By • Olalekan Fagbade Activist Accuses ACP, two others of N80.4m extortion ; petitions IGP- its misinformation, Police Command react A human rights activist, Israel Joe, on Friday, petitioned the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over accusations of extortion to the tune of N80.4 million, allegedly committed by an Assistant Com­missioner of Police in Rivers State and two others. Joe, who petitioned the Po­lice Inspector General on behalf of Mr.Atubi Davidson, accused the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olayinka Ajeigbe of the Rivers State Criminal Investiga­tion and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, and two other officers, Emmanuel Eteng and Uche Ada, of taking away the said amount after breaking into Davidson’s house. According to the petition sighted by Daily Independent correspondent, the team of Policemen, led by ACP Ajeigbe, on Thursday, September 14, 2023, after entering the residence of Mr. Davidson, ar­rested everyone in the house and also allegedly took N80 million kept in the house. Joe, who claimed that the con­fiscated N80 million was for salary payment of pipeline surveillance contractors, accused the Police of only releasing N12 million out of the entire sum, while calling on the Inspector General of Police to intervene in the matter. Joe said: “I met with the As­sistant Commissioner (AC) State CIID and asked him what are you investigating the man for, the AC told me that it is an alleged kidnap case, that he doesn’t know if some­body will come and report that his money is missing or is a ransom money. That all they need to do is to see how they can manage the situation, that the money is about N100 million. “Major part of the money is in dollars. I told the AC they should charge him (Davison) to court if he has committed any offence. “When they saw that calls were coming from different angles, they called us, that they were going to release the two cars and any amount they release to him (Davison), he should manage it, that they are going to send 30 mil­lion naira to the IGP, N16 Million to the CP. “At the end of the day, the (Police) released the two cars, they released the Cheverolet and Toyota Camry car to him. They released only 12 million naira to him and took away a whopping sum of over 80 million naira along with his gold chain valued about N4 million, the two plasma tele­visions, shoes and clothes they carried from his house.” Responding to the accusations, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement, said the accusations were distortion of facts meant to misinform the public. Iringe-Koko, who said that the confiscated amount was intact as investigation into the matter was ongoing, added: “The Rivers State Police Command, in response to a widely circulated social media video by one Israel Joe, aims to clarify the situation concerning the arrest of Mr. Davidson John on September 14, 2023, by the Cybercrime Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Depart­ment (SCID) Rivers State Police Command. “The initial grounds for Mr. John’s arrest was rooted in alle­gations of involvement in cyber­crime and ritualistic activities. “Subsequent to a comprehen­sive search of his residence at No. 6 Peace Avenue, Ogbelu, Rivers State, Police Operatives discov­ered substantial sums of money in both domestic and foreign cur­rencies concealed in his premises, notably atop the ceiling. “Mr. John’s inability to provide a satisfactory account for the origin of this money led to his transfer to the SCID for further investigation. However, it came to light that the suspect had a uri­nary catheter in his stomach, ne­cessitating a medical assessment. Upon consultation with a medical professional, it was deter­mined that his health condition could not endure excessive stress, prompting a decision to release him into the custody of a reliable surety while investigations con­tinued.” She added: “Mr. John’s

father acted as his surety and requested financial assistance for his son’s medical needs. “The Deputy Commissioner of Police granted a partial release of funds on compassionate grounds for the suspect’s healthcare, while the remaining amount was metic­ulously documented and entrust­ed to the exhibit keeper. “Additionally, a gold necklace, reportedly obtained from an un­disclosed woman, was also regis­tered with the exhibit keeper. “The Rivers State Police Com­mand emphatically reaffirms that the entirety of the money is securely registered and under the custody of the exhibit keeper, thus refuting any insinuations to the contrary made by the suspect, as it is vital to get proper understand­ing of the reason behind conceal­ing such huge amount of money in cash in his house, as well as not being able to give full account of the monies. “The Command urges the pub­lic to dismiss the misinformation presented by Israel Joe, recogniz­ing it as a distortion of facts. Court sentences journalists to 5 months imprisonment over libelous publication

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital has sentenced two journalists to five months imprisonment or a fine of 100,000 each. The two journalists; Gidado Shuiab and Alfred Oluyemi were sentenced on two-count charge of conspiracy and defamation of character based on a petition filed by Hillcrest Agro-Allied Industries Limited, Amberi village in Kwara State. The duo are Editor and Correspondent of News Digest, an online news medium. Senior Magistrate A.S Muhammed stated that, the ruling on the case with file number MCIA/674C/2019 was in connection with his reflection on the provisions of Criminal Justice Law (2018), as well as section 417(2)d of the Kwara State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2018. DAILY POST learnt on Thursday that the company wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State over alleged libelous publication tagged ‘Kwara Factory where Indian hemp smoking is legalised’ published on the 26th March 2018 by the two defendants. The publication was described as malicious and character assassination aimed at denting the reputation of the company. The Kwara State Police Command, through sergeant Ayodele, the police officer attached to the State Criminal Investigation and intelligence department (CIID) upon investigation, prosecuted the duo owing to their acknowledgement and admissibility of the publication with no substantial evidence. Fernandez Raheem, the technical Assistant to the MD/CEO of the company while speaking with DAILY POST on Thursday noted that the company is not interested to witch hunt, harass or intimidate any person, group of persons but to clear the name of the company that it does not engage in illegal dealings. He added that the court on the 7th February 2023, sentenced the duo. He said, “This is not to witch hunt, harass or intimidate any person, group of persons or entity. “It was borne out of the desire to correct the malicious damage the said publication has created, and for the sake of emphasis that Hillcrest does not, and will never engage in any Illegal venture, now, or in the nearest future”. But, the counsel to the two journalists, Ibraheem Gambari when contacted on Thursday, added that the duo have the right to appeal the judgement. He added that he has been studying the judgement. He said, “The young journalists have the right of appeal and efforts are on top gear towards exercising that constitutional right. “We are studying the judgement right now and will do the needful soonest. “But for the delay in obtaining the Certified True Copy of the Judgement due to some administrative bottlenecks in the court’s registry, the notice of appeal would have been filed by now. Hi! My name is Ciid and I’m the person who played Stormy back when MLA0 was alive. Yes. The actual person. I was about 18-19 when my character first debuted, and I’m now 28!  I’m also non-binary! Pronouns are they/them. I’ve been around on tumblr since 2011.

Glad to see a lot of new faces getting into something I loved when I was younger.

I may look much different because of well, 1) age, 2) I got braces in my mid 20s, 3) gauged my ears larger, 4) cut my hair shorter/dye it frequently, and 5) I covered up my slenderverse tattoo with something else in 2019!
