Panta Sanjeevani- A Boon for Farmers
“Panta Sanjeevani'' initiative is a Farm pond scheme, launched in 2015 by the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu to predominantly support the farming community in Rayalaseema Particularly in the district of Ananthapur to dig one lakh farm ponds as a part of the programme.
To nurture crop cultivation during dry spells and improve the diminishing groundwater levels under the programme Panta Sanjeevani, farm ponds are being sanctioned to store water for crops as well as for storage of rainwater during the rainy season and recharging of groundwater. For a more detailed view of the project and the Latest TDP News visit the official website.
The Panta Sanjeevani programme started with an expenditure of Rs.100 crores across the state of Andhra Pradesh. Under this initiative, three designs for building a farm pond in farmlands are offered to the farmers. This project is primarily for small and marginal farmers who are having land holdings of up to five acres. This scheme helped the farmers in tackling minimising groundwater levels via water harvesting, besides offering water from nearby borewells to the farming community. This is considered as one of the Top TDP Schemes in Ananthapuram.
