Welcome back! This is now the 5th(!!!) year of the 1D Christmas Fest, and I'm delighted it's back for another year. As before, I hope to have a fic a day from December 1st all the way up to the big day itself, so fingers crossed lots of you will want to sign up and join in.

Sign Ups: Sign ups were opened at October 28th at 12pm BST. There are only a couple of rules to follow:

You must be over 18 at the time of sign up

Your fic must include at least one member of One Direction in your main pairing

Your fic must have a festive theme!

Fics are due on December but we can offer some flexibility in that once the schedule starts to fill up. Publication dates will be assigned in order of fics received into the collection.

Just as Harry thinks everything is finally going to plan, he finds out that he is going to be losing his home just before Christmas.

Louis Tomlinson is happy enough with his lot. He's the CEO of a company he started years ago, Festive Furnishings, he has great colleagues, especially his assistant Harry, and he has the best nephew in the world. But the thing is, Louis is lonely. He has a beautiful house but it's too quiet, especially at this time of year. Not that he'd admit that to anyone.

While struggling to find somewhere warm and safe for himself and Danny to stay, Harry makes a decision that might just change the course of everything... and bring himself and Louis closer together as well...

“I’m spending Christmas alone.”

Harry would never have thought of himself as dramatic, but he could swear he felt his heart lurch at the quiet admission.

“Huh?”

“Just me, myself and I,” Louis joked, giving a little laugh. “It’s about to be a very….ah, silent night.”

And Harry was so distraught at this news, that he didn’t even chuckle at the pun.

“Louis,” he said dumbly, voice betraying how upsetting he found the idea. The sparkle in Louis’ eyes dulled further.

“Don’t you worry about me, Harry,” Louis soothed, “It’s not that big a deal-”

“-Would you like to spend Christmas with me?”

And what. the. fuck. Why did he ask that to someone who was essentially a stranger?

Or, when Harry, an anxious alpha, found himself panicking over last minute Christmas shopping, he found comfort in the kind omega shop assistant, Louis. He wasn't meant to invite the omega home for Christmas when he found out that he's spending Christmas alone. He wasn't meant to catch feelings. Hell, he wasn't even meant to be able to go home for the holiday. It was shaping up to be a Christmas full of surprises.

The curly haired man sniffles again, but the tears seemed to have stopped for now at least. “I was supposed to spend Christmas Eve with my boyfriend, that is until we got into a horrible fight.” He seems to wince at his own words. “I guess I should start getting used to calling him my ex-boyfriend. But anyways, we just couldn’t stay there any longer. Kevin and I had to get out.”

Louis blinks before looking around the empty tube car confusedly. “Kevin?”

The man nods and then squeezes a little tighter to the little potted plant clutched in his arms. “Kevin is a Christmas Cactus, but he doesn’t bloom.” He quickly adds. “Which is completely fine, because I love him just as he is.”

Louis’ not sure what most of that means. All he does know is that he needs to make sure this strange, beautiful creature is never sad again.

(Or the one where two broken people meet in an empty tube car on Christmas Eve. Can they find a way to heal each other?)

We're dealing with Christmas fluff. The really teeth-rotting kind.

I have to say, it's a fucking joy to write for the people on this server. They're all wonderful. Thank you @hellolovers13 and @babyhoneyheslt and everyone else for putting up with me, because I may have been a bit of a pain with this fic! But December was a mad dash for me, so I'm glad it got off the ground!

A PLACE TO CALL HOME

Homeless at Christmas. Louis Tomlinson is preparing for the wintry temperatures. The soup from the soup kitchen not only warms Louis' hands, but the server Harry Styles warms his heart.

‘We're equally brassic. I understand, Lou,’ he interjects. His brow arches in curiosity when Louis waves the dismissal away; hand reaching into his pocket to retrieve the five pound note.

Arthur protests kindly, eyes filling with gratitude once the note makes contact with the guitar case. ‘Louis,’ he chokes softly. 

Louis smiles. ‘You know the rules, once the note hits there's no refund policy,’ he reminds playfully, reciting Arthur's words. ‘And who better to receive than a man that can strum chords together and orchestrate his own melodies,’ he enthuses.

‘In that case, we should share, you and I,’ Arthur offers.

Louis chuckles softly. ‘Maybe one day, man. One day, yeah?’ He sighs wistfully. ‘When we hit the jackpot, make a breakthrough in the industry, fall onto better times to clean ourselves up and make positive first impressions eh?’

‘I'd say, in another lifetime, but with words like that, there leaves zero room for hope-’

‘Hope; the one thing we all need to survive in this climate alone,’ Louis finishes.
