Some modern tbosas headcanons from my survivor class au some of them are slightly OC but hey I pretty much turned the lesser known tributes into my ocs at this point and some of these are taken from other people's headcanons

Panlo works at a bakery and he absolutely would knock it out of the park during the baking contest think pinkie pie level of profession

- circ works as a tutor and gives private lessons in coding to earn some money to help his father

- brandy is into mascot horror

- Otto and ginnee and Sol created their own band and otto and Sol have piercings , Otto plays the drums while ginnee the guitar and Sol sings

- Lucy gray is still performing with the covey and her family in this au died from a car accident because of this Lucy gray have a fear from speeding cars and always warn velvreene from driving too fast ( velvreene is a absolute s*** driver and failed her driving test 3 times in a row but bless her heart she doesn't give up)

- velvreene and Sol are the wealthiest of the friend group velvreene s parents are famous fashion designers and Sol's grandma is a CEO of a Big company and her aunt is a well known doctor but their friends don't care and don't treat them differently due to their economic status think Tiana and Charlotte friendship

- velvreene and facet spend lots of their quality time playing video games together even if they are not that good at it and if they are playing against circ and teslee they get so wrecked

- lamina works as a library assistant and is a complete book girlie although if anyone tried to bully her they would pay for it as lamina also take karate classes

- wovey and ginnee have their own little business where they sell handmade accessories they'd be an absolute unit during contests that involves crafts

- sheaf and treech both skateboards in empty pools so they are quite the experts at skating

- Sol needs glasses in this au and is into astronomy

Agree with how the fact that in tbosas ALL of the 24 tributes are named and are no longer just "the boy from number x " and " the girl from x " gives a level of closeness to the tributes and also that they are not dolled up and glamored and instead wear their own clothes from their districts gives hints to their lives (I personally have been going insane with the headcanons from analysing panlo and sheaf 's clothes) seeing facet and Velvereen wearing their school uniform reminds how they are just kids that should be in school not forced to fight for their lives and how circ and teslee are wearing factory bodysuits it shows the work labour they are forced into and that it wasn't enough for the Capitol to force these kids into child labour but also kidnapping them to die basically and how bobbin and wovey ' s clothes feel so homemade reminds how they have families back home grieving their lose

All the tributes are in the same boat none of them are happy to be in the games and none of them are fighting for glory they are all scared children being forced into a unfair situation against their well and all hate the Capitol for it they don't want to hurt eachother or view eachother as enemies we see it in how we see it in how Marcus comes back to get Lucy gray, Lucy gray letting wovey hold her hand , lamina comforting Marcus before killing him, reaper..in general, coral hating that she had to kill , none of them have any ill well towards one another there's also the tragedy that the tributes basically lived together in a way ,they travelled together and were stuck in the zoo together for days and now they are forced to kill one another adds alot more tragedy, and the fact that we got to see more of the district partners sticking together and caring about each other and being devastated by losing their district partner added alot more to how cruel the games are

One underrated thing that I loved about TBOSAS movie is how different the band of tributes feel, it’s really unlike the other films in a great way.

I don’t know if this is because I just got older but the tributes in this film seem a lot younger than the ones in the original THG film, I think they casted younger people in this film, but I couldn’t really confirm that. It hits just a bit harder seeing soft faced kids and teenagers killing each other instead of people who look like they’re in their 20s. (Wovey…😭😭😭) Also the group of tributes that worked together to kill as many people as possible…they acted like teenagers!!! It feels so different seeing a scrawny young kid bossing other scrawny young kids around instead of the gym bro beef chunks in the original film intimidating people to get what they want.

Also they’re all given names! Most if not all of them have a moment or two to shine! Few to none of them are fully pushed to the side or forgotten! Each of them feels important in some way.

Also this is after a big war that most of them remember and before the era of the career tributes so they feel so much more united and like-minded. The Capitol hasn’t had too much time or opportunity thus far to turn the districts against each other so they all hate the Capitol and they’re all treated equally. And they generally come across as so much more compassionate and friendly with each other!

I just makes me think about how in the original film, the games have been around for so long and the Capitol has such a close eye on everyone that deeper bonds and alliances before the arena are discouraged and the districts are fully turned against each other.

But in this film there’s only so many cameras and so many peacekeepers and so little time after the war that those familiar dynamics are stripped away, leaving tributes from equally destroyed and oppressed districts who are fully aware of how cruel the Capitol is; they haven’t yet fallen for the sneakier sides of the games.

Ok, so I was encouraged by literally two people thanks, @ylvisruinedmylife, and @boabelboo for sending me on this rant.

Circ is from District Three, where intelligence is everything if you want to live any type of comfortable life you need to have the best grades, the best test scores, and essentially be the cream of the crop unless you want to be stuck on the assembly line making pennies by the hour. He's spent his entire life trying to get the attention of those above him, he's worked himself to the bone in school and the factory in the hope of a single chance to improve his life.

Panlo, on the other hand, is from District Nine, a place full of rot and decay, neglected by the citizens of the capitol and districts alike. Nothing will change your social standing here, you will work in the mills or the fields until you die, unless, of course, you're one of the lucky few born into the merchant class. I also imagine Panlo as being a single father; his son, Milo, his mother is a merchant girl who viewed him as a way to rebel, against her parents' desires, when she got pregnant her family wanted nothing to do with the baby and gave Panlo money to take the boy and never bother them again.

In a world where they escape and are free from the Capitol's grasp, they can both offer the other the thing the other desires most. Panlo will admire circs intelligence but will not attempt to use it for his own gain. Panlo would encourage him to do things that make him happy and work for his own enjoyment, not to attract the attention of those who wouldn't appreciate him either way. Panlo would also relate his being from District 9 to Circs personal experience, helping him to understand that others' failure to notice or appreciate you is not your fault. I think the one thing Panlo would want is loyalty in return, someone he knows isn't going to leave him alone. A person who can love his son in the same way he does. Circ cares about Panlo because he's Panlo, not for any other reason he needs or wants nothing from him but his returned affection. I think some of the others would discount Panlo, labeling him some sort of screw-up for having a child so young as well as being illiterate (something I believe many of the children from lower districts are at this time), reducing him down to his physical strength only, not seeing the kind, caring person below. They both see each other in ways others fail to, and together they could make a great pair, working together for a great future.
