no so the thing is mac and cheese is a cheap boxed meal thats really popular with middle to low income families. you get the dried macaroni and a packet of powder in a box, and all you have to do is boil/add milk. pretty much everyone here was served it at some point as a kid, it takes like twenty minutes top to make. (boxed/canned meals in general are a really big thing in the US and i always forget that other countries dont have that same stored food culture)

if you go to a nice restaurant and order mac and cheese its actually good because it isnt powdered cheese sauce, but also i dont like cheesy stuff in general so mac and cheese isnt a meal im a huge fan of. also pasta-oriented restaurants (im thinking olive garden but im sure others exist) have other dishes with cheese suace that arent macaroni based, but macaroni is iconic i literally dont even know what else youd eat it with
