relief washes over her features in the form of a sympathetic smile and a visible relax in her creased brows. for as much as he's not in the mood for some wisdom, she's not in the mood to impart any. in fact, after the week she's had, hannah would trust a cardboard box's wisdom over her own.

"i get it," she assures the other, voice gentle and light. she slumps beside him on a stiff cot, lightly wincing when springs poke and prod at worn muscles. "god, you'd think they'd at least pretend to splurge on a half - decent mattress, right?"

Ripley flinches a bit as the alcohol wipe touches the wound on his side. He had gotten cut by an aggressive father who didn't think the doctors were helping his kid fast enough. Ripley jumped in front of Frost and Hannah before either one could get hurt and he ended up getting hurt in the process. "Does it need stitches, Frost?" He asks watching Frost's hands.

Ripley's head pops up and he rubs at his eyes a bit, stretching his arms over his head as he yawns a bit. "Oh! You're awake!" He grins, leaning forward in his chair. "Welcome back to the land of the living." He teases, reaching over to pat Frost's upper arm. "How you feeling, bro?"

A teacher had called for another ambo squad to bring him in to MED after he got sick at school.

Ripley rolls over on the bed in the on-call room, lifting his head up a bit to look over at John before grabbing his own phone and texting the other doctor from across the room. [Nick of Time]: You awake, rookie?

Ripley removes his cowboy hat from atop his head and sets it down on the nurse's desk. He digs his phone out of his slightly too-tight pants and grins at John, pointing at his phone before texting the other. [Nick of Time]: Nice costume. You look like a banana 😂

His chest feels heavy and he's scared so that doesn't help, it also doesn't help that there is something heavy on his chest. He barely reaches his phone and pulls it close to him. He shakingly texted John before passing out. [Nick of Time]: If I don't make it.. Tell Hannah I

It's short and quick because they are waiting for the next wave of trauma patients from a huge pileup on the highway. [Nick of Time]: Beers are on me tonight, trust me we're going to need them.

He's drunk and wandering the street after a hard shift at Med. He squints as he tries to text John, he's not even sure it's coherent. [Nick of Time]: I'm wrunck can I come over?

Jimmy jumps out of the driver's seat of Engine 51, putting his helmet and tank on. He rushes over to Lieutenant Herrmann and puts his hand on his helmet as he tilts his head back to look up at the burning building.

"Doherty mask up. You and I are going in." Herrmann speaks before turning to direct the other members of Engine 51. Jimmy nods as he removes his helmet and holds it between his legs before slipping his mask on. He affixes his helmet on top of his head and pauses before following after Herrmann as he rushes into the burning building.

"Fire department call out!" Jimmy shouts as he moves further into the building and opens the doors, looking for anyone who didn't get out.

Dom walks toward the ambulance as tiny hands cling to his overcoat. He holds the child close to his chest as he walks. He stops in front of Violet and Novak before he reaches up to gently pry the hands off of his overcoat. He stops trying to pry the child's hands off of him when the child whimpers and buries their face into Dom's chest.

Dom looks at his paramedics before holding onto the child with one arm, using the other arm to lift them both up and into the ambulance. "It's okay. I got you." He whispers so only the child can hear him. The paramedics look at each other and then at their Chief before Novak climbs into the back with the other two. Violet shuts the doors and climbs into the driver's seat.

The ride to Med is quiet minus the small whimpers and sniffles from the child. Dom strokes their hair and continues holding them. Once they arrive at Med, Novak helps the Chief and the child out, walking the two inside with Violet behind them. Maggie directs them to Treatment One and Violet leads them to the room. Dom sits down on the bed, stretching his legs out by now the child has stopped whimpering and sniffling but still has their face in Dom's chest.

They are left alone for the time being until Dom hears a voice. He nods and smiles a bit, holding out his hand and speaking, "Battalion Chief Dom Pascal and this little one is Tyler." Tyler lifts his head a bit to peek at the doctors who had walked in. Ripley shakes Dom's hand and introduces himself before moving to the side of the bed to check Dom over while Frost enters shortly after.

So, for Melanie it is what it is unless something actually happens between her and Lenox. And as far as she does what she's told she should be fine. Right?

She helps Frost out with his patient. She enjoys working with the kids too, they are far more entertaining and even more brave than the parents which is understandable. ❝ You know, if you ask nicely I'm sure Ty would let you have access to his candy drawer for the kids.❞

john gave a small closed lip smile at melanie as they walked through the emergency room. ❛ you are a newer nurse right? i have seen maggie and elyse help you. hey, from what i have seen, you do a good job. you are doctor brendan's sister, right? ❜ john questioned.
