( Sorry you've waited so long! Hopefully this turned out okay! This was the first thing I did after my hiatus so apologies if it's a lil wonky and short, plus I don't think I have his character down very well yet. Also I wrote this as a follow-up to Malachi's portion of my Children of the Corn Yandere alphabet. Enjoy! )
(Yan!H/cs)
♡ Ever since grade school, it was as if all the kids telepathically decided to avoid him like the plague
♡ He didn’t know why no one would play with him
♡ Maybe it was because he was always a little more naturally aggressive than the other kids, maybe it was because of that mean look he mindlessly always had on his face
♡ Maybe that was why no one asked him to play with them and why everytime he would gather the courage to ask to join they would always answer with the excuse that there was no room
♡ School dances were even worse
♡ He swore the number of students was an odd number, leaving him all alone
♡ He would watch everyone couple up or group together to dance their feet off
♡ No one ever asked him to dance, leaving him sitting next to the punch bowl
♡ It wasn’t until highschool that he actually made real friends that shared his rowdy nature
♡ He was able to get over how no one played with him in his early childhood (at least that’s what he told himself) but school dances still felt like an endless suffocation
♡ Especially since his crush on you evolved from pulling your hair for your attention to not even being able to form a single word to you
♡ And especially since you’ve started to fill out your dresses for school dances better and better each year
♡ He would twist the skin on his arm as a way to get himself to stop staring at you from across the gym
♡ It happened one or two times when he would get a sudden burst of adrenaline and approach you with held breath
♡ He lured over you from behind, tapping your shoulder which prompted you to turn around with a soft look of surprise on your face
♡ The weight of the situation and the intensity of your attention flustered him beyond his sense of control
♡ He glared and grunted and turned on his heels to march away, leaving you blinking in puzzlement
♡ No one dared question him on why he was quick with banning games and music when the cult succeeded
♡ But they all had their suspicions as to why
♡ Months had passed after the adult slaughter and months after Malachi had claimed you as his and kept you imprisoned by his side
♡ You knew all too well of his paranoia with you, the paranoia that makes the belief that hangs over his head 24/7 that everyone in town is either trying to harm you or take you from him
♡ He would much rather painfully claw and tear the skin off his own face than let anyone take you away from him
♡ You used this weakness of his to your advantage
♡ You expressed to him your completely made up notice that some of the others have been giving you these weird looks of a hunter, and successfully got his mind right where you wanted it
♡ You put the idea into his head, manipulating the conversation very meticulously to make it sound like it was his idea when you basically put the words into his mouth, to let you stay in that one abandoned house, away from everybody else
♡ You made him choose that one due to the fact it was closest to the road but of course you made sure he didn’t think too much on that crucial detail
♡ This was all for your safety of course, and not for the best chance of escape from this fucked up town and the obsessive and territorial murderer of your parents
♡ While you waited for the best, most fool-proof opening to make a break for it, you did find some enjoyment in the big house while Malachi was away
♡ And that included the record player collecting dust that was stashed away in the cellar
♡ You hadn’t heard music in forever
♡ There were very few records that were still in one piece, and none of them were from your era of music. The youngest one was a record from 1966 by Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs
♡ You didn’t even care if you knew their music or not, you just needed a melody in your ears to cleanse your brain of the horrid sound of dead silence and cult chants and screams of sacrificed nineteen year olds and corn leaves brushing together in the field
♡ As you placed down the record needle and the instruments began their tune, you closed your eyes to pretend you were anywhere but this hell hole while you slowly stepped side to side to find the beat
♡ As you found the rhythm of the first song “Lil’ Red Riding Hood” you lost yourself more in the sweet release of playful dance
♡ It was as if your ears went deaf to the music and could only hear the pulsating of your heart and your repressed heavy breaths after the terrifying sound of the dining room door slamming open, the doorknob making a brutish bang when it made contact with the wall
♡ Malachi stood in the doorway, stiff as a board, not a word spoken, and just staring at you with an unreadable, smoggy kind of look in his eyes. It was a horrible, ghastly look
♡ And even though he had never seriously gotten physical with you (pardoning accidental slaps and harsh grips) nor ever once expressing potential violence towards you… you feared for your life
♡ You legitimately believed he was about to pounce across the room to clutch both hands around your neck and rabidly compress until your vertebrae cracked
♡ Even if he wasn’t going to attack you, you still knew he was nothing but rageful on the inside right now
♡ There was absolutely no escape except for the one idea that trailed behind the memory of knowing you could have him wrapped around your finger if you choose the right actions
♡ And so you glided closer to him to the beat of “what big eyes you have”
♡ You courageously kept eye contact with him as you danced up to him, softly yet stiffly grabbing his hands to pull him across the room
♡ He effortlessly jerked his hands out of your grip to return them to dangle by his sides
♡ You repeated your previous action and used more forwardness to tug him him with you closer to the record player, you walking backwards as to not break eye contact (as if if you broke it he would lunge down and savagely bite out your shoulder like a wild wolf)
♡ Even though your heart was beating freakishly in your throat, you intertwined both of your hands into his and guided his hands along the rhythm
♡ Malachi wanted to fight it, to remove himself from your grasp and use the machete attached to his belt to destroy the record player. This dance felt nothing but tormenting to him, just a painful reminder, even though your willing touch sent his head reeling
♡ But he couldn’t just reward your disobedience. No matter how big of a soft spot he had for you, you weren’t an exception to the rules
♡ He slipped his hand out from your fingers to slowly reach for his weapon
♡ You didn’t know he was going to use it on the record player, your mind jumping to the conclusion that you were the blade’s destination. You touched the hand on his belt, gently grabbing it again to pull it to your lower back, giving his arm a quick tug to make his chest collide into yours
♡ This rendered him a blushing and stuttering mess
“I-I can’t… I don’t… I’ve never…”
“That doesn’t matter.”
♡ You swayed the two of you side to side as the song continued with the line “I'm gonna' keep my sheep suit on”
♡ Eventually you spun yourself so that your back was pressed against his torso, your arms crossed across your hips with your fingers still laced with his. He nuzzled his chin into the crook of your neck like a puppy as he inhaled and exhaled you, making you ponder if he could smell your fear
♡ You were so caught up on trying to calm your consternation you almost didn’t hear him mumble into your hair
“You love me too, right?”
♡ Your eyes widened and a nausea squeezed your gut when it registered what he had asked you
♡ You were terrified of telling him the truth of “no” yet equally as terrified of telling him a lie of “yes”. You settled on your vague answer
“…Not yet.”
♡ You felt him rub his cheek against your neck, seemingly okay with that answer
♡ Your nervous eyes remained locked on the window that displayed the glimpse of the long road outside, you didn’t know how much longer you could live like this
“You're everything that a big, bad wolf could want”

A trope I like:
'Little/shorter dude of evil out for power or revenge in some way and a sidekick who is completely deranged and worse than them.
#scream#children of the corn 1984#i actually find both stu and malachi to be a bit more deranged than their partners in crimes#stu did it for fun compared to billy who wanted revenge that fucked#malachi also didn't mind the killing and even Issac in the novel tells him he's like super misguided#i do find malachi a tragic character in both the movie and novel#they are both underrated villians#especially malachi#high thoughts#even jobs like malachi has some problems#and how no one ever wanted to play with him#malachi killing the man for no reason#stu making jokes about the murders#and getting all giggy that people are dressing up as Ghostface#i have a lot of points on both of them#they fact the kids fear malachi more than issac#stu I notice likes to get in peoples faces a lot too#like no personal space#i need to write an essay on this I think

I don't know if you remember or not about Mothpo lilmothscocoon, but he released cool fan readings for example Adolescent Anomalies (Adolescent Anomalies is a group of supernatural spoiled children who thirst for murder and House, this can be called anti-children mystery kids vs adolescent Anomalies this concept was inspired by bad end friends) but he already froze au, and decided to resurrect this project as a comic, here remember the end of episode 1 there is shown Gideons Gleeful hinting at the second episode and the beginning of the formation of the group adolescent Anomalies who will confront our mystery kids

1:First up we have Gideons Gleeful, a former psychic child con artist whose lust for absolute power drives him to manipulate and bully others into giving him what he wants. A sworn enemy of the Pines family and the Mystery Kids, he serves as Shanna Kaufman's Adolescent Anomalies
Personality: A sworn enemy of the Pines family, he becomes an enemy to the Mystery Kids as well. Raz and Lily have a special hatred for him for being a fake psychic, as they are real psychics themselves.Gideon, despite being ten years old, has knowledge of the supernatural on par with Dipper and the rest of the club. This makes him even more dangerous, as he is capable of using paranormal creatures and objects to destroy the Mystery Kids and, more importantly, the Pines family. This hatred for the family and the Spook Crew often causes Gideon to take extreme measures to get rid of them, such as making deals with dangerous powerful entities such as Bill Cipher or Giygas.Gideon is a self-proclaimed TV psychic whose true mission is to destroy his rival, the Mystery Shack. He uses his "cuteness" as an advantage to get what he wants, and admits that it makes it hard for people to say "no" to him. He seems to be able to be kind when necessary, as seen in most of his dates with Mabel. He is spoiled, ungrateful, selfish, self-centered, and cruel, especially towards his parents, such as throwing ice cream, yelling at them, causing a fuss, and smashing lamps. He is also very vengeful, to the point of attempting to kill the Pines family and the rest of the children after he was rejected by Mabel again and lost a bet to Stan. Although he is naturally mischievous, after Gideon was corrupted by Giygas, his childish sense of humor becomes increasingly malicious.
2:Second we have Isaac Chroner, a secondary antagonist in the Children of the Corn franchise. He is the leader of the Children of the Corn, a cult made up of children and teenagers who worship a demonic being called He Who Walks Behind the Rows. His second-in-command is the jealous Malachi
Little is known about Isaac's (originally William's) early years. According to Job's introductory narration, Isaac was a natural-born preacher whom everyone looked up to... except Job and his sister Sarah, who found Isaac more odd than interesting. Isaac also orchestrated the massacre of Gatlin's citizens as he spread his religious influence among the town's children. Isaac turns Gatlin into a "holy" place where no one may enter or leave, not even the children who still live there. He asserts his control over the children, with Malachi as his chief enforcer. Isaac threatens that to defy him is to sin against He Who Walks Behind the Rows, the cult's patron deity. A year after the murder of the Gatlin adults, HWWBTR informs Isaac that two people (Burt and Vicky) will be passing through town. Isaac prepares his "pack" to sacrifice the pair.
Vicky and Burt enter the town, finding it (at first glance) empty and abandoned. As Burt seeks help, Vicky is captured by Malachi, who brings her to Isaac. However, Isaac finds the sacrifice insufficient and tells Malachi that "he is not pleased." This leads to Malachi betraying Isaac and sacrificing him in Vicky's place. Later that night, Isaac senses the presence of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Despite his pleas, Isaac is "taken." However, unbeknownst to Malachi, Isaac is sent back by Him. Isaac kills Malachi and then suddenly disappears. Some time later he meets a strange stranger and says "who are you" and she replies "my name is Shanna Kaufman I am the leader of the Adolescent Anomalies" looking around everywhere House and offers him to join in order to spread and rule the world, at first he did not want some girl to command him but then she demonstrated and resurrected Malachi than showing her greatness and he agrees
Resonality:In most depictions, Isaac considers himself superior to his fellows because he heeds the word of the One Who Walks Behind the Rows. Isaac is usually not shy about confronting anyone who opposes him... even if that opposition is higher and more obnoxious than Isaac himself. Isaac's greatest talent is attracting and holding the attention of his flock. He is also prone to threatening them with cruel punishments, whether caused by others or by others. Isaac is not easily frightened; he is only frightened by the One Who Walks Behind the Rows, the mere sight of whom (according to Isaac) will lead to certain death. When Malachi (unwisely) attempts to crucify Isaac in a cornfield, Isaac fearfully points out that he has been faithful. He hates the mystery kids and is disgusted by them, according to him "they use their powers for other purposes and they should use them in the name of "the one who follows the Reds"" despite his menace, he is afraid of the leader Shanna Kaufman because of his abilities and all sorts of not to anger her and obey
3: On Meet This Bell is a female and a secondary antagonist of Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi . She is an original character and also a Shadowpuff Girl . She is the daughter and creation of Dr. X. She is also the half-sister of Mandark and the current owner of GIR .
At some point in time, Alexander Megalos got his hands on a vial of Chemical X from Professor Utonium. After using it on himself, he used the chemical to create Bell around the same time the Powerpuff Girls were created. Afterwards, her father performed various experiments on her, which terrified her.
Years later, Xander asked Samantha to show Bell her mechanical parts. Samantha cut the skin on her arm, revealing a blood-soaked mechanical arm. Xander was afraid that this would scare Bell, but she actually found it pretty cool. When Samantha ran away after this, she was afraid that Sam didn't like her. After Zim and GIR joined Black Eden, she became interested in Zim's work. However, he considered her a nuisance and instead introduced her to GIR, with whom they became best friends. Soon after, she approached her father and Sam. Xander asked Sam to show her her transformation abilities. Sam turned her hand into a gun, mesmerizing Belle once again. Hoping that everything would be okay, Xander would show Bell his Chemical X transformation, turning into Dr. X. This greatly scared Belle, as Samantha expected. Dr. X tried to be funny to calm her down, but he had to transform back. They managed to calm her down by showing GIR a cute dog outfit. At some point, Xander took on the form of Dr. X permanently, and Bell managed to get used to it. After Dee Dee's death, Bell found Mandark Astromon and invited him to join Black Eden, with Dr. X treating him like a son and Bell as a brother, calling him Susan. She would often sit by his side while he conducted experiments, and Mandark was her only friend. Later, Xander orders Bella and Shadowpuff Girl to join the Adolescent Anomalies for cooperation.
Resonality:Bell is a young girl who is often sent to carry out her father's orders. She is devoted to her father, but not completely obedient and has ignored his orders or objections in the past. However, she fears her father and is disliked by him. She is very loving and protective of her friends, and becomes angry when people try to harm them or when something happens to them. This is especially true when it comes to GIR, whom she is overprotective of and even willing to betray her allies. Due to her overprotectiveness of the small robot, as well as said robot's unpredictability, this is a huge weakness, as the threat of GIR being harmed can leave her either indecisive and scared, or unfocused in her attacks. After Mandark's death, she became lonely, as her father was busy with his world-ending plans and his friends showed no interest in her. She did not seem to care much for the Cluster member, and was angered by the way Kuvagus transported the Bomb. She is known to be sarcastic and even rude towards those she considers inferior to her. She appears to be very cheerful and playful when around Blossom, especially in battle, as they have the same physical strength. After joining the Adolescent Anomalies, she was so happy to have so many friends that she saw them as siblings, unlike her friends who have a particular hatred for the Mystery Kids, she finds them interesting and teases them in every way, saying that they are losers, but Dipper Pins is the only member she has a crush on and is always courting him, and she even begged to leave the Mystery Kids and join their ranks, much to Dipper Pins' fear and disgust.
4:the fourth one we have is Charis this is a mysterious and strange person they are the right hand of Shanna Kaufman and the rival of Kris Dremurr
little is known about them and even their origin is unknown, although it is known that they were found by Shanna Kaufman and taken into custody
Resonality:Most of the time they are calm and reasonable, however before battles they show their true natures turning into an evil aggressive creature they are also loyal to their mistress Shanna Kaufman they also command the other children and get angry when they don't, they have a special hatred for Kris Dremurr saying that they are bound by the past and all sorts of wants to kill him and replace him(interesting fact Charis is non-binary)
5:And finally Shanna Kaufman is a former friend of Ann Sasha and Marcy, and the main enemy of the Mystery Kids and is the leader of the Adolescent Anomalies
Resonality: At first glance, she is very depressed and uncommunicative like other goths, despite this, she is very friendly to Sasha Ann and Marcy, who helps them, but in fact, she is an evil, creepy, and cruel person who craves power and domination of the world, she is ready for anything, even murder, she will kill everyone who gets in her way, even people close to her such as Ann Sasha and Marcy, even as a child she wanted power and domination, she is a very manipulator and a liar who gets everything she wants, as shown, she has dark magic and super strength, durability and agility, even when she got the stones of disaster, she created the stone of death and her indicators are much greater.

Beating a Dead Crop: A Children of the Corn Retrospective
By Tabby Knight (instagram - tabby.knight6)
Artwork by Dy Dawson @xgardensinspace
If you’ve seen all of the Children of the Corn films in the franchise (dear God) I’m both somewhat impressed and also vaguely concerned for your mental wellbeing. I counted a total of 12 entries in the series, including the 2020 reboot and the 1983 short film Disciples of the Crow. Not bad, considering Stephen King’s original short story clocks in at approximately 10,000 words, and ends with a degree of finality that doesn’t exactly invite a sequel.
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Children of the Corn was originally published in Penthouse Magazine in 1977 and later reprinted in King’s short story anthology, Night Shift (1978) and follows a young married couple who accidentally hit a child with their car while driving through rural Nebraska. Burt and Vicky, who are road tripping to California in a last-ditch attempt to save their marriage, decide to put the boy (dead) in the back of their car and drive to the nearest town, Gatlin, for help. The shock of hitting the boy has been abated, somewhat, by the fact that he was likely already dead when they went over him — his throat's been slit from ear to ear. They are a little disturbed, however, to find a crucifix made of corn husks in the boy’s suitcase.
They arrive in Gatlin only to find it deserted, and the only building showing any sign of recent activity is the church, which is defaced, trashed, and decorated with corn. Inside, Burt also finds a record of births and deaths, and manages to piece together the town’s dark history: some twelve years ago, all the adults in town were massacred, and the children appear to have created a corn-worshipping cult in their absence. Since then, every registered death in town has occurred on the victim’s nineteenth birthday.
By the story’s conclusion (Spoilers) Vicky’s been mutilated and crucified on a cross of corn, and Burt finds himself trapped in Gatlin’s cornfields, pursued — and ultimately consumed — by a mysterious entity that lives amongst the rows. It ends with the children, who are informed by their nine-year-old cult leader, Isaac, that He Who Walks Behind the Rows is displeased with their inability to dispatch Burt, and has lowered ‘the age of favour’ from nineteen to eighteen as a punishment. As a result, the town’s eighteen-year-old residents march into the corn to sacrifice themselves to their god. One of those dispatched, Malachi, leaves behind a pregnant girlfriend, who fantasises about setting fire to the corn in retribution. We end with a line that still sticks with me years after I first read it: “Dusk deepened into night. Around Gatlin the corn rustled and whispered secretly. It was well pleased.”
And there you have it. It’s not King’s best short story by any means, but it’s far from his worst, and it has its own grim, mystical charm that appealed to me as a teenager and still appeals to me now. The cult operating in Gatlin works primarily because of its elusiveness, and its ambiguity. We don’t see the children overthrow the town, we see very little of the entity that lurks in the corn, and there’s no flashy final showdown. There’s a tragedy to the children that fails to translate to the films, a quiet sort of helplessness emphasised by their final march into the cornrows. The conclusion feels inevitable – this is the way things are in Gatlin, and it’s horrendous, but it’s unstoppable. It just is.
To the best of my knowledge, none of the film adaptations manage to capture this same sense of quiet horror, the idea that those who commit such atrocious evil are themselves victim to a larger, far more powerful force that cannot be overthrown or disobeyed.
It’s a shame, then, that the very first film adaptation – a 1984 venture starring Linda Hamilton – dispatches this sense of ambiguity and dread entirely. Instead we are left with a standard, far less eerie narrative structure, in which Burt rescues Vicky, teams up with a couple of the less murderous children, and manages to set fire to the cornrows, ostensibly killing (at least temporarily – 5 sequels and several reboots, remember) He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Instead of the quiet despair of the short story, emphasised by the pregnant Ruth’s secret desire to see the corn burn, we get a final jump scare and a happy ending as Burt, Vicky, and the two kids they appear to have adopted set out for Seattle on foot.
There are merits to the first film, at least. John Franklin makes an iconic and genuinely menacing (if a little campy) villain out of Isaac, who outshines the elusive creature behind the rows as the primary antagonist. Courtney Gains makes for a memorable Malachai - morally grey and surprisingly likeable, far more fleshed out than his literary counterpart. The supporting cast of Gatlin kids are suitably freaky, at least until Sarah and Job are established as good kids, which diminishes the effect somewhat, especially when the short story did so well as to establish the children as equal parts good and bad, victims of a larger system as well as perpetrators of violence.
By creating a binary in which children like Sarah and Job are all good,” while those such as Isaac and Rachel (the crazed adolescent responsible for that final scare) are “all bad,” we lose that sense of dread. Worse still, we lose the last remaining shred of realism in a film that has Burt pursued through the corn by a tunnelling monster right out of Tremors. As I said, we essentially lose the very point the source material is trying to convey.
That’s not to say it’s a wholly unlikeable film, of course, or that it’s universally hated by horror fans. Lots of people, myself included, look at the film with a great deal of fondness. But that doesn’t change the fact that it falls into that famed category of questionable Stephen King adaptations. It also doesn’t change the fact that it didn’t warrant a sequel, let alone five, and a string of ill-fated reboots with sequels of their own.
Horror movies and sequels go hand in hand, obviously, but unlike the other sequel machines of the 1980’s, the Children of the Corn franchise lacks the same fanatical following. When quizzed on franchises and their sequels, diehard horror fans tend to have very specific preferences. They have a favourite Nightmare on Elm Street, (Mine’s 3) a preferred Jason Vorhees (8-bit video game Jason, though I suspect I’m an outlier) and strong opinions on the superior Child’s Play film (It’s Bride). But with Children of the Corn, that level of diehard devotion appears to be lacking. I’ve met a lot of horror fans, and I’ve never had any of them tell me that Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, for example, is the best of the lot.
I don’t want to generalise, of course, because I’m sure someone out there is getting ready to contact me and tell me of their undying devotion to Urban Harvest. I only mean that as a collective, horror fans are incredibly tolerant of sequels, and often can discuss the merits of part six over part ten. A cursory glance at cinema attendance for the new Halloween and Scream sequels alone indicates a market for the same formula over and over again. I would argue, however, that Children of the Corn doesn’t necessarily fit into that category. With the possible exception of 666, which promises the return of the first film’s Isaac, none of the sequels on Wikipedia’s handy-dandy list either catch my eye or spark my memory, and I can’t be the only one.
The question, then, is why keep churning them out? Let’s not forget that this isn’t just a case of a one-off direct-to-video sequel, or even a trilogy. We’re talking about five direct sequels to the 1984 film, plus three maybe sequels (Revelation, Genesis, and Runaway) and two reboots (2009 and 2020/23).* The obvious answer is of course, money, but you can’t seriously tell me all these direct-to-video sequels are churning out bucketloads of profits. They’re certainly not churning out rave reviews, either from critics or audience members.
My best guess is that, like me, people continue to be drawn to and affected by the original source material, and want to create a film in that same vein. But if that’s the case, why the continual failure to accurately adapt that same source material? Why create a narrative in which He Who Walks Behind the Rows is easily dispatched by outsiders, when the real terror of the story (at least in my opinion) stems from His unrelenting hold over the children, even in the face of their growing resentment?
The 2020 adaptation, much like those that have come before it, has received mostly negative reviews, with an 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a 22/100 on Metacritic, and a staggering 1.6/5-star rating on Letterboxd. While I haven’t seen it myself (yet – if I do, it’ll bring my total number of CotC films up to…3) what I can glean from Wikipedia, Bloody Disgusting, and Letterboxd is that once again, the film fails to either accurately adapt the source material or, at the very least, capture the same spirit of terror the original story managed to convey.
In a perfect world, such universally abysmal reviews would signal a long-overdue death for the franchise, and I’d like to say I’m optimistic enough to hope for its end. But this is horror we’re talking about, and we appear to be in an age of unrelenting sequels for all genres regardless. And worst of all, there’s a backlog of twelve films whose very existence leave me pessimistic and cynical.
Incidentally, if you’d like to catch a Children of the Corn film that kind of captures the spirit of the original, consider checking out the aforementioned 1983 short film Disciples of the Crow. It’s not a perfect adaptation (Burt and Vicky still manage to escape unscathed, god damnit) but it goes a long way towards establishing that eerie sense of mindless violence and inevitability I talked about. It’s campy as hell, of course, terribly acted and not exactly scary, but it is only 18 minutes and free to watch on YouTube, and not too bad for a student film. At the very least, Burt isn’t pursued by a tunnelling monster as he attempts to set fire to a cornfield.
*In light of the pandemic, the 2020 rendition of Children of the Corn didn’t receive either mass distribution or a theatrical release until 2023. Interestingly, it was apparently the first film since the 1984 adaptation to even receive a theatrical release. Go figure.

Some horror movies I've seen so far this summer
I watched the Devil's Candy on Shudder today which was a really freaking excellent heavy metal horror film,. It was seriously good.
I heard a lot of mixed reviews for M3gan but I thought it was a pretty good solid movie.
I was disappointed in the remake of Children of the Corn. I watched it so many times back in the day (Outlander!! We have your woman!!" "He wants you too, Malachi!!"
I always remembered thinking if they just had had better CGI and effects they could have really done great things.
But the Remake instead of focusing on the religious aspect of everything turned it into a slasher movie starring children. And I was not impressed with how they depicted He Who Walks Behind the Rows.
Not at all.
Hellbender had some similar vibes and was a good rock and roll horror movie as well. Both had great young female leads. If you're looking for a modern witch tail that is a good one.
The Dark and the Wicked was really really good. If you're looking for something where people can't tell the difference between reality and hallucination this is the movie for you
I watched Antrum last week and that was great too. Very odd, had a 70's vibe. Very creepy and a whole lot of what the f*** is going on moments
Nope was extremely enjoyable as are all of Jordan Peeles movies. I feel like I need to go back and watch it again though is there a few things I just did not understand after I finished it.
Black Box had an unexpected twist so good to see Felicia Rashad again.
Super Dark Times was pretty good if a bit recyled. and the Girl on Third Floor really wasn't as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. And the best comment I've seen on Tumblr about that movie was Oh my God it's only 10 minutes into the movie and he's already fingering the house.!!! CM Punk at his dickish best!!
For found footage movies, it does not get any better than Horror in the High Desert. I actually had to go online and ask somebody is this a movie or did this actually happen?
Speaking of mock documentaries, even though I did not see this this past year it's been a while since I've seen it one movie that scared the absolutely living hell out of me is called The Nightmare and if you ever get a chance I think it is on both Prime and shutter go check it out I won't say anything else.
Out of everything I think the most fun scary movie I've seen so far is Mayhem plus it had Samara weaving who is my absolute favorite scream Queen of the new millennium.
Both mMayhem and nope features great Asian actors. And even though it is not a horror movie Honey Boy was..... a really really f***** up movie about the life of Shia LaBeouf. Even if you don't like him as an actor or maybe you've only like one or two of his movies really owe it to yourself to watch this movie because he had such a incredibly s***** childhood. Maybe not quite as bad as Corey Feldman but I think it's pretty much up there.

Combining his innate talent for storytelling with a passion for music, Gains delivers a collection of captivating tracks that showcase his multifaceted artistry.
Safe Haven is not only a musical endeavor worth celebrating but a testament to Gains' artistic evolution. Perhaps best known for his role as Malachi in the 1984 classic "Children of the Corn," Gains demonstrates a remarkable departure from that onscreen persona with Safe Haven, an album that blends stripped-down and straightforward rock vibes with folk-informed sensibilities.
The album is intimately Gains, with lyrics that give his sarcastic and darkly humorous take on today’s world. The singer-songwriter does not mince words when commenting on the inspiration for Safe Haven, “To me, this record is about calling bullshit on some things I think are really fucked up out there!”
Gains recently inked a deal with Fake Fangs Records, who will release Safe Haven on CD and digital formats on October 2. ● Media Inquiries: ClawHammer PR www.facebook.com/clawhammerpr
