I coulda drawn it better but I’ve decided Esk’s armor is just containing all the rot and insectoid metamorphosis slurry she’s become in there. I’m thinking about it for normal reasons

Who was Esk before she became a Cleanrot Knight? What's her relationship like with others that live in rot? You've implied she gets along with the Malenia clones, or at least just Millicent...

She was one of Malenia's Cleanrot Knights, so presumably her life before that was the pretty standard knight backstory. Daughter of nobility, trained from a young age for combat, and eventually made enough of an impression to be selected by a demigod.

Esk "died" in the battle of Aeonia and was asleep in the swamp for most of that time, but she had long ago accepted and embraced Malenia's rot. She did not get to know any of the servants of Rot that sprang up since then, so she has little affiliation with them.

The Kindred of Rot follow her around, the other Cleanrot Knights are mostly too far gone to really speak to, but Millicent is a whole person, and an echo of Malenia. Esk pledged her service pretty much on sight.
