My art for this years @ofmd-reverse-bang.
My Fic was done by the lovely @chryselephantinechaos.
I am so happy with everything they have created. And it was such a treat to see the little snippets as it was worked on, but it was truly a joy to read the entire finished together and truly appreciate the time and effort that put into writing.

Broom cupboard and Room of Requirement for the Hogwarts ask :3
From the Hogwarts themed ask meme.
Broom cupboard: would you ever be in a hidden relationship?
I don’t think so, no. Obviously, it would depend on the circumstances – why exactly would I want to keep this relationship hidden? But I doubt it.
I am at that point in life in which my plethora of relatives are a) getting married and b) having babies, so if I were in a relationship I would probably be shouting it from the rooftops so the auntie mafia stops looking at me with vague ‘why are you defective’ concern. Which probably wouldn’t be fair to whomever I was in a relationship with, come to think of it. (I wouldn’t inflict the auntie mafia on them or anything. The auntie mafia is terrifying.)
Room of Requirement: what would your ideal space be?
Oh, man. *Starry eyes.* An Epic Craft Room. Think biggest room in the house, with tons of natural light and also good lighting for crafting at night. And just. All of the cabinets. All of them. So I can organize my craft supplies and have some place to put them away in neatly labeled bins. And a really big table so I can set up my sewing machine and my cutting mat and not have to worry about putting them away.
Also, wifi. Wifi is non-negotiable.

Hogwarts ask: Great hall and/or Hagrid's hut
Great Hall: do you care most about music, food, art, or conversation?
I am not going to lie: food. Good food nurtures the soul just like music and art (good food is art, tbh). After a foray or two into disordered eating, I’m trying to hold really fast to food as a joy - and I’m happy I’ve mostly kept to it.
Hagrid’s hut : would you rather live in a grand castle or a quaint cottage?
This one is harder but I guess it depends. Do I get money? A grand castle. Do I just have the same situation as now? A quaint cottage. I live alone, and a castle is way too much for me - but a cottage is perfect and cozy. If I could have money, a castle would be ideal - money for visitors, or a staff, or something... because not even gonna lie I do like plush surroundings and being in the lap of luxury.

WIP Meme
Copy and paste the last sentence you wrote, then tag as many people as there are words in the line. I was tagged by @chryselephantinechaos & @old-long-john Thankyou both! <3 From my WIP fic for the @gradencetrickortreat Hallowe’en challenge (I cannot wait for Autumn to be here!):
Graves winks before motioning with his hand – and Credence bubbles with laughter as a white paper dove flies out of his sleeve like a no-maj stage magician. It lands elegantly in Credence’s lap and unfolds itself into a napkin.
I’m breaking the rules because I don’t know that many people! So, if you fancy sharing any of your wonderful words, tagging: @braganzas, @gothyringwald, @pineapplebread, @unicornmagic, @graves-expectations, @accio-toffy, @jeffgoldblumsmulletinthe90s @weepingstar

@chryselephantinechaos replied to your post:
This is skeezy but so good?? Haven't seen Black Swan, but I would read ALL of the words if this became a longer fic....
Thank you!!! I don’t think I would expand it just cause I’m a creampuff who likes happy things.
Black Swan is a great movie, but it’s really dark and skeezy af.
If I continued this, it would probably be just a whirlwind of Credence trying to make something happen with Tina even though neither of them want a romantic relationship at all while Graves harasses the both of them and Credence has erotic dreams about strangling him with his thighs.
In the end, Credence would tell Mary Lou to fuck off and quit ballet and it would be the greatest moment of his life.
At some point Tina and Credence and Queenie all do drugs in an underground techno club???
Someone’s probably gonna have to be in a car accident.
And that’s Black Swan!
Also I added a line cause this was a really quick, unedited thing and I had ANOTHER THOUGHT after I posted it already :|

Writer Tag Game
Tagged by @pinkfadespirit :D and tagging anyone who feels like jumping in.
How many works do you have on AO3?
215 fics, going to be 216 in...roughly twenty minutes from the time I post this.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
1,197,026 words.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Protector (1100 kudos, Protestant Reformation/Dishonored fusion)
a better mirror (994 kudos, Fantastic Beasts)
Everything Important in a Suitcase (844 kudos, more Fantastic Beasts)
Going Home (670 kudos, one of my only bagginshield fics)
i am stretched on your grave (660 kudos, written because Infinity War made me cry)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Absolutely, whenever I can! On some of my more popular fics (read: a better mirror), I was getting so many comments at once that keeping up was virtually impossible. I did my best, but a lot fell through the cracks. These days, writing for smaller and less popular ships, things are SO much more manageable.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
the quaking citadels of men is definitely it. I flexed my horror-writing muscles and I think I really achieved something great!
The entire cast dies at the end.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Unequivocally “a better mirror.” Everybody lives, it’s hopeful and happy all the way down, nothing bittersweet at all. Ignore the rest of the series. XD
Do you write crossovers? If so, What is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
Unfortunately, although it’s technically in the “crossovers” section, I don’t count Purely Commercial Speech because the U.S. government canonically exists in the Pacific Rim universe. (Is this a pitch? Yes, it is. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever written, please read it.)
Which means that Task Force Winchester, a Suicide Squad (2016)/Supernatural crossover, takes the spot as the craziest one I’ve written.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, I don’t think so. If I did, it’s been so long I’ve forgotten.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
On occasion. I tend to lose track of the “sexy” stuff because I like smut that focuses on something a little more realistic, with imperfect bodies, awkward moments, and occasional derailments. Also, I absolutely suck at keeping track of where people’s limbs are going, and more than once have sat there going “when the FUCK did you get a third hand???” Editing is important here XD
And yet somehow people tell me that the stuff I write is hot.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! gravity of tempered grace has a Russian translation and so does The Protector, The Thing In The Mirror has a French translation, and I’m aware that a Chinese translation of Task Force Winchester was written (with permission), but unfortunately it was never put on AO3, so I have no way to find it.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Lots of co-writing when I was a kid, before I ever discovered internet fandom. I co-wrote a fic for Fantastic Beasts (see you on the other side) with @chryselephantinechaos and writingramblr (whose tumblr I unfortunately can’t find now). I handled the SFW stuff: they did the smut.
Currently co-creating a whole AU with @apfelgranate: in a similar vein, she’s handling most of the smut and I’m sticking almost strictly to SFW stuff.
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
To be honest? Y’all, I’m still Dean/Cas trash. I dropped away from the show, but that ship grabbed me by the shoulders, shook me, and said this is what you’re sticking with. It’s good.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Never going to finish Black Magic Women, because I’ve really moved on from that, and I do regret that.
What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding, hands down. I’m at my best when I get to play with a big open sandbox and fill in gaps. How many people should really be in the Inquisition, if they’re fielding a thousand troops? What’s the actual food like in the Citadel? Did women work in police forces in the 1800s? That’s what’s fun to me, and I think it shows.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I fucking suck at brevity. Sometimes that’s good (it’s fine to write another novel), and sometimes...sometimes I JUST WANT TO WRITE A THOUSAND WORDS AND BE DONE. but no.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’m monolingual, so I generally avoid it. I’m not averse to including scattered words and phrases when appropriate (and when I know I’m getting it right), and whenever sign language comes up I do try to get that right.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I was writing for Star Wars with a friend when I was 9 or so. We co-wrote whole novels about self-insert characters having amazing adventures during the Clone Wars. Remarkably angsty, all things considered. My first mega-fic, though, was for the Maximum Ride series. In hindsight, I should absolutely polish it up and put it out for public consumption, because if I can overcome the cringe of the early parts and ditch the alarming heteronormativity...look, the ending is really good.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Why would you make me choose.
Probably, at this point, it’s Speaker for the Dead, a Wizard101 fic. While technically it’s not my best work, it’s personally meaningful, and I think...quite possibly the most moving thing I’ve ever written.
But the point is not in what the living do.
The point is in the memory of the dead.

Cross-posting comment fic, to ignore the fact that Chapter 22 of Whatever Remains, However Improbable should be Chapter 22A and 22B.
Also, I have consumed so much trashy media trying to write that damn article I may never be clean again. And I thought staring into Pinterest was like staring into the abyss. Pinterest’s got nothing on TMZ.
So, from Chapter 13, for @chryselephantinechaos who found one of my terrible nerdy easter eggs. The original thread can be found on AO3 here.
New York, April 1928
Credence couldn’t make up his mind about whether or not he liked poetry readings. He had a much better grasp on what he liked versus what he didn’t than he had a year ago, but Percival - and everyone else he knew - insisted that the best way to find out what he liked was to go out and try new things so that he could find out. The poetry readings were Queenie’s fault.
“You like reading,” she’d reasoned. “Maybe you’ll like reading poetry, too.”
Credence did. He didn’t like all of it - Shakespeare was a bit hard to understand, sometimes, and his tendency to make up words did not help matters any - but he liked the way that poetry resonated, as though the poets were Legilmens like Queenie, and had reached into his head and his heart to pluck out just the right words. Good poetry reminded him of the Bible, of metaphor and allegory and how a single sentence could leave him breathless and trembling.
Poetry readings, on the other hand, were a little awkward. Credence much preferred enjoying poetry in the privacy of his own home, where he could read through it to his heart’s content. Some things, he thought, were meant to be enjoyed privately.
“Oh, for goodness sake, you make it sound like bedsport,” Queenie said tartly. “It’s poetry, and there’s no shame in enjoying it with other poetry lovers. There’s nothing wrong with a little culture.”
“That’s what you said about the Museum of Natural History,” Credence reminded her. “We got kicked out, remember?”
“How was I to know Newt and Tina were quarreling?” Queenie huffed.
Credence just stared at her. He thought: because you’re a Legilimens very clearly and very loudly.
Queenie scowled. “There’s no need to shout,” she admonished. “And this is nothing like the Museum of Natural History. It’s just the two of us. We’re not getting kicked out of anywhere.”
Credence looked around the room. The little cafe was mostly filled with people who were of an age with him and Queenie, with a few older gentlemen as well. He did not see anyone who looked like they would argue taxonomic classifications (Newt), haul off and punch someone for insulting their fiance (Tina), or try to diffuse the situation and wind up punching someone anyway (Jacob).
Queenie’s lips curled up at the corners. “You weren’t exactly innocent,” she reminded him, because Credence had been the one to accidentally - Queenie always forgot to mention that part - make the situation worse with a series of Knockback jinxes.
“I didn’t forget,” Queenie said mildly. “It’s just funnier if I don’t mention that part.”
“Thanks,” Credence grumbled.
Queenie was the only one to emerge from the Museum of Natural History incident unscathed, seeing as she’d been the one to Obliviate the indignant curators. It hadn’t stopped them from getting kicked out, though.
Credence still felt a twinge of residual mortification just thinking about it. His husband was the Head of Magical Law Enforcement. It reflected badly on Percival to have his spouse involved in such a public spectacle.
Percival, naturally, thought the whole thing was hilarious, and had to be talked out of decorating Galahad’s room with dinosaurs. If Credence never saw another dinosaur ever again, it would still be too soon.
“I think they’re ready to start,” Queenie whispered, dragging Credence to their seats.
The portly man at the lectern cleared his throat. “Evening all,” he said, a faint hint of a midwestern drawl in his voice. “A friend of mine back in Indiana wrote this last year, and I thought it would be nice to share it with you all tonight. He called it Desiderata.”
Credence startled. He hadn’t thought of the pale blue potion that tasted like liquid starlight since Galahad was born.
“It’s from the Latin for desired things,” the man continued.
Credence shoved his thoughts behind a hastily erected mental wall. Desired things. Whoever had designed the potion that tasted like liquid starlight had a sense of humor.
Magic was like that, though. Serious and wonderful and occasionally full of terrible puns.
“Go placidly amid the noise and haste,” the man intoned, “and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.”
Credence sat up a little straighter. This, he thought fiercely. Yes, this. It was prose and poetry all in one: equal parts advice and desire for a life well-lived. It was the sort of advice that the scared boy he’d been would have treasured, kinder and more forgiving than Ma’s hellfire and damnation preaching.
It was the sort of advice the man who had Percival’s love recognized as a different sort of truth.
It was perfect, and it hurt. Credence thought that it hurt because it was perfect - the sort of thing he hadn’t known that he needed to hear, even now, free of Ma’s tyranny. He wanted to shout in exaltation and he wanted to cry.
Poetry was its own sort of magic.
“You are a child of the universe,” the man said, and it seemed like he was reading the words directly to Credence. For Credence, and the scared boy he’d been. “No less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”
Queenie gripped his hand in her own, anchoring him. Credence realized that he was trembling faintly, but he squeezed back and smiled at Queenie to let her know that he was happy, not sad.
He didn’t - he couldn’t - pay attention to any of the poems that were read after that. Credence went to the portly man after the readings were over and said, “Excuse me, sir. Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the poem you read?”
The man smiled at him genially. “Did you like it?”
“It was wonderful,” Credence said honestly. “I felt it, here,” he added, pressing a hand to his heart.
“I’ll tell my friend you said so,” the man told him. He handed Credence a neatly typewritten copy of the poem. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.”
“Thank you, sir,” Credence said, tucking the poem into his breast pocket.
“Did you really like it that much?” Queenie asked, as they walked out of the coffee house and back towards their part of New York.
Credence thought you have a right to be here and it is still a beautiful world. He wanted to carve those words into the foundation of who he was, right down into the bedrock with Percival’s love.
“Yes,” he said quietly.
And if he re-read the poem that night, trying to soothe a fussy Galahad, well, that was between him and Galahad.
The poem being read is Desiderata by Max Ehrmann. According to wikipedia, the poem was written in 1927, but wasn’t published until 1948. (So, you know. Take that with a grain of salt.) I thought I’d circumvent that issue with having a friend of Ehrmann’s read it.
If you haven’t read the poem before, you really should. This part in particular struck me as something that read very true for Credence, given his backstory:
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

"The" (kidding! Um, I'd like to guess...... shirt?)
Send me a word, if it’s in my wip document I’ll answer your ask with the sentence that it appears in
“Credence had quickly turned around at the words. A man stood at the other end of the room, dressed in a beautifully decorated silk robe, loosely tied at the waist, and a pair of just as beautiful and luxurious silk pants. He wore no shirt and Credence could see his strong chest, dusted with black hair, where the robe gaped open.”
Just one in all two WIPs! here you go, this one from the Firefly!AU

chryselephantinechaos replied to your post:
He IS??? What is he? Like, why does he do this to us??
OK I cannot authoritatively state it, but like in this photo:
his legs are a notably different tone even at the part where the light is hitting his thigh the mostest
Anyway, could just be LOW LIGHT and SMARTPHONE CAMERAS which are a terrible pair.
Also he’s just a queer weirdo who smokes a not insignificant amount of weed and I cannot even guess at his motivations for anything, but honestly find him to be sort of delightful. Hope he’s got people treating him good and making sure he’s hydrated.
