Ok need to put some thoughts out there about the new Amazon prime show Class of ‘07 bc I’m still here chewing on it. This has spoilers so I’ll try to do a cut thing (sorry still new to actually posting on tumblr lol). I think I want to just talk about the ending in this post.

Okay, I actually really loved the ending of s1, and it took me a second to understand why it felt like such a familiar experience. Like I’ve never had to live through an apocalypse where I am trapped with people from my high school on our old school grounds which is now just an island (thankfully, and knock on wood that never happens). But seeing all the women running to the cliff side with excitement thinking that maybe someone has come to save/help them, and then realizing very quickly that what is coming is not going to be their salvation…

Like something about that experience just felt very familiar and such a woman experience. I feel like I can’t be the only one who has had this type of experience where you think maybe it might be nice to have someone else around for their help, and it is a man, so you try to keep an open mind, but literally the moment they open their mouths, you regret it and immediately have to go back to defensive mode. Like seeing all the women pick up rocks and their knives as these men are yelling at them to “fire up their stoves,” that just tore me apart (but in an emotionally compelling way which is why I actually really did like that ending). I don’t think I’m saying anything that relevant or mindblowing, but I just wanted to put it out there. Trying to find more commentary on the show to see how other people view it.

As someone who adores the relationship between Amelia and Zoe… y’all gotta stop shitting on the show for not making them a thing.

They had to be the least queer coded duo in the entire show. Not a hint of romantic attraction. Not to mention, Amelia is MARRIED??? and in LOVE ??? Like she hasn’t even begun grieving Danny, so much so that Zoe keeps talking about finding him.

How can you guys be mad when clearly the first season was about repairing female friendships??? I mean, next season has two women raising a baby together… Sandy is deeply queercoded, as is the relationship between Renee and Phoebe. Even Saskia gives me the vibes.

What’s bad about two women who are just platonic? Y’all think those ones can’t be tortured, pining and complicated? That they aren the love of each other’s lives? Maybe let the ace community win this round.

At the very least stop shitting on a show that only just completed the arc of its first season: repairing childhood traumas that are imbedded in teenage girl dynamics.
