First of all I love your blog ❤️ my question is about Tyler Rake (hope we’ll get some news on part 3 soon). I saw on your blog that you already answered a question about Tyler and Nik and how his feelings of guilt and Nik’s loss of her brother will be a part in the next chapter. I know that we really don’t know if T and N will ever become more than friends but if the writers would try to go that way, what is your opinion about how this could happen after all? Just curious about your thoughts. Thank you
Hi, thank you! ❤️
<Come have a seat.gif>
We HAVE an update on E3. Chris said at SDCC that they're in the middle of writing the story.
I can't say if they will include his guilt over Yaz in E3, given how they completely ignored Ovi's existence and impact on Tyler in E2. I'm just saying it should be included. But Joe Russo isn't the best writer.
Which leads to my concern about E3. The weakest part of this series is the writing which threatens to bring down director Hargrave and Chris' brilliance. With Russos being busy with Citadel and now freakin Avengers, I'm hoping they hand over writing to someone else.
Now, I know Golshifteh Farahani said that she loves that Nik is not a love interest and I respect that. However, there are a few ways to go about this:
1, It could be that it was always going to be this way that Tyler and Nik will become endgame after everything they go through. They already have history where they are too close to each other:
Then they go through all these events where they save, take bullets for, and avenge the other, becoming closer than ever:
Then there is Yaz's death:
It culminates with them being the only person left in the other's life. They're each other's everything now:
This is excellent organic development that can satisfactorily lead to a seamless romantic shift without reducing Nik's character.
Or 2, they might have never intended to go the Tyler x Nik route (and all that sxual tension was meant to be nothing I guess), leading to Golshifteh saying that. But the fan reception has been so overwhelmingly positive that the makers decide to go there now. And for that, the groundwork is already laid as I just demonstrated.
I personally think they should go there because otherwise, that's just a waste of all that setup.
Now finally to answer your question, HOW: they should use Tyler's guilt of Yaz's death like I've previously talked about. And have them talk about their feelings to each other. Maybe have one stuck in mortal danger and the other going feral over it. And it reveals to them that they love the other.
@karioke13 has a fantastic scene in her mind where they go undercover at a ball party, dance together, and talk it out:

Transformers One In-Depth Review
Transformers One is a must watch.
I’m tired of seeing a bad review go towards a movie that is actually extremely well done, especially if the reviewer hadn’t taken the time to watch it or considered the trailers enough content to draw a review from.
Seriously, it was so refreshing to see a new take on a franchise that has been around for years. In my personal opinion, it’s better than re-makes that offer even less room for creativity.
I am a huge Transformers fan. I grew up with Transformers Prime, and when I was older, I watched the movies. I’ve watched other shows here and there, and while I may not be a complete expert, I know the lore well enough to have been heavily, emotionally impacted by Transformers One.
I’ll start with the "non-spoiler take" followed by the "spoiler take” which will be “hidden” for those who do not want to be spoiled.
"Non-spoiler" take...
Peter Cullen’s voice is legendary. Chris Hemsworth himself acknowledged this in an interview, mentioning that the goal was to “re-create” and “do something new.” He intended to represent a “youthful, brash, and cocky version” of Orion Pax before he was known as Optimus Prime. This is a realistic representation. In Transformers Prime, Ratchet states that Optimus Prime was more like Jack in his youth. For those of you who don’t know, Jack is a strong-willed, selfless, but slightly impulsive teenager, as all teenagers should be. It is clear that Hemsworth has evaluated “hints” that other movies and shows have provided. Hemsworth wanted to “lean into” a more serious voice towards the end of Transformers One. He insisted “he wouldn’t dare mimic Peter Cullen.” I highly respect his choices, and he does not deserve the amount of hate thrown at him. Now, Orion Pax also comes across as a humble, soft-spoken character in other movies and shows. However, I can see why they would lean into his impulsiveness to better highlight and contrast the relationship between Orion Pax and D-16, especially as D-16’s true colors show. More about that in the “spoiler” section, though!
No, it would not have made sense for Orion Pax to have a deep, majestic voice. That comes with experience; that comes with hard decisions. Quite honestly, Hemsworth is pretty close to what I had imagined Orion Pax to sound like. It’s still slightly deep, and very soothing.
The character development in this movie? Oh. My. Word. Guys, as a writer, I can say that subtle character development – the best kind – is not easy to do. In Transformers One, it flowed naturally. It made me smile. It broke my heart. If you’ve seen other Transformers movies and shows, brace yourself. If you haven’t, still brace yourself. Again, more about that in the “spoiler” section.
The humor in the trailers has been re-posted so heavily I think it’s beginning to lose its effect and people, not knowing the context, are quick to judge. Yes, Bee is funny. It’s Bee. He’s supposed to be lovable, humorous, loyal, and powerful. I found no issue with most of the humor coming from him. There is more humor that is not mentioned in the trailers that is really worth chuckling over.
Finally, the fight scenes were clean, the animation was captivating, and the incredible Brian Tyler produced musical masterpieces for most every scene, some of it connecting to other movies and shows.
"Spoiler" take, now!
I expected to dislike Elita. Really, I did. I knew she was the “love interest” for Optimus Prime beforehand and expected big things from her, because Optimus Prime never struck me as having a “love interest” in the past. Not only that, but I expected her to be the female character I seem to find everywhere these days who strives to be better than everyone else without a lick of experience, complaining about the male figures in her life.
Elita, however, is ambitious. She leads. She doesn’t have to prove anything; she’s simply willing to work hard and do her job. Understandably, she gets upset with Orion Pax and the others when they interrupt her progress, though I can’t help but be amused by Orion Pax’s shy attempt to get her attention and adored his subtle acts of kindness. Sure, she’s a tad bit aggressive – she did punch Orion Pax, after all – but I really enjoyed seeing her adapt. When Orion Pax was feeling hopeless, she was there to encourage him. If she had stopped talking immediately after saying “I’m better” I would have been frustrated. Orion Pax and D-16 are the main characters in Transformers One, after all. She didn’t stop there, though. She highlighted the most important aspects of Orion Pax; his good heart, selflessness, and bravery. She told Shockwave and the others to shut up and listen to Orion Pax when they doubted his plan. She encouraged him to speak louder when others couldn’t hear him. She leaned towards the pit when Orion Pax fell.
Not only that, but Orion Pax was incredibly patient with her. He woke her up when she was unconscious and immediately took a punch to the face like a champ. He gently, subtlety smiled at her when they traveled to the surface and Elita announced "it's beautiful." He cried out her name and pushed her out of the way to save her during a battle. He listened to her. He told her to beat Arachnid “gently” when Elita managed to detain her, proving he fully understood Elita’s personality.
I’m sorry, but this kind of relationship takes the cake. If they’re meant to be a couple, I can see the signs. I love how well they work together and build each other up.
Bee is an icon. One of my favorite scenes is him eagerly saying to Orion Pax “I’m going to go cut these guys up, watch! C’MERE!” It’s like a proud kid trying to get their parent to watch. I love how loyal he is to Orion Pax right off the bat.
While they changed some lore in Transformers One, they included everything that was important. Orion Pax and D-16 are miners, but it seems Orion Pax may have been a clerk beforehand. When he broke into the archives, he seemed to know where he was going. When he ran, I can’t remember exactly, but I believe he was muttering numbers? I don’t mind the small twists and can see how they were necessary for the story; key details are kept.
Jazz and Ratchet mention! I was so excited to hear their names. Kind of wish they had shown Ratchet, maybe shouting “I needed that!” to a fumbling worker. Sorry, Transformers Prime reference.
Arachnid had an incredible design.
Sentinel is a well-written, hate-worthy villain. I… did not expect D-16 to rip him in half, though.
Also… can I just mention how epic that particular scene was? The switch from D-16 reaching his peak character development – showing no mercy – while Orion Pax reached his – making the ultimate sacrifice to preserve life and do things the right way; receiving the Matrix of Leadership. The music, the animation, the slow-motion… everything was incredibly cinematic.
Obviously, D-16 took things too far. I appreciated the fact that he didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be evil. It took time. It took motivation. Obviously, any sane person would stand with Optimus Prime, though he does make mistakes from time to time, but it was incredibly neat to actually appreciate D-16’s insight in the beginning, then notice the shift and feel every bit of emotion Orion Pax felt.
People say the ending is rushed, or that D-16’s change came too abruptly without any good motivation. Sure, the ending may be a little rushed, but movies are typically structured this way. Falling action does not have a set speed; it just needs to be well done. Bad things happen in a rush, and this leaves ample opportunity for the “good guys” to react a little too slowly. As for D-16’s motivation… even a person can take their worship of an item or figure too far. Megatronus was someone to look up to in D-16’s eyes. He agreed to Orion Pax’s plans, or at least tolerated them, but his admiration for Megatronus was his own interest. Orion Pax threatened that vision. D-16 wanted to kill Sentinel to satisfy his own needs and desires, not to liberate others. Sentinel deserved death after committing murder, yes. He didn’t, however, deserve a public execution, especially as he tried to get away and was relatively defenseless. Remember, Sentinel told D-16 and Bee that he would execute them in front of everyone. We can acknowledge his promise as brutal, so shouldn't D-16's actions be considered brutal, too? No "reason" could ever justify it.
When D-16 let Orion Pax drop, he proved he no longer cared about loyalty. The least he could do was hoist Orion Pax’s body up or break down after losing what he once called his best friend, but he didn’t.
It’s ironic… D-16 said “I’m done saving you” when in reality, Orion Pax was trying to save D-16 from doing something he knew D-16 should have regretted doing. Normally, yes, D-16 is the voice of reason, but not in this case. For once, this is where Orion Pax’s true personality shines through. His spark – the spark of a Prime – is in the right place. Orion Pax puts joking aside when serious matters arise. It seems D-16 didn’t really know his friend after all. The actions D-16 committed, my friends, are not actions you want to celebrate.
I really, really hope Transformers One gains more attention. We need the sequel! Transformers fans, tell your friends. Give an honest review, which are of more value than the reviews given by those who didn’t take the time to watch it. Hype it up and roll out!

I don’t know if the Twisters casting director was thinking this deeply about the casting, but part of me wants to believe that the reason why Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos were cast was because of typecasting. Or, in this case, quasi-against-type casting.
Because a major part of the movie is the double twist that Tyler is actually a good guy trying to raise money for people affected by the tornadoes while Javi is actually working for a real estate mogul who wants to take advantage of tornado victims. So to sell the double-turn, casting is key here.
From what I’ve seen of the actors, Glen is pretty good at playing the jerk based on Top Gun: Maverick while Anthony has that likable persona about him that stems from his roles in Hamilton. I want to believe that the casting director thought the same way. Use the actors’ typecasting to throw off the audience’s expectations.
I’ll say this. Tyler Owens’ turn would not be anywhere near as effective if someone like Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth played him. Along the same lines, Javi’s turn would not be anywhere near as effective if someone like Tony Revolori (Flash from the MCU Spiderman movies) played him.

That Thor plotline sounds rad as hell. I was kinda disappointed in infinity war when he got his axe; I figured from the comics that it would happen sometime, but I wanted him to shoot lightning from his hands a lot longer, and I’m STILL irritated that he took off his eyepatch at all. Stealing the name but not the fiction of the chessmen is probably wise lmao
Me too. There's a reason he doesn't get Stormbreaker or a new eye in Yonder, after all. (And I went back and forth a lot on whether he ought to get Mjolnir back in Morning, but it's an alternate universe's Mjolnir and it was for plot and worldbuilding reasons, not fighting reasons since there aren't any fight scenes coming up.)
By the present day of this story -- probably actually roughly when Avengers takes place, to give Steve time to come out of the ice and get the full failed Hydra brainwashing special -- Thor's been stuck on Earth for like a year and a half (I usually have Thor set in fall 2010), depowered and pretty much resigned to now being "mortal." He's still got all the fighting skills (which we see in Thor), but doesn't think that he has his powers or his Asgardian strength/healing/etc., though has been having flashes of them starting to come back that he won't admit to anyone. Older and a little grimmer, living with his exile -- one thing that's always struck me about MCU Mjolnir (unless TLAT retconned this, I still haven't seen this) is that prior to Thor it never had a worthiness clause, and there's every chance that throughout the film Thor had no idea that it now has one. (The triskele appears briefly after he fails to lift it at the crash site, and we see Thor start to react to it, so he may be reading the enchantment there, but it's not explicitly stated anywhere in the film.) Thor may not know that he's on an intended character arc and not that he's permanently exiled.
I kind of read Chris Hemsworth's character Tyler Rake in Extraction as a Thor who never got Mjolnir back and was never able to return to Asgard, and had to learn how to live in this world as a result with the only skill he has (incredible violence), so that's more what this AU's Thor would probably be like, except perhaps a little less grim because it hasn't been as long. Plus he has Jane, Darcy, Selvig, and the rest of realSHIELD.
...I just realized that this is essentially the version of Avengers when they're all in various forms of exile. Thor literally and by name, Steve because he's out of his time, Tony because his death was faked and he's in hiding, Clint and Natasha because they're in hiding after leaving HydraSHIELD, and Bruce because, well, Bruce. (Hydra made a try for the Hulk and realSHIELD was able to whisk him off, so he's there too.)

Extraction 2 - my thoughts....
Netflix films are usually more miss than hit. I did enjoy the first Extraction movie. Not only was it fun to just see Chris Hemsworth being a stoic badass, but the action was genuinely fantastic. There was not really much in terms of story or character in the first film. We got some bare characterization for Tyler Rake's pained past, but not much else, but characterization and story was not the purpose of the movie. Extraction 2 is essentially more of the same, however, I think this film is more polished and more confidently made than Extraction, so I would grade it a step better than the first film. I also do think that the character work is a bit more interesting. Because the mission involves Tyler a bit more on a personal level than the first film, it allows the movie to dig a little bit deeper and allow for some more personal conversations. I do think it helped the film because these moments allow the audience to take a breath between the lon action sequences. The movie is essentially three big action sequences, with minor breaks in between. Because the scenes in between also have some character work, it becomes more emotionally involving. I also thought the film allowed for just a tad more humor in this film. Nothing that makes the film jokey, but the occasional dry remark which lightens the scene. Also, the film gives Tyler's team mates some badass moments and enough personality that you care for their well-being in the film. The family that is being protected also has an interesting dynamic, with a son who has a misguided sense of loyalty. The action is outstanding, although the film peaks early when it comes to the action. Of the three major action sequences, the first one is the clear standout, while the climax is arguably the weakest, though in no way a weak action scene. But compared to the initial scenes, including the 20+ simulated one take scene, it is not quite as exciting.
Its nice to see Hemsworth in a serious badass role, after seeing him being the goofball in Marvel and MIB in the recent past. He gives it all with his physicality. Golshifteh Farahani is quite badass as his friend and handler Nik, and Adam Bessa is likable and badass as her brother Yaz. Olga Kurylenko shows up briefly as Tyler's ex-wife, as does Idris Elba as an unnamed agent of sorts. Sam Hargrave knows how to make good action. Would have loved to see this on the big screen but it was enjoyable nevertheless. A 7.5/10.

Review of Extraction 2
Spoiler warning
When I saw the trailer of Extraction 2, I assumed that it would be just another mindless action movie just like it's predecessor. Make no mistake, it was exactly like the first film with little to no story and all-action approach. However, they really took the action part in the recipe to next level. The basic recipe of the sequel was pretty much the same as the first movie with the film relying merely on action to thrill the audience. But I think that approach worked really well for the movie because the action sequences in the movie are more than enough to thrill them and keep them on the edge of their seats. The film features a one-take action sequence that last 21 minutes that you simply can't take your eyes off of. That scene contains everything, from a prison break-in to a hand to hand combat, a car chase and another action sequence on a train. The film topped it's predecessor, which featured a one-take action scene that lasted 12 minutes. The diversity of the action sequences in the single shot of the sequel is something that's incredibly hard to stop talking about. Chris Hemsworth nails the role of Tyler Rake again. Golshifteh Farahani was given a more action oriented role and she didn't disappoint. Tornike Gogrichiani makes a good antagonist. Th previous film jumped right into the action from it's very beginning. But Extraction 2 took it's time to introduce the characters and provide some background on them. The first 15 minutes or so also focused on Tyler Rake's recovery process and showed how he recovered and prepared himself for his next mission. I still firmly believe that the film could have benefited from a deeper plot better story. If only Sam Hargrave had incorporated that, the film, in my opinion would have been flawless. The climax was a bit underwhelming, though. Ideally, the film should have ended with the scene on the skyscraper. That would have made a fitting climax to a film that is this high on action. To conclude, for people who love films that prioritizes action over plot, this film, with it's epic action pieces, is a master piece. It definitely tops the previous film.

A Review of “Extraction 2 (2023)”
I loved Chris Hemsworth in Extraction (2020). Getting to see him outside of Marvel in a fun action movie, was enjoyable. However, it was a very flawed movie that felt lacking compared to something like 'John Wick'. Still, I saw potential in a sequel so I was not surprised when Extraction 2 was announced. Does this improve on its predecessor or continue to have the same problems?
Let's start with why people are watching this: the action. The action scenes are still a blast to watch! The violent and brutal fist fights with the swift gunplay are all incredibly well choreographed. The sequel also tops the first movie's one-shot action sequence by being 21 minutes. It isn't just longer though, it is well-connected and more awesome as well. The prison sequence is phenomenal with how tense it is and how our main character punches his way out. Chris Hemsworth continues to be charismatic and charming as our main character: Tyler Rake. Chris does a lot of his own stunts and it clearly shows in the excellent action scenes. He also gets to do more emotional moments as well making his character a little more interesting. Golshifteh Farahani returns as Nik, a mercenary ally of Tyler, and she gets a lot more to do this time. She has her fight scenes that are great to watch as well.
One element that is improved is Tyler Rake having more characterization. We barely knew or cared about him in the first movie but this time we get to know more about him through his past and interactions with others. It also helps that this mission feels more meaningful to his character as he is having to "Extract" someone more connected to him. His friendship with Nik is also explored a bit more. It feels like there is more of a stake this time which makes me care more about what is going on in the story. The villain is also more threatening this time with him physically hunting down our characters and actually fighting our main character.
However, this movie doesn't improve upon everything. The plot is still predictable and bare bone as the first movie was. Nothing interesting occurs whatsoever in the plot; it hits all the cliché beats you would expect. There is also some shaky cam in some of the sequences which is a little distracting when it mostly maintains a clean stable shot during the action. Some of the action scenes can feel a bit questionable as well. For example, the main character stands completely still but the enemy misses or the main character not taking proper cover while being shot at. There is also a fair amount of bad CGI such as the helicopters which is very noticeable. One thing Chris got to do in Extraction 1 was punch a kid. Unfortunately, he does not do that in the second film but there is definitely a kid that deserved a punch from him.
Overall, this is a big improvement. I enjoyed this sequel a lot and if the next entry continues to improve even further, then I am 100% watching the 3rd one. Hopefully, he gets to punch a kid again though.

The Bachelorette. Season 15. 7.6/10
I would recommend this season to my friends. I wouldn't rewatch this season.
Hannah Brown seems like a lovely girl. I never really saw it in current seasons with her as a guest, but so apparent here. She's a great bachelorette. I respect her so much for being adamant about letting Luke go. Like, I know guys who try to hold onto every little string and they also create strings, but she was so cool for standing her ground. Hannah's honesty and bluntness and straightforwardness and truth is on a great level. I have much to learn from the girl. Her moving the podium is legend. Jed's nice (before we all learned). I liked Jed's one-on-one with Hannah. I felt like he was such a good presence for her that day. I love Hannah just yelling at these men. Peter taking Hannah on a flight is crazy cool. John Paul Jones is fav.
Damn Hannah B. not dealing with Scott's BS is respect. Also so funny when they're like "he's right next to the van" as he's leaving lmaooo. Lmao at the guys all finally seeing Hannah turn against Luke and they're like oh we can finally speak our truth,, Luke leave!
This persona of the box king reminding me of Peter Izzo's Pizza King. Cam saying ABC: always be cam is just lol. Jed looking like Liam Hemsworth when he's talking about his ex.
Omg Jason Biggs. Not Peter's parents at the finale loving all the raunchy history talk. omfg at Demi Lovato sitting with Deminotlovato.
Luke P. really is getting outta control at times. He like speaks his truth but his truth isn't that good imo. It's like he can't see his actions and words. Chris Harrison is not being helpful, imo. Why does it feel like he's on team boys? I just do not like Garrett's attitude towards Luke. I know Luke sucks, but you're not a model citizen yourself.
Okay, but why did we throw Hannah's bra into the river during bungee jumping? I just don't see why she picked Jed over Tyler. Not choosing Tyler is crazy. I'd rather her having broken off an engagement because of Tyler rather than Jed. Jed, this is not a good look. You're trash.
I remember everyone wanting Mike to be bachelor, and I agree.
Memorable Quotes: "Heyo is my mating call."

Chris Hemsworth really did an amazing job in extraction 1 and 2
He is excellent! He was great in E1 but he was even better in E2. I feel like he understands Tyler more and better now so he lends depth to him in subtle nuances.
You know, Jude Law's mentor, director Anthony Minghella had advised him that he should not get typecast as the lead/good guy protagonist because his biggest hurdles as an actor are going to be his good looks.
That issue is x10 for Chris. With his looks and physique, he can't just play a grocery store clerk or a divorced teacher. It needs to be a role that's athletic in some way. Not to mention his charismatic presence ensures that he more or less plays the lead or at least a role that the makers can cash in on. (I legit thought Thor3 was his first above-the-title billing, turns out he's been getting it since Rush! He's been the draw for audiences since then. It's why he's cast as Optimus Prime.)
So, with a scope that's that horribly limited, it's genuinely commendable how much he's been able to do when it comes to his characters. He could have cashed in being typecast in the hero role but he sincerely tries to do something different each time.
Tyler is a great complex character I just can't get enough of. His villains (Bad Times at the El Royale & Spiderhead) are so deliciously unpredictable and downright entertaining (next year's Furiosa will be great!). I've always said him trying to do something new with Thor each time is a good idea in itself. Only that extreme comedy was not the way to go about it. Even the cameo in his wife's film was super cute.
He was great as Fat Thor - the issue was the writing surrounding him, not him. With Thor4, he bulked up more than he ever has to add some variety. That said, I'm not looking forward to the Hulk Hogan biopic because he himself said Thor4 broke him and he's dreading the biopic.

Website Stuff!
Before I get into the website stuff I wanted to correct what I said yesterday about Chris Hemsworth not deserving his Hollywood star on the walk of fame - my apologies, I didn't mean it that way. He is a star! He is enormously amazing as Thor, super cool superhero as Tyler Rake in Extraction (I'm watching it right now...just kidding, I don't have time for that but maybe I can squeeze the latest one into my weekend to talk about during my week ahead audio on Monday...hmm...this is good! LOL!) And he plays other characters in other movies worth noting so he does deserve his star. I meant I know his destiny is far greater with God than with Marvel (no offense) because he can be a hero in real life too. He has that heart but he hides it and I hope one day he shows it off to the world and to the youth because he has that potential and all of that will make him a bigger star than Hollywood ever could! That's all I meant.......(you can still apologize Mr. Hemsworth ;)
Anyway, moving on......

temporarily. I am playing around with the domain name again to see how I want it to look. I am not sure if I will spell out the full name of the company or leave it as is so for now while I am making that decision to see what is best for the organization it will remain with the wix name. I also decided to let go of the issue I was having with a certain celebrity and other people he is involved with concerning the attempted theft of my business and hacking of my website. I have youth and young adults to serve and they can’t find me online if the website is down and I don’t post on social media except for Pinterest which has pretty much everything I am doing on several boards. I choose forgiveness and I let God deal with this battle because it’s unbelievable and mind blowing that this has happened to me and has been going on for over 3 years. I am really tired of it and it has to end. If you haven’t been able to steal from me by now I say give it a rest and let it go. And don’t forget if you steal from me you are stealing from the youth and from their future success in the world.
So think about that the next time you want to take what I have built with my mind, heart, spirit and own two hands. You have your own brains so do your own thing and if you truly care about and love the youth generation stealing from another youth advocate will never cross your mind nor be in your heart to do such a thing. They are not stupid and they have major issues with adults so if you put yourself out there like that you will have a very difficult time getting youth to trust you and you will fail. They are a challenge but in a beautiful way and if you are not up to that challenge and getting close to them by meeting them where they are then you will never connect with youth at all. So be careful, I am watching and my team of lawyers are watching and my law enforcement friends and connections are watching too. If I do find out anyone is doing what they have been trying to do before (or using my name to obtain “jobs” I will prosecute). You are not above the law and your cyber crimes are federal crimes which means they are federal offenses that will send you to a federal institution (Prison). So do the right thing and let go of your egos and jealousy. It’s ridiculous. Give youth a reason to trust adults because many of you are not trustworthy.
Website changes in next post.......

Extraction 2 Ending Explained: Netflix’s First Action Franchise?
Netflix original movies are kind of hit-and-miss, both with audiences and critics. But with the Extraction 2 ending, the streamer may have its first-ever action franchise. The larger-than-life, heart-pounding action movie that was Extraction just got bigger and bolder with Extraction 2. And while both movies are pretty simple in terms of story, the massively innovative action sequences are just breathtaking and supremely exciting. And it seems like Netflix may potentially have a franchise on their hands, especially after that Extraction 2 ending. Please note that the following will feature spoilers for Extraction 2, including its ending. Netflix Has Tried Many Action Movies Before Extraction 2 Being the original streamer, Netflix has tried their hand at many action movies with big names, in hopes of launching their own action movie franchise. But sadly, none have taken off or even resonated with audiences beyond the opening weekend. Netflix’s original series is a laundry list of hugely hit shows like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, Black Mirror, The Witcher, The Crown, and countless others. But when it comes to movies, it’s a different matter entirely. Not all movies though. Netflix has found a lot of success with family-friendly, or romantic comedies like To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Kissing Booth, The Princess Switch, The Christmas Chronicles and many more. But that high-profile action franchise with big stars has always seemingly been out of reach. Netflix’s Long List Of Failed Action Movies As we’re currently seeing the streaming wars winding down, a large part of it was due to how Netflix just threw money at its original movies with big stars, in hopes of a franchise. And they’ve done this too many times to count. The first of their action franchise dreams was Bright, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. The movie promised a sprawling new world that blended fantasy and an alternate Earth with magic and fairies and ogres. But it’s been 6 years and we’re still waiting on that sequel. Other recent attempts were the expensive but cheap-looking The Gray Man with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, and the massively disappointing Red Notice with The Rock, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. But it’s been happening for years with Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds’ 6 Underground, Project Power with Jamie Foxx, the star-studded Triple Frontier, Spenser Confidential with Mark Wahlberg, and so on. Many attempts with many big-name action stars, and many critically panned movies. But maybe the Extraction 2 ending changes all of that. How The Extraction 2 Ending Sets Up A Franchise Extraction 2 begins with a resurrected Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) in bad shape after the events from the last movie. Beaten and battered, he is set to retire, until a visit from a mysterious man. The man is Idris Elba as a suave but unknown character there to offer Tyler a mission to save his former sister-in-law. The casting of Elba actually reunited Elba and Hemsworth since their time together in the Thor franchise as Heimdall and Thor respectively. The man doesn’t give any answers as to who sent him or what he does, at least not until the end. After the events of the sequel, the Extraction 2 ending sees Tyler and his friend captured in a prison, only to be rescued by Elba’s character. Upon their release, Elba offers Tyler a job working for his mysterious boss. The movie ends on a hopeful and adventurous note implying that Rake joins Elba’s character and takes him up on his offer. It’s the perfect setup for a sequel. Does The Ending Guarantee A Sequel? Currently, Extraction 2 is sitting at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience rating of 89%, which is both considerably higher than its predecessor in 2020. So if the reception of the first resulted in a sequel, then this almost entirely guarantees a third film in the Extraction franchise. Especially given that Extraction 2 ending, which was clearly made by director Sam Hargrave with a sequel in mind. Hargrave’s immersive action choreography and directing style really makes Extraction 2 stand out, despite a flimsy story and some middling performances. The action sequences, cinematography and its larger than life vibe really make it stand out amongst other action movies. It’s almost a more brutal and blunter John Wick franchise. And it definitely feels like Netflix may have its first action franchise. Extraction 2 is now streaming on Netflix. What do you think the chances are for a sequel after that Extraction 2 ending? Fandom: Extraction
Fic title: Lost and Found
Pairing. Esme Drummond and Tyler Rake
Face claims: Rachel Bilson and Chris Hemsworth (obviously. He is the perfect Tyler, am I right?)
Tagging: @tragiclyhip @secretaryunpaid @youflickedtooharddamnit @munstysmind @themaradwrites @residentdormouse @thebejeweledwatercat @asirensrage @theesirenteller @alisbackalleybbq @kmc1989 @karimac @ninjasawakenedmystar @mrsmungus
“How could you do that to me? Leave like that? After everything we’d been through. After nine months in that fucking hospital. Three quarters of a year, you stayed there. You fought for me. You were the only one who didn’t give up. And then you go and do something like THAT? Just leave?”
“I wanted to protect you. You’d already been through so much. You shouldn’t even have been alive. But you WERE. And I didn’t want it on my conscience; losing you because of something I did.”
“You didn’t do anything. You thought you were in the free and clear. You were told that you were. Long before you met me. It wasn’t your fault; that The High Table went against their own ruling and came for you. You know that, yeah?”
“I think I do. I think I know that.”
“Why didn’t you just give me a chance? To get you out of that fucking mess? I would have done anything to protect you. If that meant packing up and moving thousands of miles away and hiding out? I would have done it. And if they found us, we would have packed up and found somewhere else to hide. Other people could have dealt with it. The bullshit here.”
“I didn’t even think of that at the time. I was more worried that you’d try and go against them. Physically.”
“Esme, I knew my limits. I was clinically dead a year before. Do you really think I thought I stood a chance against The High Table? Alone? I know I’m not the smartest guy on the planet, but give me SOME credit.”
“You always said you’d do anything for me. To keep me safe. Why wouldn’t I think that?”
“If you had told me what happened…with The Adjudicator…we could have talked about all of this. Avoided you taking off. But you didn’t even give me a chance.”
“I just wanted to protect you.”
“And I love you for that. For thinking you had to. But you didn’t just ruin my life when you left. You ruined yours, too. That’s not protecting me. You should have known that’s the last thing I would want. Hurting yourself like that.”
