where the puppy you have just adopted is starting to get restless in your arms.
“Okay, don’t get mad please,” you beg.
Cloé looks at you suspiciously “Honey, what did you do?”
“Promise me you won’t get mad.”
“I’m not promising you that,” your girlfriend scoffs “You look extremely guilty, so I don’t trust you right now, not a little bit.”
You open your mouth to answer, but you’re quickly interrupted by the sound of a bark behind your back, just where your hands are hidden.
Cloé’s jaw drops in shock “You did not!”
“Surprise?” you ask putting the puppy right in from of her face.
He squirms a little bit in your hands and licks you girlfriend right in the nose.
“Honey! We said no dogs!”
“No,” you resort placing the puppy in her arms and pointing at her “You said no dogs, I didn’t say anything. You didn’t even let me say anything!”
“Are you serious right now?” she asks frowning at you, but you see her beginning to pet the puppy.
Taking the dog from her, you place him in the floor in front of you.
“Come on, you can explore the house now. And you,” you say to your girlfriend “are going to listen to me before you say anything else. A co-worker of mine has a dog and she just had puppies. He needed to find people who would adopt them, and decided to show us some pictures to see if anyone would be interested. And I really wanted to say ‘no’ but, love, I work from home most days and I spend the mornings alone; whenever you leave for international break I stay here all by myself. It gets lonely, and I just wanted someone to keep me company. But if you really don’t want the puppy I’ll make sure to find him a home.”
Your girlfriend lets out a sigh.
“I love you, you know that?”
“I mean, considering you tell me all the time, I’d say I do.”
“Smartass” she mumbles “Well, I love you. I love that stupid big heart of yours and how you have a smile that could convince me to do basically anything.”
“Does that mean we can keep it?” you ask looking at her excitedly.
Cloé rolls her eyes “Yes. But, you have to promise to take good care of him and train him. I don’t want him causing any trouble.”
“Whatever you say, love.”

This is a tweet which sums up that article that's causing a ruckus on Twitter tonight:
I mean, it's unbelievable what's come out. And I'm glad it's being spoken about and not swept under the rug. What's happening behind the scenes is not okay, it's everything that women's football has been fighting against all this time. Yet it's happening to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and the higher-ups aren't blinking an eye. I mean, what does it take?
Arsenal love to say it's one club, they have a manager for the men's team that's reconnected the fans to the team in ways people could only dream of, they've taken the team to new heights, whereas it's a completely different world for the women's team. They could not be more opposite situations. And the club (seemingly) isn't doing anything about. No loyalty for the players, not good enough quality of staff, far worse quantity of staff (2 physios for the whole team!) and other ways the women are treated that would never be allowed for a men's team in the top flight. It's always one step forward and a fucking hundred steps back.
I wish I had taken the comments against Eidevall this season more seriously, but I along with a lot of people had rose-tinted glasses on and didn't give them a second thought. Well, we've seen a lot now and I bet it isn't even half of what's going on.
Thinking back over the season, the poor treatment is visible. Caitlin Foord was worked tirelessly, Cloé Lacasse has hardly featured (her spell at Benfica more than proved what a game-changing player she can be), Laia Codina's success wasn't congratulated publicly until fans pointed it out, and many other examples. It's clear in plenty other players just how much the management of the team has affected them. You take one look at the football they played 90% of the time, and the evidence is now clearly there.

Enough pt. 2
Masterlist
Before the Canadian soccer team could even play one game, their squad had to withstand turmoil. After the scandal is published, some of their assistants, as well as Bev Priestman were banned from the team, leaving Andy Spence as responsible. You couldn’t imagine what every single player was going through in this situation. How much pressure is on them after the leaking.
Is Jessie okay? How is she coping with this information? As the new named captain, this had another impact on the reserved player. The two of you weren’t at the stage of exposing your truest fears and thoughts yet still earning each other’s trust. On the morning of the first game of your rendezvous, you try to call her, but she is deep in her game preparation. >Hey Flem, just checking in. I saw the news; well, you couldn’t overlook that. A nervous chuckle escaped your lips. So, how’s my favorite Canadian holding up? Hope you had a good morning. I’m looking forward to the game this evening, cheering on you, my champion. You’ll rock this, go make your country proud. Make me proud. So… yeah… call me back when you’ve got time. Fingers are crossed.< You end the voice note and enter the train.
The knocks echo through the stadium as the woman batter the rod onto the pitch, and shortly after, the teams lead by their captains walk onto the grass. A smile settles on your lips as your eyes fall on the brunette Canadian in red.
After 11 minutes the canucks trail by one goal which shocked the whole stadium, they showed dominance and talent, their tactics prevail the game. The fans of the maple leaf could take a breath of relief when Cloé Lacasse headed the tie just before the end of the first half, to which everyone leap up into the air. Your sight remains on the woman with the number 17 written all over her back. The way she reads the opponent and has their crosses blocked, her ability to run such a distance over whole ninety minutes astounds you. When Evelyn Viens scores in the 79th minute nothing could bound the fan to their seats. Eight minutes of injury time are over when the final whistle blows, and the cheering of the Canadian fans roars through the stadium. On the field the footballer in red huddle and celebrate together, throwing their arms in the air and clasping teammates into their embrace. Your eyes still linger on Jessie’s figure as she trolls over the pitch waving and clapping at fans. She walks past your section and your gazes meet for a moment or two and the corner of your mouth twirl up as you apprehend Jessie’s countenance; her nose wrinkled, her head cocked to the side and her mouth agape. But what you couldn’t see from your seat was the way her eyes flashed, and her cheeks turn a crimson red. Her eyes bore into you as if you were a hallucination and would disappear when she averts her sight. You giggle and wave at the brunette, who covered her mouth with one hand and her eyes widen as she comprehend the situation. Jessie leaves her cluster of teammates and sprints towards your direction. It feels like you’re glued to the ground as you watch her inching closer over to where you stand. As she reaches the railing at the end of the stairs, she signals you to walk down to her. The clogs in your brain turn a mile per minute and your heartbeat increases. You stumble down the stairs. To other it seems you’re a friend of hers, that’s what you kind of hope, not wanting to expose Jessie to anyone as the woman you’re seeing, not sure of her feelings toward you or her thoughts of the two of you since you haven’t labelled the situation between you. Jessie beams at you and her eyes never leaving your body as you make your way down.
“Hi,” you greet her as you halt in front of her, the bar in between you separating the two of you. How much you wished for it to disappear, you couldn’t easily jump over it because there was a high difference of almost two meters.
She stands on tiptoes, her arms lifted, for her to feel you somewhat near. “You’re here,” she breaths out, and your smile grows. “I can’t believe it.” Jessie rubs her eyes. “How?”
“I can leave if you don’t want me here,” you tease, a grin forming.
“No!” Jessie’s quick to react.
“My games won’t start until the 29th. And I couldn’t miss this. Besides I needed a surprise for you myself,” you wink at the brunette and her cheeks turn a deep red. “I call you this morning, but you already left for your game.”
“I heard but couldn’t answer, I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright.” You reach for her hand but stop just inches before you could feel her skin on you. The two of you haven’t exchanged fondling during the last weeks you got to know each other.
Your mind racing.
Does Jessie want this too? Does she like you too? Is it okay for her to display it? are you on the same page?
The train of thoughts is interrupted as you feel her warm skin on yours. A shy smile visualizes on your face as your eyes wander from hers to your intertwined hands. The Canadian herself beams at you and caresses the back of your hand with her thumb. This is a big step.
“It’s an amazing surprise. I like it.”
“I do hope so.”
“Oh, believe me,” she squeezes your hand, giving you a wink.
“I must say you played unbelievable. Enjoyable to watch you and your magic.”
“Thank you, Y/N.” as she says your name your heart stops and butterflies erupt in your stomach, the sound of it is angelic, you could hear it every day, you could also feel how the heat creeps into your cheeks and your eyes dart to the ground. Jessie squeezes your hand again, gaining your attention your eyes meet her amber ones. “Will you stay?” her voice small.
You nod as you breathe a yes out.
“I’d love that. Give me half an hour and we’ll meet outside the stadium. If we don’t find each other I call you.”
Another nod was your response as she scrunches your hand one last time before letting go and running over to what you suppose is her family, as she turns around, she presents you a tooth rotting grin and another wave before you round the corner into the building.
The minutes tick by as the fans leave the stadium, some gathering in a knot of people at what you guess the player exit was. Cheering fills the air when the Canadian footballer leave the stadium. You stand secluded, waiting for the athlete to arrive. You are ripped out of your thoughts as two muscular arms come around your middle. You turn in your spot and throw your arms around her neck, burying your face in her shoulder, squeezing her tighter to you. Her wet hair tickles your cheek, but you try to ignore it, taking the moment in. She twirls you around, and you giggle into her left ear at which her heart rate quickens and goosebumps form on her skin. “Thank you,” she mumbles.
“For what?” you slightly part and observe her.
“Being here. I didn’t realise how much I missed this, you. It felt like years since the last time we’ve seen each other.”
“We phoned yesterday.”
“You know what I mean,” she pinches your sides, and you jump in your spot.
“Tell me.” You whisper into the room between you, lips curling up as Jessie sighs and presses her lips together. “I missed this too,” a chuckle leaves your mouth as you cares her back from top to bottom. “So, what now?”
“Let’s get some food.” She grabs her bag and leads the way down the road to a restaurant. “Excuse my choice of dressing, but I wasn’t prepared a beautiful woman would come to the game,” a coy smile lingered on her lips as she narrowed her eyes, and she flatters her eyelashes.
Your bite you lower lips, eyes falling to the floor as your cheeks start to blush. “I don’t mind.”
The waitress leads you to a table in the corner of the sunroof, it’s a quiet place just what you two need. “Thank you,” you both say at the same time and the waitress gives you a smile before leaving you alone.
“I can't put it into words how much it surprised me that you came plus that I can finally see you again,” she beams at you, “in person,” Jessie adds.
You keep a stoic expression. You hold a blank stare and keep your lips in a line. “It’s okay, I guess,” you comment, and Jessie’s jaw drops, her eyes wide and blink rapidly, and her brows rise. “Maybe it’s quite nice.”
She rolls her eyes. “Stop it.”
“What?”
“The teasing…”
“I’m not.”
She holds your gaze, inching closer and your breaths mix. “You’re lying.” She knits her brows, lips tighten.
“Why should I.”
“Cause you like me?”
“From what can that be determined?” you sent her a shrug smile.
Jessie sighs, fidgeting with the ring on her finger, “this is no fun.”
“Oh Fleming,” you place your hand as an offer for her on the table, and without hesitation, she puts hers in yours, and you close your finger around it, a smile forming on her face. “I couldn’t stand another day without you. This past month was a dread.”
“I was really looking forward to the last game in Paris, but I like this better wouldn’t have it any other way,” she squeezes your hand as she closes her eyes and scrunches her nose.
“Me too. I like this much more.”
A comfortable silence falls between you two where you take in the presence of each other and enjoy this slow moment, which was rare these days.
“To get back to your call…”
“Jess.”
“This situation… This scandal it blindsided me, I’m a little confused and-“ she gulps. “It’s overwhelming.” A tear escapes her eye, and you reach over and wipe it away, your thump lingering on her cheek longer than necessary. “And to be honest, yeah I like our calls and how much we message when we can, but I really longed to be with you, to have you next to me, to feel your presence.” The tears slowly flow down her cheek. By now your hand rests on her cheek as you frequently dry them.
“It’s alright, let it out,” you soothe her. “I’m here.” Your thump caressing her skin as you fell her lean into your touch. Your hand takes hers, and you pull her over to you, then you lay your arms around her shoulders and press her shaking body close into you. A hand running through her damp hair, the other lightly rubbing her back. “I’ve got you.” You notice how your t-shirt gets slightly wet, but you didn’t mind because she’s Jessie. “I know it's easy for me to say this, that you shouldn’t take this personal or let it be affected in any way, but I understand what this triggers in you. Jess, you’re the honest and kindest human I’ve ever met and you’re such a big name in the game, all little girls look up to you and praises you and the whole squad and yet you were played dirty. Something that is against yours and the team’s moral, the Canadian way if you want so. And everyone knows it's not your fault that you and your girls haven’t had a clue what’s going on. I know there are some people who will fight you as being victims too, but those don’t know, they’re jealous and foolish, maybe thinking their nation would’ve won against you in the past years.” Another shudder runs through her body as she tightens the grip on your shirt, burying herself deeper into you. “You’re an amazing player and so talented. Your squad holds a bright future. You’re all ambitious, and this won't knock you down. You’ll fight all those haters and show them the real Canada. Make your country proud. Every single one is behind you and got your back. And I… I’ll walk this road with you, besides you, steading you. I’ll catch you if you fall.” You kiss the top of her head, ignoring the doubting thoughts. “You achieved already so much this will not define your person.”
You place your hand on her check and push her slightly back from your chest. Eyes glued on her. Jessie’s cheeks strained with tears and eyes puffy and red, her eyes drifting from yours to your lips and back. You let your thumb run over her pink lips, licking your own. Her cheeks caged in your hands as you guide her face so you can peck her forehead, taking the decision for her before she can move and do something she’ll regret afterward.

By Your Side | Cloé Lacasse x CAN!Reader
summary: tearing your ACL is never fun, but having your girlfriend by your side makes it feel less scary
warnings: none other than this being a little angsty?
WC: 1.2K
AN: I know nothing about ACL tears so apologies in advance if it's not 100% accurate!
to the anon that requested this, im sorry this took forever but I hope you enjoy nonetheless :)
may make a part 2 where R comes back after recoverying!
You normally enjoyed attending camps with the national team since it meant being able to see your girlfriend. While Cloé played in England with Arsenal, you were playing in Los Angeles with Angel City. However, waking up this morning before the game against The United States, you felt a nervous feeling taking over your body. You thought it was simply because of the rivalry between the two teams but as it got closer to kick off, the nervousness continued to consume you.
Sitting in the locker room next to Jessie, you tried to tune out the loudness of some of your teammates and instead focus on prepping for the game. You had made the starting eleven because of all the hard work you had put in during practice but that did nothing to lessen your uneasy feeling.
You were too deep in your thoughts to notice that Jessie had gotten up and her seat now being occupied by Cloé. The blonde could see the worry written across your face and like you, assumed it was because of the rivalry.
“You’re gonna do great, y/n/n,” the blonde spoke just loud enough for you to hear her over your teammates’ music.
You were brought out of your thoughts at the sound of her voice, turning to give her a small smile in appreciation for her words but you didn’t respond. You reached out a hand to hold onto hers and gave it a quick squeeze just as Bev alerted the subs they needed to head to the bench and for the starters to make their way to the tunnel. A quick speech was given but you were more focused on Cloé’s hand in yours.
Cloé held on to your hand the entire walk to the tunnel, only letting go so you could find your spots in the line. As she let go, she gave you one last reassuring squeeze hoping to help your nerves. You were grateful for her trying to help, but it unfortunately didn’t.
You did your best to focus on the walkout and anthems, hoping that once the ref blew the whistle, you would be ready to go. For the most part, that’s what happened. Once the game had started, you diverted your focus to the game rather than your nervous thoughts.
The first half ended with both sides still at zero but that doesn’t mean it was uneventful. The rivalry was in full swing as both teams played a bit more aggressively than they would against a different opponent. A total of five yellow cards was handed out in the first forty-five, meaning a lot of players would have to be extra careful in the second half.
The short break in between halves went by quicker than you would have liked but it meant less time to dwell on your feelings. As you walked out to the field, Cloé jogged past you, giving you a small shoulder bump and a smile as she passed. You sent her a quick smile before she turned away, heading to her position on the wing.
The second half started just like the first ended, both teams playing a bit messy, fouling each other left and right. The scoreline remained at zero-zero with neither team getting a good opportunity to score, until the 75th minute. The US had gotten a shot on goal that Kailen blocked, sending it out for a corner kick for the States.
You stood at the edge of the box, ready to get any ball that was cleared your way. You could feel the presence of one of the US players near you but you focused your attention on the ball. As the ball was kicked into the box, one of your teammates got a head to it first, sending it your way. The ball connected with your feet and as you turned to start your run down the field, you felt a harsh tackle that sent you to the ground.
You felt a sharp pain in your knee, unable to move to get up. Tears instantly welled up in your eyes as you turned your head trying to hide your face from the large crowd that was now silent. All you could hear was the ref blowing her whistle, most likely to alert the medical staff that they were needed. You heard some shouts from your teammates but you couldn't make out what they were saying, too in pain to concentrate.
You felt two hands on your ribs and shoulder, knowing it was Cloé right away. You knew her touch so well that even in an insane amount of pain, you knew it was her.
You weren’t paying attention to what she was saying, only making out “is it your leg” before the medical staff were by your side, asking the same questions.
All you could do was nod as they quickly started assessing your knee. Cloé hated seeing you in any kind of pain, but knowing that it could be the dreaded three-letter injury, she felt heartbroken for you. The blonde moved to wipe the tears off your face and some of the pieces of grass that had stuck to your forehead as the staff called for a stretcher.
Your teammates who were now huddled around you gave the medical staff space as they lifted you onto the stretcher, some of them giving you a quick pat on your stomach as you were lifted up. Cloé gave you a quick kiss on your forehead before you got too far from her, watching as you gave a small thumbs-up to the Canadian supporters who traveled for the game.
You spent the rest of the game in the locker room getting looked at by all the team doctors, They all came to the same conclusion, you had torn your ACL, but you should still go to the local hospital for it to be confirmed. You asked for them to let you be to process the diagnosis and they left you in the small medical room. You didn’t have much time to process anything before your girlfriend joined you.
“Did they say what it was,” the blonde asked as she entered the room. She knew it was your ACL but there was still a small part of her that hoped that maybe it wasn’t.
“ACL tear,” was all you could get out without crying again. You knew how long and painful this injury could be and it was daunting.
Cloé was quick to your side, holding your hands tightly in hers as she held back her own tears.
“I’ll be by your side the whole time, y/n/n. You won’t have to do this alone,” the blonde spoke, her voice cracking more with each word. Hearing your girlfriend's words brought a small, sad smile to your face.
“I know, I don't think I could do this without you,” you whispered as you gave her hands a tight squeeze.
Cloé leaned down to give you a quick kiss on your lips before giving you another forehead kiss. You knew this injury was going to be an uphill battle but with your girlfriend and teammates by your side, it would be a whole lot easier than doing it alone.
