One Piece 860 The Party Begins at 10 -The Sun Pirates plan to go leaving Pekoms behind so they don’t get in trouble with Big Mom. -Jinbe explained to them that he was lucky to find out about the assassination plan from Pekoms and says he’s going to mutiny against Big Mom. He couldn’t do things her way because the roulette wheel had numbers on it that represent the number of crewmembers that would suffer with him so he refused. -Jinbe orders the Sun Pirates to leave soon since all of Big Mom’s security will be focused on the party. Before they leave, Aladine points out Jinbe plans to throw his life away. Jinbe doesn’t deny it since when he joins the Straw Hats, he plans to protect Luffy even at the cost of his life. -Inside Whole Cake Island, the Vinsmoke head to the roof where the party will be held, while Reiju worries about what will happen to Sanji. -Many people are excited because the guests have arrived and boy are they an interesting crowd. I don’t know how important they’ll be later so I’ll just point out that one’s a really big bird. Wonder if he brought a blue cookie-loving monster as his plus one. -Perospero welcomes the guests and uses his devil fruit to make a candy escalator to ride up to the party so they won’t be late. Devil fruits: the power to make everything extra. -Outside the party hall, Capone is dealing with a man who’s complaining about how he couldn’t attend Big Mom’s last party and then he’s shot dead by, of all things, a jelly bean. -The man who shot him is Charlotte Katakuri, the second son, one of the 3 sweet commanders, has a bounty of 1.057 billion, and a big fan of leather. Capone considers him trouble because he’s honed his observation haki to the point he can see a little into the future. -Inside Smoothie is offering guests drinks of juice she wrings out of stuff including lava, a serial killer woman, and a giraffe. Suddenly I’m reminded that Eichiro Oda and Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi are friends. -Big Mom shows up surrounded by treats and homies and tells everyone to enjoy. Elsewhere, Sanji is ready for the plan.

Awards Interesting Character: Charolette Katakuri for his power and having the highest known bounty in the series at the moment.

Rating: 3/10. (a big spectacle)

Thoughts: From the fact that we get at least 5 two page spreads shows that the chapter wants to focus on the grandness of Big Mom’s tea party from the abilities of her subordinates to seeing the different guesses. As such the story hardly progresses though we do get a new player in the form of Katakuri, who definitely seems like trouble. Seriously, he’s decked out in leather and spikes and headshot killed a man.
