Three Patrick Henry College students WON the Transatlantic Dialogues debate competition in Paris!
The PHC debaters conducted research, held practice rounds, and prepared for every possible question. Coach Ryan McDonald, who accompanied them throughout the tournament, commended them for their hard work and dedication, “It’s the fruit of years and years of preparatory work. This team succeeded in showcasing international brilliance due to a long-term commitment to the program, and I think that pays off.”  Read the full story here!

Patrick Henry College is pleased to announce that two PHC students are the champions of the Novice Final Round for the Miami Oceans Debate tournament! Ezekiel Johnson and Jesse Castrinos, who are in their first year of intercollegiate debate, won the tournament which was held at the University of Miami. 33 teams from 12 universities competed, arguing whether the acceleration of open ocean aquaculture is preferable. Additionally, PHC Senior Sarah Schmidtler was recognized as the 2nd place individual speaker at the whole competition! What a wonderful wrap-up for PHC's Civic Debate events!

PHC students Hannah Bruck and Eden Mackie were selected as the winning presenters at the International Holistic Justice Challenge hosted by California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, CA, in May! This was the first event of its kind hosted by Cal Poly, with the next iteration expected to occur this fall. Congrats to Hannah and Eden!

Patrick Henry College students take 1st and 2nd place at the National Christian College Forensics Association (NCCFA) tournament in Idaho this year. Ben Spivey and Aiden Forbes (both PHC students) locked out the final round of the International Public Debate Association (IPDA) Christian Championship! "We were sitting around the computer [not sure] if we were going to be able to do this," Forbes said. "Then, [the announcement] was out and it said 'Aiden and Ben' … It was really crazy.
