Why I used Amber Heard as face claim for Rosanna and Claudia is how people thought she was and who she really was. Family dynamics isn't always twins vs parents or siblings vs parents. Siblings can be abusive to. In this case I used Amber as mera specifically so you can differentiate the two very clearly. I don't personally like Amber Heard as I am on johnny Depps side on the matter however I couldn't use a better face claim for an "not so likable" character as Claudia then I got the idea of making a twin for her with opposite personality and embody how a abusive sibling can act

One of the things that gets me about Interview with the Vampire is Anne Rice’s take on the downside of immortality. I’m especially thinking about this after reading Dracula Daily, currently reading Carmilla Weekly, and considering other vampire media. The vampire should both horrify and fascinate you, and so there should be enough of a tradeoff between a normal, human life and vampirism to make you question if you’d really want that immortality if it was offered to you.

I say if you could choose to be any type of vampire, you’d want to be a Twilight vampire. It’s literally impossible for a human to kill one. Sure, you maybe can’t go out in daylight all the time because your skin sparkles, but that doesn’t mean you can never see the sun again. You’re also fast enough to catch and kill any human unlucky enough to see you out in the middle of the woods or wherever you risked going out during the day. And as long as word doesn’t get out, the Volturi won’t come after you. Twilight also goes very easy on the obvious drawback of watching everyone you love get old and die. I don’t remember the backstory of every single Cullen, but Edward was dying, Alice literally has no memory of her previous life, and Rosalie was brutalized and left for dead by her fiance. They had no life to go back to. Bella might lose her parents eventually, but children ideally should be the ones to outlive their parents. She didn’t have any other close relatives or friends. In giving up her human life, she gets to marry someone she loves and a new family. They can also live just fine on animal blood, so you don’t have to deal with the moral implications of killing humans. And you get your own superpower! Twilight vampires don’t even have to sleep.

Compare this to earlier vampire stories. The vampires in Dracula and Carmilla lose their connection to God--which was a much bigger deal to the Irishmen writing these stories in the late 1800s than it is to a modern audience. Dracula vampires also lose their humanity and have the significant weakness of needing to return to their coffin to sleep during the day and being vulnerable while doing so. They also can be warded off by garlic and have their sanctuaries destroyed by Eucharist wafers. Dracula couldn’t even move his own coffins--he had to pay other people to do it for him, and that meant he had to leave very quickly when the poly band started destroying them. Carmilla/Mircalla/Millarca is restricted by only being able to use different spellings of her name. Her eating habits raise suspicion in any area she stays in for too long, with so many people dying of a strange “fever”, and she also has trouble going out in the daylight. 

Buffy vampires lose their souls, burn up dramatically in sunlight, and have a vampire slayer (or, by the end of the series, many vampire slayers) gunning for them. Most of the vampires in From Dusk Till Dawn are stuck in an eternal position of slavery or servitude and also burn up in the sunlight, essentially forced into a new society where they have very little power and any disobedience would be punished by death. Vampires in Supernatural can survive sunlight, even if it hurts, but they have hunters to contend with, many of which won’t hesitate to cut their heads off even if they stick to animal blood and mind their own business. Increased speed and strength and eternal life might be nice, but you either become an evil, blood-hunting animal or you get to spend that eternity living in fear.

The drawbacks of vampirism per Interview with the Vampire differ a little between the book and the 1994 movie, and a lot between both of those and the 2022 television series. In the book, and save one scene in the movie where Claudia gets out of her coffin during the day to join Louis in his, Anne Rice’s vampires literally cannot be awake during the day. As they age, sunlight does lose its power over them as Armand says in the series, but they cannot be awake to experience it. New vampires are burnt to ash by the sun, older vampires are only burned by it, and the oldest and most powerful can sleep in the sun all day and come out with a nice tan. The movie does a good job of showing this with Louis, holding his lantern close to the waters of the Mediterranean at night because he wants to see it as blue as he’s always heard about. But his light isn’t enough, and the water stays black. It’s a significant drawback of vampirism that the show loses: the sun may eventually lose its ability to hurt you, but you will never experience sunlight or what the world looks like in the daytime again.

One thing the Interview with the Vampire series does keep and did do well with in the first season is showing how vampires are incapable of change. Not only that their bodies are the same forever and that Claudia will never grow up, but that they have essentially lost the human ability to grow and change as people. In the book/movie, Louis was in his early twenties and had already lost his brother (book) or wife and buried his newborn child (movie). Alone in the world save for the slaves he owned at his plantation--who rightfully hated him. He wanted to die, and Lestat jumped him and gave him what he wanted, but he also preserved Louis like that forever. He is and always will be suicidally depressed--he is both dead and wanting to die, existing in limbo. In the series, Louis will always be exactly who he was when Louis turned him. Alienated from his family, but feeling an obligation to support them. Hating the life he leads and the way he earns his money while also viciously defending it. Paying someone to sit in a room and listen to him talk, whether that person is a prostitute or reporter. Louis is stuck as who he was in his weakest moment, when he gave into Lestat, which is why he will always give into Lestat, which is why, after more than a century, he is still whining!

It’s also why aging up the reporter is a great move, because over the course of fifty years, Daniel went from a young addict to a world-renowned reporter, from an idealistic idiot to a cynical asshole. This means he’s done the one thing Louis can’t (besides go out in sunlight): he’s grown and changed as a person. That’s why Louis is fascinated by him, and why he called him decades later to complete their interview. It also calls into question if you, the viewer, would want the “dark gift” Louis offers him. Twenty-year-old Daniel, like most people that age, had no idea how much life can change you, and had no idea what he might be losing to ask for Louis to turn him at that age. Seventy-year-old Daniel knows very well what he would have lost and what he still very well might lose by letting Louis turn him, even as Parkinson’s slowly starts to take its toll on his body. Would you want to live as who you are right now, forever? Do you like who you are enough that you would give up your ability to change, to know who you might become? Would you always want to be that person who, when the vampire bared his teeth and made his offer, gave into a moment of weakness and said yes?

⤷ for sybelle monroe: i think it would be interesting to do something between sybelle and armand that's her saving her and benji from her brother ? and, or it could be a separate idea/thread in its own, have it lead into her first stretch of being a vampire after being turned. i imagine, and this is an assumption, armand might want to teach her/show her how to be a vampire like louis and lestat did with claudia. by then i think he does care about them, has come to love them, and it could be some cute, good bonding time ! esp considering he was prob so angry at marius for actually turning them.

⤷ for akasha: though it might take more plotting, i can think of a few things for akasha. one of them being a first meeting kind of deal, like sometime before the show takes place like we mentioned on disc. it could also be interesting for her to like show up in dubai during the interview and cause issues and chaos bc it would bring her a lot of amusement to be a problem for someone ! or or, again kinda leaning into some stuff we talked abt on disc, akasha biding her time before she really sets her plan to turn mass amounts of people into vampires and, noticing the increase, maybe armand can seek her out for something? while she is harder to fit into the amc show, i think there's a lot of wiggle room to try n squeeze her in.

⤷ for riley viktor , clarice starling, or caroline abbott: i suggest three different muses depending on which one you think might fit best or is most interesting, but for this one ! riley might be interesting because she's a medium. i think she'd pick up on some weird vibes from armand, because he's dead but not a spirit, and maybe they cross paths in new york while he n louis, or just him, is there? maybe he finds her interesting, maybe she's like 'whats up w you' bc she can be very outspoken or crass and i doubt anyone has spoken to him like that in a hot minute lol.

with clarice, maybe with her (being in the fbi/an investigator) she gets called to dubai, or anywhere he/he and louis travel, because of a sus amount of people going missing, bodies popping up from supposed 'animal attacks' and she starts . . digging a little too much to solve whats going on.

and caroline, oh sweet caroline, i dont have anything super concrete. but, armand and caroline could be v similar ! both of them, on some level, searching for love and connection but their idea of it is skewed or warped. caroline has only ever wanted someone to love her, but she has this internal struggle bc well . . shes a cannibal who eats to try to fill the void inside of her but nothing seems to work. based off the idea of some women being born hungry and the things they'll do to try to achieve that.

for these, which we totally dont have to do but i would be interested, these could be very interesting as eventual ships? with clarice and caroline ! i also love me a good human x vampire ship and to see armand navigate that would be interesting i think.

an addition to the household had nessie buzzing. life had never been boring. she stood up against the volturi whenever she was merely a child and traveled to see some of the world with her mom and dad. being what she was though, it was hard to make friends. she was homeschooled so that people would not comment on her ever-changing appearance. it was isolating, even if she did like spending time with her parents and aunt rose. though having someone frozen around her age, aside from her parents, excited her. perhaps she was too enthusiastic as she volunteered to help claudia hunt. nessie didn't know what it was like, the n̲e̲c̲e̲s̲s̲i̲t̲y̲ to drink blood. her body was torn in two part human and part vampire. when nessie finds herself with a craving for blood, she'll simply chew on a rare burger or steak. that wouldn't be enough for her full vampire counterparts to stay alive or their hunger to be satiated.

she begins moving through the trees, the cold wind nipping at her cheeks. ❝ carlisle had said you were from new orleans. what was it like there? i've never been. ❞ it was a little counterproductive to speak while they hunt, as the prey could pick up on the crisp sounds of their voices. nessie could not help herself, however, her curiosity got the better of her. ❝ being in forks must be challenging for you, since you came from a city. can i ask you some questions? it's been so long since i have met someone new and, well, i hope we can b̲e̲ f̲r̲i̲e̲n̲d̲s̲ if you want.. ❞ a pause. ❝ how long have you been a vampire? ❞ her head tilts to the side inquisitively as sharp eyes follow the other's fluid movements. ❝ is that rude to ask? my mom told me it's rude to ask human women that question, though i don't see why. ❞

I have a theory about the opposite, which is that the Volturi are based on the Théâtre and Renesmee/the whole Immortal Children thing is inspired by Claudia, also Laurent’s backstory is totally a Lestat reference.

Wait a minute, Louis, Lestat, Viktor, and Rose are the new 'Cullens' of VC. The monarchy of Auvergne is the Volturi. Armand's coven is their cousins, 'the Denalis'. The Volturi attacks them to take over Amel (Renesmee) from the cullens. There's an infinitely better story here than whatever the PL books are.

“Really? A lover boy under all that armor… just like you Lestat. I see James has a type then. Well, if it’s strength you’re after I can certainly provide you that. However, I believe you’re more so looking for information first.” As soon as Lucifer’s eye contact ceased, that calm warmth vanished and Homelander was back to normal.

“We have reason to believe James was taken by the same Vampire Council who took me a while back. The ones that worshipped Akasha and tried to silence me for being so openly vocal about being a vampire.” Lestat explained.

“That makes sense, they are quite a sensitive bunch.” Lucifer mused and walked over to a file cabinet next to his desk, “Currently to my knowledge, their top leaders aren’t in America, but there’s a base just outside the city where they take prisoners, food, etcetera. The Volturi Clan runs that one. And let me just say-“ Lucifer paused as he pulled out a large file and pointed to Homelander, “Whatever you are, pretty boy, they aren’t going to like. Hybrids like your kind aren’t respected nor are they even acknowledged, same with immortal children… again, so sorry about Claudia.” Lucifer dropped the file onto his desk. It held biographies of each vampire currently running the New York base.

“You had asked for strength earlier John. I can give you strength. Luckily, because you are a friend of James, I will not ask you for a favor in the future for this. But this will give you the strength you crave, I can promise you that.” Lucifer then stood, using Homelander’s real name, and approached him. He then pulled out a small blade from his pocket and pierced his own thumb, allowing blood to spill forth. The intoxicating scent flooded the room and even thought Lestat wanted to protest, wanted to tell Homelander it was a bad idea, he knew the strength it gave and knew it was the only option, “I will only give you a small taste for now, just to see how you react. Then once we go find James, you can have more.” He pressed the knife deeper into his thumb as the wound had already begun to heal before slowly and seductively sticking his bloody thumb into Homelander’s mouth.

The instant Lucifer’s blood reached Homelander’s tastebuds, the most delicious, intoxicating, addictive taste would flood his mouth. It tasted ten times better than James’s or any other blood for that matter. And as soon as it entered Homelander’s bloodstream, even that small amount already started affecting the Supe.

Homelander gave a nod as he headed off to shower. He couldn’t actually believe he was teaming up with Lestat of all people. It was funny how differences could be pushed aside during drastic matters. The Supe wasn’t in any position to be fussy when it came to help, after all. And if it did come to a fight, who better to have by his side than Lestat. …Other than Gazelle, of course. But Homelander didn’t want her involved if it could be helped. He didn’t want her getting hurt. That and she would be better staying at Vought to keep an eye on things while both he and CEO were gone.

Homelander sighed deeply as he turned on the shower and climbed in. He didn’t even care if the water was hot or cold, not that he could feel it anyway. He watched as the water turned crimson, attempting to wash away the blood that had almost become like a second skin. It was only then that he felt himself break, felt tears roll down his cheeks as he sobbed quietly. James deserved far better, and always would. After all he’d been through, he didn’t deserve to be tortured by the council. He wished he could take James’ place instead. Anything to keep his vamp safe.

After a few deep breaths, Homelander finally calmed and continued with his shower, washing and scrubbing the blood from his face and hair, and then freshening up properly. He brought his costume in as well, washing it along with himself. Luckily the material stopped any staining, so it was relatively easily to clean. Needs must when he didn’t have a spare costume around.

Before too long, Homelander was dressed, and clean once more. He left his hair to dry by itself, not caring if it was messy. He left the bathroom and rejoined Lestat and Stacee, giving a nod. “Hope this is clean enough for your friend. …Lucifer was it? I could hear from the shower. Seemed quite easy to get him to help. A little too easy.” He couldn’t help but feel suspicious, clearly not even thinking that this Lucifer was the real one. That would be insane.

“Anyway, I’m ready whenever you are. The sooner we leave, the better. I’m keen to see how this Lucifer will be able to help us exactly. You seem to have a lot of trust in him.” He mused, glancing at Lestat.
