It turns out that author Chris Fox, who has written a lot of writing advice books for genre authors, is an extremely fascist right wing nutcase.
So, you know, you don't need to follow him if you want to "Write to Market." Instead follow Becca Syme or Joanna Penn. Or anyone else, really.

Herin - Hiding In Plain Sight
Release Date: 1 Nov 2024
After an eight-year absence, Tiles guitarist and songwriter Chris Herin (pictured) is about to release his debut solo album under the name Herin. It's titled 'Hiding In Plain Sight'.
A conceptual work recounting Chris Herin’s difficult walk alongside his father’s ten-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Hiding In Plain Sight combines distinctive prog and art rock influences that alternate from sophisticated orchestral arrangements and polyrhythmic complexity to contrasting cinematic soundscapes and ambitious guitar workouts.
Renowned producer Terry Brown (Rush) produced the album and it was mastered by the Grammy award winning Peter Moore (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell). For the attentive and patient music enthusiast each listen gradually reveals the album’s cache of nuanced and subtle details.
The eleven tracks echo the fragile impermanence of life and encourage the listener to turn inward in sympathetic introspection.
Lending their exceptional talents to Hiding In Plain Sight is an impressive cast of nearly thirty musicians, including Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame members Peter Frampton and Alex Lifeson (Rush), plus Martin Barre, John O’Hara and Doane Perry (Jethro Tull), Kim Mitchell (Max Webster), Colin Edwin and Randy McStine (Porcupine Tree) and many more.
Complementing the reflective and occasionally disquieting lyrics is Hugh Syme’s whimsical and engaging imagery. The artwork captures the album’s sensibilities of time and place for a compelling and enigmatic visual counterpart.

I can only think of a few off the top of my head with queer characters, but for authors I can only think of one at the minute, and that's Esme Symes-Smith. They wrote Sir Callie and the Champions of Helston. There's two of the series out right now (I don't know the title of the second one, as I haven't read it yet) and it's a middle grade fantasy with a nonbinary main character that wants to break gender norms!
If you want ones with queer characters, there's Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, one of the major ships is gay and two characters are bi, which is a personal favorite of mine. A group of rag-tag teens break into a highly secure place; the books filled with relatable and well rounded character perspectives, just overall a great read. Some of the other Grishaverse books have queer characters too (including a trans character and an aroace character!)
Also, another favorite with queer characters is Stranger Than Fanfiction by Chris Colfer. I think it's middle grade, maybe on the verge of YA, not certain, but it's about a group of friends who go on a road trip with the actor of their favorite character, but he's not quite like what they thought he'd be. There's at least three queer main characters in that (I'm sorry if I'm wrong, it's been a little while since I've read it), one of which is gay, one is trans, and the other is pan (if I'm not reading too far into it).
Anyways, I'm reblogging cause I'm sure someone who sees my posts will have more ideas.
Hey, I need some help! I work at a library in a conservative town that doesn't want to celebrate pride...so of course we want to make a big ass display OF LGBTQ authors. I need names, tumblr. Lots and lots of names. We're a small library so we don't always have stuff, so the more names the better. Gimmie LGBTQ+ authors in all genres. ^_^ kids, adult, fiction, non fiction, graphic novels, whatever.

“I feel like, I don’t know. Like they’re my family.”
1. What Disney character would you be?
Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid)
2. Passive, aggressive, or defensive?
Passive Defensive
3. What in life are you most grateful for? My opportunity is amazing. And my family and friends.
Biography below!
Chris Symes is a trans Jewish man. He plays bass for Nosam, as one of the first trans men in a popular band ever. He’s been friends with all of Nosam for years, Mason the longest, as he pretty much reformed Mason from the high school dick jock he had been. He has a huge heart, a penchant for Serena and writing itself, and anxiety, but he’s sure as hell making it in the world.
