I know the B15 Project as a Birmingham based dance music crew from the late 90's so had hopes for a decent remix out of the three on here. But no, they were all shit. Like really, really shit. Couldn't even finish it. Next record please.
Pretty Woman by PB featuring MY

You could imagine your grandad sitting in chair with a pipe (or in my grandads case, a pack of Woodbines) conducting along to this collection of big band war movie themes. You'll recognise half of them from adverts and just general cultural association, even if you haven't seen the old movies they are all from. To be honest, apart from one, i skipped through them all just to see if they were any good and yeah, they're not really. Except of course, Where Eagles Dare. Now that's a fucking tune! It's almost like the music in the Conan movies; dark, moody, atmospheric, right fucking up there!

Do you remember PM Dawn? Had that one song in the earlyish 90s, Set Adrift on Memory Bliss, with the Spandau Ballet riff on it? Yeah, it was a tune in it's day but i don't ever remember fuck all else from them. Gave it a go as i quite like that chilled beat sound and figured the remixes might be alright and to be fair, it kinda was. Chilled, dubby, almost spiritual hip hop. One of the remixes is a 120bpm breakbeat roller dub and yeah, i was more than happy with this. Not overly memorable, but yeah, happy.

This was the first thing that caught my eye in the record bucket at the reclaimers yard and it is exactly the sort of thing i wanted; latin lounge jazz covers of late 60s pop hits like Way To Amarillo, Not Unusual, and a few others that you recognise but can't really place. The perfect soundtrack to play out in my tiki bar! And for a quid too - Bargain all round!!
Superlatin Lupersatin by Carlos Romanos

Now this is a proper diggers find, old BBC style instructional record with some old chap explaining high fidelity, how to balance your speakers, frequency tones, and covers of various styles of music from big band, to jazz, funk, soul and rock & roll, with instructional voice overs in between. Everytime he says "high fidelity" or "solid stereo" or something about "make sure your stylus is kept clean and placed at the opening groove of the record" in his plumby old british accent, i can place it in a bunch of old Ninja Tune and 90s sample heavy hip-hop and trip-hop breaks.
Oh yeah, the cover of Shaft is just a stone cold, rare groove classic!

Cozy Celebrations Part 2!
It is time for round 2 of Cozy Celebrations! And weeks 2 and 3 (and now 4!) are now available. Let us see what we have in store!
Jasmine pops up again and it’s...time to chat with 3 more folks about holiday traditions and then cook Brigaderio. But first, NAPs! I haven’t played in this neighborhood before so it’s time to set some! Marcel will go for creative arts NAP. ...how the heck does Janae have 200 influence points!? Ah well, creative NAP is assured at this point then.
Setting Jayden to chat with Kevin, since evidently in the household description, Jayden’s supposed to look up to Kevin. Might as well have Kevin ask Jayden about holiday traditions. “In my home, you can tell it was the holidays when all was playing was the Winter Holiday radio station.” Bold face lie that! The blues is what’s playing day in and day out!
...so Janae got the Music Lover pop up while writing? Nah, ain’t accepting that trait! Give us bookworm or creative next time!
Ohp, Jayden maxed social while getting this chat in with Kevin. That’s one skill we don’t have to worry about for him!
And during all of the needs fixings and such, Kevin needs his sleep now. Darn. Welp, guess we’ll focus on who’s awake now. Which is Sidney and the soon to be at work Marcel. Oh and Savannah but she’s off gaming. As a gamer does.
Sidney wants to ask his girlfriend over and so we shall! Autumn Ziggler, one of the promotional families made for Dream Home Decorator. Oh and both of them feel grumpy because no prom invite. Alas! Might as well ask her about holiday stuff. She likes the food and while she likes her classics, she likes trying out other traditional foods around the world. Fitting, honestly. Anyway, if anyone’s an amateur photographer, it’d be Sidney so let’s take a selfie with his date!
Casual chatter, Autumn introduced herself to Savannah and then Savannah turned on the alternative music, the type Sidney doesn’t like. Welp. To workout!
Marcel came home from work and he’s the one with the highest cooking skill around here. Time for him to make the Brigaderio. It’s a confection popular in Latin America and is evidently seen everywhere carnival time in Brazil.
It’s 10PM and time for everyone who has school to head to bed! Even if they just woke up! Bedtime!
Hmm. The only one who’s active, energized, and able to do things is Marcel. Might as well have him hit up a bar or a lounge. Closest is...ah, it’s Glimmerbrook. That’ll be fun! Man, sure are a lot of elders at this bar how unusual! I thought bars were only for young adults and adults? Hmm. It's as if it pulls from a certian specific type of person. An occult perhaps. Hmm.
I completely didn’t notice it was New Skill Day. Welp.
Right, drink drunk, after a long chatter that delayed going to the restroom for an age, and we’re back home at 5, making it time for-!
Neighborhood Watch!
Copperdale: The Gilbert household recently moved in.
Oasis Springs: The Takeuchi household has moved in.
Sergio Romeo in the Romeo household left his job as a The Next Big Thing? In the Start-up Entrepreneur career.
Johnathan Ely in the Ely household has died. Johnathan tried fixed the toilet and it randomly burst into flames.
Right, teens and kids! Nap time before school for all of you! Blues tunes for Marcel before bed and Janae wants to get a promotion so let’s have her look at the stars. Which ties into her aspiration to get 3 logic! Right, holding off of the last night chat about holiday traditions because it’ll be time to bring Kevin and other teens to school. I will have plenty of opportunity to do it there.
Snap, a bug that’s rended it’s head in another file is true here. The goals for school only are showing up for one of the selected students. Ah well. Hmm. No chatting to students about holiday traditions showing up. Hmmm. Might have to save that for after school...in which all of these guys have their after-school activities happening. Welp. Our no-goaled Kevin and Sidney can’t seem to be able to head to their school activities so home and then off they shall go.
Marcel wants to head to the library and- wait. I can’t ask anyone about holiday traditions...RELOAD. School just breaks everything. Alas. I’ll just have Kevin go out after practice today. Or just ask a teen on the street.
Oooh, Janae got a thing about finding accounts that don’t match up. Hmmmmmmm. She feels more like a co-operate stooge to me. One who wishes to have secretive accounts.
Right, Marcel is up and wants to watch some comedy tv. Might as well do that! Next whim is to go and win a chess match. Which I will do...after I say hi to the new neighbor. Say hi to new neighbor and then bring them over to the library. ...never mind she’s a cop! RUN AWAY!
Huh. Tried going to the library to do a chess thing and we can’t. Judging by the bug forums, it seems to be an issue that happens during events such as Cozy Celebrations. DANG. Well, let’s head home. ...and the goals dropped. Still have that issue which is so annoying! Ugh. Time to reload again!
Right, whims and sleep and everyone off to school has been done. Now Marcel’s whims are reading a book and looking on the brightside...which I can only do while he’s in a bad mood and after that holiday, he’s doing peachy.
Let’s see. I’ll set Jayden up with his school project. It’s Monday so all kids and teens get sent home with those since I haven’t gone into school yet. But now, it’s finally time for Kevin to ask a teen about their holiday traditions! It is done and now we are to document said traditions!
Right, we’re onto next week’s and oooo! It’s time to make some chocolate chip cookies and coquito! Kevin, it’s time to raise your cooking skill! And we need to learn some mixology skill as well. I’ll leave that up to Marcel.
...hmm. I really need to take Kevin to the city to learn at the very least curry but...ah, the City is full of stalls now. -sigh- Some point, at least. ...oh he does have cooking skill up to level 3! Time to make some cookies! Cookies made and munched! Since so many of the household was slightly peckish and such. Time for bed for all! And thus it’s time for-
Neighborhood Watch!
Nothing of note has happened recently. Check back tomorrow.
...can I get away with going to school? The goals are to prepare a drink and to watch tv sooooo...hmmm. HMMM. I think I can risk it. Should also check and see about after-school clubs. ...yes to Kevin and Savannah, Computer Club folks. No to Sidney. Good to know!
Right, at school. Doing the usual “first day” orientation. And class, which is social studies. Gives writing, selvadoradian culture and archeology skill. A nice trio there ...you know what I always appricate about school food. It looks just unappealing enough that I’m always like “ugh, I should bring food from home.”
Right had food, introduced Kevin and Sidney to more teens! And then we’re back at class. Language Arts. Which I nearly said English. But it is NOT! If anything it’s Simlish. Anyway, it’s writing skill.
And you know what? I decided to set up a cheer team for Sidney! Since cheering is such a social activity and all that jazz. At some point, should drop by Willow Creek and add a cheering area. FAREWELL YOGA MATS. We have a new purpose for that upper corner now!
...and the watch TV event cleared off as I came home. Ah, because Marcel and Jayden are in seperate corners of the house, watching seperate things. Hmm. To that I say...nah. Let’s actually get the whole family together to watch a movie. Might as well make some “juice” while Janae makes supper.
Tumblr media
What a rare scenario. Family movie night.
Huh. Having a joke between Marcel and Janae got the jokesters dynamic to pop up. Sure! She would be the first person he’d share his jokes with!
Let’s see, Jayden still needs to make a BFF so best way to do that is to just chat online. Savannah shall hack before going to bed, get some cash flow for her materialistic wants. Sidney wants to jog so let’s do a jog! (Wait, I should have done a cheer! Alas!)
WAIT! Instead of Willow Creek for the cheer space, there’s some upstairs space at Thrift Tea! Let’s add some cheer mats and make that into our cheer training spot! Later.
Hmm. Marcel has some social juice left in the tank and I’m not too satisfied with who he knows so far. Let’s save and then see about going to someone-within-the-“local”-area.
Wait no! Other idea! Co-workers! Let’s temporarly set up a club to know his fellow writers! Right, Gavin Richards will be the first to be befriended. Or at least generally chatted at until he needs to sleep.
Right, Marcel’s time to join others in sleep which means!
Neighborhood Watch!
Henford-on-Bagley: The Vega household moved out.
Dylan Maguire in the Maguire household has started a job as a New Hire in the Salaryperson career.
Willow Creek: The Eddie Landry household moved out.
Farewell local nerd! Farewell.
Right, today is a send-the-kids-off-to-school day and so, off they go! And once Janae leaves off for work, this leaves Marcel the sole person left in this household. And he has a want. A want to prank! Hey local vendor Cecila Watt! Time to be pranked! Anyway, since we have a few hours until work, let’s actually get some writing in before it happens. ...the Great Pickle Capers, huh? Sure that’s a fun title that could work for a book.
Kids and teens are back from school. Oooo, Savannah wants to be disliked by her high school rival Molly. Why don’t we head over to her house and get a-poking at her. See what she’s actually like before we argue with her? Save first in case of goal dropping ...Savannah does have a second rival outside of Molly. Tane Ngata, a nerd. Does he hate her fellow intellectuals? Can there be only one!?
HUH! Janae got the fear of a dead-end job. I mean, fitting for her aspiration, which requires her to hop between jobs but interesting.
Right, that’s a good chunk of Molly’s relationship meter in the red. Let’s go and set Savannah’s characteristics to dislike Cerebral Sims! Can’t stand her fellow nerds ...HA! She does not care for her father anymore! He’s a bookworm so I think that works against it.
Right, uh, Sidney needs to introduce himself to more folks around. Let’s just head to the pier area and see who’s around to say hello to.
Oof, Jayden’s in a bad mood. Was around Kevin when he was blasting tunes. Not good. And now his dad, who failed to calm him down, is going to be the target of his ire. Yeesh! Already got a pop up for Difficult dynamic! Nah, this is a one time thing...for now.
Ohp. Offscreen, Sidney’s getting a good relationship with a teen he striked up a friendship with. Nice. Sentiment of good times and all.
Huh, Jayden can’t say sorry. Maybe he just hasn’t been taught it yet! Marcel, now that Jayden’s in a better mood, time to do so!
And thank goodness. Savannah got her focused moodlet boosted video game thing before the effect wore off.
Marcel you may be in an awful mood, but it’s time for you to make a drink. Even if it’s just for you and it’ll taste awful. Gotta skill up!
Not quite 5AM but Sidney is up. Guy decided to take a snooze when Savannah was off doing her thing. Plenty of time to scramble some eggs for folks for breakfast at least! Need more than two hours for me to actually make breakfast with it’s cook times. Sounds about right.
Ha! He has the Loud phase where he’ll play music but he hates the music that’s associated with that phase, alternative. Let’s just put on some pop tunes. ...oh hell yeah! We got Janelle Monae’s song playing! Let’s gooo!
Anyway, it’s time for-
Neighborhood Watch!
Nothing has happened recently. Check back later.
Right, needs management tango. I keep evidently having people walk into each other for toilets and shower usage. Whoops.
Today is another teens at school day! Let’s see, instead of studying, Savannah’s going to work on her needs, and her after-school activity’s task and practice programming. Sidney wants to do things with his aspriation so let’s head on in and talk to folks. ...let’s get to know Tim, fellow cheerleader. Meanwhile, Kevin wants to be romantic and, well, Olivia Kim-Lewis is now available! ...oh she did not like that. Whoops! Probably the social awkwardness kicking in, since he barely knows her ...Kevin can perform a smooth recovery!? What is this? Nah. Not yet.
Right, looks like today is...I want to guess Business, judging by the whiteboard and charisma gain. Aha, Savannah got a pop up about how business class is reading a book about someone who’s already rich giving advice. Thankfully, her teacher approved her pointing that out.
...bleh. We’re at the point of the Computer Whiz aspiration where we’re gated by age. And a job. I really don’t want to go tech guru for Savannah. Doesn’t seem fitting for her. We can aim to make a video game though before switching aspirations.
Lunch break but thanks to scrambled eggs, we don’t need it! So it’s time to be social for Sidney, meet the two last teens he doesn’t know in this school, Savannah will program some more, and Kevin will chat with Olivia some more.
...oh hey! We got a prom date invite from Ken! He isn’t even in this school! Just burst into another school to invite a friend to a friendly prom date. Cool! Might as well!
Right, I can not tell what this class is. Foreign Language! Evidently Kevin has no clue if his teacher told him he has the okay to go to the restroom. And whoops, evidently he asked for a banana instead.
After-school courses for everyone today. I would have Sidney pop over to the Football event after school since he’s a cheerleader but eh, we have seasonal goals to achieve ...Savannah somehow has denention. Must have forgot to send her back to class? That is going to mess with Sidney and Kevin’s after school stuff, alas.
Oooooh! Holy crap! Marcel got a fame pop up about getting a movie deal out of his books! That’s cool! He wouldn’t care about not retaining creative freedom. MOVIE! And unintetionally gets suckered into making his book a series. Good thing we didn’t publish any books yet so I can still write whatever! Hehe.
Let’s see, Janae, clumsy as she is, wants to learn handiness, which somehow conteracts that. Sure! It counts for skilling. Cheering for Sidney (then jogging), gaming for Savannah. Kevin...still wants to smooch. Oh Olivia!
Oooh, Marcel got the success pop up. Probably the fame thing. Wants to be an overachiver, like his son now. Sure! And now he wants to prank. I see Baako Jang on the streets! A perfect prank opportunity.
Ooo! He’s friends with Olivia! Let’s try flirting with...no? Aww. I think there is only one recourse...social bunny messages! Since being flirty in dms I believe does count. And might as well check Sidney’s and Savannah’s as well while we’re at it.
Ohp, before Kevin goes to bed, time to finish off that Coquito! Second set of goals achieved! Nice! And with that, everyone’s headed to bed! So now it’s time for!
Neighborhood Watch!
Del Sol Valley: The Ferris household moved out.
Jayden is up first though, and is hungry. Time for food for everyone who wakes. Huh. I got a good segway into asking about holiday songs. Jadyen put on pop tunes, which Savannah hates so she’s going to blame him for the bad mood. We now have listening to winter holiday station. Kinda out of season, since it’s spring but ah well. I ain’t waiting until winter to do this event.
Oooh, a broken toilet! Finally! Time for Marcel to repair an object! Next’ll be a logic skill gain, which we’ll get in time.
Right! Save and then we’ll head off to the library! Marcel wants to meet someone new and the library is a good place for it! Bernice Robles! Nerdy businesswoman. Let’s work on the next book though, get some good progress in before we get some lunch at the restaurant across the street. Could go for a simple munch at a food stand but again, it broke. And I want lunch out!
Special is...ooo, fancy. Steak Tartare! (Despite the fact it’s level 1 homemade cooking because it’s raw meat and egg) Lunch took so long that it’s dinner, then again, it was 2PM. But it’s past 5 and so it’s cheer day! Let’s go home and pick up Sidney and then head over to school!
Alright! Let’s save and- oh no. Oh no. I checked if we could research holiday traditions after saving and we can’t! Nooooo! I doomed me! Right, if I remember right, my work-around was to make a completely different sim family and that would reset it. Cool. Good to know. I’m still going to play out this specific day!
Tumblr media
Sidney is completely outshining his fellow cheermates. Anyway, Geeta Laurent decided to join the team, so let’s...hey now! You can’t refuse your cheer team!
Bah, anyway, cheer event done and dusted. Let’s go and get a munch! I feel like the pier.
Right, I’m hoping for spring vendor to spawn in so I’ll give it an hour. For right now, let’s befriend Geeta Laurent and...oh my go we already are friends with 12 sims. Dang Sidney. Right, Sidney's home. Time to get the rest of the family food.
Janae wants to be energized which works out well because she is burnt out from working hard and one of the days to get that cleared is to workout. So coffee and workout tips for her and then a long jog.
Setting Savannah to hack and I guess Kevin shall finally get some more homework done. You would think I would be better about that since his aspiration requires it but man, I’ve had things to do!
...how is it past 5 and onto Talk Like a Pirate Day already!? Time for-!
Neighborhood Watch!
Willow Creek: The Flores household has moved in.
Aahana Mahajan in the Mahajan household left her job as a Deep Sea Fishing Master in the Fisherman career.
I’ll break it up here. With the goals being borked again, I’m going to need to dip into a different save file real quick.

vinny there is NOTHING wrong with your taste! i mean, oh wow yeah that lofi playlist is like... depressing as hell, and thats coming from me who loves sad music. i like my melancholy to be melodic though, like Beirut or Eva Cassidy.
those lofi beats are so odd... its like hip hop/r'n'b beat while there's like elevator lounge piano musak playing over the top? it's vaguely bon iver remix as well. i think remixes in general annoy me, but i do love interesting covers that change genres. i remember when biffy clyro covered a female artist in the BBC Live Lounge and didnt change the pronouns, and this was about 15 years ago so it was still controversial for a dude to be singing about another dude in a song. i thought it was so fucking cool they did it. and ofc kings of leon's Live Lounge cover of Robyn's Dancing on my Own is one of the greatest ever!
i grew up when chart pop was big singers and big production - leona lewis, timbaland, mariah carey. the lofi singing style popular today is perhaps a movement in response to that? it speaks of the depression and isolation of gen z too i think.
what do you play to chill out when over-stimulated vin? i love happy pop, i love motown and 70s disco too, but I gravitate towards calmer sounds when i need to chill, but it's usually film scores or classical i go for. Or maybe Paul Carrack or like, soft rock and yacht rock. I learned to latin dance in covid times so I got into Rumba music and Latin beats which are slow and cool too.
EDIT AND I CBA TO RETYPE THE TOP BIT:
I just googled the biffy clyro cover and it's Love Sex Magic by justin timberlake and ciara and OMG in another universe this absolutely IS a Will the Wise giving Paladin Mike a lap dance song ahahahahhaha. i mean, the talk and response verses?? Mike doing a little verse while Will dances around him, lifting his swirling robes to reveal literally nothing underneath??? Ahhhhh i love!
Aww, well thank you! And I don't think there's anything wrong with those who like the literal opposite of what I'm into, I just find it amusing whenever there's disbelief over what I don't like. It's fine! I'm just rather picky. And I love music, but you know people who say music is their life, their number one passion, can't be seen without their headphones/earbuds? I wouldn't put myself in that category. It's a big part of my life and of course I love music, but I'm less staunch or verbose about music than other topics.
My chill out music is definitely film/TV scores, more subtle stuff. Some favorites: Annihilation, Hereditary, Tron, Arrival, Social Network, ET, Blade Runner, LOTR, and then just random tracks from a bunch of stuff. I really like horror movie themes. Even from stuff I've never seen. None of this is what I'd listen to casually, but you gotta have music to put in the earbuds when you need to center yourself. Take a long walk in the woods, put background noise to not distract as you write. That kind of down beat low mood lofi stuff?? Ain't it for me. And cheesy as fuck, but the retro folk rock playlist my bf adds music to for me to check out?? In love. Grounds me and mellows me out. Useful when I fall into to my high strung anxious mess moments. But he's such a calming presence and I've found I really do vibe with this part of his music taste. Never would have sought it out on my own.
OH!!! I know a weird one. Sometimes I like music that sounds like a 50s housewife in some deranged home shopping mania. Like the old Sims music!! Not often, but when the mood strikes that's a fun music vibe. It's slightly unhinged and I'm into it. Anyone have a type of music that's really, really off-kilter for them that just scratches something you can't quite explain?
i grew up when chart pop was big singers and big production - leona lewis, timbaland, mariah carey. the lofi singing style popular today is perhaps a movement in response to that? it speaks of the depression and isolation of gen z too i think.
This seems to nail it - it also speaks to just the general vibe of this generation. Look at the fashion styles and decor styles. I think minimalism had a really long moment with gen z and it reflects musically as well. I'm someone in a constant identity crisis because I was born right on the cusp of where most split the generations and I never know where I stand because people put so much identity into collective generations and I'm just living, people are born every year. Because I just feel out of place so often, but that's been the general story of my life. ANYWAY.
Your vision ahhhhh. You had me at "Will the Wise giving Paladin Mike a lap dance" like that is genuinely a top tier visual. Thank you for that. What happens in the dark corner at the back of the town's seediest tavern stays in the dark corner at the back of the town's seediest tavern 🤭
