La Chambre de Madame Victoire (Madame Victoire’s Chamber) This lavishly decorated room served as the bedchamber of Madame Victoire from 1769 onwards. It was however not a private space as the apartments of Victoire at Versailles were official and according to palace etiquette she had to receive certain guests there. The fabrics on her bed and on the walls are reproductions to evoke the originals and were made with a dying technique called ‘Chiné à la Branche’, which became very popular at the French court in the 18th century. The wainscoting is original and was made by French sculptor Jules-Antoine Rousseau (1710-1782). Two pieces of the original furniture have been brought back to this room: the corner cabinets (seen on photo 2 & 3) by cabinet maker Gilles Joubert (1689-1775). @chateauversailles #chateauversailles #châteauversailles #chateaudeversailles #châteaudeversailles #versailles #palace #interior #interiordesign #madamevictoire #bedroom #bedchamber #lavish #fabric #chinéàlabranche #furniture #18thcentury #art #museum #france #frenchart (bij Château de Versailles) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_w9YZvlN3Z/?igshid=3s6mtdqcuusf
