Got in so deep to my gift it requires a master post, but that's fine because it gives me way more room to write a message to my beloved @charliezay. Maddi, my dearest one, when I got your name in SS this year I knew it was going to be a challenge. Not because you're hard to please -- you'd love anything, I know -- but because how would I encompass nearly five years of best friendship into one gift? Even so, I had to try, and so we ended up with this, a handful of gifsets and playlists made up of music we've shared and centered on our favorite blorbos (because of course, luckily and naturally, you and I have the same top four characters -- actually top 6 with Zay and Riley tied to boot). I tried to shoehorn in as much as I possibly could: our best babes, nods to Unpacked, showcasing the lovely song recs you give and how I really do appreciate them even though it takes me a thousand years to listen to them, Taylor Swift (naturally), purple (naturally)... and for your theorist, brilliant brain, I may have peppered in some Season 5 hints and nods into these, because I'm me, and because your enjoyment of digging in and using your keen eye is one of my most favorite things about you. (I also opted not to write something this year, because I know you get overwhelmed enough by how long the episodes are as is. Lol). So please take my humble offering, know that I love you with all my heart and soul, and I can't wait for more years of unpacking to come. 💜

5 good/positive things that happened to you in 2020:

adopting my first cat!! quinn is my life and she saved 2020.

getting my first professional job. even though i lost it to the pandemic pretty quickly, it proved that i was employable and was great experience (hopefully i’ll be able to return to it soon).

getting quincy willows polished enough to the query stage. it went through 3 different rewrites in 2020, and it was a really fulfilling process. i’m so proud of this project and i’m hopeful that 2021 holds good things for where this book goes next.

being able to be home for a while with my family in such a strange time. i’m fortunate to have them as a support system and safety net as well as the luck and means to be able to travel back to stay with them.

all of the continued work and excitement and community with @ambitionsource. ready for more in 2021!

You need to watch Hello Dolly! Because it’s good. Farkle lowkey wants to be dolly but I think Maya would hack it. The love interest guy doesn’t sing much so he could be Nigel. The two young couples... (it’s been too long since I’ve watched idk the names rn) Zay/Riley Charlie/Yindra I wanna say. Listen this needs work.. okay now Farkle has to be the kind of lanky newlywed and Isa for his wife? Need one more gal for the eccentric lady.. I’m saying Chai. Apologies for this mess.

now listen, any chance to put charlie and yindra again in a production where they have to play love interests is a chance worth taking. it’s just so funny. even though yindra now knows charlie is gay, don’t think she will EVER let him live down the cringe of what was the worst stage rehearsal kiss she’s ever experienced. that will live in hilarious infamy for the rest of their friendship days. so i’m all for it.

maya as dolly makes sense although... literally how fun would it be if darby took the role. she probably wouldn’t if maya exists as competition but oh she would kill it. she’s got the right energy. putting nigel in a love interest role with less singing is a wise move. also i love that you mentioned farkle wants to be dolly because i think that’s probably so true. farkle wants to be every leading role -- gender means nothing. when he’s fanny brice in funny girl THEN YOU’LL ALL SEE......

Who was a Harry Potter kid and who was not?

It’s interesting to think that for this crop of teens, HP was more movies to them than books. But we’ll consider it from the angle of the franchise as a whole.

HP Kids: Isadora (biggest one), Yogi (Weasley twins were his inspiration), Riley, Darby, Sarah, Nigel (read the books but wasn’t Hype over it)

Decidedly NOT HP: Farkle (he couldn’t get past the logical fallacies and drove Lila crazy when Jennifer was reading to both of them), Maya (doesn’t give a shit about it or reading), Dylan (doesn’t read / fell asleep during most of the movies but he wants a damn chocolate frog so bad), Yindra (disliked them to be edgy at first and now feels very justified in that), LJF (doesn’t read), Asher (chose not to read them to go for books higher than his grade level so he skipped them), Haley (she was a Twilight girl all the way)

Otherwise, if not mentioned they’re just neutral.
