#claiming Vermithor would make Daera the second OC who claims Vermithor though and idk about that

the real question is what dragon does daera claim?? i can see her with literally all of them

right??? that is what I am trying to figure out myself.

My first instinct was Vermithor because Daera claiming him and then using him to defend Rhaenyra’s crown would piss off known woman-hater Jaehaerys so much. Plus Daera deserves a grandpa who makes all her problems go away (by burning or eating them).

At the same time I can totally see her and Silverwing. Because as she got older Daera started to understand that contrary to little Daera’s belief, her grandmother was not all-powerful. So she grew to let go of some of her anger towards her - not all of it! but some - and bonding with her dragon might be a bit of a healing experience. And I also think Alysanne would 100% approve of Daera defending Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne with her old dragon, given that Alysanne herself tried to push for her and Jaehaerys’ eldest child, Daenaerys, to be Jayjay’s heir.

The funniest thing would be for Daera to claim the Cannibal but that would have to happen by accident because as much as I love Daera she would NOT go for the ugliest dog at the shelter. But I do find the idea of Daera returning to KL on this nightmare of a dragon, going ‘don’t worry, he doesn’t bite’ hilarious. Cannibal could kill a dragonkeeper and Daera would go ‘well they must have done something wrong. he would never do that unprovoked’ like a liar.
