Winter Legacy Challenge
You’ve always hated the heat, as a kid you dreamed of snowy mountains and chilly air. But now, as a young adult, you're finally leaving your warm hometown behind to start fresh in the cold, serene peaks of Mt. Komorebi. With nothing but the winter landscape ahead, and ready to build a new life — a legacy — in the heart of the snow. Welcome to the Winter Legacy Challenge! Expansion packs you'll need: -- Snowy Escape. If you don't have snowy escape, but have seasons, this works fine too. It's okay to play through spring considering the weather conditions BUT you'll have to remember to enable testingcheats and change it back to winter once it becomes summer with seasons.set_season 2 -- Seasons Recommend packs, but BG alternatives provided: -- Outdoor Retreat -- Life and Death -- Spa Day Not needed, but nice for gameplay: -- Island Living -- Eco Lifestyle
Rules: -- You may use freerealestate for your first house, but after please refrain from using any other cheats while playing. -- Normal or Long lifespans. -- Careers are up to you, UNLESS stated otherwise. -- You need to complete each requisite (goals, and challenges for the generation. Aspirations if stated) before that sim dies. If they die before everything is completed, their heir must pick a goal or challenge to complete in honor of them. -- If they die before producing a heir, you fail. -- If a sim dies from freezing, their heir must honor them by building a small memorial or shrine. Gen 1: Winter Dreamer Backstory: Having spent their life in the desert, this Sim dreams of snow-covered landscapes. They’ve saved enough to move to a permanent winter wonderland. Snow brings them joy, and they dedicate themselves to creating a cozy, snow-loving life. Traits: Cheerful, Loves Outdoors, Family-Oriented Aspiration: Mt. Komorebi Sightseer Goals:
Complete your aspiration entirely.
ALWAYS Complete the Winterfest holiday tradition (decorate the tree, cook a holiday meal, etc).
Have a Hot Tub on your plot. (OR build a pool and add decorative rocks and greenery around it)
Collect all Sammies.
Challenge: Your Sim must spend 3+ hours outside daily, no matter the weather or their needs. (It can be making snow angels or exploring town, etc.)
Gen 2: Frostbitten Adventurer Backstory: Growing up surrounded by snow, this Sim craves adrenaline-fueled adventures. They embrace the wildness of winter, seeking thrilling experiences and surviving extreme conditions. Traits: Adventurous, Active, Self-Assured Aspiration: Extreme Sports Enthusiast Goals:
Master the Snowboarding skill.
Reach at least Rock Climbing level 5, to prepare for intense outdoor activities.
Woo a partner during a Festival of Snow or a snowy outing.
Challenge: Participate in at least three snowboarding, sledding, or skiing competitions—and win at least one before aging up.
Gen 3: Icy Artisan Backstory: Born into a family of survivors and adventurers, this Sim found solace in the beauty of the winter landscape and became a renowned artist known for their winter-themed works. Traits: Creative, Loves the Outdoors, Proper Aspiration: Painter Extraordinaire Goals:
Visit a National Park (via Outdoor Retreat pack) or build a homestead filled with outdoor elements.
Paint or take 8 winter-themed works (snowy forests, ice skating, festive winter scenes).
Embrace Winterfest as their favorite holiday, decorating the tree, and hosting festive gatherings.
Challenge: To make a living, they will rely only on their art—no regular jobs allowed. No thermostat can be used to heat the home this generation, use fireplaces or space heaters instead.
Gen 4: Frozen Royalty Backstory: This Sim believes they are the ruler of a frozen kingdom. Eccentric and ambitious, they build an empire to match their icy vision, complete with loyal subjects and a grand icy palace. Traits: Ambitious, Snob, Romantic Aspiration: Mansion Baron Goals:
Host at least two grand events each winter (Winter Balls, fancy dinners, or other social gatherings). These events must include 6+ guests, top-quality food, and gold-level rewards.
Have at least one child with Father Winter.
During the winter season, go ice skating. Max the skating skill. You are allowed to put them on your plot so you don't need to travel, if you have the funds and room. (There is one located somewhere in Mt. Komorebi, if you dont have Snowy Escape, travel to Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek during winter.)
Challenge: Your heir must inherit an heirloom and keep the ‘icy empire’ alive. (if you don't own life and Death, that’s okay, just pick something that stays with the heir until they die. It can be in their inventory or place somewhere in the lot.
Gen 5: The Eternal Winter Keeper? As the heir to a family built on the love for winter and it’s traditions, you’ve always known your role: to continue your ancestors’ mission of preserving the eternal frost. But as the years go on, you’ve begun to question your destiny. You long for warmth, sun, and freedom from the cold. The decision weighs heavily on your heart:
Will you stay loyal to your family and uphold their wintery legacy? Or will you break away and forge a new path, leaving snow behind for the warmth of tropical shores?
Path 1: Frozen Protector Backstory: For generations, your family has served as stewards of winter—a lineage entrusted with keeping the delicate balance between the icy season’s beauty and its unforgiving harshness. You’ve grown up knowing that, as the next heir, the title of Winter Keeper will one day fall on you. Will you prove yourself worthy of the mantle, or will winter lose its way in your hands?Traits: Loyal, Outgoing, Lovebug (If not possible, use Romantic)Aspiration: Successful Lineage Goals:
Befriend at least three Sims who are “winter aligned” (traits like Loves Outdoors, Loner, or Creative, etc) and strengthen your bond by doing winter-related activities together at least once a week with one of them. If you have Get together, make a club with outlines relating to cold or festive activities.
Find your soulmate in a winter setting (at a snow-covered lot or during a winter festival). Woo them with romantic gestures like snowball fights, outdoor stargazing, or ice skating. Have an outside wedding with them.
Ensure your child connects with winter traditions by maxing out a related skill before they become a young adult (e.g., Violin for haunting melodies, Charisma for storytelling, or Fitness for winter sports).
Challenge: Add at least one major improvement to the family’s estate if you haven’t already: build an outdoor skating rink, a winter conservatory, or a family mausoleum for past heirs.
Path 2: The Sun Seeker Backstory: You’ve always felt like an outsider in your family, your dreams of warmth clashing with their love for snow. After years of feeling stifled by the cold, you decide to take the boldest step of all: abandoning your family’s icy traditions and embracing a life of sun, freedom, and joy. But forging a new path is never easy, especially when your roots are steeped in frost. Traits: Child Of the Ocean, Outgoing, Foodie Aspiration: Beach Life (Angling Ace if you don't own IL) Goals:
Move to a tropical destination (preferably Sulani) and embrace the warm climate fully. Marry a local Sim and raise your family in the tropical paradise!
Max out the Fishing skill
Befriend the dolphins (Island Living) or form a club of locals to celebrate your new lifestyle.
Challenge: Abandon all winter traditions. You can never celebrate Winterfest again. You must create a new summer holiday, or host a big party every Summer.
If you decide to take part, let me know by using #TS4WinterLC in your post! I hope to start this challenge in the next few days and share my progress ^.^
If you’d like to read it on a different platform, here’s the google doc!
I hope you have fun, stay warm, and happy simming everyone! ☃️

part 12: baby came home
by: the neighborhood
Everything already had a slight, blurry haze as yn walked into Smalls. She’d pre-gamed of course, and now the whole band was here, back at the place where it all started.
Back where oikawa had thrown up on the cute bartender. Classic.
She giggles as she overhears kageyama complaining—him and akaashi got dragged along. The hum of the bar, the chatter of her friends, and the sticky floors all ease the tension in her chest.
“LET'S GET TO IT, LADIES!” bokuto yells, charging for the bar. akaashi shakes his head but follows, turning to the group, “Cut him off after three.”
kuroo, who’s been waiting to say this all night, grins wide. “Let’s go talk to that bartender, huh, oikawa? You talked a big game on the way here.”
oikawas swallows nervously, backing away. “That was kinda a hypothetical thing, you know, I wasn’t really—”
“You’re doing it,” kuroo says with a grin, pulling him along toward the bar.
The group breaks off, leaving yn, iwaizumi and kageyama together.
“This group is just too predictable,” Iwaizumi chuckles, throwing an arm around YN and pulling her into the crowd. He glances over his shoulder at Kageyama, “Want a drink, Kags?”
“I’m gonna have the bartender make one for me and tell her all about Oikawa,” kageyama says with a mischievous grin before disappearing into the crowd, heading to the bar.
“That kid kind of scares me sometimes,” YN mutters, half-joking.
“He’s evil, I’m telling you,” Iwaizumi laughs.
“Let’s gooo sitttt, Hajiiiii!” yn slurs, tapping his arm. “We need to catch up.”
“We didn’t talk for, like, only a week,” he responds, pinching her shoulder playfully. She flinches.
“A lot can happen in a week.” She flashes him that warm smile he loves- the way her eyes crinkle and her head tilts just slightly, always to the left. It always makes his heart skip a beat.
iwaizumi rolls his eyes but smiles. “Yeah, yeah, you win.”
He pulls her toward a booth, squeezing her shoulder tighter. Neither of them can help but wonder if the bar's AC has suddenly broken.
An hour and seventeen minutes later, kuroo somehow manages to convince everyone to play pool. bokuto is swinging the cue stick around like a weapon while kageyama dodges it, trying not to get his nose broken. akaashi is furrowing his brows in irritation, explaining to oikawa that ‘game pigeon 8-ball’ is nothing like actual pool. This commotion continues as iwaizumis turn comes up. He squints at the ball, tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth. He focuses, eyes narrowig as he lines up the shot.
He flicks his eyes toward yn for a split second before shooting the stick forward. He misses. Frustrated, he slams the cue stick against the felt.
“This game is fucking stupid, Kuroo,” he mutters, sliding to the other side of the table to make room for Kageyama.
yn laughs, her voice light. “You’d be beating everyone’s ass at 8-ball right now.”
“Yeah, because I cheat and use the screenshot ruler,” he teases, nudging her side.
“I’m gonna get a drink,” yn says, pushing herself off the pool table and heading across the bar to order a refill.
She leans against the counter, arms folded, watching the bartender juggle orders. A strange sense of deja vu washes over her—like she’s been in this exact moment before. But before she can place it, a familiar voice cuts through the noise and does it for her.
“Hey, YN.”
Her heart drops. She doesn’t need to turn around to know that pair of gray eyes is burning through her skull , but she does anyway.
“osamu,” she says, her voice faltering slightly as she forces a smile.
He cocks his head, his voice laced with bitterness, “Haven’t heard from you in a minute. Where ya been?”
yn forces herself to look him in the eye. Her green eyes clash with his dull gray ones, and she feels a chill run down her neck.
“Just been busy,” she says, fidgeting with her nails, dancing around the ghost between them.
He tilts his head up, scanning her, before glancing at her friends laughing at the pool table.
“Looks like you’ve rebuilt some bridges,” he scoffs, a slight edge to his tone.
yn inhales sharply, keeping her voice steady. “Yeah, the band’s important to me... so, this whole thing?” She shakes her head, “It’s just not gonna work out.”
osamu makes a ‘tch’ sound, narrowing his eyes. “They didn’t seem so important when you ditched them.”
yn mirrors his gaze, her voice cold. “Clouded judgment, I guess.” She’s playing with fire, but she can’t help but throw back her own flames.
osamu steps closer, and she feels her breath hitch. He smirks, leaning in. “You’re gonna regret that, you kn-”
Before he can say anything else, iwaizumis hand grips the back of his shirt, tugging him backward. yn takes a step back, her spine hitting the bar as she watches iwaizumi shove him—then punch him square in the fucking nose.
osamu collapses to the floor, and iwaizumis already on top of him, fist digging into his face. yn watches in a mixture of shock and panic as osamu claws at iwaizumi’s face, desperately trying to get in whatever damage he can. kageyama and bokuto are immediately on the scene, quickly pulling iwaizumi off, shouting at him to calm the hell down.
“What the hell’s wrong with you, ya damn psycho!” osamu spits, blood dripping from his nose, his face twisted in anger as he slowly gets up with help from a random witness.
iwaizumi swings an arm free, pointing at osamus chest. “Stay the fuck away from her, you hear me?”
iwaizumi doesn’t say another word before his friends start dragging him away, the crowd murmuring about calling the cops.
The cold night air hits the group as they spill out onto the street. They all stand there, panting from the chaos and adrenaline inside. iwaizumi wipes the blood from his knuckles onto his cargo pants, muttering curses under his breath.
It’s quiet. Nobody knows what to say-nobody except yn, that is.
She’s trying to stifle her laugh, but the noise still escapes out of her mouth, and the group looks over in shock.
“Are you fucking laughing?” iwaizumi scoffs, eyes wide as he winces at the slice on his cheek.
“I’m sorry, I really-“ yn laughs again, covering her mouth. “He just- he looked like he was about to cry- and your face was sooo fucking red-“
kuroo turns away, his head in his hands, trying not to lose it. But it’s already too late. bokuto and kageyama are giggling like mad, and oikawa and akaashi can’t stop chuckling either. The laughter suddenly becomes contagious, and nobody can seem to shut the fuck up.
iwaizumi shakes his head as everyone laughs around him, and he finally starts to crack too. His knuckles sting, his head’s throbbing, but he can’t help it.
They’re all leaning on each other, breathless from laughing so hard. He sighs in relief of the tense interaction and turns to yn. He pulls her in , his arm wrapping around her neck as he rests his chin on the top of her hair.
“You good?” he asks, smiling like he can’t believe this is even a real situation right now.
yn giggles lightly, her voice breathy. “Yeah, I’m alright. Are you?”
iwaizumi winces as his cheek throbs and blood smears on his hands, but as he looks around at his friends and at her, he feels better than he has in a long time.
“Never better.”
more!
while this fight broke out oikawa was at the bar finally rizzing up the bartender and he was like hahha oh shit bar fight and they were laughing and this face went dead and he went oh fuck thats iwaizumi and he ran over yelling CALL MEEE LATER

Take Me Back To Eden- Venable x Reader- Chapter 1
I feel bad that I haven't given you updates to my other stories, so here's the first chapter to a fic I've been working on for over a year (it's going to be like 35 chapters long, so bear with me plz).
(Also I know this is my second fic with this song title, let me have it)
Enjoy!
Words: 2.4k
Warnings: Mentions of sexual acts, language, blatant misogony, mentions of drugs and drug use. I think that's it????
You should’ve won.
It was a bet, a stupid bet to make your coworkers shut the fuck up about your boss. You were good at pool, you thought you had it in the bag, and you did, right up until your opponent bumped the table during your shot, and you sunk the 8-ball. You accused him of cheating, he accused you of being too much of a pussy to hold up your end of the bargain. A deal’s a deal.
It was some kind of twisted fate that the object of your disagreement would walk through the door only a few moments later, a scowl on her face as she spotted you all, brushing past the lot of you and sitting down at the bar.
“Look who it is.” Your coworker, Nate, laughed, “Time to pony up, princess”
You rolled your eyes, “This is cruel and unusual punishment.”
“For you or her?” Another, Scott, asked.
“You haven’t been on the receiving end of Venable’s wrath yet,” Nate said, “But you’re about to.”
“Not likely.” You sneered, “I’m not stupid enough to code the firmware update in java instead of python, unlike some people.”
“I was a rookie.” Nate scoffed, “You’ve made it two years without being on the receiving end, it’s time you get baptized.”
You could hear the murmurs of the other men, a quiet chant.
One of us, one of us…
“Maybe because I’m actually competent.” You fired back.
“Well, competent or not, nothing is going to save you from this.” Scott chuckled, “Might as well rip off the band aid and get’er done.”
Oh yeah, you were definitely about to be fired.
“Who knows, maybe she’s really into the bosses sleeping with their assistant’s thing. Might feed her fantasy.” Nate joked.
“Or yours.” You spit.
“Listen, as hot as lesbians are, if I ever start fantasizing about Venable getting her rocks off, please shoot me in the head.” Nate said seriously.
You downed your drink and turned on your heel, willing to do just about anything to get away from the current conversation. You knew what you had signed up for when you took this job, a staff of 95% men, all of whom hadn’t fucked a girl in at least 10 years and were proud members of the boy’s club, but you still didn’t want to subject yourself to their blatant misogyny any more than you had to.
Obviously, you weren’t going to do it. It was cruel and unnecessary, but you knew your colleagues well enough to understand that it had to at least be believable. You walked up next to her, making sure you were facing the group so they couldn’t see her face.
The bartender looked over at you, “Another round?”
“Yea, same thing.” You said, nodding in Venables direction, “And put whatever she’s having on my tab.”
Venable turned and glared at you, but you ignored it.
“Just this round?” The bartender asked.
“All of it.” You said, shaking your head, it was the least you could do after what you were about to put her through.
“Well, I guess it’s payment for forcing me to witness you traipsing around with those men like a whore.” Venable sneered.
“That’s a funny way of saying thank you.” You laughed, “There’s nothing wrong with grabbing a few drinks with colleagues. You should try it sometime.”
Venable scoffed, bringing her martini to her lips, “Workplace relationships are forbidden.”
You smirked, “Then I guess it’s a good thing I’m not into men.”
Venable sputtered around the rim of her glass; eyes wide as she choked on the burning liquid. You reached for your new drink, taking a sip as you winked at her and walked away.
“What happened?” Nate asked, “It sure didn’t take long.”
“Nothing, yet.” You said, “I walked away before she could give me an answer.”
“But the dare…” Scott interjected, but you were quick to cut him off.
“The dare was to ask her on a date, which I did.” You retorted, “No one said anything about her giving me an answer.”
“But she has to give you an answer, that’s how this works.” Nate said, and you shushed him.
“Cool your jets.” You groaned, “Getting someone to agree to a date is more like a game of chess than checkers. Good things take time.”
Nate and Scott laughed, “You are so getting fired on Monday.”
“Don’t I know it.” You mumbled over the rim of your glass.
In typical Venable fashion, you didn’t have to sit with it for long, a sticky note taped to your monitor on Monday morning for an eleven o’clock meeting. Working under Venable for as long as you had, you knew her habits. Meetings with clients were always first thing in the morning, before Jeff and Mutt had enough time to sniff themselves into a stupor. Staff meetings were after scheduled hours or during lunch, unpaid, of course. The eleven o’clock time slot lived in infamy, it was right before lunch, giving you just enough time to pack your things and do the walk of shame as everyone walked back through the doors. Clearly a genius move, or one of an absolute psychopath.
“What the fuck was that?” Venable sneered before you were even able to fully shut the door.
You pushed the door the rest of the way closed, “What was what?”
“At the bar.” Venable said, rolling her eyes, “Don’t tell me the alcohol killed what little brain cells you have left. I should fire you for speaking to me that way.”
You shrugged, “So fire me.”
Venable sighed, her words biting, “I don’t want to fire you. I want an explanation.”
That was a lie, she absolutely wanted to fire you, and she probably would have, if you hadn’t overheard that Jeff and Mutt were considering placing her on a firing freeze. She had hit an all-time record, canning 17 employees in the span of two weeks, and now she was doing damage control. But she didn’t know that you knew, and you weren’t going to let her figure that out. A loss of control was seen as weakness to Venable, and if she found out that you knew, nothing Jeff and Mutt could bring down would stop her from getting rid of you.
You shook your head, “It’s better if you don’t know.”
Venable grit her teeth, her nails digging into the soft wood of her desk, “I asked a question, I expect an answer.”
You threw your hands up, “I lost a game of pool.”
Venable cocked her head, very slightly, and chewed on her words, “You… lost a game of pool?”
“Yes.” You said, hoping if you danced around the topic enough, she would eventually get bored and leave it alone, or just assume you were too stupid to get any viable information out of.
Venable’s eyes raked over you, before zeroing in on some invisible crack in your armor, “And?”
“And?” You asked, trying to play dumb.
“I assume there’s more to the story, given the way your feet are dancing like you’re stepping on red hot coals.” Venable said, eyes following yours towards your feet, “Spit it out. I don’t have all day.”
You chewed on the inside of your cheek, “We bet on the game. I lost the game, so I had to hold up my end of the deal.”
“Which was?” Venable asked, growing tired of your antics.
You sighed, “To ask you on a date.”
Venable cocked her head to the side, studying you for a moment, “You didn’t ask me on a date.” You nodded, “So then you didn’t hold up your end of the deal.”
You nodded again. “I’m not going to ask someone out for a dare, its cruel and juvenile. I just needed them,” You said, motioning to the row of desks opposite the frosted glass walls, “To think I did.”
“You risked your job,” Venable sneered, “For a childish dare?”
“Actually,” You began, cocking your head and smirking, “I risked my job so I wouldn’t have to do the dare. Men are stupid, and extremely gullible.”
Venable’s eyes narrowed, “Why would they dare you to ask me out?”
You rolled your eyes, “Because they’re intimidated by strong women, and they wanted to humiliate you.”
She pursed her lips, “Flattery will get you nowhere.”
“It isn’t flattery,” you chuckled, “You scare the shit out of them.” Venable tried her best to fight the smirk on her lips, but you still caught it, and you thought you should get out while you were ahead, “Now, am I fired, or can I get back to work?”
Venable looked confused, “I haven’t assigned you anything.”
“Jeff and Mutt want me to work on their “super-secret project”. ” You said, rolling your eyes and making air quotes with your fingers, “I have to go through security clearances.”
“Why would they need you?” Venable asked, her voice dripping in condescension. While it wasn’t unusual for Jeff and Mutt to borrow her employees, it wasn’t typical to borrow assistants, and certainly not on a project so secret that even she was being kept out of the loop.
You shrugged, “Your guess is as good as mine.”
“Very well. You are excused.” Venable said, her face setting. “And Y/n?” You turned, looking back at your boss, “Don’t let it happen again. Next time, you’ll be lucky to be a dishwasher at McDonalds.”
You smirked, “McDonalds doesn’t have a dishwasher, but I get the sentiment.”
Venable rolled her eyes as you shut the door, cursing Jeff and Mutt for putting her in this position. Had she been able to do what she wanted, you never would have felt comfortable enough to make such a statement, let alone challenge her. She didn’t have too much time to dwell on it, the most recent delivery of a certain white substance being delivered straight to her office, and she knew the boys were already itching to reup on their dose.
“The woman of the hour!” Jeff yelled, fist pumping the air as he spotted the giant jar firmly planted in her arm, “Have I told you I loved you lately?”
“Save it.” Venable sneered, dodging his grabby hands and keeping the cocaine just out of reach, “What’s going on with this secret project?”
“Nothing you need to worry your fiery little head with.” Mutt said, “Just know it’s going, full steam ahead.”
“How can I manage it if I don’t know what it is?” Venable asked.
“You aren’t managing it.” Jeff said, “We are.”
“You two,” Venable said carefully, “Are managing it, all on your own?”
Mutt laughed, “Yeah, it’s going to be fucking sick.”
“So why are you stealing my employee?” Venable asked, the two engineers sharing glances.
“We need her skillset.” Mutt finally answered, obviously dragging his feet.
“She’s an assistant.” Venable stated.
“Yeah,” Jeff said, “She’s also an engineer, and she’s not bad to look at.”
Venable scoffed, “You’re stealing my employee because she’s attractive?”
“No, were stealing her because we need her brain.” Mutt said, “The fact that she’s a babe is just a bonus.”
“So, you aren’t going to tell me anything?” Venable asked, Jeff and Mutt staring back at her.
“It’s not that we want to not tell you anything, we just can’t.” Jeff offered apologetically, conveniently reaching for the cocaine at the same time with pleading eyes.
Venable huffed, swinging the cocaine out of his reach at the last second, and placing it on the farthest table as she stomped out of the room, ignoring the string of apologies from her bosses. This just wouldn’t do. She had always been in the loop, from day one. Those idiots couldn’t be trusted to run an entire project by themselves, they could barely remember their own addresses. Quite literally, Venable was the one who had to give the addresses to their cab drivers because they were too blitzed to form a coherent thought. She sat and she stewed for the remainder of the day, before she settled on a plan. She was tired of being on the outs, she needed to regain her power.
When you got the message on teams, you worried she had changed her mind, and you felt your palms begin to sweat.
My office. Now.
You trudged past your coworkers and towards her office, Nate and Scott snickering behind you.
“Someone’s in trouble.”
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help but feel like they were right. She was playing with you, the same way she did to every other employee, making you feel safe and then yanking the carpet out from beneath you. Still, you opened the door and stepped into her den, her eyes flicking over you for only a second, “Close the door.”
You shut the door behind you, asking hesitantly, “What can I do for you, Miss Venable?”
Venable didn’t even look up, “It’s more so what I can do for you.”
“Pardon?” You asked, unsure of the direction this conversation was heading, and there was no way you could prepare for the words about to leave her mouth.
“I’ll speak in plain terms so that you understand.” Venable sneered, “I’ll let you fulfill your little dare, and in turn, you give me information on whatever it is that Jeff and Mutt are stealing you for.”
“The project?” You asked, your head spinning.
Venable sighed, glaring at you, “Is there anything else they are stealing you for?”
“No?” You said, shaking your head, “But why would you need me to gather information?”
Venable rolled her eyes, “Jeff and Mutt have decided they will be handling it themselves; they don’t want a grownup’s help. I need to make sure they don’t royally fuck it up. I’ve spent far too long building a reputation for this company, I don’t need them snorting it away. Now do we have a deal, or will you be looking for a new position?”
You shook your head, still unable to process what she was asking of you, “You do realize they’re only doing this so they can make fun of you, right?”
Venable arched a brow, “I’ve never cared about men’s opinions before. Why start now?”
“Yea, but, those coconut heads design sex robots.” You tried again, “For all I know, they could want me to code for a doll that gives head.”
Venable stared at you, clearly annoyed with the conversation, “You have a week to gather as much information as you can. That will be all.”
You stared at her as she refocused on her work, completely ignoring your lingering presence, before you shook your head incredulously, “Ok.”
You couldn’t keep the smile off your face as you left her office, beelining straight for Nate’s desk and whispering in his ear, “Just to be clear, you’re my bitch now.”

The Pomegranate Tree [sdv Elliott x male farmer oc] Part Four: The Dandilion
ao3 version
Masterlist | First | Next
There was a part of Hazel that made an effort to look at bartenders and baristas as they worked. It was his favorite form of people watching. A girl with cropped blue hair and a red dress looked completely focused on her work. Cooking the food, filling drinks, running around the kitchen. Her movement was swift, with the appropriate amount of rush. Fast, but not overwhelming. The job seemed enjoyable. The blue-haired girl slid what seemed to be her tenth beer to an older woman with fluffy blonde curls.
The saloon was filled with strangers. Some he knew, such as Lewis and Robin. Robin could be seen in the distance dancing with what he assumed to be a husband or partner. The rest were all strangers. This seemed like the perfect time to get to know everyone.
At the same time, it was all so overwhelming. Hazel made his way to a corner, next to a man seemingly in his late 20s, a scratchy beard stained with alcohol.
"Hi-"
"I don't know you. Why are you talking to me?" The expression on the strangers face seemed more confused than mean. As if he genuinely didn't know why a total stranger would go up to him and introduce himself. And you know what, he had a point. It was hard to guess whether or not each person actually wanted to be approached. It was a thought that made him not want to approach people at all. Alas, he needed friends. This was his chance.
"Ah. I'm sorry."
The forward stranger returned to his drink, blocking out Hazel. He made a mental note not to approach anyone alone with a beer. A social rule he learned a moment too late. Instead, he made his way over to a pool table. Three kids appeared to be teenagers, but each had a fruity looking drink. Either they each had a fake-ID, which would be hard to get away with in a small town where everyone knows everyone, or they were really of age.
The kid with fluffy blond hair tosses his stick to the side in agony, feigned or not. A boy across from him with violet hair, dark enough to almost look black, smirks as an 8-ball is tapped into the proper hole. A girl with bright purple hair sitting on the couch doesn't seem to care about the other's victory.
"The new farmer!" The girl springs up from the couch, sitting up straight rather than having her feet at the arms of the couch as it was before. Her cherry cocktail was gently placed on the table beside her. "Hazel, is it?"
"Hazel," he confirmed.
"Hazel. Help me." The blond pushes a pool stick into the other's hand. "Two against one. It's fair because he is too good."
"You know most people introduce themselves before begging for help," the other boy says. He meets Hazel's eyes. "Hey. I'm Sebastian. This is my fifth time in a row winning."
"Makes sense."
"And...?" Sebastian waits for the other to introduce himself.
"Sam."
"And Abby," the girl with purple hair chimes in as well. "Abi gail . But just Abby, please." She gets up from the couch, pulling all the balls from the table and setting them up in a triangular form. "If I don't do this part, whoever does is accused of cheating."
The smirk on Sebastian's face returns as Abby backs away.
"Loser goes first," he says.
Living in a big city with a lot of bars, pool was a secret talent of the new farmer. Slowly but surely, his coordination got better as he went on. But really, he was more like Sam. Losing each time. The secret is simply not to care and have a good time whoever wins. Sometimes, losing means you get to laugh at yourself.
Sam manages to strike the white ball, hitting some of the balls on the right and sending them in random directions. Hazel manages to strike the middle, allowing for a more even spread of the balls.
Sebastian strikes a solid colored ball into one of the holes. Sam grows frustrated once again. He attempted to strike a striped ball, missing and knocking one of the solid colored ones into a hole.
As Hazel made his way around the table, he looked up to find the whole crowd of the bar once again. People dancing, chatting, having fun.
In the distance was Elliott.
Talking to a girl.
Of course he is straight, why wouldn't he be? He's charming enough to already be taken, by a girl who appears to be perfect for him. A female version of him. The same orange-blonde hair, only hers was twisted into a side braid that she played with as she talked to the other.
Oh, to be rejected by someone one hadn't even got to know yet.
"Hazel?"
"Yeah, sorry."
Hazel managed to strike a striped ball into the table.
★
There again, was the stranger. He faced the ocean, a red trench coat and flowing orange-blond hair the only thing visible to the farmer.
Frantically, Hazel searched his bag for something to give to the other. Wood, stone, dandelions. Field snacks, tools. Fuck.
Maybe the stranger appreciated the beauty of flowers. For some reason, women seemed to be the only ones who did. Nervously, Hazel clenched the dandelions, took a breath, and approached.
"Hey."
"Farmer Hazel!" There was a strangely off putting tone in the man's voice. Excited. In a way that seemed too good to be true. Hazel swallowed the thought, hoping all of that excitement was genuine.
"Hey," Hazel said again. "I remembered you from earlier, and..." The dandelion, slightly crumpled from Hazel's nervous grip, was moved from his pocket to in front of him, the flower between the two of them. "I got you this."
Elliott's expression changed. An odd mix of confusion and disappointment. It felt like he saw the dandelion as a rejection, unsure of how to respond to it.
"It's... a weed." Hazel had finally realized what he had just done. The dandelion was an insult.
"Oh... I thought it was a flower." Elliott finally let out a nervous laugh. Hazel, still stunned that someone doesn't like flowers, did the same. Penny liked it, why not him?
"I'm sorry, I suppose that was a rather rude response," Elliott said. "I appreciate it, really. But uh, here." Elliott reached into his own pocket and pulled out a crumpled up paper. “I found this. I don't know who wrote it, or why they know what I like this well, but it's pretty accurate."
The note was placed into Hazel's hands. Scratchy handwriting wrote about each of the single men in the town and their interests. How to get to each of their hearts.
"There are only a few 'older' bachelors in town, and none of them are perfect! Harvey is really anxious and weak, but I know he would make a loyal and devoted husband. He likes coffee and pickles.
Elliott is a bit foppish and melodramatic, but he does have a nice chin. He likes crab cakes and pomegranates.
Shane is messy and anti-social. But I think his gruff exterior is a defense mechanism, insulating his softness from the world. He likes Beer, Pizza, and Pepper Poppers."
"Foppish and melodramatic, huh?"
"The things I enjoy are the parts that's accurate. The rest is a matter of opinion." Elliott nervously pinched the skin of his chin between his fingers. "I like to take care of my appearance." He began to mumble to himself. "I hope my chin isn't that big."
"It's a nice feature," Hazel said.
He looked up at the ladder, and sure enough, he did have a nice face. Typically, a chin isn't what one looks at the most when looking at a person. It made a part of Hazel want to draw the other.
"I'm sorry. About the dandelion." Elliott twisted the flower- no, the weed- in his hand, and nervously smiled.
"It's okay. It's the thought that counts." A smile grew on each of their faces as they went separate ways once again.
