do you think if it wasn't for zed, there'd be any universe in which she'd take the wig off? where she'd just be herself, her full self, & be fine with that? even if seabrook was still how it was? or do you think it'd take seabrook having to change before she'd ever even consider it?

so the thing about miss addison ... is that she needs to be catalyzed- it's for the sake of the narrative of the first movie happening of course, but it's also just- the truth of the matter. i don't think it necessarily needs to be zed, or falling for a zombie, someone Different and admittedly, Proudly so ... (until things shift and he sees reason to not want to be so much himself because again- narrative) but ... she needs Something to happen in her life to make her feel like being openly "Not Quite Right" is the right decision.

she stands up for what she believes in, but when the story begins, she punches first on instinct, asks questions later. even when she's just met the boy and likes him... she's the girl her parents raised. the one who keeps That One Thing down and away from the whole world.

obviously addison's change happens prior to the world around her changing in a meaningful way... she doesn't find acceptance from the people closest to her... she never has in any meaningful way, because she's been asked her entire life to hide what makes her strange and less than seabrook perfect prim and pastel. she's a good girl- but she'll never be exactly right because of her own biology.

i don't think seabrook has to change for addison to open her 'imperfections' perceived or otherwise to the world, because that's not what we see. but i do think she has to have Something happen in her life- exposure to something or someone... for her to be able to see that maybe she's not just Flawed in a completely unacceptable way. or that maybe it's okay that she is... that she can use that somehow instead of being ashamed and hidden away.

she's been kind of broken down and all of that, unfortunate though it may be, but... i do think she gets to that point of taking the wig off... but something has to happen. she doesn't get there living in the bubble wrap.

addison rosalind wells. cheerleader (head cheerleader, in fact). the supposed pride and joy of her mayor mother and police chief father. also the subject of their secret shame and intense scrutiny. she's the sweetest girl in all your classes. a good student with plans to get recruited to college for cheer. escaping the shadow of her impressive older cousin. has her eyes opened to the real world when she enters high school. sees injustice- finds herself in a place to try to help correct it. friend to outcasts and the popular jocks alike. a high school senior that like so many others- is very excited for graduation day- but even more excited for her opportunity to see what the world holds for her outside her supposedly perfect small suburban town.
