To celebrate our anniversary, we wanted to be able to share some tips and advise to you. Whilst you are spending a lot of time at home, maybe there are things you would like to change or do and we would like to be able to offer you some free advice. Today we are giving TIPS WHEN BUYING A SOFA When you invest in a sofa or armchair, it is a big decision that requires consideration and research. Often we love a style of sofa so then just look around for the cheapest version of this, but please remember, cheapest is not necessarily the best quality. Here are some important things to look at Colour - Whatever colour you chose, get a sample of the fabric and see how it looks in your room, the lighting is different in every room and will look different in a showroom or in a picture. We often fancy a change and sometimes might want to be brave and have a colour rather than a neutral colour. When doing this, always try and think ahead, would you be sick of this colour in a few years, if yes, go neutral, if not then go for it. Martindale test/rub count - Some of you might be asking what this is, the durability of the fabric is based on this and is determined by a machine that runs back and forth over the fabric until the fabric is worn down. We always recommend the minimum of 20,000 or higher as a great place to start, don’t buy a sofa with anything less. Leather doesn’t have this as it is a natural product, but faux leather does. This should be the most important thing to consider when buying you sofa. Cleaning - Always check if and how it needs to be cleaned. Some fabrics need to be cleaned with a water based cleaner and others with a professional grade cleaning solvents.
