Fabric shopping in Walthamstow.

My favourite place to go fabric shopping is Walthamstow. In the past I have gone to local shops or markets for fabric, but local market stalls have disappeared and shops have got so expensive. Through other sewers online I discovered firstly Goldhawk road and couldn’t believe how many fabric shops were there, but then Walthamstow.

It takes a bit over an hour from where I live to get there, but it’s worth it and now I make a trip probably every 6 months ish and stick up!

I intended to take some pictures of my favourite shops, but got distracted by buying fabric! Oops.

But I can tell you there is a fabric stall in the middle of the street which has some great fabric, I bought a nice grey bird print jeredey this time and a blue cord last time only a few pins a metre.

The Textile Centre is another one I love, nice modern fabrics, some good bargains, a mix of woven and stretch fabrics. Got a nice floral jersey for £1.10 per metre (I do love a bargain!!) Some cute camera novelty print in a woven fabric for the same price. I also got a beautiful turquoise bird print for £1.65 per metre.

There’s another shop I really like that has lots of rolls of fabric just all leaning against the walls where you can get some nice fabrics, everthing I bought in there cost £2 per metre.

But there are lots of other shops definitly worth going into, got some stretch white striped fabric for 50p per metre!! Also went all out and got some white eyelet for £6 per metre, nearly even got a piece of white lace with pearls for £8 per metre, but after all the bargains that felt a little too expensive! Crazy.

Anyway to sum up I love fabric shopping there. I came away with bags full of fabric (oh and thread, there’s a couple of little haberdashery shops, sometimes they lack prices which always scares me, but just ask, seems that everything is a bargain, massive reels of thread for £1 and zips are so cheap too, l mean really cheap, like 25p or something crazy for an 18 inch invisible zip!!) And after a day of shopping and lunch of course, I had arm ache, but a nice stash of fabric and lots of ideas buzzing in my head, watch this space and I’m sure you’ll see a few of them.

Fashion Wish List

Going thrifting and shopping with a friend today. Here are a few things on my wish list!

1: Brown knee high riding boots

2: Rain coat, preferbly yellow!

3: Cardigans! Because you can never have too many!

4: Trench Coat. Just something classic and simple. Though I do LOVE wearing all kinds of coats!

5: TIGHTS! I love wearing tights, with anything, ripped up jeans, short shorts, skirts, dresses, anything, just never by themselves, ugh!

6: Audrey Hepburn inspired skinny black pants

7: I also want a couple of slouchy dresses in solid colors, something I can throw on with a belt and boots and mix it up with all the pretty tights!
