BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Conflict episode 9 review
Oooh! So, the last episode's ending card "poem" was indeed about Kyoraku -just like I had suspected! I just loved the music that was in the background when Kyoraku was talking to Lille Barro about children's games and how deadly those can be. I seriously hope someone will make an epic ost of that... Also, while I know Bleach came before Squid Games, the fact that Kyoraku talked about children's games and how deadly those are, plus when he played The Dharma Doll Fell Down together with Lille Barro just made me think Squid Game's Red Light, Green Light. Not to mention the version of that game in my own childhood... it was kind of interesting after Kyoraku had explained the rules to Lille Barron he admitted he too knew the game, just with a different name. I wonder how many variations there are about that game and are those pure variations or just name variations?
Yay for finally after such a long time someone using a kido in the battle! While it hardly did any damage, it was still nice to see kido being used. But I suppose Kyoraku using kido against Lille Barro proved one thing: kido won't be that effective against strong Quincy opponents. Or at least against Lille Barron.
Also, as a side note, ever since when the manga Lille Barron's Vollständig Jilliel was first shown I've disliked it. There is just something in it that makes it look so...corny? To me, he looked like a weird cocoon with wings at first (before he gained weird giraffe-like legs). I'm not sure if originally his Vollständig had a butterfly motif, but because it was already heavily associated with Aizen they had to change it. Manga readers know how this change will appear!
I must admit seeing Kyoraku's Bankai animated was beautiful. There is just something visually beautiful (at least to me) when there are black and golden colors. Plus, the fact there were hints of other colors made it all the more beautiful.
Katen (Ohana) was slaying! It was good to see her again and made me wonder (once again) if Kubo had given animators heads on Katen's design during the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc in the anime. Even so, I suppose for those who haven't watched that arc or sort of, this was her first appearance if not counting manga.
All the interactions between Katen and Kyoraku were interesting. I wonder what he was going to say to her at the end of the episode? I suppose we have to wait for the continuation of that. Also, when Kyoraku went into Bankai and basically made the ocean around himself and Lille Barron, I wonder if everybody else sunk? Like, how they will view that as they clearly see the color changes? So, will they see all that water and are at the moment moving in water? I hope we'll switch to someone else's POV to see that before Kyoraku dismisses his Bankai. Not to mention, hopefully, Nanao can get to Kyoraku on time to heal him as he is at the moment heavily wounded...
Gotta love how Shinji was vibing in this episode. While his attitude seemed very carefree in fact he was very sharp and smart. Which is totally Shinji's style. I also loved the fact when Momo tried to argue against Shinji over the fact they should go back and help Kyoraku, Shinji referred to Ukitake as making everybody still briefly and literally see and hear what Ukitake would say if he was still with them. Write about influencing a person, not to mention the fact Shinji knew if he had used Yamamoto at first as an example, others probably wouldn't have listened to him. After all, it seemed Ukitake was someone they all could relate to and understand if someone could understand Kyoraku's motivations and duties toward Gotei 13, it would be him. It was a pretty interesting moment, not to mention it showed despite Shinji pulling somewhat carefree character, he is still a captain for a reason.
What was that seemingly random update about Askin's and Ichigo's fight in between Kyoraku's and Lille Barron's fight before Kyoraku went to Bankai? It felt very...abrupt even though it didn't truly cut the flow of things which is a good thing, but even so. It was a bit weird. It felt like 'oh yeah, people might be forgetting what our protagonist is up to, so here is a brief update!' Even so, it felt all the more random when after Kyoraku had activated his Bankai we were shown glimpses of Ichigo against Askin, Yoruichi healing (?) Grimmjow, a brief glimpse of Orihime and Chad, the rest of the shinigami still running toward Yhwach's palace, and Nanao running where Kyoraku was. While it was a nice glimpse of Askin basically showing he will upgrade his poison balls it felt a bit needless -at least to me.
Mayuri at the beginning of the episode was a bit amusing since he went from 'I'm the true genius in here!' to 'oh no' in a split second. xD But, we'll see how things will go with him in the next episode based on the title of it. I'm already looking forward to next week's episode~.

going through summer play activities for kids (for work), and I feel like it could just be very good and healthy for all of us adults if we maybe did some squirt gun painting. Played some sponge water bomb catch. Made some salt dough pendants. Blew some giant bubbles, even.

Did anyone ever play this handgame as a child?
"Tarzan, monkey man, swinging from a rubber band. Fell down, broke his crown. What color was his blood?"
And then the person who it landed on would pick a color, the group would spell it out, and then the last person it landed on would be out for the next round.

funny how celebrities will raise $26M for a fashion institute but can't be bothered to mobilise even a fraction of that energy and money to help the people being tortured and killed in an unapologetic genocide as we speak. love that for society. what a moment for The Culture.
