Omg this is genius because I thought of Jean as the phantom too!!! Especially Jean and Eren singing a duet and just the thought of Eren signing 🎶“ the phaaantom of the opera is inside my miiind” 🎶 (I don’t remember if those are the real lyrics I couldn’t be bothered googling 😂)

That's close enough to the lyrics lol. And that's exactly the duet I was thinking of. Jean has to be all up in Eren's personal space throughout the musical and Eren keeps punishing him for it. Whatever is the opposite of chemisty, that's what they've got.

How does Eren react to his talent? The way I see it is that he was oblivious to it. He’d sing to himself and Mikasa and maybe Armin would listen to it, he’d only sing when alone or his best friends. Mikasa of course aways loved his voice. Then he found out that he has an incredible voice, and now he’s putting it all to his advantage. How do you see it?

and also… how does Eren finally manage it with Mikasa??

I think more than anything Eren is indifferent to his beautiful voice. Like, he knows his mom thinks he's a good singer and that Mikasa does, too, but what's the point of it? Who cares about singing? Even after the play, he doesn't really care about it because he just doesn't see singing like a baby angel as a practical skill, although now that he knows he can use it to get cast in the plays opposite Mikasa, he's for sure going to be auditioning from now on.

As far as Eren and Mikasa getting together, I think maybe we'll let him overhear some of the girls talking to Mikasa about his beautiful voice and how it gives them chills during their duet and Mikasa is like, "Yeah, it gives me butterflies every time. It almost seems like he means it, but... I know he doesn't see me like that." And then Historia, who plays Meg Giry, starts squealing and is like, "Oh my gosh, do you like him?" and Mikasa doesn't answer because she's too busy blushing and staring at her hands. Eren spends the rest of the day fixated on this conversation. He's giving Mikasa butterflies? She doesn't think he's obsessed with her? What if she knew he was? Would she like that?

He runs these questions over and over in his head, trying to figure out how to tell Mikasa, and then he realizes it's high school and he can go the roundabout way and tell Historia he likes Mikasa and trust that she'll interfere and bring them together. There would likely be shenanigans involved, but in the end Historia does her job and tells Mikasa Eren has an actual crush on her, then all the girls in the chorus start squealing and doing everything they can to get them out on a date.

The phantom holding Rhaoul SO SO CLOSE!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Audience is definitely a little bit confused! Some of them who has never seen the movie thought Phantom liked Rhaoul too!

Exactly! They're talking to friends about the phantom of the Opera years later with the school musical being their only experience with it, and they're talking about the love triangle and Christine's rivalry with the phantom for Raoul's love but how they couldn't figure out why the phantom was making her choose between him and raoul when it made more sense to be making raoul choose one of them 😂

The tension between Christine, Rhaoul and the Phantom 😂😂😂😂😂

During the confrontation at the end, when the Phantom snatches Raoul, it's very clear that he is making the most of getting to put his arms around Mikasa in the scuffle and that Christine!Eren is having to use every ounce of self restraint he has not to run across the stage and pry him off of her. The way the Phantom looks at Raoul is really hurting the vibe when he demands that Christine choose between them because it's pretty clear the Phantom would also prefer to pick Raoul. It's especially funny because Mikasa is fully committed to her role, so Jean is making eyes at her and she's acting like he's going to kill her. When Christine!Eren announces he chooses the phantom to save Raoul! Mikasa's life, he gives off the distinct impression that he's actually calling Phantom!Jean out to fight over her. Some of the audience decide to watch the movie musical later on and are very confused by how differently the character dynamics play out.

I’d like to add that Mikasa is aware of Eren’s immense vocal talents and brought him with her in the slight hope that he might get in the play, and he does. Eren’s voice completely melts Mikasa. But he has no idea the effect he has on her. They have the most intense chemistry on stage it’s insane

Mikasa gets a little giddy every time he sings, and when they sing All I Ask of You together she's swooning the whole time. And of course he's singing his part with his whole ass because he means every word. The romantic tension between them is palpable and when Raoul!Mikasa rescues him from beneath the opera house and he falls into her arms and they kiss, the audience loses it. They've been rooting for them so hard.

Okay! Mikasa as Raoul, Jean as the Phantom. Shenanigans ensue as Christine and the Phantom look to be on the verge of puking whenever they get anywhere near each other, but both make eyes at Raoul. Eren “accidentally” shoves Jean off the fake gondola once or twice… or sixteen times.

This is great because I was actually thinking of making Jean the Phantom. It's like you read my mind.

Can you imagine them singing their duets together? Christine!Eren elbows Phantom!Jean in the gut every time he stands behind him to caress his throat per the stage blocking so Jean has to start wearing protective gear beneath his suit.

I was watching this because of the ongoing meme, but it made me think (remember the Romeo & Juliet play?) that while Eren’s acting is robotic, he’s a really good singer, but scores the lead female role by accident. Remember when he screamed and Armin thought it was a girl? I think they’d be older for this, like in high school castes. And he was just auditioning to impress Mikasa (Armin or Zeke convinced him his voice was actually good) because she’s part of the drama club or something. Or idk, I’d just love your take on Eren surprising everyone by being a really good singer and the only amazing one out of the whole school and using this to impress Mikasa or maybe even get a date

I love the idea of Eren, who is an absolute terror, having such a sweet voice. I'm not actually sure he could sing that high after his voice changes, but where's the fun in that? Let's just say Eren has a vocal range that would bring the gods to their knees.

And I want to say he's not even auditioning. He went with Mikasa and is helping her warm up (and calm her nerves) by singing a duet with her and the drama teacher hears him. She knows she's going to cast him but waited for the auditions to be complete before she does it, in the interest of fairness. However, he never actually auditions. She calls a break and goes looking for him and begs him to try out. He's like, "Nah, not my thing." And she's like, "But you must! What do I need to do convince you?" And he's like, "... Are there any love scenes I could do with Mikasa Ackerman?"

Which is how Eren gets cast as Christine in the Phantom of the Opera and Mikasa gets cast as Raoul (or the phantom, I guess. I've been team Raoul ever since reading the book years ago, though). None of the other roles are gender bent. Mikasa just can't hit the high notes Eren can and if he doesn't get to fall into her arms and kiss her at the end, he walks.

And of course he insists they get together to practice lines as often as possible.
