Think vacation. Think Goa!
It’s a small name that instantly invokes the magic of the largest and happiest tropical vibes. You could spend a quick weekend or a whole month in this magical land of pristine beaches and lazy by-lanes where the fun literally never ends. The most sought-after holiday spot not only in India but the world, Goa is a haven for beach-lovers. Everyone has their own favorite raison d'être for holidaying in Goa but here is a list of top 5 reasons why Goa is considered the best holiday destination in the world.
Sprawling Beaches – Could there be anything more therapeutic than the feel of soft sand under your feet? We say no! Goa is a tourist’s delight for it boasts of an incredible coastline of over 100 kms dotted with innumerable pretty beaches. Busy shacks, adventure sports, a relaxing foot massage and delectable local grub all overlooking the majestic Arabian Sea is what dreams are made of.  From busy commercial beaches to the quiet pristine ones, Goa promises a different beach experience no matter where you are!
Most popular Goa beaches: Baga, Anjuna, Palolem, Candolim, Calangute, Morjim
Party Hearty – Deemed the party capital of India, Goa sure knows how to celebrate life each day. It’s buzzing and tripping all year round with an interesting mix of beach parties, psychedelic trance events, open-air night clubs and local pubs that light up the space at every twist and turn of the road. If you’re looking to seriously dance away the night, or just lounge on some retro and local music, Goa gives you the best experience of everything. Party to your heart’s content and make some crazy memories.
Most popular Party places: Tito’s Bar, LPK, Hilltop, UV Bar
Food for every Mood – From quaint local cafes to luxurious hotels, Goa has innumerable options for food-lovers. A typical Goan menu would have an eclectic mix of cocktails to go with finger-licking plate of fried prawns or fresh fish spiced with authentic Portuguese goodness. The food is cheap and so is the alcohol.  The casual yet experiential dining makes Goa a HOT favorite for foodies across the world.
Best Places to Eat in Goa – A Reverie, Tuscany Gardens, Thalassa, Mum’s Kitchen
Tumblr media
Architectural Marvels – Goa is full of architectural marvels in the form of old heritage buildings, reclaimed homes and churches. One can appreciate Portuguese aesthetics in famous landmarks like Se Cathedral, The Lanes of Fontainhas and Chapora Fort.
Must Visits – Fort Aguada, Shri Shantadurga Temple, The Viceroy’s Arch
Larger than Life Experiences – Casinos, shopping, cruises and camping! Goa is one of the only places in India that offers such a rich and diverse set of experiences and off-beat activities for tourists. No wonder everyone from a toddler to a senior citizen can’t resist coming back at the drop of a hat! While shoppers find paradise in sifting and bargaining for fashionable knick-knacks and thoughtful keepsakes in little arched boutiques and beach flea markets, the high rollers try their luck in the glitz and glamour of the casino through the night. A romantic cruise down the Mandovi River or private customized trails for the wilderness lovers - Goa is everything you want it to be!
A pleasure to visit anytime of the year there is no better summer, monsoon or winter than the one you’re spending in Goa! If you visited Goa than now you desire to live there each time, you visit, Goa opens a new chapter from past.
How Many Days are for Goa
Those people who stay close to the Goa, visit Goa for 3 to 4 days for relaxation on the beach. 3 to 4 days is not enough for the Goa, it deserves longer stay, like one week to 10 days. In this state, many beautiful places are there.
Where to stay in Goa
Goa is a small state. But to select to stay in Goa is a different experience. If you love to party and more Goa offers to the tourist, must select the Baga or Calangute. Those who love offbeat stays and serenity can choose between further North and South Goa.
North or South Goa, how to choose where to stay: this is very difficult to choose. If you are staying at Baga/Calangute than almost everything is available which you wish. Multiple bike rentals, car rentals, accommodation options. Cheap rate hotels, central bus stand, transportation facility, nice beach, café. Amazing nightlife also but the beach is crowded when you are on weekend. Due to that prices of beach shacks are also high. If you are staying at Arambol/Ashwem which is located at North Goa. In this area beaches are less crowded, the entire beach is yours. It is a safer option for a solo women traveler but here you cannot find a much more water sport activity and delightful nightlife as compare to Baga. If you are staying at south Goa you can find multiple luxury resorts and other stay option. This area is less crowded and it has a beautiful beach. If you want a local experience than south Goa is best to stay but it is away from the Airport and railway station.
What to wear in Goa
Wearing bikini/swimsuit in Goa?
Beaches in Goa are cool in dressing compared to other beaches. Here you did not attract unwanted male stare/attention: Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Vagator, Colva, Arambol, Ashwem. Palolem, these beaches are cool as well. If you are staying at the beach side resort, you can wear a bikini and wonder in the sea. when you are going to the city or going to eat,
The shopping experience in Goa: In the Goa, there is one market named as the flea market of Anjuna and the likes of it which sell several interesting stuff. Here you must do the bargain. It may yield a good buy or sometimes you have to let it go. Bargaining in Indian local market is an art by itself. This flea market in earlier days used to sell imported goods. Most of these products make their way from China. Now it is one village. Some of the best products in this market are listed below:
1. A bottle of Feni
2. Azulejos: Handpainted tiles of Goa
3. Bottle of Kokum Juice
4. Bibinca cake
5. Kunbi sari
6. Spices, especially black pepper and bird’s eye chilies
7. Musical instruments
Arpora night market is famous in Goa. So are the Sunday night markets.

Goa Hotels : Where to Stay in Goa
Tourism is an important part of life in Goa. There are people grouped and hotel options available at various prices.
Since Goa will be hosting hundreds of thousands of tourists over the Christmas and New Year holidays, lodging will be limited. If you intend to visit Goa in December, you should book ahead of time. Not just to find the best deals online, but also to save time while you're there.
Budget Hotel In Goa
A cheap hotel or backpacker accommodation is never far away for the spending plan traveller. These types of lodging may vary from simple rooms with simple mattresses to beautifully decorated guest houses, and since they're run by local families, a home-cooked meal might even be included in the bill!
3 Star Hotel Pic
Going off the beaten path in Goa will allow you to find affordable hotels, B&Bs, and backpacker hostels; however, prices will begin to rise as you get closer to the coastal belt and city areas.
A simple bathroom and a fan are usually included in a standard double bed. Prices can easily double during peak season.
Before paying, always check the room's condition (whether the toilet works, etc.) since certain establishments do not share the same standards of quality when charging similar rates.
Alternatively, for the best taste of rural Goa, stay in a family home, which is affordable and allows you to familiarise yourself in the local culture, while baths and toilets will most likely be in small outhouses.
Mid- Range Hotels In Goa
The majority of hotels in Goa are mid-range and moderately priced, with maid and room service, guest bars and restaurants, and Wi-Fi internet access. During the off-season, there is rarely a need to book these in advance, and the price gap between them and budget hotels is minimal.
3 star Hotel pic
A room with a good-sized bed, en suite bathroom, hot and cold water, cable television, air conditioning, and even a balcony can be had for as little as 500-800 Rupees per night, though most prices would be higher than 1000 Rupees.
Luxury Hotels In Goa
Families and short-term visitors prefer luxury Goa hotels and long-term rentals, such as 3-5 star hotels and private villas.
4 star hotels pic
While cheap, the level of luxury is unmatched, and rooms always have views of the beach and convenient access to local markets.
Tourists should expect to pay between 4,000 and 10,000 Rupees per night for a variety of restaurants, swimming pools, room sizes, and gym and spa facilities.
Goa Food
Goan food is incredibly complex and one of the world's first fusion flavours. While fish curries, fruit rice, and other staple dishes should not be overlooked, Goa's food vast collection offers many more distinct tastes and tastes to sample.
Seafood is a must-have on the menu for Goans, who take pride in their cooking as much as they do in their tea breaks. However, it is the joy of eating, not the method of preparation, that defines cuisine and culture.
Let's EAT Now,
Plantain Leaf is one of Goa's most popular vegetarian restaurants, with a menu nearly as long as the line of locals waiting outside. Plantain Leaf, located in the heart of the market district just off Calangute beach, serves the best of South Indian cuisine, including the classic vegetable pancake breakfast.
Then there's Greenland Bar & Restaurant, which is situated on Utorda beach, just a short walk from the Sunset shoreline's glorious sands.
Greenland's professional Goan chef prepares traditional delicacies and specialties for guests at this British-run diner, with their delicious banana fritters being a particular highlight.
Anjuna Beach, one of Goa's most famous resort destinations and just a short drive from Sunset Beach, is famous for its cuisine. Anjuna is where East meets West, with enough food options to keep visitors dining for weeks, as boutique cafés back onto Italian pizzerias.
Despite its diversity, nearly all Goan foods contain spicy ingredients; rice is fried with green chilies, and even ‘mild' curries can be very spicy.
As a result, if you want to keep your spice experience in Goa to a minimum, you must be very specific when ordering food in restaurants.
Order a side dish of cool yoghurt to help you digest your meal, and have a spare bottle of water with you at all times.

excerpts ~ chapter 1
Apocalyptic Tribes, Smugglers & Freaks
CHAPTER 1 • TURKEY
Under the Galata Bridge says:
"I shot opium tincture from a pharmacy, along with opium scored in [Istanbul's] Taxim Park, and smoked Blond hash from under the Galata Bridge, before leaving overland to have our son in Calangute beach, Goa [a west coast state in India].
This was actual liquid opium in a bottle, like cough medicine.
Not paregoric.
You had to cook the alcohol out before you shot it.
Being in a half-European city and half-Eastern Muslim city, started to prepare me for the trip to the East."
.
Naked and Barefoot replies:
"During my first trip overland in 1978, in Izmir [a Turkish port on the Aegean Sea], me and my friend arrived very late one night, after a long bus journey.
The bus terminal was quite a way outside the city, so we made the decision to get a few hours sleep in a nearby park.
We thought we were O.K. to sleep with our heads on our backpacks, as security.
Woke up with my pack knifed open. Clothes, shoes and camera gone. And this is why I have no pictures from my first travel.
Fortunately I had my money, passport, and [bus] ticket from Istanbul, inside the sleeping bag.
I just had to walk into Izmir the next morning, naked and barefoot, for new clothes, with the sleeping bag wrapped around my waist.
It was very embarrassing for a 19-year-old, who had never left England before this journey.
Traveling really is a learning curve.
It's an education like no other."
.
Solemn and Respectful:
"Nur Hotel, bottles of tincture of O, shared giant needles, bad hash, too much halvah and tangerines, moments when we thought we would die.
Police, bad, bad characters.
The Turks following us everywhere, pushing us to the limits of our patience.
Deals -- trying to come up with ways to break in the [Istanbul] Post Office to retrieve a Christmas present full of hash butter brittle, cheap California pot, and rolling papers.
Oh yeah, and a finger of some deelish Shitrali [hashish from Chitral, Pakistan].
We were friends with Perihan, The Hippie Queen.
When she overdosed, the papers were full of photos of her.
Some even in her underwear.
It was so sad.
Her family disowned her.
The papers would pay for the funeral, if they could take photos of her friends.
The stories were all lies.
We were extremely solemn and respectful.
They said we drank, smoked and danced on the grave.
Even referred to me as a Catholic priest because of the long black cloak I was given by a friend in Luxembourg.
We spent six weeks in Istanbul, in December 1969 and January 1970.
Part of a total overland trip to India that started in Luxembourg."
.
Especially Still:
"I had a bad experience I never forget.
A child, two years old, traveled with us, and died during the way, in Turkey.
It was not my child, but still horrible and sad, especially for the mother.
She decided to bury the..."

The best time to visit Goa is during Mid-November to Mid-February. It is during these months that the goa weather is pleasantly cool and comfortable. Also December is the time for Goa’s most popular festival, Sunburn, besides Christmas, and New Year celebrations.
The goa tour packages during this period are at premium, this being the peak season.
If one is looking for a budgeted tour package for couples in Goa, then the period from Mid-June to October is most recommended, If you love the monsoon and the lush green countryside, that the rain Gods turn Goa into. Moreover, you can get a customised Goa tour package from Delhi, Mumbai or other cities and get amazing deals on Goa trip packages.

Exploring And Enjoying Goa
How to explore and enjoy all the sights mentioned above. The options are many and very exciting.
You could hire a motorbike typical Royal Enfield, or a Sooty and ride pillion, while enjoying:
The enchanting contrast, between the tropical green jungles, the Portuguese colonial architecture and the misty sandy beaches, all making for an unforgettable adventure.
For the couple there are local Taxi’s available, which you could hire for going around all the places.
For the shopaholic, the local flea market (street market) is literally a dream come true.
The air is packed with fragrant spices, handmade trinkets and stylish clothes
Feast On Local Goa Cuisine
For some, a trip to Goa is a food pilgrimage. With its coastal location, Goa has access to some of India’s best seafood – a goa prawn/crab curry washed down with a Kingfisher beer is a one-way ticket to food heaven!
Make sure you try Chouriço de Goa; a nod to the region’s Indo-Portuguese heritage in the form of a cured pork sausage. It’s a unique dish that you won’t find elsewhere in India.
The mix of cultures that have made Goa their home has contributed to a vibrant food scene that knows how to excite (or set fire to) the taste buds!
Ros omelette is one of the most popular snacks and street foods in Goa, it is traditionally sold on food carts on streets.
Saturday Night Bazaar
We just can’t get enough of the markets in Goa, and every Saturday night Aguada comes to life with a massive bazaar. Not just a top shopping market, there’s a dedicated space for live shows, local bands playing and pop up bars which make for an amazing atmosphere. A few cheap beers, street food and live music here sounds like a pretty dreamy way to start any night out.
Tumblr media
Do go chasing waterfalls, don’t just stick to the beaches, hostels and the hotels you’re used to.
If you only have time for one day of waterfall frolics, then Dudhsagar Falls is a good choice. Dudhsagar Falls (literally Sea of Milk) is a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River in the Indian state of Goa. It is 60 km from Panaji by road and is located on the Madgaon-Belagavi rail route about 46 km east of Madgaon and 80 km south of Belgaum. Dudhsagar Falls is amongst India's tallest waterfalls with a height of 310 m (1017 feet) and an average width of 30 metres (100 feet). The falls is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park among the Western Ghats. The area is surrounded by deciduous forests with rich biodiversity.
Tumblr media
One can also arrange to visit the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.
It is a 240 square kilometres (93 sq mi) protected area located in the Western Ghats of South India, in Goa State, along the eastern border with Karnataka. It contains several important temples dating to the Kadambas of Goa, and home to waterfalls, such as Dudhsagar Falls and Tambdi Falls. The parkland is also home to a community of nomadic buffalo herders known as the Dhangar.
Must Read: Best Beaches In Goa
You can also avail of the centers where therapeutic and meditative – yoga, tai-chi, Reiki and Ayurveda (to name a few) are widely practiced. While other parts of India are great for this too, Goa has the advantage of the picturesque beaches as a backdrop and loads of wellness cafes for a healthy post-class munch. Don’t worry if you’re inexperienced – nobody cares and classes cater for all levels!
However, if you’re already a keen yogi then consider taking it up a level. You’ll find courses that are both rewarding and challenging. As well as being great for your personal wellbeing, you can become a certified yoga teacher at the end of it.

Things to Tick Off When Picking a Budget Friendly Stay in Goa
Finding the right budget-friendly stay in Goa can be a tough task but it isn’t an impossible one. The trick lies in knowing what you are looking for and what you can expect from a particular villa.
To make things easier for you, here are a few elements you need to pay attention to when looking at budget friendly stay in Goa.
Understand the length of stay and commitment If you are looking for a longer stay, hotel stays can be a bit on the expensive side of things especially if you are looking to check in with a larger family and friends. So it is always important to first understand the length of your stay and accordingly search for cheap hotels in Goa.
The kind of space you are looking for Space is another important factor you need to lay emphasis on. Again it depends on the number of members coming for a stay in Goa. A resort especially the one offered to you by Goa Clarks comes with various themed Deluxe 3-2-1 bedroom villas and studio apartments.
The cost of it all Understand the costs a particular stay comes at beforehand so that there is no confusion later on. This can save you a lot of trouble and help you decide within no time whether a specific hotel is for you or not. Remember, hotel prices are not designed for long term stays. So when looking at cheap hotels in Goa, see that the cost it comes at is worth the amenities it brings guests.
The amenities and services provided Like we mentioned earlier, for the cost of the stay to make sense, you need to know whether the amenities and services the hotel brings you matches your expectations. Usually, hotels offer you a list of the facilities they bring you so you can have a detailed idea of what to expect. If you have any queries, you can always contact the hotel to know about any further details.
Privacy is an important aspect too A hotel near Calangute Beach can feel like a dream come true but it can also be overly crowded with visitors from every nook and cranny walking in and out. This means privacy takes a backseat. However, this shouldn’t always be the case. A part of the vacation also means being able to enjoy privacy to do whatever you want, whenever you wish to. So this is an essential aspect too especially if you are someone who values your privacy above everything else.
Pay attention to these elements and you are sure to find a hotel that suits all of your preferences and tastes just right. Above all, if the place that is going to be your safe refuge has an inviting and ambient atmosphere, you can unwind and relax in all the right ways. All in all, Goa Clarks offers you an experience of a lifetime. You can get in touch with them to know more about what they have to offer.
