4, 23, 25, 15 for the ask game <3
hiiii lilyyyy <3 ty for the ask
4. how did your elementary school teachers describe you?
ok so it depended on which teacher u asked ig? cus my language teachers adored me (😋 academic validation yes) but my p.t. teacher LITERALLY H A T E D me like from day 1 to day last she LOATHED me i have a suspicion why but forget that but my science teachers also loved me mainly cus i was good at science then 😭
15. favorite book you read as a school assignment?
okay well we never had to read books for assignments but we had library books that were switched weekly from 5th grade right? and i wud say my fav book that i read out of those was probably 'The Twins at St. Clare's' by Enid Blyton or the Secret Seven series. i love love loveddd these ones i would literally beg around asking for who had the next book in the series so that i could exchange my current book with them next week. another series i literally loved sm was the fairy chronicles by J. H. Sweet. like, r u kidding me? just look at the names of some of the books they SOUND so good
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they are kind of spiderman-esque? like, i dont remember very clearly because i was literally 10 when i was reading these but i think it was smth like there is a secret fairy society and these girls are fairies but they can't tell their parents or any normal human but they have to save the world whenever there's smth wrong it was SOOO GOODDDD. anyway i'll stop ranting about them now 😭 (also one last thing, i loved the twins at st clare's sm that i actually googled if st clare's is a real school where i can convince my parents to let me go to BECAUSE IT SOUNDED SO AWESOMEEEE AAAA)
23. strange habits?
ok so out of the habits i do know that i have, some strange ones are:
i am one of those people who will crack(?) their bones sm it will either terrify you or piss you off. not kidding. i start with my back, the typical try to bend backwards with some kind of support halfway till your back, and then i twist my upper back all the way to the left and then to the right and it literally sounds like gunshots. (i think theres sm up with that, gonna go to the doc soon) next i crack all my knuckles etc etc etc i do it with my elbows and my knees too its sooo satisfying but it drives my dad crazy aksjks
i touch my nose a lot. this is smth i have noticed recently but i feel like whenever im having a convo with someone and dont know what to say i scratch the bridge of my nose or just touch it or smth and its SO SUSPICIOUS 😭 like i feel like the person's gonna think im hiding something or lying i promise im not suspicious im just nervous or smth 😭
i......sing. like, when you're saying smth but u realise that that sentence is a song lyric too and then why would u say it normally when u cud sing it like an i-deserve-a-grammy-person? yea. that. i do that a lot 😔 do u still think im cool
25. first song you remember hearing?
i donttttt knowww i guess it would be a lullaby or a nursery rhyme? i really dont remember any songs from my childhood 😭 like i guess i remember the theme of this one cartoon i used to watch which was called 'chhoti anandi' (its so cool i still sing it sometimes) but i think i was around 8-9 when i started watching it? pretty sure i listened to more songs at that time and before that too but ig thats one of them so 💪🏽

Of all the 'recent' boom in masala films, I think Dabangg not only took me the longest to get around to watching (and even then, I'd initially seen a bit and hadn't found it great, so I'd just kinda dropped it ... for a long while) but was also probably one of my least favorite of that genre (in no specific order, I preferred Wanted, Rowdy Rathore, R... Rajkumar, Singham, and so on; maybe I preferred Dabangg to like, Tevar or something, but that's about it). But I did finally watch it, and it did have its moments (and sorta helped really kick-start the genre again, so can't complain about that). Then I tried Dabangg 2 - and I still haven't finished it, because I got to a point that was obviously going to end with some sort of injury to Sonakshi Sinha's character that leads to a miscarriage (if you've seen enough Bollywood, you know it is coming), and I just am not in the mood for that. So that remains unfinished.
But hey, I was bored so I figured, why not - might as well turn on Dabangg 3. Apparently it continues on from the end of Dabangg 2, but I don't feel like I missed much in the story (other than that they now have a kid). There's also obviously the replacement of Vinod Khanna (RIP) by his brother as Chulbul's step-dad, but like, that's one of those "don't say anything" things in the movie, so we're just all pretending he's the same. Fair enough.
Sudeep I've now seen a couple of times - as the villain in Makkhi and here, and as the hero in Vikrant Rona and Bachchan (Kannada movie). He's pretty solid no matter what is asked of him, and while his villain here might not be as memorable as Prakash Raj in Singham or Sonu Sood in Simmba, he's still pretty good. While he's clearly the villain and should in no terms be accepted or celebrated for his actions, I do like that his villain was smart enough to realize "even if I kill the guy this girl loves, she'll never love me." Again, that doesn't excuse what he did to poor Saiee Manjrekar (small but impactful-ish role), but so many villains are just like "oh, I'll force her to marry me" as if that will suddenly make the girl love them. It won't. This villain was so close! - he realized that wouldn't happen; if he had just admitted defeat and walked away, he could've been a real person. Instead he turned full-on villain and, after somehow surviving his jeep falling off a cliff and down a deep ravine and crashing into the rocks below (how he survived goes conveniently unexplained, because I'm pretty sure the only explanation is "he's the villain and he can't be dead yet"), he returns to face his old nemesis. No, seriously - how did he survive that fall/crash, and without any sort of bodily injury either? Sure, it's been a few years, but like, that wouldn't just cause a minor scratch.
The background story with Chulbul and Khushi - it was brief (and yet, in a flashback sense, too long?) and mostly just featured a song or two and a couple of interactions, but it wasn't bad. The overlap with her and Sonakshi's character yet again gets us to the Bollywood trope of "everyone you see knows everyone else you see," but I think it sorta works out here - if you can imagine that she had never previously seen a picture of the guy her friend was supposed to marry. Which, hey - maybe.
Sohail Khan has a very brief guest appearance, which really had a moment to be pretty funny - and while they did play the 'Hello Brother' title song in the background, it was a bit of a missed opportunity. He's got some pretty damn good comedic timing of his own.
The songs aren't anything to write home about, but then, you don't go watch Dabangg 3 for the songs.
The action - it isn't bad, all-in-all. Maybe a bit overkill for the final showdown - as in most of these movies, I'm pretty sure the villain (at least, if not the hero as well) would probably be dead much before they actually end up dead in the movie. But hey, I guess people are here for the physics-defying action sequences, so you got to make it last for at least a bit.
Overall - it's not bad. Not great, sure, but not bad. Entertaining, at least.

Can Fictional Characters be protected by a Copyright?
Can Fictional Characters be protected by a Copyright?
Summary: It is not specifically protected under Copyrights but are so by judge made laws. For a character to be protected it must have a distinctive identity from the said production, that is it must have such physical and conceptual qualities and identifiable character traits which can be identified by public even though the said character would appear in another production, that is independent from its parent production e.g Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg or rather Jethalal from Tarak Mehta; where you will be able to identify the character even though it is appearing as the character in another show/movie, etc.
Also the person playing the character has no right over the copyright obviously, only the production company has the right.
My question is whether a person playing such a character be separated from such distinctive identifiable traits/qualities. Even if it can be then what would be the limit where distinctive qualities are stopped by commonality. This can depend on case to case ofcourse.

Background Story: While I was on linkedin I saw a poll asking if Hastags can be trademarked. Yes they can be e.g: '# BornOfGreatness' registered by Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. under class 35 - Marketing/Advertising.
There maybe many more but I discovered this one through a LinkedIn post by Kalpana Garg where the validity/qualifications required are also stated.
Then although not strictly trademark I wondered a charactered portrayed by a person in a serial be used for an Ad by any other company. Simply as an IP.
