Warnings: violence, guns, gore, grief, guilt, alcoholism, brief suicidal thoughts, experimentation (body horror?), death

Synopsis: after the reappearance of the living dead, Chris redfield is tasked with bringing the one, Glenn Arius, behind this into their grave with the help of an unwilling Leon Kennedy and a victim of Glenn Arius' experiments.

It was a feeling that Leon had become all too used to over the years. Still, after everything, the small pang that would sit in his chest still broke through. He was a broken man responsible for fighting monsters and the bastards that made them.

The scene of bodies upon bodies, stored away until they'd join their place 6 feet in the soil with nothing but a carved stone in place of their memory. It was eerie, harrowing even. But not for Leon, who'd looked death in it's eyes time and time again.

Footsteps echoed around the morgue as he strode down, eyeing each of his fallen squadmates. Each footstep rung in his ears, reminded him of how his fate turned into this. One footstep for the horrors of that fateful night in raccoon city, where the young, bright eyed police officer died. Buried in the ruins of the city, leaving the cold, harsh shell of him that was left.

Another for the treacherous task of saving the presidents daughter, nearly costing both their lives from a bullshit cult that had the idea that a parasite was the way forward, to unlimited, unadulterated power.

The bomb that'd been dropped wiped his team out.

Of course, only he survived. Left to deal with the guilt, feeling as he was to blame for their deaths. For failing them. For failing the innocent lives that were lost. The weight of being a government pawn weight heavy on his shoulders, waiting to crush him when given the chance. Always keeping him on his toes.

He comes to a halt, gazing at one of the bagged bodies. The zip of it opened slightly. He stared at it, contemplating everything, his life, how he ended up wrapped in the governments messes.

A disgusted scowl graced his features when the sack came to life, a living dead trying to claw it's way through. Snarling and unkind, violent and animalistic. Its noises echoed and reverbed up the dimly lit setting

Something he'd seen time and time again, engraved into his memory ever since the day that sealed his fate. 30th of September 1998, the day the cop inside of him died.

by instinct, the handgun is in his grasp within seconds. The metallic clink of bullets hit the ground as they fly, shot after shot. Each bullet piercing the bag of undead flesh with an audible noise

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Until, the creature sunk down with a screeching, ear drum popping scream. The sound of it hitting the stretcher it was on echoed. The grimace on Leon's face was still present, set to become permanent as his gaze still zeroed on the bag of now, surely dead, flesh through the dark, brunette locks across his face. Handgun still clutched in his hands.

when I was a kid, I used to think about the kind of man I'd grow up to be.

I never thought my life would turn out this way.
