HHP for Gran Torino?

Yet another honorable veteran who should've gotten a request when this tag began...

Due to his experience as a hero, Torino becomes a member of the Wondarian Bureau of Multiversal Rescue, as the Egret Chief, with a team of investigators, both specialized in internal and external affairs.

For safety and health reasons, he can't go on field missions with the Fighting Egrets; so he's a part of office businesses (helping on investigations with the informations gathered by the external affairs team).

His other duty is to teach newcomers the basics of flight acrobatics and maneuvers with his jet powers. He has a soft spot for the newbies, and may often joke with his façade of a senile and defenseless old man.

Overrall, Egret Chief Torino is a man who is firm yet fair on his newly-appointed duties. He also hopes to inspire someone to make a difference, like a true hero should.

Due to the tragedy, he has become a tad bit shameless, as he certainly will motivate the recruits to defy and dismantle any hurtful and selfish system. His only regret is that his time as a hero has passed; if he were younger, he'd certainly actively join them in rebellion. But alas... it's best to let the new generation handle this issue!

Lights Out 8: Rob Goss and High Horse Performance Build the World’s Quickest Gen III Hemi

There are easier paths to traverse in order to top the X275 world and running a Gen III Hemi powerplant certainly isn’t one of them. Just don’t tell that to Wyoming’s Rob Goss as he is pushing, shoving, and clawing his way to be the car to beat in the highly acclaimed small-tire competition. It has been a path wrought with destruction, but Goss refused to give up and High Horse Performance delivered as they qualified on top of the quickest X275 field ever during Lights Out 8 at South Georgia Motorsports Park with a 4.380 at 164.53 mph. The 2009 Challenger Drag Pak is just a tick off the all-time X275 ET record, and HHP’s Bruce Maichle reveals they are chasing after it hard. If things continue to improve, the record could be theirs before summer.

The journey began in 2010 when HHP built a 750rwhp Challenger for Goss for a street whip. Prowling the streets was fun, but Goss yearned for a quicker pace and dialed up his friends at HHP to ask what it would take to build a dedicated drag car. The rest as they is history as a 2009 Challenger Drag Pak (Serial-Number 33) went under the knife for its conversion from an NHRA-legal Stocker to a small-tire monster. Rhodes Custom Auto did the initial build as he slung a TRZ Motorsports 9-inch housing under the backside and a SFI 25.3 cage inside the cabin. The build from a roller to a turn-key racecar took three years and Goss and Maichle rolled out the wildest Challenger to hit the drag strip at No Mercy 4 in 2013.

Since that time, they’ve encountered heartbreak and glory as they battled broken engine blocks and other carnage on their way to dipping into the 4.30s with the ProCharger combination. In fact, Maichle says that with the ProCharger F-1X supercharger and in X275 trim, the 404ci engine from B.E.S. Racing produces around 2,000hp. For NMCA Street Outlaw competition, which is also an ultra-quick 275 radial based category, the engine cranks out 2,300hp with the larger ProCharger F-1X-12R head unit.

To harness that power is the job of a new cast aluminum engine block that is produced by Gen III Performance Parts. Goss’ hot rod was the test bed to prove it can handle anything anyone can throw at it, a task that not every block manufacturer can brag about. HHP added Thitek billet Gen III cylinder heads, which are offered exclusively through the shop.

Backing the potent Gen III Hemi is an ATF Speed Powerglide. Maichle acts as crew chief but he is quick to acknowledge two very valuable members of the team—Scott Clarke manipulates the Fuel Tech FT500 engine management system, and the Bruder Brothers, who have been an invaluable resource in tuning and combination consultation.

Last year B&B Race Cars updated the car for its new life in the 2,000-plus horsepower life. The noted chassis shop in Tennessee replaced the tin interior with carbon fiber and also added an assortment of new bars to help stiffen the chassis for the increased power in 2017. The large front-end is hiked up easier thanks to a pair of Santuff struts. The backside in enhanced with four-way adjustable Menscer Motorsports coil-overs. The rear wheels were also upgrade to double bead-lock configuration thanks to Mac-Fab.

It has been a long road for Goss, who couldn’t even make it down the track at his first taste of national competition in 2013. Now, he claimed three straight X275 number one qualifiers at the Lights Out/No Mercy brand of competition. But those are just beginning with reliability and power and a focus to go even quicker.
