When curls are froed & picked out they are expanded out & voluminous. 🌻• • When curls are hydrated & healthy with the proper stylers in them, they shrink themselves back into their natural curl pattern making the hair appear less voluminous. Shaping & Hydrating 🌻✂️• • The left is after I cut the shape into Gabby's hair, & the right is after I washed, conditioned, & styled her beautiful curls. 🌻• • If you notice curls when they are fluffed out they are expanded, & when they are hydrated & styled the curls will shrink themselves a bit. • • Why? Because when we use water & water soluble products it helps to feed the hair to encourage the curls to clump more, helping you get those curls super defined. I diffused her hair after I styled her hair so that also made her curls shrink more. • • 🌻 Hair Nerd Moment: Remember that curly hair will always be naturally dry. Why? Because sebum, which our bodies naturally create to keep our hair strands moisturized, has a long way to travel up & out of our follicles because our curls are also curly as they grow underneath our skin on our scalps.
