Unfortunately we still have 16 Tory members of the Senedd. Fingers crossed for 2026. Andrew RT Davies can get fucked. (Most punchable face in politics).
THERE ARE NO TORIES LEFT IN WALES

May I also add to the pile the Epynt Clearance? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epynt_clearance
An underwater graveyard in Llyn Celyn, Wales. The village it was located in was flooded in the 60’s to supply water to Liverpool.

So about ten to fifteen years ago my kids were at primary school for a while with a girl called Sobriety. Her mum worked in a pub.
It’s funny to me that I’ve met people named Grace, Faith, Patience and Chastity. It is so funny that Puritan names have survived so long and are still so popular if you take a step back and think about it. She’s getting Starbucks today and accusing a townsperson of witchcraft tomorrow.

Already reblogged this before, but more people need to see this
I am actually begging some people to just let some spaces exist untouched by real-world issues and horrors.
Like I've lost count of the amount of times peaceful game or fandom servers have been ruined by people stampeding in with political rants, bitching about world issues, demanding internal activism, demanding vent channels so they can whine about their shitty parents, ect.
Like. Respectfully. Not every single space has to be inclusive of and welcoming of outside topics. The real world sucks. We don't needed to be reminded of that absolutely everywhere.

Yes they already have LGBT+ tags, what this will do is demonetise anyone using them.
Twitch is gonna start kinda censoring queer people and it would be really helpful if you could read the next few sentences and then also go to a link and click the word vote.
They're implementing a new rule where if you discuss "sensitive social issues" at all you have to flag your streams as such, these issues include things like war and political unrest but also any lgbtq topics (once again our existence is political).
Essentially a streamer will have to choose between never ever mentioning anything queer (or even just discussing their own life if they're queer themselves) or flagging every stream with "sensitive social issues" and scaring away 90% of viewers.
If you have a twitch account you can go here and log in and click vote. They do listen. Please vote.

So I've said this before, when the 'what's your AO3 user ID?' was doing the rounds on 911 Twitter, but AO3 user ID is the fandom equivalent of the challenge coin.
so i was interested in ao3's stats and found a post from 2013 where they were celebrating breaking 200,000 registered users. that number according to the ao3 homepage is now over 7 million! personally my account was founded 10/10/2012, so im curious:
feel free to reblog with your founding date in the tags (can be found in your profile info)
im purposefully making the non registered answers more vague bc bby why... get an account!

I clicked on the YouTube link and my two 18 year olds started singing along instantly. (Apparently they learnt the words and dance at Llangrannog)
why is there an anthropomorphic welsh candycorn in your bindle
that's Mistar Urdd! he's the mascot for Urdd Gobaith Cymru, a youth organisation in Wales that promotes the Welsh language via fun things like singing and sports and breaking world records (that's a long story).
he's basically our Mickey Mouse and everyone in Wales inexplicably loves this triangular man and his theme song!

This is interesting, because I think if you asked people in Wales to identify which area identifies more strongly as Welsh, a lot of people would guess North West Wales, or even Mid West Wales (Ceredigion). I'd imagine a lot of us have conflated high Welsh language use with identifying as Welsh, and the perception of Rhondda Cynon Tag is being a low Welsh speaking area. I think it's the problem of how do you champion a minority language without pushing the idea that you must speak Welsh to identify as Welsh.
Also I'd love to know why the English now prefer to identify as British. I mean I can make some guesses, but I'd love to see some data.
Most common national identity in the UK, 2021-2022.
During the previous census (2011), the most common national identity in England was English (except in London and Leicester). During the latest census, the most common national identity in all of England is British.

As someone who cries at the drop of a hat, this.
This is maybe a weird argument, but I wish that our culture attached less meaning to crying. It’s an involuntarily response, and for some people it’s a response that is easier to activate than others (like me, crying is my go-to whenever I experience strong emotions. Wish it wasn’t that way, especially for emotions like frustration and anger, but it is what it is).
And it’s like, I’ve been working on seeing crying as a neutral reaction to how I’m feeling, and not something that’s “bad,” and now one of the hardest parts is other people’s reactions to crying. People are so uncomfortable about it that they get fixated on “fixing” it even when there’s nothing that needs to be done. but there’s such a strong response to stop the person crying by either shutting everything down with “you’re being to sensitive“ or by forcing everything to a stop and trying to soothe or solve the problem without even checking to see if that’s what the person they are trying to help wants.
I think part of it is that people who don’t cry easily see someone crying and they’re like “holy shit, I would need to feel so incredibly terrible to respond that way!” But in reality that person just cries easier and it’s not anything particularly awful. And crying may be the fastest way for them to feel balanced and regulated again - it does good brain stuff.
And I think about like, situations where crying is weaponized. It really takes the power out of it if we don’t infuse crying with so much meaning. If crying isn’t seen as a call to action and is instead a biological response that will resolve on its own.
I remember reading a thing about the weaponization of “white woman tears” and there was a part that was like “ok but what if I’m genuinely about to cry and I don’t want to derail important conversations” and it suggested that you politely excuse yourself if you’re worried about not being able to keep composed or cry quietly and you might attract too much attention. Which is all well and good, but as long as we see crying as a problem that needs to be solved, there’s going to be people distracted by that, people who do get derailed. Who see it as a Big Important Thing instead of like, emotion sneezing.
Anyway, I’m thinking about this because of the whole Olympic boxing thing and how so many people are using the woman who lost’s tears as proof of something unjust / unfair and using it to justify their shittiness. And I was like damn. I would be very frustrated in that position.

The problem with Spock's World, is everytime I reread it I end up craving lasagne.
Via @timothypeel1 on Twitter: this quiet shout-out to Spock’s World in ST:SNW s2e5, revealing that T’Khut has become canon. ☺️
