Thank you, thank you, devout followers of the Lord and my sweet ass.
Thank you for joining me today in this holy sermon.
You know, it takes a lot of work putting together this whole church thing, but oh, we manage.
And a lot of it is thanks to your help.
You’ll see now that a basket is being passed around amongst you.
If you could, anything you can spare really helps a lot.
The local meth cartel, which we are completely allied with and without whom we could not run this service- I'm high right now.
Please. Drugs aren’t cheap.
And criminals work very hard. I work very hard.
Reach deep into your hearts and deeper into your wallets and find Christ in meth.
Do drugs and hurt people.

The Icon of Eönwë- TRSB Process Post
See the promo post here!
Above the cut is a relatively brief explanation of symbolism, design choices, and everything re: the text. Under the cut is the full (long) story of how I managed to create my magnum opus, + process pics!
Very early in my days as a Silm fan I read a silly summary of the Silmarillion and in the summary of the maiar I somehow completely misread it as saying Eönwë had indigo skin and my Eönwë has been blue ever since. The bird characteristics followed naturally from his service to Manwë, though I kept him fairly humanoid because I imagine as herald he interacts more with Incarnates than other Maiar.
His hair and the color of his wings mostly stemmed from my vague annoyance that he's rarely depicted in a "traditionally (religiously) angelic" way, so I gave him the features of the angels in my church. Floofy hair and golden brown-red-blue wings. The armor and clothing followed from this, with the bonus of the scale armor continuing the feather motif.
The ruby on the sword pommel is there because there was no other red in the composition besides the wings and it looked unbalanced. This icon was painted prior to the War of Wrath, so it isn't necessarily Manwë's sword that he uses during it.
The position his hand is in is a priest's blessing, though people in the @tolkienrsb discord mentioned it reminded them of Buddhist hand forms as well. Interpret it however you will within the meaning of "Peace be unto all".
The Sarati was deliberately chosen as the older form of writing, to be more traditional, and the words are Valarin as I think suits a religious artifact. The transcription reads:
Mayâz Manal Iȝônowêz (Maia-holy Eönwë -> Holy Maia Eönwë) Akesa Baradâš Mânawenûz-iyôz (Voice-raised/high Manwë-of -> High Voice [Herald] of Manwë)
It all started last March, when (instead of doing all the overdue assignments I should have been working on) I decided to draw Eönwë for no particular reason. I further decided that I was going to draw him in the style of Eastern Orthodox/Byzantine icons, because the style is unique, thematically relevant, and frankly very underutilized in fanart (I would soon learn why that is).
(I also found it funny to draw a character made by Tolkien- devoted Catholic- in the Orthodox style.)
I kinda-good-enough finished it over spring break, desperately ignoring the sword and the wings, and was reminded of the existence of TRSB. I wanted to participate, knew I wouldn't have the energy to write, and had no other art in a good enough state to submit. I've long wanted to explore the weirdness of religion in Arda, and this was the perfect opportunity.
The lovely @goschatewabn claimed my sketch and I was off! And then I wasn't.
I decided that there was no way to do my vision justice without painting it, that my cheap sketchbook would not hold up to that, and that I would rather stab myself than transfer the drawing to a canvas.
"Hmm" I thought, "Icons are traditionally painted on wood. Maybe I should get a piece of wood from the neighborhood workshop, cut out the sketch, and glue it on there to paint."
"That's a brilliant idea, me," I thought, "But what about the wings (which you haven't drawn) and the sword (which you haven't drawn)?"
"I'm in denial," I thought, "So please shut up. That's a problem for future me."
("Fuck you," thinks future me, repeatedly and with great vigor, ever increasing in wrath as I must spend ~20 hours sketching out and then painting the wings before I do anything I actually want to do because I need to glue Eönwë down over them.)
The wood is successfully found, cut to size (shout out my father for his help), sanded, and conditioned over the course of an afternoon. White acrylic paint and modpodge are obtained from the craft store (shout out my mother for going, I asked for gesso but they didn't have any), and the wood is generously modpodged to seal it because I didn't want to shell out the money for sealant.
See above for my suffering re: wings. I wanted to violently destroy every art supply in the house rather than go through sketching the individual feathers. I bravely restrained myself, and allowed myself the brief reprieve of figuring out how to do the halo.
Not wanting to buy gold acrylic paint, and with my metallic markers working poorly on the wood, I came to the solution of mixing mica powder (that my sister had in excess from her slime-making phase) mixed with modpodge. The result is very very golden and shiny and exactly what I was looking for, though it's difficult to get an even and smooth consistency.
"Hmm," I thought, as I cut out my sketch and glued it down, "maybe it would be a good idea to sketch out the sword now, before I start painting,"
"I'm in denial", I thought, "And besides, we just suffered through doing the wings. We deserve a little break. That's a problem for future me."
("Fuck you," thinks future me, repeatedly and with increasing desperation and devastation as I must sketch out a decent looking sword, fold it to cut it out to be symmetrical, and line it up with his hand so I can perfectly cut out a section of the handle, and the two pieces must then be glued on perfectly.")
It's now relevant to mention that traditionally, icons are painted dark to light. Symbolically this represents the triumph of good over sin, etc, but practically this is a key to the style, as the previous layers build up undertones and also allows for the signature shading style. It also takes much more work to build up a good color, even using fairly decent paint.
(What brand, you ask? Well it came in an art kit I got when I was like 15 and forgot about until the start of the summer. So no idea.)
Was it worth the work? Yes. The final piece looks cool as hell (Valinor?). Am I mad about it? Also yes.
Painting the individual scales of the armor was an exercise in patience and withstanding torture for extended periods of time. It was done over the course of three days, totaling around 10 hours. I mixed mica into the paints and then sealed it with a less intense mica-modpodge mixture, which is very difficult to appreciate in photo but looks fantastic irl.
The clothes were difficult because I had to work with a different style than I had been. Feathers are typically rendered in a more graphic style, as in my piece, and while hair is usually shaded more typically I found a few examples of this style, and the armor was similar. But now I had to do folds and actual shading, which is very difficult when you have a large area and very fast-drying acrylic. On the other hand, I was finally free of all the golds, browns, and yellows. I was so sick of them by then.
(The way I got around the fast-drying on the palette was by DIYing a wet palette. They're magical. You just stick wet paper towels in a tupperware and cover them with a layer or two of parchment paper (or wax paper in a pinch, although I poked some holes on the bottom layer because it's more water-resistant) and it will keep the paint wet for ages- even for a few weeks in my case with the lid on.)
It's at this point that progress halted because I had to pack for returning to college, and get a tattoo, and get horribly sick with a headcold, not in that order. My event partner was very patient with me, which I appreciate more than I can say. Once I was settled in to my new environment, though, I got right back to working
The skin was not extremely difficult to paint in and of itself (the shading and color mixing was fairly straightforward), but all the tiny, finicky details were very stress inducing. I used a teeny tiny nail art brush for details, and even that felt too big at some points (cough EARS AI VALAR THE EARS WERE SO HARD cough). Going around all the tiny feathers on the face and ears was an exercise in holding my breath and using every possible technique to steady my hands. Getting the hand right was also difficult, but fortunately they already look weird in the style, so it was just a matter of making them look weird in a deliberate-looking way.
Besides the text (and last-minute inclusion of the ruby in the pommel- I woke up and decided it needed the contrast) the eyes were the last thing I painted. It felt fitting. I poured my blood (achey back+hands+legs) sweat (I sanded the wood outside on a very hot afternoon) and tears (stress) into him, and in return on this 9"x13"x1/3" sheet of wood he came alive for me, and hopefully for you too. He isn't perfect, there are a few things that in retrospect I would've done differently, but he's the best I've got. I hope I did the High-Voice of Manwë justice.

If The Outlaws Had YouTube Channels (Part 3)
LADY GABBY • Gabby started her channel a few weeks after her Instagram started to pick up, as anyone does, and started advertising her channel through her other socials, gaining it some leverage on the platform. • She posts anything and everything she feels like, when she wants, when she thinks of it. Anything from positivity videos, to life updates and storytimes, to make-up tutorials, all of which have a very successful view count. • She's livestreamed on the platform a few times, most often for charity streams and drumming up support for sponsors or organisations, but rarely does these out of her own free will, as she prefers the live options of Instagram and TikTok. • After moving in with Greg, he was in more and more of her videos, and it's painfully obvious that a lot of the time he was not made aware of this fact before Gabby started reocording. He tries his best to make it work, though - anything for his best friend, and Gabby appreciates the gesture (the Q&As are especially fun!). • Gabby's subscriber count rapidly increases all the time, but now stands at around 1.8 million; a lot of which came over from her Instagram to get more content. • She does find herself getting hate comments from time to time, and in th past would've dwelled on them, but now in an attempt to better herself, tries to ignore or delete them. She tries to like a lot of the positive comments she recieves, but if Greg has commented on a video, you know it's getting pinned - he's become somewhat of a channel highlight.
GREG • Greg did not want to start a YouTube channel. "I don't really want my face out there," he explains, only for Spencer to refute, "I'm sure a lot of people also don't." • In the end, he was pressured into it - no, not by Gabby, but by Spencer, who was hoping to get a few cheap laughs out of Greg making a fool of himself and potentially going viral for it. More Greg content is more Greg content, after all. • He eventually decided it could be somewhat therapeutic to just talk to the camera sometimes, and get things out (and uploads these privately), and otherwise he makes little vlog-like videos of his and Gabby's outings, so they can have a record of the good times (these are usually more popular). • Greg does fairly well for himself at 2k subscribers, consisting of Gabby, Spencer and his alt account, Community Service friends, and majorly subscribers of Gabby's who also really like him. The number intimidates him quite a lot, though. So many people...
SPENCER • Spencer started his channel when YouTube was becoming popular, completely convinced that the up and coming platform would flop lifeless without his cool and suave presence... It would not have, but let him think what he wants to think, I suppose. • His early videos are mostly of him playing guitar and singing - the first of which was that old classic "Wonderwall", which he's sure people will love only because he's singing it this time. • As well as this, he eventually starts making videos talking about his cases but moreso events that have occured in real life, usually revolving around putting Greg down. • Whenever transcripts of Greg's cases become available, he gets his hands on them as soon as possible, and does a live reading and reaction, if you will, pointing out and teasing where Greg has gone wrong. He's basically just a Greg reaction channel that does singing on the side. • Spencer's channel is not as popular as he'd like it to be, and he chalks it down to the bad algorithm; he currently has 30 subscribers, and some of those are his alt accounts that he uses to anonymously comment on Greg's videos.

So while working on a drawing WIP of mine, I was watching a video from Drew Gooden on the Avatar Netflix adaption (note: I have never seen Avatar: the Last Airbender, and I don’t particularly plan to, either; I am just a fan of Drew Gooden’s videos and I like to learn about various series I will probably never and honestly have no desire to directly, personally interact with), and I think that he perfectly summed up in very short terms what I mean when I say that the Fifteen anime and manga are both poor adaptions of the original story.
[Transcript: “Now, before I continue getting mad about every single aspect of this show, I do wanna answer a more general question of like, ‘what should we expect out of an adaption?’ — because it may sound like I’m trying to say that this should have been a one-to-one recreation of the original show, when that is not the case.”
“You can, and should, be able to change things; why even bother spending all this money to make something that looks worse, if it’s going to be exactly the same? But, those changes need to enhance the story; they can’t be at odds with the spirit of the show, or fundamentally change a character.” /end Transcript]
While I still need to finish my article on Fifteen and its anime adaption, and later better address the manga, this is the point I want to hammer home to people who refuse to get the position I am coming from:
I am not saying that either the manga or the anime would be bad in and of themselves if they were wholly original stories, or that there is anything inherently wrong with adding content that was not in the original source material.
I am saying that they are bad at being adaptions; they are bad at representing the pre-existing story they are supposed to be telling in a new medium. While they could be perfectly fine and serviceable — if, in my opinion, far less compelling — stories if they were original content with no previous source material to adapt from, they are not that, and that is what makes them bad. They are horrible representations of the story they are trying to tell, and for an adaption there can be no greater failing than this.
The biggest changes that were made to both the anime and the manga do not enhance the story.
They do not fit the spirit of the source material.
The anime fundamentally changes a major character and re-writes an entire scene and major plot points in order to allow them to have an excuse for a few seconds of cheap fanservice for a popular pairing/character — which could have still been had in an even better way without mutilation in a different scene they actively decided to remove in order to save time that they completely squandered anyway.
The manga in certain crucial chapters takes visual creative liberties that do not at all fit the spirit, tone, or descriptions within the source material in order to play up a horror aspect that very simply was not intended to exist in the first place, and in doing so fundamentally alters important characterization, along with unnecessary and tone-altering tweaks to a few choice lines of dialogue.
An adaption should be just that: an adaption, not a re-imagining, not a re-telling, not a re-make; its job is to tell the story and elevate it as much as possible using the unique perks of the specific medium it is being brought into. For both anime and manga, this should have been done through the use of visuals (and in the case of the anime, movement, music, and voice acting) to bring the scenes described within the original source material to life and fill in the blanks based on the rest of the picture painted there, as well as expand on certain points and add to them using the spirit of the original story.
Both the anime and the manga have times when they prove that they can do such things quite well and quite efficiently, but then utterly fail to do at some of the points where it matters the very most, and that is why it can’t and shouldn’t be forgiven.
It is not a matter of not being one-to-one with the original with every scene, it is a matter of completely ignoring the most fundamental and important aspects of some of the very most crucial ones of those scenes in favor of “doing its own thing”, even if it means completely ignoring the points the original source material — and the adaption most closely worked on by the original creator (the stage plays) — tried to make.
#linklethehistorian#my thoughts#thoughts#bungou stray dogs#bsd#bsd novels#fifteen#bsd anime#bsd stage play#fifteen manga#fifteen stage play#season 3#bsd arthur rimbaud#randou#I know I’m talking to a wall but seriously people need to realize that adaptions are supposed to be adaptions#and that the moment it fails to be that yes it is in fact a bad adaption no matter how much you enjoy it as its own thing#you can enjoy it as its own thing if you must and still understand and acknowledge that it is a bad adaption#an adaption that does not adapt a story to a new medium but rather changes it in unnecessary ways that do not elevate the original is#not an adaption#but a failure of one#as at that point it has become a complete reimagining#and reimaginings are not bad….but they are if that was not what they were supposed to be doing in the first place#and if they aren’t upfront about the fact that it is NOT the same story but only borrows parts of it

"Professional linguists should only ever work in their native language to avoid such issues." hey so i understand the context in which you are working, and there are some unspoken standards among linguists and translators regarding this, but this strikes me as an extremely strange thing to say in a RQ email. what makes you assume that someone who makes grammatical errors in their english, or even in transcription are a foreigner, or not someone who speaks the language natively? the errors pointed out in your email strike me more as being unfamiliar with the terminologies of TTRPGs (ex. MPC instead of NPC) or so-called "careless" mistakes than egregious errors produced by lack of "native" english skill. unprofessional errors, to be sure, but not enough to warrant an assumption.
you yourself are an interpreter, and a polyglot; i'm certain you know many people in the field who speak multiple languages themselves, and fluently enough to do work in them, without any of them necessarily being their "native language". have you never felt the need to challenge the kind of entrenched biases within foreign language communities that force people to only work within the confines of their native languages, regardless of their fluency or competency in others? just a thought.
I'm not here to make a judgement about the ISO standards, but I felt it was important to point out to RQ that there is an industry standard.
Also yes, personally I agree that people can be highly skilled in foreign languages as well as their mothertongue. However, the transcripts show a scandalous lack of language skill for a professional product.
RQ paid for these transcripts and they're full of language and content mistakes.
I'm not saying "only native English speakers should work in English". I'm saying "these transcripts were not created / edited by someone suitable to the task", which, according to official industry standards, is a native speaker.
It felt important to point this out to RQ, so they could have checked whether their supplier had claimed to be following these industry standards or not. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fraudulent linguists out there, which is why any Language Service Provider vets the freelancers they have in their database - not just by checking qualifications, but also by having regular proofreadings and / or test pieces done. (A good LSP pays the tested freelancer for this and pays for the evaluation as well.). If the supplier had claimed to be following industry standards, then they would be able to give reasonable and believable explanations for these mistakes. However, given all the other issues listed in the email, I highly doubt that the supplier in question was working to industry standards. Whether out of their own intent, or because RQ wanted super cheap services and didn't care about the effect this would have on quality, I don't know, and I'm not going to make assumptions.
I'm going to assume you've sent this message in good faith, so I'm going to point out some explicit mistakes in the selection of screenshots that go far beyond terminology of TTRPGs and "carelessness".
"Patrion" is not a word in English. "Patreon" isn't either, it's a proper noun / name. "Patron" is a word. However, "Patreon" isn't pronounced like "patron" is. A native English speaker would have noticed that "patreon" is a made-up word and would have looked it up, instead of assuming they know how to write it. After all, English spelling and pronunciation are only losely connected (read, read, lead, lead, etc.).
"that was on the back of a massive set" is a phrase that makes no logical sense and any person skilled in English - especially a native speaker - should have noticed this.
"where you are now because the clearing" also makes no grammatical sense. And although Alex sometimes backtracks and/or corrects himself, I haven't noticed him tending to say incorrect sentences like this. "and the wall and Summit and Summit and Neil was just like..." Disregarding "Summit and Neil" instead of "Sumutnyerl", why is "Summit and" repeated? Again, someone with a firm grasp of the language would have noticed.
"I am Bertie and differently" does not make grammatical sense in any universe.
#rusty quill#rqg#tma#stl#trice forgotten#tma 2#C&M#tmagp#I'm really. Really. Really. hoping you sent this in good faith.#Stop defending a company that has done so much wrong and claimed to be so wholesome the entire time.#Inclusive and accessible my ass. First the transcripts. Then Brinn saying they were deadnamed in their exit interview...#fucking hell. Hypocrisy upon hypocrisy.#franzis thoughts

100% agree but I'd like to add something for folks to think about. I worked for a captioning company for 2 years, not as a captioner myself but as the scheduler between clients and captioners—client says "we need this show/broadcast/event/livestream/webinar/etc captioned", I put it in the books and then found someone to live caption it. My side was live captions, I should note, which is slightly different than the transcription-style captioning done for stuff that's already been recorded, but we had a dept for that, too.
Even from 2016-2018 when I was with that company, the whole captioning (and related court reporting) industry was deeply worried about the future for a very simple reason: virtually no one was joining it. Young people didn't even know about it as an industry, as a thing you could do for work to make money. So there was no influx of human beings to keep things going long-term. The captioners I worked with were all 40 or older; one lady was in her 60s-pushing-70s, and my boss who occasionally stepped in to caption was in her 60s as well.
So even a few years before the threat of AI started looming over everything, the captioning industry was starting to panic about where they would even find people to do captions someday. And it's not an easy task.
Even for pre-taped stuff like shows and films, the ideal scenario is to have a professional captioner who can use a stenotype machine to type quickly and accurately in shorthand and get those words out as fast as possible.
You have to have great hearing and better listening skills, because you need to be able to quickly parse the speaker's words from ambient noise and/or figure out accents.
Obviously the pressure is higher for live captioners, but pre-taped captioners are still under pressure to do all this as quickly and accurately as possible for a fast turnaround. (Our pre-taped captioners did a lot of archival stuff, writing up captions for old as balls programs with audio recorded on a potato, like good lord.)
You also need time beforehand to prep your shorthand dictionaries, because if you're not familiar with the material that's going to be talked about and someone says a word you don't know, you're gonna have no choice but to slap up something that's probably very wrong and you're going to be judged for not getting it right. But organizers aren't always great at getting your prep to you on time... or at all... so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So captioning is a highly skilled job that takes a lot of training and focus to do, even if you have the luxury of being able to play back the show/film/whatever that you're captioning or have a script to work from. And again, even if you have prep or a script to work from, it could change last minute and the folks in charge might not bother giving it to you at all.
Now combine all these things together: an industry based on an essential accessibility, which is slowly dying because not enough humans are getting trained and joining the workforce to keep it alive according to professional and regulatory standards. It's also not cheap to hire captioning services, because you're paying for skilled labor from a human who can actually understand the nuances of human speech.
So what do you think film companies and such are gonna do? Look for every way imaginable to cut corners, of course. Hire outside of trusted, certified, trained captioning companies. Start up shitty little slopshops of people who can prove a high WPM rate to type up captions for a pittance. And now we have AI on the scene, finally making it possible to remove the human element altogether and have a machine do it for you for even less than a pittance.
Where I'm going with this is: please rage against shitty captions on your shows and movies. Rage about them publicly. Rage about them online, in person, to the FCC, to any government officials who need a reminder that the ADA exists as a part of US law. I'm less familiar with equivalent governing bodies outside the US who might have a say in captioning, but rage at them as well. But most importantly, rage against the studios and companies who are skimping on captioning services.
You're right, it is not a big ask that captions and subtitles be good and understandable. However, it is not exclusively the fault of the captioning companies and their captioners. The captioning industry is actively ageing and dying. People make mistakes as they get older, they can't type as fast or hear as well as they used to, they're not as familiar with new cultural touchstones and language. The good captioners are all aging out and retiring, and virtually no humans are stepping up to replace them, either from not knowing it's a viable career or from knowing that those remaining are being deeply undervalued—that production companies don't want to spend anything at all, so they'll only spend the bare minimum and take whatever crap they pay for as "good enough". So instead, the captioning workforce is being replaced with machines and AI who cannot do half as good a job as a human being could.
So rage against bad captions and subtitles, but direct your rage where it's needed: at the production companies who refuse to pay for a human being to properly interpret for other humans, and would rather a shitty AI do it instead. Rage against the shoddy legislation and regulations that allow them to do this, that allow captioning companies to desperately turn more to AI captions as they lose their workforce and are told their services aren't worth being paid much for.
Put your rage where it will have an effect. Not at the feet of overworked captioners and companies who are unwillingly having to switch to computer-generated garbage just to make sure there are *some* kinds of captions available. Direct it at the studios and production companies who won't pay for human labor, and the regulators who are letting best practices be left to rot.
I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

Cheap Translation Services: Finding Affordable Solutions Without Compromising Quality
Translation services are crucial for businesses, individuals, and organizations needing to communicate across language barriers effectively. While quality is paramount, finding affordable options can also be essential, especially for those with budget constraints. Understanding how to identify and utilize cheap translation services without compromising accuracy or reliability is key to meeting linguistic needs efficiently and economically.
What are Cheap Translation Services?
Cheap translation services refer to professional translation solutions that offer competitive pricing while maintaining high standards of accuracy, reliability, and confidentiality. These services cater to a wide range of translation needs, from personal documents to business communications, without sacrificing quality.
Factors Influencing Pricing in Translation Services
Complexity of the Text: The complexity of the content being translated, such as technical jargon, legal terminology, or specialized industry-specific language, can impact the cost of translation.
Language Pair: Some language pairs may be more expensive due to scarcity of qualified translators or higher demand for certain languages.
Volume of Work: Bulk translations often come with discounted rates per word or per project, making it more cost-effective for larger documents or ongoing projects.
Turnaround Time: Urgent translations may incur rush fees, whereas standard turnaround times are typically more affordable.
Tips for Finding Affordable Translation Services
Compare Pricing: Research and compare quotes from multiple translation service providers to find competitive rates that fit your budget.
Avoid Hidden Costs: Ensure that the quote includes all fees upfront, such as editing, formatting, and certification, to avoid unexpected expenses.
Consider Freelancers: Freelance translators may offer lower rates compared to agencies, especially for smaller projects or less complex translations.
Use Technology Wisely: Utilize machine translation tools for initial drafts or non-critical content to reduce costs, then have a professional translator review and edit the text for accuracy.
Benefits of Cheap Translation Services
Cost-Effectiveness: Affordable rates allow businesses and individuals to manage translation expenses within budget constraints without compromising quality.
Quick Turnaround: Many cheap translation services offer fast turnaround times for urgent projects, ensuring timely delivery of translated documents.
Accessibility: Affordable services make professional translation accessible to smaller businesses, startups, and individuals who may have limited financial resources.
Quality Assurance: While cost-effective, reputable cheap translation services maintain high standards of quality assurance, ensuring accurate and reliable translations.
Considerations When Choosing Cheap Translation Services
Quality Assurance: Verify that the service provider employs qualified translators with expertise in the relevant field and language pair to ensure accurate translations.
Certifications and Accreditations: Look for certifications or memberships in reputable translation associations, indicating adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Customer Reviews: Read client testimonials and reviews to gauge the service provider's reputation for reliability, accuracy, and customer service.
Confidentiality: Ensure that the translation service provider maintains strict confidentiality protocols to protect sensitive information contained in the documents.
Examples of Documents Suitable for Cheap Translation Services
Personal Documents: Birth certificates, marriage certificates, passports, and academic transcripts.
Business Communications: Emails, marketing materials, presentations, and website content.
Legal Documents: Contracts, agreements, court documents, and patents.
Technical Manuals: Instruction guides, product specifications, and engineering documents.
Conclusion
Cheap translation services provide cost-effective solutions for businesses, organizations, and individuals seeking to communicate effectively across language barriers without overspending. By understanding the factors influencing pricing, comparing service providers, and ensuring quality and reliability, you can leverage affordable translation solutions to meet your linguistic needs efficiently and economically.

I'm gonna ask a weird question but:
Is there anything you guys (aka y'all following me lol) want to see more of from me, in terms of a potential item(s)/service(s) to purchase?
Better explanation of what the fuck I'm waxing on abt below the cut. TW for talk of money/work/the overall state of things economically for me and my plans/goals/potential options to keep making things better.
I need to bring in more money. I'm getting more stable, trying to save on top of the generous donations I've been given while using them as needed for things we absolutely need (food, basic supplies/necessities.) But we're still so tight, and I know nearly everyone is dealing with some form of this right now bc Everything Sucks Economically on like. a level of how it felt in 2008 (extra terrifying feeling now) but. It's killing me. I can't take feeling like a burden like this. I have to do more.
I have been applying elsewhere, for FT, PT, and contract jobs that pay better, though I am hoping more for the FT positions of course. Thus far, I have not had any bites back that amounted to anything, but intend to continue my efforts regardless (because what else can I do there anyway?)
I've been trying to figure out other options, w/things I know I can do somewhat well to very well. All would be cheap, but hopefully would add up over time until I can get a FT job again and while I grind away at the current PT job (which I am hoping to add more hours to for the next semester, when they have us make our scheduling choices again and allow us to potentially add at least one more shift to our schedule.)
So, a poll. To gauge interest, and see if y'all have any opinions/would even potentially purchase anything like the below things from me. I'll try and detail each option below, but first, the options:
1. Photo Prints: I've done photography since high school, though I only have my current Pixel phone available for it right now. That said, they would be as cheap as I can get away with, and my Pixel actually doesn't do too badly, plus I would be editing these to make them as good looking as possible. Ideally, I'd have a Pay What You Want option instead, so ppl can just give whatever they think the print is worth since these will be smaller, amateur prints, but I'm not sure if all the platforms that usually handle photo print sales for smaller creators allow that. So, in that case, a range of probably $1-$5 at most for each print. They would be of things out here; I have access to and experience already with taking city and nature themed pictures (it was literally all I did in hs and since then bc of where I've lived.) So general city life/scenery, plus local wildlife like the birds, squirrels, and nature surrounding us in all seasons, plus any extra pictures I can take elsewhere whenever Housemate and I are out and about (aka probably lots of mountain and ocean shots.) My speciality when I had my other camera was micro/detailed photography, and I'd like to explore this with my current setup and see how they turn out and potentially offer those as well.
If it would help to see some current pictures that I am considering as the first set I would put up for sale, please reply on this post letting me know and I can post a couple as examples 🙌
2. Poetry Commissions: I have done these on and off since middle school, usually for friends/family. Nothing wild, but usually shorter, some rhyming, some free verse, poems on varying topics. I've done them for birthdays, holidays like Mother's Day and Father's Day, as well as with obits or for weddings, and even a baby shower, to go on the invites. I haven't posted much of what I've written in recent years, but as with the pictures, I would be happy to post some of the ones I've written before as examples. Poetry is where I have no fear and will work myself to the bone to provide the best work possible; if you can get me just the bare basic details (ex. You want a poem for your brother's bday. Give me his name, a couple of hobbies/likes of his, and two of your favourite memories with him and I'll write you something beautiful, to celebrate him and his place in your life and take the piss out of him too, depending on your relationship with your brother lol), I can get you a poem in a 2-4 day turnaround time for as low as 5¢/word. Electronic only, but you would get a PDF of the poem that you can do whatever you want with afterwards (I would require my name remain credited on any other posting/usage elsewhere, but you wouldn't have to pay me again if you want to reuse it for another brother, to harken back to our example.)
3. Data Entry/Transcription Assistance: This one is a pretty wide range of what I can offer. I have experience working with medical documents (neurology, ophthalmology, and optometry for specific specialities both in data entry and transcription) via two of my last jobs, technical documents from two prior jobs (public library and medical staff training specifically), and historical documents including both handwritten (including print and cursive) and typed documents and charts via my volunteer work with Zooniverse. This is my bread and butter in terms of general job skills, and one I genuinely enjoy. That means that I come into each job, regardless of field or exact task, with excitement and an open mind, ready to prioritise and organise everything to the requested system and/or standard, with the goal to go above and beyond that however possible. Usually I achieve this by completing projects as ahead of deadline as possible, as well as by taking on any additional related tasks as needed (example: you hired me on to type up all of Grandma's lifelong journal entries for archiving and easy reading at an upcoming family reunion, but now you've found that Grandpa has one too. For minimal to no additional cost, I will happily take that on and endeavour to have both sets of data typed up in an easy to send/print word doc and/or PDF well before the reunion deadline.) I am more than willing to take on contract/NDA required work for this option as well, and have done so in the past with a prior job (aka why I'm not allowed to share any of the clinic training docs I made.) Cost might depend some on project size and deadline, but a general estimate would be, to stick with our above example: $5 per 250/pg journal, with a small additional charge of $5 if a rush is requested (aka say the reunion gets moved up to three days from now vs three months or weeks.) I would endeavour to charge no higher than $25 with $5 rush fee if rush requested for bigger projects.
4. Research Assistance: More or less what it says on the tin. Can be for work, home related things, whatever (though if requested for school/in regards to homework, I only go as far as providing resource links because unfortunately, usually doing the research yourself is a part of the learning process. However, if you're struggling to find primary or secondary sources, I am happy to help find those for you so that you can peruse them to see if they'll have the information you're looking for. If they do, great! If they don't, then I would keep looking for more.) While research hasn't been my main task at any of my prior jobs, it has always been a feature in much of the day to day work regardless, and is a skill I have kept up in my volunteer work with Zooniverse on projects which requested it. Looking for sources for anything, from work projects to recipes can be a slog. Let me do it for you. Pricing on this I'm putting at $5. That's it. Pay me $5, and I'll find as much as I can in regards to whatever you have that needs researching. Turnaround might depend on project, but I'm leaning 1-4 days at the very most.
So. There we are! Vote on the poll if you'd like, reply with any opinions/feelings/ideas you have for me about these, and thank you if you read this whole thing ❤️🫂
