THE AUDITION TAPE !
chloe kwon’s audition tape for @seraphsurvival !
Chloe took a breath, steadying her ever growing nerves as she nodded to the woman behind the camera. She had only been to a few auditions before in her life, and she never got used to the feeling of them. Her manager, Yerim, waved her hand lightly, catching the younger’s attention, giving her a small thumb’s up with her signature bright smile. It calmed her ever so slightly, though she could still feel herself absentmindedly tapping on the side of her old, beat-up guitar.
“Hello, lovelys!” she smiled lightly, her soft and sweet voice carrying over the silence that had fallen over the room as soon as the woman behind the camera had signaled for the camera to start rolling. “I’m JYP’s sweet-voiced soloist, Chloe Kwon, and today I have a small cover of BLACKPINK’S ‘Hope Not’ to show you all!”
She smiled brightly before bowing her head down to look at her guitar. Looking down at her familiar old guitar, the one that had been with her through all of her biggest auditions, washed away any nerves she had still rolling through her body. Chloe’s fingers moved on their own accord, playing the notes she had been practicing for weeks with sleepless nights, hoping she could perfect it in time. Her light voice followed suit, Chloe feeling more and more confident the more she stayed in her element, pouring all her emotion into the song.
Chloe looked back up at the camera, her bright smile coming back onto her face as she played the last few chords of the song. She felt a small laugh bubble up in her throat, letting it fall past her lips as she thought of what to say next.
“How did I do?” she asked in a lilted voice, resting her chin on her hands. “Good?” she questioned and paused like she was waiting for an answer, turning her head so her ear was facing the camera. “Well, I guess the only way you can show me that is if you give me your vote!”
She laughed once more, a light and airy sound. “Thank you for your time, lovelys! I hope we can meet again soon!” she blew a small kiss to the camera before waving her hands to say goodbye.

HOPES !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe gets her hopes up. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon, Kim Sunwoo, Han Jisung WORDS :: 2.2K WARNINGS :: drinking, drunk characters, anxiety, implied sexual content ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
Chloe knew she was hopeless romantic and maybe just a bit too optimistic, but she couldn’t help the fact that she wanted to see the best in everything and everyone. It had gotten her into trouble in the past, the whole situation with her father making her just a bit wary of anyone for a while, but she couldn’t help the way that she trusted far too easily. She was always the one to fall too fast and too hard in her relationships and she just found it better to steer clear from them most of the time, it got her in far less trouble. That was until she met Sunwoo.
Chloe and Sunwoo had known each other by proxy for a little over a year before they actually became close to one another, Kevin and Felix being big reasons for that. They had seen each other at quite a few hang outs between fellow 2000-liners and had even greeted each other backstage when Chloe would sneak back into music shows to watch any of her friends performing. They were never close, but fate had seemed to keep them at arm's length from each other.
It wasn’t until Kevin invited Chloe over for a ‘friendly gathering’ as he called it, though that was really just an excuse for them to throw a rager celebrating their first win. Chloe wasn’t one to refuse a party, and she definitely wouldn’t say no when most of her friends were already invited anyway.
The party wasn’t anything special, just a normal house party that Chloe had really only seen on TV before her hiatus, though she definitely wasn’t going to be giving up the chance at free booze, especially in a place she knew there would be no prying cameras around for once. The party lasted for what felt like hours and Chloe knew she was going to wake up with a massive hangover the next day and she didn’t realize the need to call it quits until she watched Chan try ITZY’s debut choreography, while being absolutely plastered. On any normal night, Chloe would have stayed and laughed with the rest of the crowd, but she could feel herself being sentimental and she knew she needed to get out. She put on the best fake smile she could manage (something that she had gotten incredibly good as since her hiatus had started) and pushed her way through the crowd, feeling a pair of eyes on her as she walked away, though she refused to look back to see who’s prying eyes they were.
She wandered around the dorm, hoping to find one of the bathrooms, which was always much easier to find in a sober state and while she was trying to keep her mind off of the many thoughts whirling in her mind. Chloe couldn’t stop herself from wondering about the what-ifs all the time, what if she hadn’t been a solo artist and she had actually debuted in a group like she had originally planned? She misses the bond that she shared with her close friends when they were trainees, the late night talks of them wondering if they would be able to stand on that stage together one day. Chloe wasn’t dumb, she knew there was no chance she would debut in TWICE when she was part of Sixteen, but she thought the promotions were about the group that would be formed after, not for her solo debut. Part of her always wondered if she had just been the one that they saved and kept for ITZY if she would be in the situation she was in now. Would her father still have tried to reach out? Maybe it would have happened, but it wouldn't have been when she was so young and impressionable where it left a mark on her that she can’t seem to shake, a mark that makes her scared of even stepping on stage again.
Chloe wasn’t sure how long she had been standing in the hallway, how long she had been lost in her own thoughts, when a hand came out and rested on her shoulder, making her jump slightly. She whipped her head around to see a concerned looking Sunwoo staring back at her. He said nothing, instead just pulled her into one of the rooms in the dorm, effectively cutting off a lot of the sound coming from outside, letting Chloe’s head finally clear just a bit.
“Are you okay?” he questioned lightly, keeping a good bit of distance between the two of them. Even from Chloe’s intoxicated state, she could tell that the boy was nowhere near sober with the way he was swaying slightly as he watched her. “Jisung saw you leave and he seemed worried.”
“I’m fine,” Chloe smiled. “The music just got a bit too much for me for a second there.”
Sunwoo nodded, but Chloe could tell that he wasn’t convinced, not in the slightest. “Do you want to talk about it?” he leaned forward slightly and smiled a bright, drunk smile. “I hear talking things out with an unbiased third party is a pretty good option.”
Chloe looked at him for a long, hard minute, trying to figure out if the boy was serious or not. She rolled her eyes and thought fuck it, the boy was probably drunk enough where he wouldn’t rememebr it in the morning anyway, and started spilling. She told him about everything involving her father and how she was so scared to step on stage again, maybe it was because she was out of practice, or maybe it’s because the last time she stepped on stage was what led her father to her, but she can never be too sure. She talked and talked about things that she was even too scared to tell her own mother or any of her closest friends and Chloe found out that for a drunk guy, Sunwoo was surprisingly good at listening. She also found out that it was nice to finally let it all out.
Sunwoo let her talk, only interjecting whenever he felt fit and even started to talk about his own problems and Chloe sat there and listened intently, happy to listen and even help if that’s what he wanted. Though Chloe found out quite quickly that Sunwoo liked to rant, let out his feelings without the thought of actually having to fix them.
The two stayed in the small cramped room, and honestly, Chloe wasn’t sure who’s room it was at this point, talking for hours. Somewhere along the way they dropped the rants and it turned into just funny stories about their childhood. Chloe was in the middle of the one time her mom had tried to bake a cake for her birthday, almost setting their small apartment on fire in the process, when Chan burst through the door, a concerned look on his face.
“Chloe! There you are!” he sighed, a bright smile that would have made fifteen year old Chloe swoon, adoring his face. “We’re about to head out, you wanna walk about with us?”
Chloe looked back at Sunwoo once more, seeing the boy look about ready to fall asleep sitting up, before turning back to Chan and getting up to her feet. “I guess so, Yerim would kill me if I stayed out too much longer.”
Chan nodded lightly, knowing the wrath of Chloe’s manager first hand when she stayed out at the studio far too late trying to keep Chan company as he stressed over songs for one of their comebacks. After that night, Chan was quick to pull the plug on things before it got too late.
“Bye Sunwoo,” she waved back at the other boy, smiling brightly. “See you later.”
Sunwoo nodded and pulled himself up to a bed that Chloe could only assume was his own as the other two made their way out the door. Chloe couldn’t stop the bright smile on her face and the small bit of butterflies in her stomach as she made her way back to her dorm, ignoring the strange glances from some of the other boys she was walking with.
Chloe’s not sure when their relationship went from casual talks and letting off steam by ranting about their lives, to whatever they have now, but she’s not sure she’s complaining about it. Chloe knows what happened to turn them into this, getting a little bit too drunk one night, while talking about how hard it was to meet anyone as an idol (Chloe’s dating ban had just lifted and she was a bit frustrated), led to the slightly younger boy leaning in and placing his lips against hers. Chloe knew how it happened, but she’s not sure when it went from just friends to something more, when it went from one kiss to much, much more than that. All Chloe knew is that she was in far too deep and she wanted far more in this relationship than what she could only assume Sunwoo did.
There were times that Chloe was sure Sunwoo wanted the same thing as her. The late night chats, where Sunwoo would look at her like she was the only girl in the world. The sweet words he would whisper to her when they would fall into bed together. The times that he would initiate the two of them hanging out with each other. Those times everything felt so, so real and Chloe could feel her hopes rising with each smile from the slightly younger boy.
Chloe felt her hopes soar when Sunwoo offered to come and watch her comeback stage, saying he wanted to come and support two of his friends. Chloe never really asked her friends to come and support her stages, only a handful of them coming to visit in the years she had been in the industry, so to say that Chloe was excited to see Sunwoo sitting in the waiting room with her and Jisung, would be an understatement.
“Chloe we have to head down,” Jisung’s voice rang through the room, causing Chloe’s eyes to finally move away from where they were trained on Sunwoo’s position as he played some game on his phone. Jisung had been uncharacteristically quiet today, rather than any of the days they had been recording and practicing for this comeback, Chloe just figured that he was nervous for recording without the rest of Stray Kids.
The older girl nodded, standing from her position, smoothing down the front of her dress as she made her way across the room.
“Good luck!” Sunwoo yelled out, smiling brightly, only causing the older to smile back at him as she made her way out the door.
The two walked quietly, all of Chloe’s backup dancers going up ahead of the two since they needed some final touch ups done on their makeup. “You nervous?” Chloe spoke up in the almost awkward silence that never seemed to fall over them before.
“Huh?”
“You just seem kind of out of it today, I thought you might be nervous,” Chloe shrugged.
“I mean I guess, don’t you get nervous before you perform?” he questioned, hitting his microphone against his hand.
“Not really,” she answered with a small shrug. “Only like big performances, I guess.”
“Shouldn’t every performance be a big performance?” Jisung questioned, tilting his head slightly. The thought made Chloe stop in her tracks, thinking it over just a bit longer. Jisung noticed her stop walking and turned to shoot her a questioning look.
“I guess so,” she smiled back at him, walking forward and grabbing his arm and pulling him down the hallway so they wouldn’t be late.
Coming down from the high she got from being on stage always took a few minutes. The performance had gone well, fantastic even, and it always was a rush to have a near perfect performance. Chloe had wasted no time pulling Jisung into a tight hug after the performance and Chloe wasn’t even sure if the camera had finished rolling or not (it hadn’t).
They walked back to the waiting room all smiles and Chloe couldn't wait to see what Sunwoo had thought of the performance. Everyone was loud and excited, the feeling of a perfect start to the era lifting everyone’s mood.
The smile didn’t fall off of Chloe’s face until she saw Sunwoo exiting one of the many bathrooms in the building, a familiar head of deep green hair following suit. She could feel her heart fall into her stomach as she watched the two walk away from each other, not paying the large group of people just down the hallway from them, Sunwoo slipping out of sight and into Chloe’s waiting room.
Chloe felt a hand on her shoulder, rubbing it soothingly in an almost conforming manner, though she couldn’t find it in herself to be soothed by it. She could feel her heart breaking, cursing herself for getting her hopes up when she knew nothing was going to happen between them.

SOMETHING MISSING !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe gets some help for her next comeback. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon, Bang Chan WORDS :: 1.6K WARNINGS :: swearing ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
Chloe was excited. She practically felt herself jumping out of her boots at the thought of finalizing some of the stuff for her next album. She had only been done with promoting for a day, but she already wanted to get to work on her next album, finalizing the tracks. Yerim had told her to take a break, but she couldn’t stop her mind from wanting to get back on stage and perform again. Besides, sitting at home with nobody there had already driven her crazy during the beginning of last year and she wasn;t sure how much more she could take.
She practically skipped down the hallway, not even bothering to knock on the door that she landed in front of, pushing it open hastily before walking in. “Sup fucker,” she said loudly into the silence, only to hear a slight groan from the person occupying the room.
“You know, when I said that I’d listen to your song I didn’t expect you to make a ruckus coming in.”
“Aww, Channie, that’s cute, but you’ve known me for how long?”
Chan looked away, saving whatever he was working on at the moment, mumbling something along the lines of ‘far too long’, while shaking his head. Chloe gasped, far too loud and obnoxious for it to be real, before hitting the older boy on the shoulder lightly with a laugh.
“Whatcha working on?” her voice was bright and chipper, probably much more excited than Chan had seen her in awhile, at least judging by the look of shock that adorned his face for a moment as he stared back at her.
“A song, what else would I be working on,” he shrugged, still giving her a strange look. Just as Chloe thought, the older man would never let her listen to early drafts of his songs, worried that she would get some sort of sneak peak before it was actually released. No matter how hard Chloe had tried in the past, he would never let them budge. “What makes you in such a good mood?”
“Do I need to have a reason to be happy?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow at the older.
“No, you just normally have one,” he shrugged, eyes going back to the screen, closing out of his project that he was working on. “Does this have anything to do with Sunwoo by any chance?”
Chloe's eyes shot to Chan’s face, watching as a knowing smirk started to from on his lips. “Did Yeji tell you about Sunwoo?” her voice was loud and demanding, wondering if her friend sold her out like that. “I swear to god if Yeji let it slide-”
“It was Jisu, actually,” he cut her off, his voice sounding far too happy for how Chloe was currently feeling at this very moment.
“I’m gonna kill her,”
“Aw, come on,” Chan nudged her shoulder, giving her a big smile, the one that made it hard for her to stay mad at. “I would have found out anyway, this way was just way easier for me.”
Chloe rolled her eyes, pulling the chair from the other side of the room to sit down next to the older as she fumbled through her bag to find her laptop. She let out a small sigh, as she opened it, determined to stop the conversion from going any farther, hoping that Chan would just let it slide just this once, but the look on his face when she looked back up told her the conversation was far from over.
“What?” she questioned, glaring at the older just a bit, hoping he would get the hint that she didn’t want to talk about it with him.
“Are you going to tell me what about Sunwoo has you all giddy?”
Of course he wouldn’t get the hint. “I’m not talking about this with you, it’s like telling my brother about the boy I’m talking to!”
“You don’t have a brother.”
“Well it’s what I imagine a brother would be like,” she told him, with a shrug. “Besides you, Kevin, and Minho are the closest things that I’ll have to a brother, so I’m going to treat you like it.”
Chan rolled his eyes, but Chloe knew it wasn’t malicious, not with the large smile on his face as he turned back to the computer. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” he started, aimlessly scrolling through the files on his computer. “But, I would like to know what he did to make you this happy, it’s just nice to see, I guess.”
Chloe let out a sigh, looking up from her computer that she had just unlocked, seeing Chan look far more serious than she expected. She hadn’t really thought that she had been acting differently, but Chloe knew that Chan was worried for her, he had been for the last couple of years (even on the good stretches of time), ever since her talk with her dad. She felt bad for it, he shouldn’t have to worry about her, not when he had far more pressing things to worry about, but that just seemed to be the type of guy Chan was.
“He asked me to hang out with him,” she said after a moment, Chan looking over at her skeptically. “But, like different than normal, he wants to go for a walk and just hang out, no drinking, no ranting.”
He paused for a moment, looking like he wanted to say something, but thought better of it. “I’m happy for you,” he replied after a few seconds and while Chloe could tell that there was something off in his voice, she didn’t say anything, just nodding with a smile as she looked back at her computer.
“This isn’t even what I came here for,” she broke the small silence, looking down at the time on her computer. “And now I only have a little bit of time before I have to meet Yeji, thanks to you.” she glared lightly over at the older man, who put his hands up in mock surrender.
“So, this is my fault now?”
“Yes, since you were so invested in my almost nonexistent love life,” Chloe shot back playfully, pulling up the file on her computer, making sure to pause it before it played loudly throughout the room. “But, since I now have your attention, I need you to look at this song cause it’s the last one I need to finish,” she looked back at the boy, who was watching her intently, already getting into his ‘producer-mood’ as she liked to call it. “And it has the perfect spot of a feature and I was sort of hoping that maybe you wanted to feature on it?” The last part came out all jumbled and quick, but Chloe was worried that he would say no, leaving her back at square one again.
“Me?” he questioned, his eyebrows raising, but Chloe just nodded. “Let’s just listen to it and see.”
He didn’t sound convinced and that worried Chloe, but she nodded again, pressing play on the song, letting the older man listen to the song for the first time. He listened intently, almost like he was blocking out the rest of the world and focusing on just the song and nothing else. He nodded along with the music, and Chloe had gotten good at reading the older’s facial expressions over the years, knowing in an instant when he liked the song and where he thought it could be improved.
As soon as the song was over, Chan paused for a moment before letting out a long sigh, putting Chloe instantly on edge. “It’s a good song,” he spoke after a moment, leaning back in his chair. “I just don’t think that I'd be a good feature on it.”
Chloe nodded, letting out a little sigh. “I thought you might say that, but I don’t know who else to ask.” They stayed quiet for a moment, both thinking, wondering what could be the missing piece of this song. Chloe looked down at her phone, mentally cursing herself for getting so lost in thought that she was running late for her meeting with Yeji. “I hate to go and meet Yeji, but I’ll figure it out,” she started standing up, closing her computer before smiling at the older. “Thank you for listening to it, though.”
Chan nodded, looking lost in thought still. “Do you mind if i show it to Changbin and Jisung?” he asked quietly, causing the younger to pause while putting her laptop away, shooting a questioning glance at the older, Chan just shrugged. “They might have more ideas on who would fit in the song.”
Chloe paused, thinking about it for a moment. She liked to keep her songs private until they were released (except for Chan because she trusted him and needed his help sometimes), but she was completely lost on who she should ask to be in the song. It probably wouldn’t help to get a third and fourth opinion on the matter.
She nodded, smiling lightly. “I’ll send it to you later tonight,” Chloe started, throwing her bag over her shoulder. “Thank you so much!”
Chan just smiled at her waving goodbye as she turned around and walked out of the room, running her way down to the practice rooms to see Yeji before she got impatient.
Chloe almost didn’t remember sending Chan her song until the next day when she got a text from the older, making her smile brightly, a huge weight being lifted off her shoulder.
CHANNIE BOY : i think we have an idea of who could feature on your song :)

FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe’s first stage back is too much to handle. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon WORDS :: 0.7K WARNINGS :: crying ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
Chloe wasn’t nervous, though she felt like she should be. It wasn’t that she was confident that she would win on the music show today, but it was more of the fact that she didn’t really feel like she needed to win. She had been promoting for a little under a week now and after the first day, it had been nothing but a dream for her. Her fans were loving performance after performance and the love she had been receiving for her new music was everything that she had wished. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to win, it was that she didn’t need to win. She was happy with what had come about and she didn’t need more than what she had right now. That’s not her saying that it wouldn’t be nice to win, but Chloe wasn’t one to get her hopes up for something, just in case. She would like to win, but she doesn’t need to win.
Chloe had tuned out from where she was standing on the stage, not bothering to listen to what the MC’s had to say. It was the same spiel over and over again and Chloe’s mind was far too many places for her to even be listening. She just hoped that she looked like she was listening because she’s not sure if she could handle a Chloe-Kwon-is-rude scandal popping up when things had been going so well so far.
It wasn’t until the confetti roared and Minju was handing her a trophy that she was pulled out of her thoughts, realizing what was going on. She looked over in time to see Hyunjin laughing at her subtly, noticing that she had been zoning out and Chloe just knew she would be seeing this moment all over Twitter later that night. Everyone was staring at her expectantly, waiting for her to say something.
“Um,” she started, ever so eloquently, noticing the MC’s laughing slightly on the side. “I wasn’t really expecting to win today, so I don’t really know what to say,” she started, finally finding the camera to look into, laughing lightly. “I just want to thank all of my lovely fans out there, because without you guys I would have had a much harder time coming back after three years.” she could feel tears start welling up in her eyes. “God, I’m getting all emotional,” she laughed lightly, fanning at her face to try and dry the tears that were threatening to fall. “Anyway, I just want to thank everyone that helped me through this cause I know I’m not the easiest and I want to thank you all again because I wouldn’t be standing here without you and I really hope that you guys continue to like and support my music going forward.”
She ended her speech with a bow as the MCs finished off the show, telling everyone to tune back in again next week, her song starting to play in the background. Everyone left, leaving her up alone on stage and Chloe finally realized how surreal it felt to be standing up on stage like that again. It had been three years since the last time she had gotten a music show win, and it almost felt like Chloe was never going to get one again. Back then, she had been far too cocky, expecting win after win when she went on shows, but now she was brought back to what it felt like to get her very first win on a music show ever and the rush of pride and emotion that flowed through her.
She started feeling sentimental again when Bora ran up on stage, hugging her tightly, the other back up dancers following after her to dance around with her. Chloe smiled brightly, because it felt like the first time all over again and she couldn't be more proud of how far she’s come.

UNEXPECTED FEELINGS !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe realizes the depth of her feelings for Sunwoo. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon, Kim Sunwoo, Hwang Yeji, Choi Jisu, Lee Chaeyeon, Kim Chaewon WORDS :: 1.6K WARNINGS :: implied drinking, drunk characters, swearing ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
Chloe wasn’t one for relationships. It wasn’t that she actively avoided them, or that she was scared of them. No, it was none of those. Chloe was a hopeless romantic at heart, she loved the idea of love, she loved the feeling of loving someone and being loved back. She wasn’t scared to be in a relationship at all, she just didn’t need to be in one.
Maybe it was the fact that her mother had barely ever been in any relationships growing up, and never once did her mom look like she was unhappy. Once, when Chloe was little and watching one of the many princess movies she loved back then, she had asked her mom why she never had her prince charming and her mom had just smiled at her saying she didn’t need one if she already had everything she wanted. It had made Chloe laugh at the time, thinking her mom was just saying that because her daughter was right there in front of her, but as she grew up, Chloe realized that she was right.
Chloe was happy. She had a great career and fans that stuck with her through thick and thin. Friends that never got bored or tired of her. She had everything she needed and she was doing what she loved, so she really couldn’t ask for more. Though, looking at Sunwoo after he drifted off to sleep, Chloe couldn’t help that small feeling she had in her stomach only a few times before. Chloe wasn’t against relationships, not in the slightest. She was a more go with the flow type person. If it happened, if happened, but she was content without having to be in a relationship.
Chloe stared down at the man, his face soft and sweet in sleep, a little flushed from the drinks he had consumed during the night. It was late and Chloe knew she should probably go to bed, that the butterflies in her stomach were all due to the alcohol running through her system, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the peaceful boy. Today had been a rather uneventful meeting between the two, Sunwoo had called her up, saying he needed to rant about how stressed he was with the increased number of practice lately, and Chloe could never turn the boy down. So, she agreed to meet, even though she had to get up early the next day (or was it technically today at this point?), at the crack of dawn to get ready for a schedule. In her years away from the idol life, she nearly forgot just how taxing promotions can be.
She knew this was bad, she could almost feel the anxiety rising up in her chest as she realized what these butterflies meant, what it meant that she would just drop everything at one singular call from the boy. She hadn’t felt this way in so long, not even for her first boyfriend she had for all of one month during her hiatus, not since Chan. She knew this was bad, that she shouldn't feel this way, that she couldn't. What they had was casual and she couldn’t fuck that up.
Chloe let out a sigh, not loud enough to disturb the boy, pushing a few strands of hair that had fallen into his eyes out of his face, before getting up. She needed to go to bed. She needed to sleep this off, even if she would have a massive hangover the next day. It was all in her head and it would go away if she didn’t think about it. She made the short walk from her living room to her bed room, instantly plugging her phone in and setting an alarm before crawling into bed. Nala wasted no time curling up next to her, shooting her a dirty glare, almost as if she could read her thoughts and was telling her that this was a bad idea.
“Don’t you give me that look,” Chloe told her cat, rolling over and quickly drifting off to sleep.
Weeks past and to be honest, Chloe had completely forgotten about that night. She did, however, keep getting those butterflies in her stomach every time Sunwoo would call or text her, and even though the two hadn’t seen each other since that night, Chloe was ready to drop everything if that meant she would see him for a bit. Luckily, the two were very busy, Chloe with promoting and Sunwoo getting ready for all of his end of the year award shows that Chloe missed going to. It gave Chloe time to try and stop the strange emotions that were bubbling up inside her.
She wanted to talk to someone about it, someone that would help her get her head on straight, but she really didn’t know who. Yerim and Minho would turn this into some sort of lesson, or warning about her not getting her and making sure to not ruin her image (the two had taken to basically becoming her pseudo parents since her mom was all the way back in Canada). Chan was off limits since she knew she wasn’t going to be able to explain it without letting her long gone crush on him get exposed. Kevin was in a group with Sunwoo and Chloe wasn’t going to risk making things awkward between the boys. Bora would be understanding, but she’s basically the devil on her shoulder and would not be of much help in getting her head screwed on straight and Jongdae and her are still far too awkward from the whole shipping fiasco for her to talk to him about boys.
“Who are you waiting to text you?” a teasing voice cut through her thoughts, causing the girl to look up at her computer. Her friends stared back at her and Chloe suddenly felt back for getting so lost in her own thoughts when she had agreed to facetime her friends tonight.
It was late, but the girls felt like they hadn’t seen each other in forever, though to be fair Chloe sees Yeji and Jisu pretty often since they work in the same building, hell, the two girls only live a few floors below her anyway. Chaeyeon and Chaewon, on the other hand, were a completely different story and Chloe really does feel like it’s been ages since she’s seen them.
They all started back at her expectantly and Chloe wasn’t sure of what she should tell the girls, she didn’t even realize that she was staring down at her phone, not even sure that she was waiting for someone to text her, though she knew in the back of her mind she was.
“Is it Sunwoo?” Yeji teased, laughing with Jisu from where they were sitting on one of the girls' beds. Chaeyeon and Chaewon joined in with little ‘oohs’, all the girls watching as a small blush rose on Chloe’s cheeks while she shyly put her phone face down so she wouldn’t get distracted by it.
“What’s even going on with you and Sunwoo anyway?” Chaeyeon questioned, tilting her head to the side slightly and Chloe sighed, figuring it was probably now or never.
“Nothing really,” She shrugged and all of the girls seemed a bit confused. “I mean he comes over, we drink and rant, and sometimes we have sex, that’s really it.”
“But you like him,” Jisu spoke up, a knowing look on her face and Chloe knew it was more of a statement rather than a question.
“I mean maybe a bit-”
“Bullshit!” Chaeyeon interrupted with a laugh, catching Chloe off guard. “I haven’t seen you this head over heels for a guy since Chan, and we all know how whipped you were for him!”
All the other girls nodded, though Chloe knew for a fact that none of them were there to witness her hopeless crush on Chan. Both Yeji and Jisu joined JYP after her crush had finally settled and was gone, though Chloe knew that there had still been many rumors about it floating through the trainees at that time. Chaewon was a newer addition to their little group, only joining once Chaeyeon had pulled her into their meetings, saying that their group needed to expand more, so Chloe was certain she had no actual clue what Chaeyeon was talking about.
There was a long pause, Chloe being far too stubborn to admit that Chaeyeon was in fact right, because she, herself, didn’t even really want Chaeyeon to be right. “Look,” the slightly older girl started with a small sigh. “I just think that you should tell him, or at least talk to him about what your relationship actually is. I just know you were so into Chan last time and even though nothing happened you still came crying to me about literally everything and I don’t want to see that same thing happen to you again.”
Chloe shrugged, pushing the thought of Sunwoo hooking up with other girls out of her mind. “I’ll be fine, trust me.” she said a tone of finality to her voice and the rest of the girls nodded, quickly moving on to other topics and laughing deep into the night.

NEW YEAR, NEW ME !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe spends new years alone. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon WORDS :: 0.7K WARNINGS :: none ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
It was getting late. Well, late enough that Chloe wanted to go to bed, though she had never been one to stay up past midnight anyway. She stared at her clock, the bright red numbers glowing into the darkness of her room, the only sounds coming from Nala’s loud purring beside her. 11:55. Five more minutes.
It was funny to Chloe, that even on the night that everyone stayed up for, she found it hard to keep her eyes open. It was New Year’s Eve and Chloe was sitting in her bed, glasses on, ready to sleep. She felt like one of the most boring people on the face of the planet.
To be fair, it wasn’t like she had anyone to hang out with, all of her friends off celebrating for the night. Though, Yerim insisted that Chloe had to stay put, not wanting any bad press right as her album was about to drop. She considered doing an instagram live with her fans, hoping she would be able to spend the time with somebody, but ultimately decided against it, choosing to spend the night completely alone.
Chloe let out a small sigh, trying her best to not feel the impressing loneliness that was creeping up now that she was only minutes away from the start of the new year. She reached out and placed a hand gently on Nala, rubbing the soft fur, something that soothed her often. Nala’s head shot up, even the slightest movement awakening her from her slumber, though she wasted no time rubbing up against Chloe’s hand, begging for more scratches.
Chloe felt the tiredness at the edges of her eyes, begging for her to just give up and go to sleep, but she couldn’t, she knew she couldn’t. She mentally cursed JYP for deciding that it was best to start off the new year with the release of her music video, making her have to wait up, since she would be far too nervous to go to sleep without at least seeing the reception first. She looked toward the clock one more time. 11:59. One more minute.
She could feel her heartbeat pick up slightly as she unlocked her phone, quickly opening up her youtube page, ready to refresh as soon as the clock struck midnight. She was worried, worried in a way that she had never been for her releases before. It had been so long since she put out any music, and the sound of her new album being so much different than any of her other music was a cause of concern for her. She tried to think back to Sunwoo’s words, but she couldn't shake the anxiety as she stared at the small numbers on her phone, waiting for them to change.
Chloe’s eyes were trained on the numbers and after what felt like hours, the numbers finally changed, 12:00 staring right back at her. She refreshed the page, clicking on the music video and letting it play. She tapped her foot nervously, not paying too much attention to the music video, but more waiting for it to finish so she could gauge people’s reactions. It didn’t take long for the comments to start coming in, though most of the first ones were just saying that they liked before the video even started. She kept refreshing the comments, looking for something, anything that would tell her what people thought of her new music.
As Chloe finished the music video, she noticed more and more comments, an overwhelming majority of them being positive and she smiled, the anxiety that had been creeping up on her all day suddenly washing away once she realized that her fans were happy with the music. She could wait to see what everyone thought of her new music later, but for now she knew her fans were happy and that was all it took to get her to have a good night’s sleep.

STRANGE FEELING !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe’s first stage back is too much to handle. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon, Im Bora, Lee Sohee WORDS :: 1.1K WARNINGS :: panic attacks ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
Chloe almost forgot what it was like to be backstage. The last time she set foot in one, at least as an artist, was three years ago, though as she looked around, nothing had changed. There was still the same amount of staff running around, making sure everything was done to perfection, and idols running back and forth getting ready to get back on stage. It was almost calming to know that things were still the same after all this time, though she couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling washing over her as Sohee packed on more and more makeup, taking all of the imperfections away.
She was used to being on stage, it was something she had gotten used to after she stood on stage at the talent show in third grade, showing off her sloppy guitar skills she had been so proud of the entire time. It was strange for her to get nervous going on stage, the last time she had felt like this was for her very first stage after her debut, she hadn’t even felt this nervous on Sixteen.
The strange feeling settled at the bottom of her stomach, in the background, but still very much present. Chloe tried to focus on the sounds of the monitor off to her right, some girls group she couldn't recognize playing in the background, though she only felt the feeling spike at the thought that soon she would be standing on that exact stage, performing just like them.
She pushed the thought to the back of her mind, trying her best to clear her thoughts as Sohee finished up, trying to not bring any attention to the rach thoughts that she was experiencing, though Chloe had always been an open book and even if Sohee was new to her team, she was good at reading people.
“You good, Chloe?”
She wasn’t. She could tell she wasn’t, but she couldn’t say anything, she knew she had to perform. She just nodded her head quickly, and Sohee, sweet, sweet Sohee didn’t push her, even if the look on her face told Chloe that she didn’t believe her for a second. She nodded slightly, backing away from the younger girl to allow her room to get up, and Chloe hopped out of the seat in a second, beginning to walk around the room, singing her song lightly under her breath, like she would forget the lyrics if she didn’t.
She wasn’t sure just how long she was pacing back and forth, but she knew she lost count of how many times she ran through the song. It almost made her mad that she was so worried, she already went through the process of being scared about people’s opinions on the album and it had turned out okay in the end, why was she so nervous for the actual performance?
“Chloe!” Bora’s voice rang through her thoughts, causing the younger to snap her head up, looking at the older girl who was all smiles. “We’re up in a few so we should probably start heading backstage!”
Chloe felt herself nod mechanically, but thoughts immediately started racing through her mind. Thoughts about how she had been too careless and fort to practice her dance. Thoughts about how she was going to trip and fall on live television. Thoughts about how people were going to hate the performance. Thoughts about how she should have never come back. They all flew through her mind before she could stop them and she could hear rushing in her ears, the world closing in around her as the thoughts continued to race. She could feel her heartbeat pick up and her breathing becoming more labored.
It hurt, she thought, breaking the thoughts in her mind for a split second, her hand coming up to grab at her chest. She wasn’t sure when the tears began to fall, but she could feel the hot streaks falling down her face, a quick Sohee’s gonna kill me running through her mind, making her feel instantly worse.
She could hear people shuffling around her, she could vaguely tell that they were saying things, probably to her, because the rush of thoughts made it hard to figure out what any of them were saying. It wasn’t until she felt a gentle hand on her arm, rubbing it in soothing circles, that she felt like she could breathe just a bit better.
Chloe looked up, coming face to face with a worried-looking Bora. “Chloe, hey, breathe with me,” her voice was soft and sweet, pulling Chloe a bit more out of her thoughts.
She stared intently at the older girl, watching her breathe in and out slowly, following along with her with jagged breaths. Chloe wasn’t sure how long they stood like that, in the middle of the room, everyone’s worried gazes trained on them as the two girls continued to take deep breaths, though she couldn't find it in her to care. She could feel the thoughts receding, her mind slowly becoming more and more open again. That strange feeling settled itself back in the bottom of her stomach, but it didn’t feel all too overwhelming anymore.
She kept calming down, Bora rubbing soothing circles into her back, continuing to make her breathe until her breaths were no longer jagged, but more even and all the tears stopped all together.
“Are you okay?” Bora’s voice was soft and sweet, her eyes filled with worry. Chloe just nodded back wordlessly, not trusting her voice, but instantly looking over to Sohee, a silent question to ask if she could fix her makeup.
Bora put herself in between the two, making Chloe’s eyes focus on her again. “You know you don’t have to perform today, right? I’m sure people will understand.”
“I can perform,” Chloe replied and she internally cringed when what she intended to be a firm voice came out as uneven and coarse.
Bora looked at her with worried eyes, but let her walk back over to the makeup chair she was in before. She wasn’t okay, in fact she probably should have listened to Bora and not performed, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that if she didn’t get this first performance over with, it would only get worse and worse every time she tried to perform. She pushed back all the worrying thoughts, allowing herself to be consumed by the feeling of Sohee fixing the tear-stained makeup she had messed up.

ROUTINE !
SUMMARY :: In which Chloe gets some advice. CHARACTERS :: Chloe Kwon, Kim Sunwoo WORDS :: 0.8K WARNINGS :: drinking, swearing, mentions of sex ( if i missed anything let me know ! )
“When’s your comeback again?” Sunwoo’s deep voice slurred out and Chloe could tell he’d probably had far too much to drink tonight.
“The first,” Chloe mumbled, taking another sip of her almost empty drink, trying to keep her eyes away from the way Sunwoo pulled his lips in between his teeth.
“Shit, that’s soon,” the boy responded, shaking his head just a bit. “How are you feeling?”
“Honestly?” she questioned, looking for Sunwoo to nod his head, telling her it was okay to let it all out in the open.
It wasn’t like she had expected the boy to say no. That was their whole arrangement, getting together, getting drunk and ranting about the little things that worried them, or the person that had made them mad that week. Sometimes, just sometimes, things went farther than just the ranting and drunk flirting, not that Chloe would complain, though she could tell this wouldn’t be one of those times. Sunwoo was far too drunk and he was delving into deep territory. On those nights it was nothing more than long, deep chats, sometimes ending in some tears with the other person not knowing how to comfort the other.
Sunwoo nodded quickly, his eyes wide, looking over towards Chloe like a lost puppy and she had to physically restrain herself from cooing at the face he was making.
“I just want to get it done with,” she spoke, her voice was quiet as she looked anywhere but the eyes of the boy, who stared at her with a confused look.
“Why?” he questioned, causing Chloe to actually look at him. “Do you not want to perform?”
“I do!” she replied quickly, shaking her hands in front of her. “I’ve just been gone for so long-”
“You don’t know how people will react?” Sunwoo finished.
Chloe smiled lightly, nodding her head before she placed her chin on top of her knees. “Not to mention the fact that my fans have built up some crazy expectations of what this comeback will be.” she mumbled. “I just don’t want to fuck it up.”
Sunwoo was silent for a minute and Chloe was tempted to look over at the boy, hoping that he didn’t fall asleep on her. It took a minute but Sunwoo made a noise of acknowledgement, nodding his head slightly as he seemed to think over his next words carefully.
“Can I be blunt?” he broke the silence, his eyes staring into Chloe’s wide ones.
She nodded slowly. She hoped whatever Sunwoo had to say would help kick her out of this anxiety-ridden slump she’d been in ever since the company announced her comeback instead of just making things ten times worse. Sunwoo was blunt, but he had a knack for making Chloe realize she was being an idiot in these situations.
“You might fuck it up,” he replied, shrugging his shoulders and Chloe held back giving him a questioning gaze. “I mean, your music is so different now that people might think it’s a mistake, but you like the direction that your music is heading, right?” Chloe nodded, wordlessly. “So, who gives a shit if it’s not as successful as before or anything like that? You’re making the music that you want and that should be all that matters.”
The slightly older girl paused, the drunken words running through her mind. A wave of calmness flooded through her as she finally started to realize that she would never be able to make everyone happy, but she could at least make herself happy with the music she chose to put out. She smiled, Sunwoo’s bluntness finally getting it through her thick skull. She remembered Chan and Chaeyeon telling her the exact same thing, but for some reason it only stuck when the younger had put the thought in her head. It was almost nice to finally not have someone sugarcoat it.
“Thanks, Sunwoo,” she smiled at the younger one. “I think I needed to hear that.”
Sunwoo just let out a low laugh, his cheeks bright red from the alcohol they were drinking, but Chloe couldn’t stop herself from wishing her smile made it happen. “No problem,” he replied. “People sometimes get mad when I talk like that, so it’s nice to be able to say it to someone without worrying about making them mad.”
“Feel free to be blunt with me all the time,” she laughed. “It looks like I need it.”
“I’ll be sure to keep that in mind,” he replied, taking another swig of the drink he had in front of him, turning back to the screen that played some drama neither of them had been paying attention to.

[ DECEMBER 1 , 2020 ! ]
A representative from JYP Entertainment put out a statement this morning talking about solo artist, Chloe Kwon’s future plans in the industry. The announcement came as a shock to many fans after the silence about about any sort of music coming out for the artist for nearly three years since she was officially placed on an indefinite hiatus in 2017 due to personal reasons.
The representative reported that Chloe Kwon would be coming back to her fans with a four part album series, something the singer has been working on since her hiatus started. They stated that the fans will be able to see a new, more mature side to the singer in these albums.
The singer also seems very excited for these releases as was seen in her latest Instagram post where she wrote a letter to the fans. “I can’t wait to share my music with all of you,” the singer wrote to her fans late last night. “These songs are near and dear to my heart and I can’t wait of finally stand on stage again.” The singer then ended her note with a solemn “thank you for sticking by me through these rough times, but I can’t wait for you to see the new version of me.”
you can check out the full statement by JYP Entertainment below:
