guyz you know how Voncid is a hamsa? A parasitic god being that latches onto a human vessel and inhabits it’s body?
His vessel/companion is AZEM. His husband.
some things that I think back up this info:
In Our Unburied Dead, Beers-Weather speaks about a Vonsaied, not specifically a Voncid. She uses specific inflection to differentiate the two(plus I think she calls him ‘Cid’, his nickname) Vonsaied is a combination of Owen’s last name… and AZEM’S. I think Vonsaied is meant to be his Venerem form— monstrous and less in tune with humanity. Voncid chooses to seperate himself from his old self through Owen and his nicknames. If Azem is Voncid’s vessel, him inhabiting it would be a mixture of their souls… so combining the name would make sense.
In Travel By Train, Emea remarks than some vessels do not last longer than others. Havan has to deal with losing sync, and she mentions two names… one of them being ‘Ah-zem’. She claims that Azem has lasted longer than most have… WHO IS HE THE VESSEL TO, HMMMMM?
Also in Travel By Train, Voncid says that the souls of the vessels can survive the process of a Hamsa taking control, though unlikely. There is no evidence of a sort of ‘soul trapping’ magic in Ghost Wax, so the most likely explanation is that in order to keep Azem ‘alive’ or ‘present’, he took Azem’s body and out of sheer will kept his soul around. Hence the two auras, the two souls in a single body, etc.
The fact that consuming Azem in the finale made him monstrous. I think eliminating the soul would take the body with him. There is nothing left of Azem in the world, aside from Voncid’s lackluster memories.
THIS WHOLE ENTIRE TIME VONCID HAS BEEN IN HIS HUSBAND’S BODY. If Kozlowski felt so intertwined with his partner he wanted to consume him, Owen probably beat him to the punch. Literally TOOK OVER his husbands body after death. That is desperation. And it makes me very sad.

Episode 8 Woman in the Photograph - parallel with Voncid
Idk if it was planned or just s coincidence but the way Gloria (that's the woman's name I think?) was happy to stay confined to the photograph and her captor, to be devoured by the entity really reminded me of Azem and Voncid on my 2nd listen.
Azem was just as devoted and happy to give his soul up - he's already given up his body - to the entity he loved, if it could help.
Of course, there are significant differences, too. Voncid really is not happy about the whole situation and blames himself a lot, he didn't want to go back to the monster he used to be and, moreover, to devour his lover's soul even if it meant a catastrophy for everyone else. Literally "I choose you instead of the world", but Azem did not agree.
But it still hit me how that case should have felt for Cid, how he wanted to help those trapped people who really didn't consider themselves trapped and had to give up because there was nothing he could do if they didn't want to. Just like he had to give in in the end.

Oh damn Voncid would Fuckin Hate Kayne while kaynes just making silly jokes and also cid would be so understanding to John I think
He made himself better, (even if he struggles and hurts people) to protect the guy he shares a brain and body with
It's not cid and Azem but cid is way too empathetic and wouldn't be able to overlook the parallels
Game: choose a podcast character (or three), and then a second, different podcast to send them into for a while.
It could be to bully them, to give them some relief, or even just to see them interact with the characters that live there.

The sleeping pills have yet to kick in. Therefore, I’m going to go through my Ghost Wax playlists and explain my reasoning for certain songs. Starting with Cid. As usual most of this is post season one. This is going to get long so look and ofc hints of Vonzem/Goodnight Couple. And for this I’ll choose the lyric that cemented it as a Cid songs for me. Let’s do this!
Secret of Life- Lord Huron
To die for good, it must be earned/ The ways of death can never be learned.
Tbh, this whole songs just screams Voncid to me (I mean look at the title) There’s another lyric that also hits close to me with Cid but this. This one is mostly nodding to Voncid’s status as the last reclaimer. I can’t pull direct quotes just yet but the way he talks to Charlie and parallels there sheer differences hence my chosen for this one.
Thirteen Sad Farewells- Stu Larsen
Darling I should’ve said goodbye/ before you even caught my eye/ now I can’t bear to see this die
The first Goidnight couple song on the playlist from Cud’s perspective and how he can’t let Azem go and how he was willing to let the world burn just to stop from consuming Azem. I want to write a oneshot for this one tbh.
Achilles Come Down- Gang of Youths
Hurt and grieve but don't suffer alone/ Engage with the pain as a motive
More of a nod to post season one as if posting this I haven’t listened to the Patron episodes. But after consuming Azem I do think he is going to realize he isn’t as alone as he thinks. That his relationship with Azem helped him with his other relationships. He has Luca. He has Pip. He even has Emea. And they care about him. There’s more ofc but I think these three are going to be instrumental in helping him grieve with Azem.
1957- Milo Greene
Would it be much better if I knew nothing about you?
More Goodnight couple I can’t help it. Cid’s line in the finale where he’s talking to Azem and Azem tells him he is their love broke me.
Blood Upon the Snow- Hozier
It ceases never to hunger/ And all things nature's given/ She takes all things back from the living
Cid says Hamsa(sp?) are greedy things and somebody else said the hunger inside seemed personal. Then finally consuming Azem.
The Horror and the Wild- The Amazing Devil
Give me back my heart, you wingless thing/Think of all the horrors that I promised you I'd bring/I promise you, they'll sing of every time
More Goodnight couple. Can’t really explain my reasoning for this just trust me this is a Cid song.
Lonesome Dreams- Lord Huron
Where I'm lost and I'm on my own/ Left my best in the beats on this trip, baby/ Just please don't leave me alone
AND
The Ghost on the Shore- Lord Huron
All the dead seem to know where I am
Lord Huron is just Cid coded. Sorry I don’t make the rules
Human- Of Monsters and Men
Breathe in, breathe out/Let the human in/ Breathe in, breathe out/ And let it in
Cid’s relationship with Luca, Pip, Emea and etc.
Dear Fellow Traveler- Sea Wold
You spoke my language and touched my limbs/It wasn't difficult to pull me from myself again/And in our travels, we found our roads/You held it like a mirror, showing me the life I chose
Final Goodnight Couple song. Now I’m heading to bed I think.

Azem, pointing: May I sit there?
Voncid: That's my lap
Azem: That doesn't answer my question, Cid.
I can’t sleep have some more incorrect quotes

Of course! And here’s a hopeful spoiler free rundown!
It follows the last reclaimer (think Necromancer) Owen Voncid and his tech support, Luca. Voncid (who is often referred to as Cid) is pretty much immortal surviving by essentially body hopping but he’s been in this body for awhile (it’ll be explained and totally break your heart) calling what he is pretty much a parasite and greedy. For the longest time they had to write down the reclaimings because technology doesn’t like the reclaimings until Luca invented the ghost wax cylinders and caused an incident. And that’s the broad stokes of the story there’s more I will say it’s a little slow to get into and I had a few episodes I thought were boring but it is my favorite podcast! I hope this catches your interest! 😊
Oh you find podcasts by hearing people talk about them?
I find podcasts by searching for crossovers with my current fav and go from there

Ghost Wax relisten notes (spoilers!) Pt.2
Pt. 1
Episode 20 notes:
It seems to be the 1st properly plot-relevant episode. There are a lot of world- and character-building revelations, some of which are easy to miss (at least for someone who's bad at auditory processing like me and listens while working) but pop up at the 2nd listen.
For exapmple, Olivia says Do we know if it’s “foreign” or “domestic”? And Voncid answers: If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say we are dealing with something from before the walls went up.  I think I missed this entirely at first, but now I see why it's there. I like how subtly the worldbuilding was introdused - I was shocked to learn the truth in the end, but it was there all along.
Voncid "made" Olivia and it was what weakened him. It's still unclear what this means exactly though. To start with, what is Olivia? Is she a human? A rekindled? Or an entity inhabiting a woman's body, just like Voncid? Did he call her in there?
While recalling his past with Azem, Voncid says back then he didn't have a name and ate shadow. In a lot of cultures shadow refers to a human soul (not in sumerian tho, as far as I know?), and Pip called the aura/soul as something shadowy, so I think it's safe to assume "shadow"="soul" in this narrative. Cunning, Cid, very cunning.
Later Olivia says his name as "Vaun’ Sigh ’Ed" - is this the name of the body?
The Cypher basically layed out the whole worldbuilding and situation as early as in this episode but it was totally unclear out of context. I'm unsure regarding his understanding of Hamsa Order's aims though. Do they really keep the humanity alive just to harvest souls? There are no contradictons to this in canon so far - I mean the only "strange" cases we know of are coming from the Order itself, so it would be no trouble at all to conceal the ones caused by the Order. Although... with Pip around it might have become an issue? Then again, how much trouble can one person cause, right?
There are a few things established regarding the worldbuilding by then I need to make a note of:
There are several planes of existence.
The souls are real.
Human souls "travel" to some "other side" the entities from the Order - or, at least, Voncid, - seem to know nothing about.
The entities from the stars (hi HPL!) eat souls (and some bodies as well ig), came to Earth and devided it into parts between themselves. Apparently they have different ways of ruling their respective parts: e.g., Hamsa do everything in their power to keep the semblance of normalcy, of the world as it used to be before. It's unclear how much of the world they keep - may be just North America, but Russia isn't erased from humans memories, so maybe it too? would have been ironic af
Voncid is a "reclaimer". Does it mean he reclaimes the souls of people killed by Hamsa's rival entities from beyond the border? Are the souls meant for Hamsa after this or just cross over to the mysterious "other side"?
I like how Cypher's input puts things into a new perspective. For example, is Voncid so kind just because happier souls taste better or last longer? Rather, that's what the Cypher wants the others to question. Because I'm pretty sure there was no point to fuss over a single Observer who isn't even a human or a person anymore by any applied standards, but it was still so damn painful for Voncid to use them as a tool and a sacrifice. So we can believe at the very least not all entities view the humanity only as a resource.

Update I got them to listen and that’s mostly just me infodumping until they caved and listened.
Here is what I said for anyone curious so spoilers abound. I’m debating about relistening.
But GOOOODDDSSS when I tell you season 2 is going to be hell on Luca I mean it’s going to be hell. For starters his (now) ex boyfriend was using Luca to get close to people. He was a manipulative pos but he was charming.
Anyway now Charlie is kinda dead? It’s kinda complicated. He got stung by a killer bee but Voncid (who’s a Hamsa they are immortals who possess people) if you see where this is going. But Cid is basically a father figure to Luca because Luca’s family is shit. I have a hunch they knew he had holes in his soul and cultivated it. But that’s not proving yet. But basically Cid is possessing Charlie’s body know and Cid is training Luca in reclaiming (think necromancy) and I’m just thinking about how tough this is going to be on Luca. And how I have a hunch people are going to blame him for what Charlie did because he dated him and should have seen the signs.
About to be unhinged about Luca Eso.
Quick how to I convince my partner to listen to Ghost Wax so we can be unhinged together

It’s just my favorite podcast tbh. I’ll try to keep it has spoiler free as I can and I’m sorry in advance if some stuff slips through! It follows the last ‘reclaimer’ Owen Voncid as he does his job and investigates the deaths of people. I kinda see it as him being a ghost detective and a reclaimer is basically a Necromancer. Anyway Voncid or Cid as I often call him is introduced talking to Luca who is his tech support. Prior to Luca inventing the Ghost Wax cylinders they had no way of recording the talking of the dead. Technology just doesn’t like it and it tends to fitz out. Anyway Luca invented this and caused quite the stir so he was picked up by (Luca has his own thing going on but that might be considered spoilers). Anyway they are member of the order of Hamsa. Hamsa are beings who tend to body hop with people they have a compatibility with and are sworn with protecting the Vessel (which we all take as either being reality or Earth). No Hamsa has stayed as long as Cid as in one body but Cid as his reasons (it’ll break your heart)
The season is broken up into two parts. There’s 45 episodes in total out not including bonus stuff. In the second part they build up The Cypher or Mr.Media some more which is one of the Glorious. The Glorious are other beings from where the Hamsa had resided. Most of them are bad Mr.Media basically manipulates peoples relationships which the being does to Pip (who’s basically a seer of some type she reads tarot cards of other people and they turn out true) and Luca. Luca and Pip aren’t together though Luca is gay and they basically see each other as siblings. Uh, anyone else want to hop on and explain it better than I can? It’s really good and if you are interested I highly recommend you check it out episode lengths are 20-45 minutes in general.
If you have any questions feel free to ask! This podcast single handedly dragged me out of my creative drought lol.
Alright here I come Malevolent/Ghost Wax crossover because you won’t leave me alone.
