If I had a nickel for every time a Horror broke into the Hamato house, I’d have two nickels. Not a lot, but it’s weird it’s happened twice. (The Naomi situation jumpscare was the first time)
The Hamato Clanhouse and Splinter's clinic aren't the same place, so I'm not sure it counts.

The aniki sa apota cultivate many types of fruit tree, but the staple across much of their culture is a kind of low-growing plant with a large fruit, grown at the bottoms of valleys. It has been a major food source in the Permorsij region for a long time, but occasionally has low yield if periods of rainfall are unusually long. The common staple livestocks are a kind of invertebrate usually eaten in its larval form, and an egg-laying vertebrate, kept for its eggs.
Clanhouses on agricultural land are the only houses able to grow much fruit, but most houses keep some livestock of their own. Apota from other houses employed by an agricultural house are given a portion of the crop for their own house, which is the usual way of acquiring food. A house without any members employed by an agricultural house will trade for it instead.
Worldbuilding Wednesday
Hey folks, Arch here! Back with another Prompt for the week, in what's almost become a continuing mini series.
Tell us how a society in your setting produces and distributes its food! What kinds of crops or livestock have become staples, and has the answer to that changed over time? Do specific groups or organisations specialise in making food, or does everyone? How do people within that society get produce for themselves? Is this society entirely self sufficient, or does it rely on imports?
Tagging @athenswrites @theprissythumbelina @hessdalen-globe @thatndginger @caxycreations @nerdexer @avrablake and anyone who'd like to take part! And, if you'd like to be added to this tag list, let me know!

Hi tempenensis, do you know where are Gojo clanhouse and Kamo's located? Is it in Kyoto same with Zenin's? Also, did Gege ever draw Gojo's clanhouse in the manga?
Gojo clanhouse I think once? It's not confirmed but I guess that's the decrepit house in Fushiguro's flashback during Shibuya arc
Tumblr media
When Yu-un was left by OG Getou after his defeat in Tokyo school, it became a source of ownership conflict between Zenin and Gojo clan. But it was then won by Gojo clan - which is why it was stored in Tokyo school and Maki can use it. From the implication of this, it seems that Gojo clan's area is mostly centered in Tokyo.
There's zero information on Kamo but considering that Noritoshi goes to Kyoto school, I think it's near Kyoto? rather than Tokyo

Idk if its been said yet but the whole "sharing homes with friends" is slowly making a comeback! Because most people cant afford to live alone!! It's close to impossible to live alone without stretching money and putting unnecessary stress on yourself. I've heard them be called clanhouses now and its a bunch of (hopefully) friends and probably a couple of siblings living together, splitting rent and helping eachother and living a better life in a nicer house than they could've had by themselves! I myself have plans to live in a clan house with a handful of friends and my sisters (5 others so far)!
it seems so strange to me that the only people it is socially acceptable to live with (once you reach a certain stage in life) are sexual partners? like why can’t i live with my best friend? why can’t i raise a child with them? why do i need to have sex with someone in order to live with them? why do we put certain relationships on a pedestal? why don’t we value non-sexual relationships enough? why do life partners always have to be sexual partners?

I picture you as a Japanese sword master with ninjutsu skill using hand and feet brace-claws to hover silently, affixed to a cieling for 5 hours waiting for the rest of the household to attain deepest REM sleep and the external (already-bypassed) guards to grow weary near the end of their uneventful night shift for the moment when you shift the angle of your metal alloy claws to drop silently next to your deep sleeping rich entitled and evil - exploitative - human quarry (who happened to snore loudly for the first two hours, and therefor would have been an error to assassinate too soon into the night) and wield the short, wood-hilt dagger you had clutched between your teeth all that time with the signature Flute Of The Fallen Tiger jugular cut (which releases a blood-spray that actually creates a melodic tone from the spurt pressure) . . . then to easily bypass guards back to the clanhouse for debriefing and payment <3 [but all super hot looking at the same time, no doubt]
Wellll I’m a big cosplay fan. And i thank you for the compliment.

WIP Wednesday but it's actually Thursday
I was tagged by my talented friend @tallmatcha for WIP Wednesday but because I am the way that I am, I'm doing it on Thursday instead lmao.
The following snippet is from an upcoming TES (Skyrim) project called "Magelight," which is a College of Winterhold prequel that explains what happened to cause the Great Collapse. Read under the cut for the snip!
The flame she could produce was passable. Not spectacular, only about three-quarters the size of her palm, but it was awfully cold this far up in the mountains, and Finnegil was having difficulty getting herself in a state of mind to summon the necessary heat. She wiggled her fingers a few times, tried squeezing her eyes shut to concentrate really hard, and even recited some ancient spells she’d read in some old magic books long ago. None of it really worked; the fireball remained the same size.
She sighed, slumping over and huddling into her tattered, patchwork robe for warmth. The carriage bumped and swayed as they travelled over the cobblestoned roads, snow thick on the ground aside the main roads. By this time, she’d already traveled thousands of miles through Cyrodiil and most of Skyrim with her rather disagreeable carriage driver, who charged her an extra ten Septims every time she asked how far away they were. She had abandoned her friends and family in Valenwood to seek entrance to the College of Winterhold, the only sanctuary for the arcane arts in the harsh lands of Skyrim—and if she failed to gain entrance and had to return home, she would be an embarrassment.
Finnegil stuck a hand in her robe pocket until she found the flower. Before leaving home, she’d plucked a flower from the Domica Redwort, an herb from Valenwood known for its vibrant red color in bloom, to bring with her to the College. In the garden behind her family’s wooden clanhouse, nestled in one of the most lush parts of the forests, her mother always grew Redwort. She pulled the flower out and pressed it to her nose, inhaling the sweet scent. The Redwort smelled like home and the forest and the breeze blowing between the leaves of a tree.
After tucking the flower back inside her robe, Finnegil retrieved ten Septims from the leather pack by her feet, which contained all of the meager possessions she’d brought with her. Leaning over to the carriage driver, she dropped the coins on the seat beside him. “How far away are we now?”
The driver grunted. “For Gods’ sakes, lass, it’s a bleedin’ blizzard out here. Can’t you tell we’re almost there?”
Finnegil ignored his barbs, instead shooting him a grin. “Great. Thank you, sir.”

*My eyes get a little misty and sad hearing him* We keep the clanhouse very quiet, never any yelling. The only expectations are that you attend your training and lessons each day with the others and help with chores, but we can discuss all of that later. We’d like you to stay, too. We all feel safer having you here, little fighter. *opens arms to him, but stays back so he has space* Would you like a hug? If you don’t want to yet, that’s okay. We can start getting your bath ready. 🍪
Our lil Po has been through alot 😭

Chinese New Year in Penang & Kek Lok Si Temple
--
[IAN:] The lights at Kek Lok Si Temple were wild.  The pictures tell most of the story: it was like the most elaborate Christmas light display in the history of the world, except done by Chinese Buddhists.  The monks or whoever must have been playing an extended game of “yes, and” with gaudy light decorations.  The experience of walking around was a little surreal, in a very pleasant way.  Something like a Chinese hallucination of Las Vegas.  I was really tired when we got to the temple, but I felt compelled to explore more and more - what’s up the next flight of stairs? what’s in that little shrine? - because the lights were so fun and inviting.
[WENDI:] I’d always wanted to celebrate Chinese New Year in Asia, and due to complications in China and Hong Kong, we chose Penang for this trip. Yeah, Kek Lok Si temple feels like a Disney World fireworks show… quite over the top, but still striking in all its force. The Chinese New Year festivities in Penang were also a treat. Penang houses several kongsi’s, clanhouses dedicated to the biggest and most powerful Chinese families -- they all opened up for the big parade night. There were 10-15 stages set up across the city -- with shows featuring acrobatic lion dances, dragon dances, taiko performances and more.

Clanhouse castles
Don’t confuse my hatred of the hyperwealthy for jealousy over what they have. I don’t want a six figure sports car, or a 40 room mansion, or a gold leaf truffle wagyu steak dinner. I want redistribution of wealth that allows for infrastructural support of all citizens’ basic survival needs.

In a pretty drastic comparison to the Cameron Highlands, the next stop on our trip was absolutely awesome. We ended up staying for five days in George Town, a UNESCO world heritage sight and home to a diverse and multicultural population. The city is a treasure trove of old colonial buildings, bustling enclaves of culture, Chinese mansions, mosques, beautifully restored shophouses, and a wide array of art from the traditional to street art by Georgetown’s most beloved graffiti artist Ernest Zacharevic. Not only is the city a joy just to wander around (except between the sweltering hours of 12-2), but it’s home to loads of really great museums and restored buildings. Top of our list had to be the Penang base of Dr Sun Yat Sen, leader of the 1911 Chinese revolution. The house was a beautifully restored shophouse, and told the story of the Chinese revolutionary’s activities in Malaysia. The Blue Mansion and Pinang Peranakan Masions were both amazing examples of the creativity and opulence of the wealthy merchants in the colonial era, as well as of the herculean feats of restoration efforts. And of course the incredible Khoo Kongsi Chinese clanhouse has to be mentioned. Maintained from the days where huge powerful Chinese families lived in large complexes literally covered in gold leat, the clanhouse is breathtaking in its opulence. Alright i’ll stop waxing poetically about the sights of George Town...with one last mention...the food was absolutely phenomenal! Some of the best we’ve had, for sure.
