consider the following bitemark scenario:

viper is surrounded by paperwork and mission reports, a mountain of folders piling up on her desk. she presses her fingers to her temple and sighs in frustration.

“you shouldn’t overwork yourself,” chamber mutters, shaking his head at the sight before thumbing through a box of her records, mostly classics with the occasional punk rock group, but nothing chamber recognizes until he spots a familiar 60s vinyl. he carefully places it onto her record player. “can i distract you?”

“yes, please,” viper grumbles, wheeling her office chair out from under the desk to finally free herself. just two months ago, she wouldn’t have even humored chamber’s offer, but as the two of them grew closer, she finds herself missing his company when he isn’t pestering her.

chamber quirks an eyebrow as he fumbles with her record player, tuning it attentively before finding the right setting. an old love song echoes through her office, playing softly and instantly relieving some of the stress off of viper’s shoulders. when he offers viper a hand, she shoots him a skeptical look.

oh, my love, my darling.. i’ve hungered for your touch a long, lonely time..

“what are you up to?” she asks, fighting the smile that toyed with the corner of her lips. she hesitates, but she takes his hand.

chamber brings viper up to her feet, his other hand finding her waist as he pulls her in for a dance. “you said i could distract you,” he says with a smirk. “what better way than this?”

“i don’t know, food? television?” viper teases as the two of them sway slowly. she attempts to ignore the way her heart aches in her chest.

chamber’s laugh at her words doesn’t help her fight the feeling away. “you just can’t let yourself fall for me, can you?”

“then you’d win,” viper retorts, but if she’s being honest, he already won. she studies his sharp jawline, anything to ignore his eyes that were definitely looking into her own.

“and that would be so bad?” he questions, cocking his head slightly.

viper falls silent, collecting her thoughts before she speaks. “i’m undecided,” she shrugs, not entirely lying. letting herself fall in love with chamber meant letting herself be vulnerable. her walls have been up for a long time. it was hard to imagine letting someone else in. not only that, but the risk of losing chamber was all too real.

“well, you already know that i’m here when you do decide,” chamber says, his features and tone of his voice softening. viper never asked him to wait for her, but the fact that he would makes her want to give in to him even more.

Prodigal son he may be, but it didn’t mean shit when he was faced with a woman as awarded as Dr. Callas.
